✨ Redesigning the Coronation Parade Outfits in Prince Caspian (2008) ✨ And here's all of them!

Ever since 2009 or 2010, the coronation parade outfits had bugged me with reasons I cannot identify. I've always thought that 'if I designed it, I would have it look like...' and so on. But now that I had evolved into a fan artist, I realized that I can now do that. Hence, this.

Here's the breakdown on how I came up with all the design. I want to again say that I have zero background in costume design, so I relied only on the internet for history.

Thank you so much to everyone who showed (and will show) appreciation to this little draw series of mine. Narnia has been a part of me for more than half of my lifetime and it's such a joy to be able to create art for it.

Note: I am so open to requests. Recently, I received one request for a redesign of Lucy's Dawn Treader costume. And while it wasn't part of the plan, I still decided to give it a try and it was quite fun throwing in some of my headcanons during the conceptualization process.

✨ Redesigning Some Costumes in Narnia ✨

Okay, I'm not saying I can do it better, Isis Mussenden will always be better at this than me, but this draw series (which I probably won't finish again) is something like a Narnia-In-My-Style.

And I started with this because this is one of the scenes that bugged me since 2009. I knew that the coronation sequence in Prince Caspian only lasted for a minute but I kinda wished I could redesign their outfit based on what I headcanon.

So my headcanon is that their goal is for humans and Narnians to coexist, so the Kings and Queens of Old demonstrated that by blending both cultures starting with the clothing. This is basically the challenge I set for myself for this series: I blended the Pre-Raphaelite inspirations with Mediterranean Fashion while keeping the original colors Mussenden had used.

For this one, I decided to let Lucy keep her 'happy' look by leaving her hair down.

✨ Redesigning Costumes in Narnia ✨ Part 2: Queen Susan's Coronation Parade Dress in Prince Caspian (2008)

So this is the one where I barely kept anything from the original; just the colors and some details. I honestly didn't like the original dress that much and wished it could be closer to what she wore during the farewell scene (which ate btw).

So I put my entire being into this single artwork.

I also liked the way I drew Susan's face here; I was frustrated at first bec I can't seem to get it right but I trusted the process (tho it doesn't know I'm putting my trust in it) and finally got this.

✨ Redesigning Costumes in Narnia ✨ Part 3: King Edmund's Coronation Parade Outfit

This is the one where I barely changed anything (woohoo!!). I think I am satisfied with the original design, and it is a little similar to what Caspian wore in the farewell (which also ate btw). But since "redesigning" is the main theme of this little draw series I started, I HAD TO still redesign it lol.

I also hated myself for making the rule "keep the original colors" because I really, really wanted to make this green and black like his farewell outfit.

And in my Lucy's Redesign, I recently had this in one of the tags:

And now I'm beginning to think that maybe they're right? Look, I generally liked all of the Farewell Dresses but I had to admit that Lucy's fell a little short. The embroideries are great but maybe this is my call to redesign only that??

✨ DESIGNING CHARACTERS IN NARNIA: The Magician's Nephew✨ (scroll for a breakdown of the design)

I bet there's going to be a bunch of people who'd hate me if I reveal who the face claim was, but I'd love 'till the end of time whoever guesses it.

One of my headcanons in Narnia is that Polly Plummer's family is rich. She was described to be living in a terrace house in London and for some reason, I've associated that with being rich (maybe because of Annie in The Parent Trap). And that was the design that I aimed for in this one.

✨ Redesigning Costumes in Narnia ✨ Part 4: Luke Skywalker High King Peter's Coronation Parade Outfit (I lost confidence in this halfway through LMAO)

I don't know why he ended up looking like Luke Skywalker here. Maybe something 'you can take the girl out of Star Wars but you can't take the Star Wars out of the girl'.

And since this part of the draw series is over, I wanted to share a little trivia to all the users who's known me only recently: All of the write-ups weren't typed in. It wasn't a font, it was my handwriting. All of these are handwritten.

✨DESIGNING CHARACTERS IN NARNIA: The Magician's Nephew✨ (scroll for a breakdown of the design)

Just a little backstory: I got into the Narnia fandom on this day 15 years ago. Thinking about it today, that was just as long as the Golden Age of Narnia, when the Pevensie siblings ruled them.

For this draw series, I will be skipping The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe because it has won an Oscar for Costume and Makeup so there is no way I can top that. I will be moving directly to The Horse and His Boy.

I also started a re-read of all the books for the sole purpose of being able to design the characters of The Horse and His Boy correctly because for the love of me, I cannot remember anything about it, only the part where Rabadash turned into a donkey.
