a little thing i noticed about Aoyama and Amai's scene:

Aoyama asks to share the dessert. Amai left his love interests eat the fruit of his effort by themselves, after all he made it for them. That way, however, he made it all about them. So when they got what they needed from the dessert (and from Amai), they ditched it (and Amai). Aoyama, however, wants to make this moment about them both, he puts in the effort to help Amai but Amai's problem is that others don't recognise his worth and Ayoama doesn't just want to solve it - he wants to BE the "others" recognising his worth. He doesn't hope to be a stepping stone to resolving an issue that doesn't directly affect him, he's determined to be the solution itself. That is why he takes the extra step of asking to share the dessert. They are equals, not the receiver enjoying the attention and care and the giver standing on the side.

And when the time to look into each others eyes and fall in love comes, it's not a desperate attempt on one side to keep the gazing going, counting the seconds down anxiously. It happens naturally during a conversation. Amai is not in a trance of momentary gratitude to be inevitably put out of by a separate person or issue - he's not going anywhere.
