I'm generally having a good time with this new client but I am reaching a moment on this Tuesday afternoon where I really don't want to have to learn about, and then write about, New Jersey's no-fault insurance rules. Fortunately I must go back to putting out fires on the new website we just launched for another client

Cable.
I was 24 and had just been hired as the new Web Copywriter for the Sabah Tourism Board when I first heard the term used.
"Siapa cable ko sini?" One of the tea ladies asked while I was in the pantry introducing myself at lunch.
I must've looked genuinely puzzled that they eventually explained: that most people who ended up hired were usually related to someone in higher positions or on the Board of Directors. So, whose relative was I?
I told them I went to college with the then-Web Developer, and he had forwarded the job vacancy advert to me. I applied just like everybody else, I told them.
I was then told that I was so lucky. Tiada cable pun boleh masuk STB. I later found out that the person they were going to hire was some Datuk's daughter who went to study film in San Francisco.
I told my then-boyfriend (who was a ginormous jerk) that I had felt so lucky to have landed the job over the other girl. He shrugged and said, "You're probably just prettier."
I soon learned what they meant by 'cable'. Almost everyone in the management position was related to a famous political figure. This Datuk's daughter, son, nephew, niece, in-laws, or grandchild. Most had attended private schools like Seri Insan or Maktab Nasional. I once attended a colleague's engagement party at Austral Park -- and later realised that many of them reside in Austral Park.
Man, I thought, am I the only poor person here?
I went on to spend the next decade of my career subtly trying to prove a point: I get hired simply because I am capable, not because of my connections, or lack thereof.
And then, there was the 'pretty' card. Although I wasn't well-connected (not a single Datuk or Tan Sri on my family tree), back then some had argued that I only got hired because I was prettier than the next candidate. I ended up having the biggest impostor syndrome ever, but on the brighter side, it pushed me to work harder.
I understand that life isn't fair. I still grapple with the injustice of the 'cable system' in my cable-riddled work ecosystem. However, don't give up just yet. I still believe that hard work beats cable when cable doesn't work hard (if that even makes sense!). I've been extremely lucky to have landed writing jobs and management positions without a relevant degree or connections. Hard work is all I know.
Today, as a 40-year-old unconnected lady who can only depend on her capabilities and work ethics, I'm glad I had invested in them since young. It's my third time landing in a heavily-rigged employment ecosystem and I've survived (and got confirmed today). Best of all, nobody's going to be able to say that I get anything due to connection or good looks anymore. And damn, does it feel satisfying!
Do I still want to leave? Hell yeah! And the best thing about never having had to rely of cables to get anywhere is knowing that I can thrive even without them.

I am doing my best and I feel freaking good.
I feel very good today.
I've accomplished so many tasks, worked on many projects, developed my skills as a copywriter, learning feedback and also being intuitive with designing.
I am also learning how to have fun and utilize Pomodoro technique in my work.
I also use my time to work very smart and effecient.
Write in my notebooks, watch videos on copywriting, and copy things that resonate with me online.
I also learned a hack on how to craft emails by copying others' work and modifying it.
Steal Like An Artist is a game changer for me.
It taught me to learn from people by copying them.
Not only their contents but how their minds work.
I am open for feedback thru appropriate language.
I'm not even complaining and I'm trying to guess what people have in their minds.
But I also want to impress them.
But yeah, I think moving forward I need to be comfortable with asking people what they want so I can deliver.
I learn so much when I take action and this is basically why I'm so good at copywriting.
I love writing.
It allows me to jot down what I feel.
Dissect what's going in my brain.
And feel whatever emotion I am feeling.
Learning is enjoyable and I am in my learning phase.

hi Hazel, I know you're a journalist, but I hears you have done socials before? do you have any tips on how to get a foot in the door with motorsport socials or broader communications without prior connections? seems like there's so many young girls on twitter who are trying and that's a bit discouraging. there aren't that many roles, are there? :((
hello,
yeah, I worked in social media for a few years between journalism gigs (I sort of thought it might be what I wanted to do but honestly: no)
there are a lot of jobs in motorsport social media. we see primarily the ones for the big F1 teams or whatever but of course that’s not where a lot of people start and for instance, most sponsors will want social content related to the team they work with over a race weekend, even within the F1 environment. and of course, across media there are lots of sports social media jobs including F1 and then the championship itself. then when you think across wider motorsport like endurance and junior categories and Formula E and IndyCar.... there are a lot more roles than you’d think. oh and then the broadcasters... you get the idea, there’s a bunch of places.
idk how much NDA-bustoing trouble I’m likely to get in for saying this but I used to work for a supplier to an F1 team and then for the championship itself on social stuff. prior to that, I’d worked on social for Netflix and the BBC, so I wasn’t coming in as a rookie, which certainly helped. for the past two years I was also the racefanslive livetweeter, although I’m not anymore.
social media takes the form of lots of things, now. so you need to decide what aspect of the job you want to work in; are you a graphic designer, someone who can put together genius TikToks, someone who can present on social, copywriter, a producer, a strategist, etc?
some roles will require you to be an all-rounder and it’s good to have basic skills across it all but when you’re looking to develop a portfolio, that’s something to think about. do you have a TikTok full of awesome bits of presentation? can you make a show reel? are your gifs and edits super beautiful? are you an illustrator, you get what I mean.
one of the reasons “getting into social” can seem hard is because “getting into social” is about as vague as “getting into F1″ - like what, you’re gonna be a driver or a mechanic or? likewise, you need to work out what you want to do and then show that you can do it.
a good way to gain experience is by, basically, doing some stuff. I realise that sounds incredibly stupid but basically: start making things you think you’d like to make for a job. you don’t need to do a ton, just put a few bits together, put it on a professional instagram as reels and posts and saved stories and so you’ve got somewhere to point to if you get an opportunity, to say what you can do.
Twitter is less useful, professionally speaking but it’s also worth, for instance, making an account and doing some basic, clear livetweeting of a specific event. let’s say the Rome Eprix because I don’t livetweet F1 but I can talk about livetweeting FE.
one of the worst things people do with livetweeting is either decontextualised information (”Ricciardo has come into the pits” ok but when and why) or unclear information that doesn’t fit the character limit. I don’t think I’m very good at a lot of social stuff anymore but I am really good at livetweeting (I used to do so much of it, professionally speaking) and so I am gonna use myself as an example here. here’s my thread from the first time the format was run - it’s pretty simple because I didn’t have any imagery but it gets across the information you need about what cars are through and who’s beaten who. that’s a skill worth practicing and also something it’s worth showing you can do, when you’re applying for roles.
beyond that it’s a case of making sure you keep your eyes open for opportunities. whether that’s getting involved with formulastudent and becoming a producer for the teams or just going out and making content, having a portfolio is incredibly important. then keep watch on things like Motorsport Jobs (you can set up a job alert) and follow and pay attention to people at agencies that work in motorsport, so that you’re aware of opportunities coming up. that’s places like Influence Associates, Re:Volution, Crunch, Veloce, Edelman, 115dgrs, etc.
also I know everyone thinks Tumblr content is for some reason verboten but if you make good memes on here that aren’t too obscene, for the love of god put them in your portfolio. if you make beautiful, hi-res gifs and clips then for the love of god put them in your portfolio. your edits? portfolio. some of the highest-quality and most standout work in motorsport is on here with people hiding it - ok, don’t send in your explicit fanart or whatever but there are so many beautiful edits on here which would look so immediately eye-catching to a team or broadcaster.
if you message me off anon I can reply privately with a friend who runs an motorsport social media agency and often has entry-level work going/would be willing to offer experience. she always pays, although it may only be sporadic work at first.

hi jyn! do you have any advice for someone who wants to get into fic writing? i've been a reader of squalor for a long time and i want to write my own stuff but i'm not sure where to start. any advice would be much appreciated! love your blog!!
Anonymous said: hi hi! I have been living the reader insert side of tumblr lately and really want to start up a blog that does the same type of thing, do you have any tips or tricks on getting your writing seen or venturing into this new territory? I’m just afraid I won’t be welcomed into the community y’all have built >< :(
                                          ..................
Hello, sweet friends!
I apologize for the delayed response on these two asks. I’ve kept you both in mind and jotted down some notes over the past couple of weeks. <3
While I’ve worked in copywriting, content writing, and technical writing, my foray into fiction is extremely recent—until this February, I’d not written a scrap of it since I was in elementary school. I may not be the best person to ask for advice on developing expansive narratives or elaborate plots, but when it comes to getting started on shorter-form fanfiction, I would suggest focusing on the following:
Define your characters
Before you open up your ask box to the world, decide which characters you’ll write for and why. Write it down. What compels you to write for each of them? It’s a great opportunity to briefly explore your relationship with the character, and can serve as a sort of ‘guiding light’ to return to when you’re feeling stumped or uninspired. If you feel ‘meh’ about your reason for writing a certain character, consider if you really, really want to include them... or if you feel obligated to. First and foremost, you’re writing for yourself—because you enjoy it!
Flesh out headcanons for each of your characters. For example: What are their specific turn-ons? What do they call you? You could snag a smutty ask meme or the NSFW and fill it out for each character in your writing notes—you’ll start to see a more fully-developed, well-rounded image of them by the time you’re through. Consider how your narrative voice might change with each character, too.
Writing tips ‘n’ shit
Show; don’t tell. How can you communicate what’s happening in a scene without giving a court secretary’s transcript of the events?
Let your reader imagine things. Creating a rich, immersive environment is great, but don’t worry about describing the color of the upholstery of every single chair in a room unless it’s critical to the scene. Our brains are pros at filling in the gaps with our own detail. They have fun with that shit.
Make sure your smut is, like, literally… physically... possible. Yeah.
Evocative and interesting language is fun to read; flowery, flourishy language… not so much. Trim down your dialogue tags and adverbs where you can. They get cumbersome. Write the way you talk. It’ll sound more natural; I promise.
It’s good to keep your syntax at least somewhat corralled, but do feel free to play around with your semantics a little… as a treat. Fiction is supposed to be fun. Well, I think it is, at least.
Really think about what you’re saying implicitly
Reader-insert is a great exercise; you have the opportunity to flex your creative writing muscle without overtly describing reader-chan’s physical attributes… but sometimes *gasp* it sneaks in!
One way I see this pop up SO frequently in smut pertains to assumed whiteness/thinness. Consider the following (intentionally exaggerated) statements:
“Oh no you got the worst sunburn!”
“Your butt turned bright red after the spanking!!”
“Your cheeks were pink with embarrassment!!”
“He ran his fingers through your long, silky-smooth hair!!!”
“He threw you over his shoulder like you weighed nothing at all!!!”
Without ~literally~ saying any of it, you already know reader-chan is 1) white or light-skinned, 2) someone who does not have a coarse/kinky/natural hair texture, and 3) relatively thin and/or small.
If you’re a white and/or thin author, there is nothing wrong with writing a character who can sunburn or be swept off their feet—but acknowledge that using these signifiers for reader-chan is effectively communicating who you believe your ‘default audience’ ought to be… and alienating everyone else.
I also fully realize that almost all M/F fics assume reader-chan is abled, generally heterosexual, cisgender, and at least somewhat femme-presenting—which I don’t mean to neglect in conversation, and am always open to chatting about if you’d like to.
Bloggie tings
Be extremely diligent in tagging your work with CWs and/or TWs. The only way people can avoid triggering content is by filtering out Tumblr tags and checking those lists before starting a fic. It’s a courtesy, but an imperative one!
Use Tumblr tags so folx can find your stuff! I believe the most common are: character x reader, character x you, character/reader, character/you, and character + fanfic/fluff/smut/etc.
Remember that the value lies in your creative efforts, not in the external validation you get.
Writing something because you’re passionate and excited and you have an idea bouncing around in your head that just neeeeeds to get out? That shit matters. It matters regardless of whether or not you publish it, whether five or fifteen or five-thousand interact with it. Your work still has value.
Join Discord servers and make some writer/reader pals! I met many of my bloggie friends through Discord, and I’m SO grateful for it. I just made a server if you’d like to say hi!
I hope some of this is helpful and relevant to what you’d like to do. All my love and best wishes! xoxoxo

I am a single.......hopelessly single female who has spent enough time developing her career who really wants to meet a man who loves and adores her. sadly, I feel like I lack the skills at this point in my life and I'm more than intimidated by the whole process. The second breakthrough tip is Why some client's problems might seem impossible to solve to the untrained eye... But TIDRI® certified coaches have no trouble dealing with challenges even from the most difficult clients. Even 1000 of unsolved problems coaches of TIDRI will provide super solutions The third breakthrough tip is The #1 secret to create a lasting impact for anyone who wants it. It's so simple yet most coaches don't install in their clients this secret, and if left unattended, will cause the same problems to arise once again. Make a permanent change with everyone you work with.
The fourth breakthrough tip is The ultimate truth of dating that most don't want to know or admit. Once you grasp this understanding about people you will be amazed at the number of opportunities at your fingertips!
And the final breakthrough tip is that Don't leave yourself hanging without this lightbulb in your back pocket. People who are in THIS situation are prime for your coaching, and if tapped properly, then you've just opened the flood gates of high-paying clients. Dating coaches offer a wide range of services, such as electronic books and newsletters, personal coaching, small group seminars, and weekend workshops What a dating coach can and can't do... It's hard to be objective in one's own life. A coach's job is to help you manage any dating related anxiety and fear everyone has a blind spot in dating and we do things that may come across differently than we intended, A dating coach can speak patterns that are not in alignment with the clients dating and relationships vision and guide the client back onto the path. Where their greatest level of happiness will be found Through discussion, role-playing, behavior, modeling, and other forms of direction,a dating coach trains clients to meet and attract romantic partners One on one coaching can involve counseling and field coach, which can involve practicing or going out with a coach of the sex. How to avoid being another average dating coach with little to no long-term results, and instead become a dating coach that your clients love and continue to come back to... The most cutting-edge, revolutionary dating coaching course designed to get you results (and a special opportunity for you!) How to use the 5 breakthrough tips to help people — to know someone is having a better life because of you — and how to make a difference in people's lives, and ultimately in your own life. Once you and your dating coach have a good sense of your strengths and “growth opportunities” we'll take a look at what you're actually doing to meet people and attract a healthy new relationship into your life.
Again, our approach here is holistic: We're not just about online dating. We help you identify and expand on every strategy to connect with others, both in person, through your social networks, and online dating platforms.
We'll discuss everything from how you first connect with people, to the messages you send to others (both intentionally, and unintentionally) through all forms of communication. Your dating coach can help you establish a positive personal brand, enhance your communication skills, distinguish promising new connections from potentially problematic ones, and move a new relationship forward with confidence and competence. Additionally, we can help you with the nuts and bolts of modern dating, helping you with everything from copywriting a great online profile, to choosing the best photos, to setting up your online dating accounts on a variety of platforms. You might even consider taking advantage of our dating admin services to help you manage your profile maintenance, correspondence, and scheduling. Once you and your dating coach develop a clear plan of action, the work shifts to support you in following through with things and helping you refine your strategy as you learn more. You and your dating coach will evaluate the results of your actions, and decide what changes to make in your approach. You'll also have guidance and support if you do meet someone with potential, as you negotiate the often confusing first stages of early romantic love. We can help you build a healthy new relationship, and avoid many of the potential pitfalls that can derail a budding romance. You Can Find The Love You're Looking For The modern dating scene is challenging for everyone. And it is also true that people fall madly in love and launch a lifetime of love together all the time. You see the engagement posts, right? What is NOT obvious to the casual observer on social media is how people are actually creating their success. Dating coaching is a billion-dollar industry… that few people who've benefitted from it talk about. What is not openly discussed (but is definitely privately happening) is that many people who have been successful in modern dating had the behind-the-scenes support of a great dating coach. You deserve the same advantage.

The Ink Demonth 1
@halfusek created this thing called The Ink Demonth. And since it reminded me of BATIM Inktober, which I really enjoyed, I thought I’d do it.
Day 1 is Music
--------------------------------------------------------
Jack had basically stumbled into songwriting. He felt pretty bad about that, especially since Sammy lived and breathed music. He’d been that way ever since he and Jack had been kids. Sammy’s mother loved to tell stories about how Sammy as a toddler had stumbled up to the piano and started banging away at the keys. They’d always known he was going to go into some career involving music. Jack had been a little different. He liked writing, poetry especially, but he didn’t exactly have the same passion for it that Sammy did for music.
Jack loved Sammy. The other boy was his best friend, practically his brother. But he couldn’t help but be jealous of him sometimes. Sammy had a forceful personality, big dreams, and a drive that was second to none. Compared to him, Jack was rather...bland. Then again, though, Sammy had always been considered peculiar by many others. But people remembered Sammy.
It was easy to forget Jack, even when he was right in front of you. He was quiet, keeping to himself most of the time. He didn’t start fights unless someone was threatening Sammy. He was always scribbling something in his notebook. He wasn’t entirely sure how he could transfer his scribblings into a career, though.
“I just don’t know what I’m gonna do with my life.” He groaned. He and Sammy were in Sammy’s treehouse, avoiding Sammy’s little sister. Sammy was tuning his banjo, which he wasn’t supposed to have in the treehouse, while Jack laid on the floor. His notebook was on his chest and his pencil was clamped between his teeth. He liked to chew on it when he was thinking.
“We’re 12, we have time,” Sammy replied, not even looking up from his instrument.
“I know, but you already know you’re gonna do something with music.” Jack waved his hand in a wide stroke. “But what am I gonna do?”
“We’ve got time,” Sammy repeated, rolling his eyes. “Dad says no one stays the same forever. I might not be a musician.” Jack sat up, giving him an incredulous look. He gestured to the banjo, then to the numerous other instruments strewn across the treehouse.
“Okay, fine.” Sammy avoided his gaze, his cheeks turning red. “But still. No one stays the same forever. You’ll find something you wanna do.”
“But what if I end up doing something I hate?” Jack flopped back down. “I don’t wanna end up working at a bank and being miserable like Mr. Perkins.” Sammy put down his banjo, dragging Jack up and putting his hands on his shoulders.
“Jack.” His expression was grave. “I am never letting you end up like Mr. Perkins.”
“Really?” Jack asked quietly.
“Really.” Sammy nodded, his face screwed up with determination. “You’re my friend and I’m not gonna let you be alone and miserable.” Jack couldn’t help but smile. He always felt better knowing that Sammy had his back.
They drifted apart after they graduated from high school. Sammy, predictably, went off into a career in music. Jack ended up as a copywriter. It wasn’t a bad job, but Jack wasn’t exactly happy with it. He certainly wasn’t miserable, but he didn’t have the best life either. He was just sort of...coasting by. Then Sammy had called to say that he had a job for him. Despite not knowing what the job was, Jack immediately accepted. He quit his job and moved to New York to follow Sammy. Sammy was waiting at the airport to pick him up.
“I didn’t think you’d just drop everything to come here.” Sammy laughed as he took a few of Jack’s bags.
“Yeah, well, I wasn’t exactly happy.” Jack shrugged. Sammy’s expression softened.
“It’s good to see you, Jack.” He put a hand on his friend’s back.
“It’s good to see you too.” Jack smiled back.
Together, they took Jack’s luggage to Sammy’s car and headed to Sammy’s apartment. They’d agreed that Jack would stay with him until he found an apartment of his own. On the way, Sammy filled him in on what he was doing now. Jack was honestly rather impressed. He’d seen the Bendy cartoons once or twice. It was amazing to think Sammy had contributed to that.
“So, what is this job, anyway?” Jack asked as they carried his bags up to the apartment. “I never really asked.”
“You’ll be working with me,” Sammy said. “Writing lyrics for my songs.”
“Lyrics?” Jack frowned. “I thought your songs didn’t need lyrics.”
“Joey’s developing a new character. She’s going to sing.” There was a quality of awe in Sammy’s voice.
“Oh really?” A mischevious smile spread across Jack’s face. “Are you excited about the character? Or the person playing her?” Sammy went bright red and almost dropped the suitcases he’d be carrying.
“T-The character!” He sputtered. “Just come on!” Jack’s smile widened, but he said nothing else.
Working at Joey Drew Studios turned out to be like no job Jack had ever had before. Writing the lyrics was simple enough, but the people there...They were all rather strange. Especially Joey himself. Everyone seemed to have some sort of quirk that made them different from others Jack had interacted with. But he liked most of them. They all seemed like lovely people. Except maybe Joey. But he liked working with Sammy. He liked working with Susie.
He finally felt like he understood what Sammy felt like. Sammy had said once that music flowed through his veins. That he heard music even when he was sleeping. Working in Joey Drew Studios with Sammy, Jack finally felt like he understood that. He finally felt connected to music.

An (Almost) Perfect Step Copywriting Formula | World Class Copywriting
In my opinion, the simplest definition of Direct Response Copywriting is writing that SELLS.   It persuades someone to require an instantaneous and specific action.   An action which will be TESTED, PERFECTED, then SCALED to maximize conversions and profits.   It relies on the time-tested, proven techniques of master salesmanship to push the emotional hot buttons of your target audience…   Ultimately, to cause a burning desire to possess what you're selling.   You want your copy to be sort of a master salesperson who grabs your prospect’s full attention and holds it while telling an exciting story of your product or service…   … and why they have it immediately, explaining intimately everything they’ll be missing out on if they wait.   The Secret To Sales Success Above all, to maximize your sales and profits, you MUST…   Target the proper market Create the proper offer for that market Deliver the proper sales message thereto market If you're missing any of these three success ingredients…   … then your business goes to soon get on life-support or worse.   On the opposite hand…   With the proper Message… Matched With the proper Offer… Delivered To the proper Market… There Is NO LIMIT To The Success you'll Attain!!! So, how does one get these three crucial ingredients right?   You do this through careful research. stepping into the heads of your potential customers and knowing what their most urgent WANTS, NEEDS, DESIRES and PROBLEMS are.   Then you approach them from an area of EMPATHY – walking in their shoes and legitimately caring about helping them.   Also, it’s CRUCIAL to know we BUY ON EMOTION then rationalize the choice to shop for with logic we bend to suit our needs.   By going to know your prospects and what's most vital to them, especially something they're either so hooked in to or UPSET that they can’t even sleep at night…   … you'll know exactly which EMOTIONAL HOT BUTTONS to push to urge them to form an instantaneous decision to shop for.   This is what I do with my all of my copywriting. Whether i'm writing an immediate mail sales letter, online sales page, print or online advertorial, email or VSL (video sales letter) i'm creating a sales message that…   **** Addresses what’s most vital to the prospect   **** Answers all of their objections or concerns   **** Allows them the chance to shop for so as to unravel a pressing problem or fulfill a fanatical desire.   As A World-Renowned Direct Response Copywriter… I have written powerful direct response sales copy for clients during a big variety of markets Direct Response Copywriting, including:   Online Education Health Supplements Information Publishers SAAS Martial Arts/Self Defense Weight Loss Skin Care Male Sexual Health Live Seminars Software Developers Insurance Agencies Christian Education Life Coaches and Consultants Real Estate and lots of, many more. I’ve enjoyed much success and had the incredible satisfaction of watching my clients grow their business faster than many ever dreamed possible.   I don’t tell you this to brag, but to assure you I even have A level of experience and proven diary you'll trust. My goal for each client that hires me is to write down powerful sales copy that will…   **** Maximize Every Dollar You Spend On Marketing and Advertising…   **** Persuade Existing Customers To Spend MORE Money…   **** Revitalize “Dead Leads” Into RED-HOT Prospects…   **** Convert “Lookers” and “Procrastinators” Into IMMEDIATE Buyers… Now, before you contact me, I’m getting to do something VERY contrarian to what most freelance direct response copywriters would ever do and admit that…   I Am Not Always the proper Direct Response Copywriter for everybody Who Wants to rent Me… Wait, what? You’re probably wondering why the heck i might say that.   Well, the reality is i'm EXTREMELY picky about who I combat as clients and only want absolutely the absolute best matches for my style and lifestyle to contact me.   Yeah, meaning i'd close up many potential business and that’s okay because honestly i'm within the enviable position of not needing clients as I even have separate business ventures that are quite successful.   So, why am I even trying to find clients at all? It’s because i actually LOVE copywriting and there's nothing more rewarding to me than working with an excellent client who appreciates what I do, and that i can help succeed.   When I find one among those perfect clients, there's no better experience within the world on behalf of me than using my copywriting abilities to create their business empire.   I learned the hard way that working with a “less than ideal” client are often among the foremost miserable experiences in life. So I now carefully curate those that I combat as copywriting clients.   Another reason i'm so picky about who i select to figure with is that I literally only have time to require on one client project per month so for time restraint reasons it just is sensible to ONLY work with an ideal client match. top shelf tea time for @zedsdead1001. prompt: terrible office party.
the worst office parties weren’t the holiday ones. it was the monthly meetings that were dubbed by management as the “monthly mingles”. they were two hours long on every first friday of the month where shitty sandwiches would be catered from the same shitty sandwich shop from the same shitty strip mall and delivered to be eaten by the same shitty group of people every time. then, they’d all listen to a shitty seminar that was just rehashed from the past three shitty meetings while changing the message just enough to keep some of the slower shitty employees engaged. they were awful. fucking ludicrous. and levi had wasted thirty-two hours of his life to these shitty, terrible, awful fucking “parties”.
he remained at his desk until the rest of the cubicles emptied, fingers still dancing across the keys until the account manager with the bad knee limped past. that was his cue to save his files and join the masses, feigned interest and all.
his feet didn’t quite lift as he shuffled down the low-pile carpet toward the large conference room. the shades had been drawn, and all the nice plush chairs at the table had been taken by the girls in copywriting, bright smiles with teeth like sharks, crowded around the upper management like barnacles to a rock. the rest of the departments took on straggling plastic chairs around the perimeter or sat on the floor with paper plates in their hand and plastic cups between their feet.
levi went to the small table set up outside of the conference room and piled a plate full of iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes, and house dressing. he grabbed a fork and napkin and made to turn for the conference room door, his head down and focused on his meal--his typical monthly mingle feast.
“oh! watch out!” a voice said, and levi looked up just in time to strafe out of the way of the towering man in front of him. “i’m sorry!” he clambered, his plate full of chips that flew up and landed back down onto it as if he were sauteing them in a pan. “i didn’t see you there, you’re just so...”
“you new here?” levi cut him off, his neck cracking to the side. he didn’t look up into the man’s face.
“yeah. been here a week.” the man shook his wrist and the chips shuffled across his plate with a gentle scrape. “i’m an account manager.”
“they call them ‘client asskissers’ here.”
“do they--”
“no.” levi speared a fork full of lettuce and shoved it in his mouth as he walked past the man and into the conference room. he took up his spot in the corner, the one that people seemed to always respect every month as being his corner, and stood and ate his food as the room chattered away.
“so how long have you been here?”
levi was half way through his salad, nearly losing his grip on his plate as he jumped at the interruption. he wasn’t the type to talk to his coworkers, and they weren’t the type to talk to him. he prepared his best resting-bitch-face he could and peered up at his new source of office annoyance. “oh...” he sputtered, taking to looking back down at his plate. his thumb ran along the fold of the paper plate as he tried to remind himself that he doesn’t like his coworkers--no matter how attractive they may be. “uh... a little over a year.” he picked up his fork again and shoved some in his mouth, the crunching ringing through his head and drowning out the next question directed his way. he swallowed and turned his head slightly, still refusing to look up. “what was that?”
“turn over high here?” the man said, soft enough that it was drowned out by the chatter in the room.
“very.” levi said quietly.
his new friend nodded and rested his shoulders against the wall. he popped a potato chip into his mouth and chewed slowly with his mouth shut. it was as if he was trying to keep as quiet as possible. “i figured. i just need something right now until i can get myself back into a smaller firm.” he cleaned his fingers on the napkin on his plate and reached over to levi. “erwin. and you are?”
levi shrugged, ignoring the hand for long enough that erwin put his back down. “levi. i’m in development.”
“oh yeah? that’s interesting. that involves a lot of math, right?”
“yeah.”
“i did well enough in math. not my favorite thing, however.”
levi shifted, rolled his eyes with a soft huff. “yeah.”
“i apologize; am i bothering you?”
the edges of levi’s lips twitched. “yeah.”
erwin hummed. “that wasn’t my intention.”
“you always this polite?”
this was reciprocated with a laugh so genuine and loud that it made levi blush a little. “oh? oh, yes. i suppose. my father always told me that words were what built lasting impressions.”
“you should be a copywriter then,” levi shifted and found it a little easier to trail his eyes up erwin. he was wearing a white dress shirt under a tan vest. his tie was red with embroidered polka dots. far overdressed for the business casual company. “probably better than kissing ass all day.”
“people interest me.” erwin said with almost a bit of awe in his tone. “i like to figure them out, as well as their needs. i want to help people.”
“you’re looking in the wrong place.” levi finally matched eyes with erwin and he held the breath in his chest when he noticed how blue they were--how hollow but intense--how stupidly fucking beautiful. god dammit.
“these people’s businesses are important to them--it’s their lively hood, levi. every business is a new puzzle to be solved.”
“christ, you’re over the top aren’t you?”
another laugh.
“a little perhaps, yes.”
levi looked down at his plate. two small piece of lettuce remained. a cherry tomato. his stomach roiled but not in the shitty way, but he still felt a need to go to the bathroom. “i gotta take a shit.”
“the meeting is going to start soon.” erwin said, not even missing a beat.
“that’s the point.”
fuck, even his smile was sexy. levi’s jaw set as he told himself that there’s no way a guy like this could be into other guys. he was probably as straight as a ruler and as long as a yard stick.
that thought didn’t help the discomfort in his stomach.
“can i come with you?” erwin said softly.
“uh, what?” levi looked up at him with a raised eyebrow. “no? you fuckin’ weirdo?”
“i know what these meetings are all about. i’d rather play hooky too.” he smiled down at levi, and levi thought for a moment he’d gone crazy and imagined that erwin was... blushing?
levi chewed on nothing before shrugging. “sure, whatever.” he kicked off the wall and left through the conference room door, tall blond account manager on his heels. he dropped his plate into the garbage can next to the catering table and made his way out toward the bathrooms, again, his tall shadow still intact.
“oh, you weren’t kidding.” erwin said when they made it to the bathroom.
“i was a little.” levi leaned on the sink counter and folded his arms. “there’s no cameras in here, and they all think i have IBS.”
“do you?”
“that’s confidential.” levi couldn’t help but grin and chuckle a little at his own joke. “you gotta make up your own shit or i’ll kill you.”
erwin put a hand to his lips to hide his smile. he nodded. “maybe i have to piss a lot from all the coffee i drink.”
“gross.” levi muttered.
“what?”
“you drink coffee?”
they both laugh. erwin took a step closer, and it forced levi to stand up straighter against the sink. his heart thumped once before he swallowed it back down. erwin looked down on him, his shoulders relaxing and is hands finding their way into his slack’s pockets. “you don’t like coffee?”
“i like tea.”
erwin pursed his lips and nodded. his smile touched his eyes, and somehow it made the blue of them even more thrilling and beautiful. levi shifted again, trying not to think about yardsticks and well tailored pants. “you should show me what kind you like after work today.”
levi wheezed and dragged his eyes down to erwin’s chest as he breathed in sharply. was this fucking happening? on this shitty day of shit inside of the shitter--was this tall fucking shit actually asking him out on a shitty date? holy. shit.
“unless of course, you’re busy,” erwin added, shifting to the side and looking out toward the exit of the bathroom. “or taken.” he added after.
holy shit.
“n-n-no. i’m not...” levi croaked. “either. i’m not either of those... uh... things.”
erwin looked back at him and smiled brighter--his teeth showing. “lovely. i’ll see you at five, then. allow me to leave you be while you,” he looked levi up and down before chuckling once more, “relieve yourself.” his dress shoes clacked against the bathroom floor as he left, hands still tucked inside of his pants, his ass hugging the fabric like it was part of his fucking skin.
levi blinked and slumped against the sink. if he didn’t just shit out his heart there on the bathroom floor, he didn’t know what the fuck just happened.

This is the result of both @funkzpiel and I discussing an AU where Percival and Theseus decide to retire from Auror-ing and take up teaching positions at Hogwarts - and me wanting to get some practice in with InDesign and copywriting.
I’m actually really happy with the results!
Full Interview if it’s not visible in the pics:
What made you both decide on the career change?
P: Theseus.
T. I’m very persuasive. But seriously, it was time for a change. You reach a point in your life where you’ve got to look at yourself and think - ‘am I happy to keep on this path, or is it time to move on to something else. And the both of us ended up coming to the conclusion that it really was time to move on. I think I speak for the Percival and I when I say that we’ve got every faith in the aurors that took over our positions. The safety of Britain and America are still in very safe hands.
P: Absolutely.
How are you settling into life at Hogwarts?
P: It’s just a different kind of chaos really. But I’m enjoying it.
T: It’s really good to get back to the school. I love London, but it’s nice to get fresh air into your lungs.
Is teaching coming naturally to you, or are you finding it a struggle?
P: It’s actually not all that different. When you become a senior auror, mentoring less experienced members of the team is part of the job. Actually it’s the part I enjoyed most - so taking the responsibility fulltime has been really enjoyable. Also, being director, you end up gaining a lot of experience in managing large groups of people. So it’s not been too steep a learning curve.
T: What he said.
P: The kids are a bit more sensible at times, actually.
T: [laughing] Again, what he said.
Theseus, the kids have to be excited to have a verified war hero as their DADA teacher.
T: They seem to be. It’s not all that relevant to what I’m teaching them - with them being schoolkids an all. But it seems to have given me a degree of credibility and when working with teenagers, who’s going to complain about that?
Actually you’re both beyond qualified for the position of DADA teacher. Was there a competition for the spot between you?
T: Not really. I mean, I’m the obvious choice at the end of the day, aren’t I?
P: And so modest about it too. Initially we were both interested in the position, but Transfiguration always been the branch of magic that’s captured my interest. When I was offered that position I took it.
T: When you put it like that it sounds like you let me have the DADA spot.
P: I’ll let people draw their own conclusions.
If you had the choice, is there another subject you’d be interested in teaching?
T: Divination!
P: Divination?
T: I’d be a fantastic Divination teacher. The kids wouldn’t learn anything, but we’d have a tonne of fun.
P: Mercy Lewis. I’m quite happy with Transfiguration. DADA I suppose, if this one’s going to go off juggling crystal balls.
You weren’t interested in teaching at your old school, Percival?
P: It wasn’t really a conscious choice. The situation just developed organically. Like I said, Theseus was the one to convince me to think about the career change. I was in London at the time. While I was considering it he mentioned that there were a couple of positions available at Hogwarts, we enquired, got the job - here we are. It wasn’t a matter of me picking one school over the other.
So you don’t feel like you’re being disloyal to Illvermorny?
P: Only about as disloyal as Illvermorny’s current principal, who’s quite proudly Scottish. Or my old Charms teacher, and Herbology teacher, and head of house actually. All of which came from other schools and countries. I don’t consider it an act of disloyalty or a slight on Illvermorny my working at another school and I doubt most people do.
As you didn’t attend as a child, did you have to get sorted?
T: He did!
P: Some of us were more enthusiastic about it than others. I’m sure your next question will be what house - Hufflepuff.
That had to come as a shock
P: Not particularly. The house champions values that I’ve held in high-esteem throughout my life. Hard-work, loyalty, fairplay. I don’t understand why the house gets such a bad rep to be honest. So no, I wasn’t shocked. I was actually quite happy with the placement.
You were a Wampus initially though, yes?
P: Yes, but I was also 11 when I was sorted. A lot has happened over the years, and these days I respect hard work a lot more than just rushing into situations.
T: He’s grown out of that.
P: You have not.
T: Guilty
Do you think your time at the hands of Gellert Grindelwald played a part in this change of character?
P: Very likely, yes. It’s not something that you just bounce back from unscathed. And still immensely unpleasant to think about, so if you don’t mind I’d like not to talk about that.
Last question - what are your plans for the future?
T: Well, Pup here is going to be Head of House in no time - the way he’s going. Chap’s been championing the house harder than anyone, really boosting the kids up. It’s nice to see, to be honest.
P: I’m definitely not looking to go anywhere any time soon. We’re both enjoying the roles, the kids are beyond talented and fun to work with, no need to look further afield right now.
T: What he said.
You both talk like either way you go - it’s going to be a package deal. You both stay or you both go.
T: That’s pretty much it, yeah. We make a good team, always have. And now our responsibilities aren’t on separate sides of an ocean I personally don’t have any interest in breaking up the team again.
P: My thoughts exactly.

South Dakota is taking a stand against the use of methamphetamine — but their efforts have not gone over very well.
On Monday, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem announced the launch of her anti-meth campaign titled “Meth: We’re On It,” which is designed to tackle the state’s growing meth crisis and prevent it from affecting future generations.
The campaign, which reportedly cost close to $500,000 to develop and launch, has already been promoted across the state through television advertisements, billboards, posters and a website, Argus Leader reports.
Governor Noem was also featured in a public service announcement video, where she called on South Dakota residents to get involved by helping those who struggle with meth addiction and preventing it from affecting their community further.
“South Dakota’s meth crisis is growing at an alarming rate. It impacts every community in our state, and it threatens the success of the next generation,” Noem says. “This is our problem and together, we need to get on it.”
“If you see something happening or you know of someone who needs help, call 1-800-920-4343 or go to onmeth.com,” she continues. “Let’s get meth out of South Dakota.”

However, Noem’s efforts did not appear to be well received by many Twitter users, who mocked the campaign’s title.
“My home state just announced a new drug awareness campaign,” wrote one user. “Yes this is real and yes the state spent nearly half a million dollars on it.”
“it’s a proud day to be south dakotan, apparently,” added the user. “or an embarrassing one, depending on your perspective.”

“For half the cost of this campaign I will develop an even better slogan: ‘Drugs. Hell yeah,'” joked another person.
“I didn’t think this was a real ad from the South Dakota Department of Social Services. But it is,” tweeted someone else.
“Meth is trending. Perhaps not a great sign South Dakota,” wrote one user.
“I love that they trademarked it. Don’t worry, South Dakota, no one’s going to take your slogan,” quipped another person.

Others, meanwhile, supported the state for doing exactly what they set out to do: start a conversation.
“I hope you’ve all figured out that South Dakota‘s ad agency knows exactly what it’s doing and you’re giving them the attention they wanted? (If their slogan had been of the “Don’t do meth; it’s bad for you” ilk literally no one would be aware of SD’s anti-meth campaign today.)” wrote one user.
“South Dakota is running a brilliant campaign imo. Playing it safe would’ve been forgettable, but their ads have us talking. For the most part people only talk about things they either love or hate. No one talks about the restaurant that was “okay”. There’s power in polarity,” noted someone else.
“Laugh all you want but it got everyone talking about South Dakota‘s drug problem,” pointed out another user.
Hey Twitter, the whole point of this ad campaign is to raise awareness. So I think that’s working… #thanks #MethWeAreOnIt

Despite the criticism received over the internet, Governor Noem and her office stood by the controversial campaign.
In a statement to PEOPLE, Noem’s press secretary Kristin Wileman said that the campaign’s goal was to “raise awareness” and “get people talking” — both of which were “working.”
“South Dakota’s anti-meth campaign launch is sparking conversations around the state and the country,” she said. “The mission of the campaign is to raise awareness – to get people talking about how they can be part of the solution and not just the problem. It is working.”
“Through this campaign, we hope to emphasize that this is an issue that affects all of us. It’s critical that fighting meth and extending hope to users becomes part of any daily conversation,” Wileman went on. “This isn’t just someone else’s problem. It’s OUR problem. And we need to do something about it – as communities, neighbors, church groups, schools, volunteer groups and more.”
“This is a bold, innovative effort like the nation has never before seen. Over the next few weeks, this campaign will operate through various mediums to educate every person across South Dakota on signs of addiction, resources available to combat addiction, and strategies to engage communities in recovery,” she added. “I am confident South Dakota can lead the country in this effort and demonstrate ways we can aggressively combat addiction and spark opportunities for recovery.”

Mich’s 25th Tell-All
I just turned 25 last month, and to be honest, it’s been the most stressful and anxiety-induced birthday EVER.
Well probably because I’m now officially into the mid-twenties category, and with that, I feel like there’s an automatic pressure of having to have it all figured out by this age. And of course, I don’t have it all figured out. Which then makes me so anxious and frightened weeks prior to my birthday.
But then I eventually turned 25. And I mean, it wasn’t that bad. I think, in general, I just became more reflective on life and I’ve really begun to find more substance into most of what forms me as me -- my faith, my career, my relationships, my mental health, myself.
My self.
So here I am, about to write down all my thoughts, fears, and hopes into this blog that I’ve had as an outlet for YEARS. Hoping that this would at least help me ease my mind and my heart even just for a tad bit.
Career
I’m now almost 3 years into my company, and man is it quite a rollercoaster ride. I’ve formed impressive work ethics here and I’ve really developed into someone that I never thought I could possibly become. From a regular copywriter, I’m now a Content Team Lead. It wasn’t easy getting here. I actually kinda had to be a little bit brave in order for me to be promoted. But regardless, hey (look, ma) I made it. This is the company where I’ve stayed the longest thus far. And I don’t think I’ll stay here this long if not for the unusual yet cool setup we have (stay-in and work from home privileges, time to time trips to Singapore and other countries as well, etc.) But I think more than that, what really made me stay here this long is the people. Cheesy but true. I’ve found real, good friends here. And the team’s got this insane potential that I just can’t let go of because doing so is like letting go of amazing possible opportunities.
But I’d be lying if I say that I haven’t thought of leaving. I actually have. Twice. But then, whenever I get into that mindset of having to look for another job, something good happens at my company. Just how I was looking for other jobs when we suddenly had a trip to Bali which made me re-think my choices and I think I’m gonna stay here a bit more. :P
Mental Health
My mental health is something that I’ve been (slowly but surely) opening up to people. Mainly because I realized that there really are people who are willing to help me out and listen to me, and all I needed to do is to reach out. And so I did. And now I can say that I’ve never had such an amazing support system in my life. I was actually fine when 2019 began, I had an amazing therapist, I knew how to handle my anxiety, I was learning how to handle my emotions, everything seemed bearable. Because of that, I realized that I might not need to go to my therapy regularly. Eventually, I stopped going at all. Everything was still a-okay. Until my recent attack, a few weeks after my birthday.
That’s when I realised the importance of ACTUALLY COMPLETING YOUR THERAPY because a relapse can happen anytime. And now, it’s hard for me to schedule a session with my therapist because my slot’s been taken. Lesson learned.
Relationships
As I’ve previously mentioned, I made an effort this year to actively reach out to people and be more open. Majority of that are my friends. Both old and new. I’ve re-connected and connected.
February of this year I gained new friends, thanks to my new church. Haha. And up until today, this set of church friends is continually expanding. It’s a bit of a challenge to my introvert self, but I’m loving it nevertheless.
I also almost fell in love.
Emphasis on the “almost” haha. This is probably a huge twist to my year, I must say. I wasn’t expecting this to happen, much more, I wasn’t expecting who the guy would be. (I just literally did a facepalm typing this haha) I don’t want to delve into how everything happened, but let’s just say that I was almost willing to let go of my non-negotiables and standards, just to pursue a relationship with this man. All roads were leading to a big “NO”, but for a bit there, I tried to push it a little bit more. Tried to see if there’s something that I can hold on to just to finally be in a relationship again. But it didn’t work out. He was confusing, naive, and I just know him too well given that we’ve known each other for quite a while. In return, I was hurt, and even worse, all my insecurities just suddenly poured out. In wanting to launch this potential relationship, I eventually began to question my worth. Why isn’t he as serious as I am? Why isn’t he pursuing me sincerely? What is it about me that’s holding him back? Am I not pretty enough? Smart enough? Skinny enough? What am I doing wrong?
I almost lost it. I was desperately trying to read between the mixed signals and actions. It was like, majority of the time I was strategising what to do just to get this relationship to blossom. But he just wasn’t on the same page as I am. He doesn’t know what he likes. He clearly wasn’t ready. And so I decided to end it, also for the sake of the friendship that I desired to save.
I’m not completely okay yet. But I know I’m getting there. Also, I’m trying to rebuild my friendship with him, so there’s that. I know it’s a pretty complicated thing, but as I’ve said, I don’t think I really, really fell in love with him yet. Soooo yeah. Ugh. Hahaha.
Faith
Despite everything that’s been happening in my life this year, God has remained constant. I cannot fully explain just how present He’s been in my life this year. Since I had my relapse last month, He’s never failed to provide me with the things that I need. He’s orchestrated so many things to happen to me, just to make me feel that He’s actually reaching out to me. There were days when I would just literally be in awe because I could really feel His presence there. I’m attending a new church now and it has helped me so, so, much in my spiritual journey, and honestly, if God didn’t lead me there, I would have backslid by now.
My faith was refreshed this year. And I’m so happy it did. God’s grace has been ever so sufficient to me and I will forever thank Him for all the reaching out He did to me and all the mercy and grace He’s poured out. I’m gonna be totally honest, living with this kind of anxiety and all the other pain that I have is very exhausting. It is. I wanted to give up a thousand times. But God never tires to reach His hand out to me, no matter how many times I neglect Him, reject Him, and tell Him that I don’t need Him anymore. Most times, I would actually tell Him that I don’t deserve His love, but He constantly tells me that He does love me, and nothing in this world can change that. Even I couldn’t accept myself, but He does. And knowing that Someone accepts you even if you don’t accept yourself is actually a pretty big deal.
---
Overall, I’m still trying to figure out how to fully love myself and be rid of all these insecurities and fears. It’s actually easier to find reasons to hate myself than find reasons why I need to love myself. It’s so, so, so hard. And even though I’ve been working so hard on it, there are times when I feel like I’m not even making progress. But you really have to dig deeper within yourself to find that tiny bit of strength and hope. As John Mayer said (which is the song I’m currently listening to now lol), “So I keep runnin' 'til my run is gone, keep on ridin' 'til I see that dawn, and I will be found. I will be found.”
I’m making a solid effort to accept that I am a work in progress, and that’s okay. What’s important is that I am aware of it, and that I’m constantly working to be the best version of myself, no matter how many times I have to try and try again.

Yoshi games analysis
(ORIGINALLY WRITTEN 7/2/16. Edited and completed 5/18/17)
It has been my long standing maybe-controversial-maybe-not opinion that Yoshi games are as a whole mediocre. The original Yoshi's Island (and Super Mario World if that counts) are the only games universally accepted as be "good" games.
This says nothing about Yoshi as a character of course. Since his debut, T. Yoshisaur Munchakoopas been along time companion of Mario and co and has a permanent role in spin-off games as well. Basically, he's a tier 1 Mario character (see my tier list) but why has his games suffered? Let's look at the Yoshi franchise as a whole. (American releases only)
Platformers
1. Super Mario World: While I consider this a Mario game first, it's worth looking at. This game establishes Yoshi as a character and a jungle/forest like setting we would see in later games as well at Yoshi's association with fruit. While the rest of Dinosaur Land isn't really a part of the Yoshi franchise the colorful settings set the tone for what was to come.
2. Yoshi's Island: The defining "Yoshi Game" and the only one that universally loved by most. Because of this, I don't need to say much or defend it. This basically set up what Yoshi is today. Yoshi was bouncier, cuter, less wild animal like and that to say nothing of the great level design. The Yoshi and Shy Guy connection is set up here for some reason and other signature YI enemies and level design.
3. Yoshi's Story: The oddball sequel to YI. The thing is, aside from the overt easiness it's a good game it borrows elements from YI but with puzzle like levels with no end point. The voice clips and excessive happiness we get with Yoshi comes from here too. The set drops are very interesting and like YI it goes for a style that clearly stylized and as a result doesn't look very dated today. This game falls under the "pseudo forgotten" category as the game is undoubtedly underrated but on the bright side Nintendo constantly references it in connection to Yoshi.
4. Yoshi Topsy-Turvy: True story. I bought this used at a gamestop (before GBAs went extinct obviously) to try it out and hated it so much I got my money back. Okay the gimmick is this has a tilt sensor, like Wario Ware Twisted only not fun. The implementation was just so strange, and the level design was just so dull. You tilt the world around, which could be cool, but for some reason Yoshi isn't capable of standing up straight either. Graphics are based off of Yoshi's Story, but instead of looking good, it looks wrong. The pseudo 3D does not work here. The plot is kind of sort of a repeat of Yoshi's Story too. Overall rather mediocre and forgettable. PASS.
5. Yoshi's Touch and Go: When the DS was still new, I remember playing this in a store demo. I also remember not liking it much. Basically it's an auto scroll thing where you interact with the touch screen to get a high score and make sure Yoshi gets to the end safely. This game was obviously a demo game for the DS it's self and it shows. The game doesn't have much point if any.
6. Yoshi's Island DS: A pretty well known game, but in a controversial way. It's Yoshi's Island 2.0 but now with different babies to choose from. Believe it or not, this came out years before Mario games started to get "baby pollution". (I just made that term up, and yes I am copywriting it.)  Either you hate it, or you like it but you know it isn't as good as the original. Personally, this was one of the first games I got for my Nintendo DS and I hadn't even played the original at the time (I know, gasp!). I did have issues with the difficulty though and overall some of the level design, particularly in the later worlds is just ridiculous. Still, it has some spirit of the original in there, even if some gimmicks are shoehorned in.
7. Yoshi's New Island: I don't own this, but what I played I didn't like. The game engine didn't feel right, even YIDS was better in that regard. The aesthetic is kind of ugly. Levels didn't inspire me. Just mediocre and the critic reception mostly mirrors my opinion. This game was really the point where I realized how far down the Yoshi franchise had went.
8. Yoshi's Woolly World (and 3ds port): I can't speak too much about these, but from what I've played, I wasn’t that impressed. The games didn't feel loose enough if that makes sense. They are really cute looking, but the aesthetic gets old for me fast. Still, I can't give a proper opinion though, so let's go by critic reviews, and they seem to be average, but better than Yoshi's New Island. In this game's credit, it really does try something new, kind of a Yoshi's Story 2.0, with a brand new look. I would definitely check this out.
Others
1. Yoshi: A mostly forgotten puzzle game. To quote Mario Wiki "Yoshi…is a puzzle game for the NES featuring the title character. In this game, enemies from past Mario games fall and the player must get two of the same enemy to stack on top of one another. If the enemies are the same, they'll disappear. If they're different, they'll just stay where they are. If too many stack up, the player loses the game. The concept of the game was inspired by Tetris." So yeah. Okay for a moment but that's it. This IS however a multiplatform Mario game, something of an oddity in itself. (I have an old editorial about that.)
2. Yoshi's Cookie: Another puzzle game slightly more popular than Yoshi. The multiplatform nature probably helped out as well. Another matching game, but with cookies. While the game itself is meh, the background info and legacy it has is interesting. To quote Mario Wiki again, "The SNES version of Yoshi's Cookie featured a slightly-updated version of Yoshi's appearance, in which he has a bigger head, longer and more human-like arms and shorter neck.
This appearance would be later used in Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and later games.
This game also marks the first time in-game that Yoshi's speech comprises of his name, a trait later used in Yoshi's Story and popularized by Super Smash Bros."
3. Yoshi's Safari: A strange one but in a very good way. I've written about this game before but basically it's our only fps on rails Mario game. While it's never explained why Yoshi must keep moving, it's a fun game though the Yoshi-like level design is sacrificed here for the sake of it being in 3D. Also this is pre-Yoshi's Island so we get SMW yoshi here.
4. Tetris Attack: Another strange but good one. It's a puzzle and being post-Yoshi's Island, you get the typical YI cuteness and what-not. Good music and it's multiplatform though the SNES version clearly wins. Check it out with a Super Gameboy too while you’re at it.
Overview: Well, when we look at the platform games side, Yoshi hasn't truly had a solid hit since well, Yoshi's Island. Yoshi's Story upset many despite Nintendo being fond of referencing it. All of the handheld appearances aside from Yoshi's Island DS are forgotten and YIDS has split reactions among fans. Yoshi's New Island is universally either consider meh, or bad and Yoshi's Woolly World seems to range from meh to okay. That's not the best track record…
On the puzzle side of the spectrum, they are mostly forgotten games regardless of if they were good or not. Yoshi games clearly don’t get the attention Mario games do, and like Mario spin-offs of various qualities Yoshi games tend to be toss around between developers. Could that be the reason? Probably so, because there is plenty of material to work with with Yoshi, both gameplay and aesthetic wise. Thanks for reading.

Perfect Step Copywriting Formula | World Class Copywriting
In my opinion, the simplest definition of Copywriting Services is writing that SELLS. As A World-Renowned Direct Response Copywriter… I have written powerful direct response sales copy for clients during a big variety of markets, including:   Online Education Health Supplements Information Publishers SAAS Martial Arts/Self Defense Weight Loss Skin Care Male Sexual Health Live Seminars Software Developers Insurance Agencies Christian Education Life Coaches and Consultants Real Estate and lots of, many more.
