Things about early drafts of Fakir I’m haunted by:
was referred to for an unknown period of production as “the black prince” (to Mytho’s “white prince“), including during the development of the 2001 trailer. (source) (source) (source)
machine translation of the last source: “Since the character of Fakir was still in the process of being set up, the "black prince" image that director Kawamoto had in mind at the time can be glimpsed in the [promo]. The deep V-neck was also in line with the concept.”
is presented as not just a (less tsundere and more, uh, aggressive) romantic option for Duck, but implied to be a romantic rival on the same level as Rue and Duck for Mytho’s affections in the 2001 trailer
production sketch of Fakir dancing with Rue, as Kraehe, when they have never once been on good terms in the actual final show: (source)
#princess tutu#fakir princess tutu#im just haunted. it seems like his role REALLY changed the most over the course of development#there was always odette-expy (would become duck) and odile-expy (would become rue) and swan lake prince expy (would become mytho)#as early as the 1994 balleriland draft for the series before sato came on board#although their exact personalities backstories roles etc would obviously change a lot#but fakir doesn't really map directly onto any swan lake character as far as i can tell#the knights implied name of lohengrin comes from the incorporation of knight of the swan folktales into german variants of arthurian lore#sick as hell allusion but does make him a little of an odd duck (hah) here!#was he at some point literally a prince like mytho or was that purely figurative.#was he at some point going to have a more positive relationship with rue/kraehe that got dropped#when in development did black prince fakir become knight fakir i wanna know i love cut content
