Ok ik this kinda angst but like... How would Eren react if he found his partner cheating on him 👉🏾👈🏾😶
Tumblr media
eren finding out his s/o is a cheater;
❥ ahhh this made me so sad and mad when i was thinking about it but enjoy😭🤲
Tumblr media
so in my head i see eren reacting 1 of 2 ways, to me the first way makes more sense but the second way might make more sense to more people, but i will start with the second way because i’m gonna go off of the first
the initial way most people would expect him to react is by lashing out immediately, and i can see this way as well of course
he’s like “what the fuck?” he runs up to the bed and tugs you back, makes sure what he’s seeing is true, and he’s just disgusted, he can’t believe it, anger is running through his veins but he’s not exactly sure what he’s supposed to do...
he most likely is just cursing under his breath and going on aimlessly while heading out the room, he’s just dumbfounded, disgusted, confused, angry, and he’s acting irrationally.
the first way is that he for example opens the door & catches you cheating, his reaction is very subtle because he’s in shock & deep thought.
this is the exact oppposite of how you would initially think he would react. instead of lashing out in anger like he usually does, he’s in abrupt denial & his brain is flooding, he’s containing his anger for you, but not for the other person, yet he knows he can’t take his anger out on the other person yet because you are there as well. he doesn’t even hear you trying to talk to him, he doesn’t hear the other person either, his brain is too full
he will shut the door, and he’s just like, “is this real?” “is this happening, am i tripping?” and he’s in fear, he doesn’t want to go back in, he doesn’t want to stay in the house either, he most likely leaves and goes for a drive, this is the beginning of his isolation period.
you will not hear from him for a long time, he’s deep in thought, you can’t contact him, as a matter of fact a lot of people can’t. he’s shitting on himself because of your actions, he’s trying to figure out where he went wrong, if it’s his fault (he knows it’s not but he’s still itching to figure out why you would do something like that), etc
he probably comes back to get some of his belongings when you’re not home, and it aches him, like he’s just disgusted and his mind still can’t wrap around the fact
finally, when mikasa and armin crack and beg him to tell them why he’s been ignoring them, and why he’s been isolating himself, when he does tell them, you’re in trouble.
mikasa is livid, she’s great at hiding her anger but she asked eren multiple times if he has her permission to confront you, yet eren declined everytime, he doesn’t want anyone going after you no matter how angry he is, he still not put together yet, and he doesn’t want anyone trying to pick up the pieces for him, he wants to do this all by himself, closure or not. mikasa does not want him to have any deal with you anymore, either.
armin is sympathizing with eren clearly and expresses that he feels next time eren should tell them right away, not to lock himself away because it’s not good for him, armin feels really bad for not being able to be there for eren and gives eren lots of words of affirmation. armin would be happy with whatever makes eren happiest but he agrees with mikasa that he probably shouldn’t get back with you
mikasa gives you evident dirty glares in the hallway, and armin tries to avoid you at all costs, when you try to talk to armin he’s still nice and willing but he tries to get away as fast as possible, both of these give you clues as to they finally know what you did
whether you tried to talk to eren during his isolation period or not, when you finally do get around to talking to him, he seems completely out of it still, he complies in talking to you, and allows you to set up a time, he doesn’t exactly know what he’s doing but he’s willing to try anything, to get any reasoning, any information
i’m not gonna lie, eren’s trying to hold back his tears as much as possible, yes he might cry, and not because he’s upset with the situation, but because he’s frustrated with himself and with everything happening all at once, and he’s holding back his anger so much because during that isolation period he was trying to figure out what he could’ve been doing wrong, he probably thought his temper might’ve been an issue, so he’s trying to hold back from lashing out in a subconscious attempt to show you he can be better
he’s taking in everything you tell him and it’s upsetting, he’s sad, mad, confused, and frustrated and the conversation the two of you had didn’t really help him that much, he felt maybe a tad bit better and although his mind is set on just dropping you completely, that small part of his mind wants to try again, i doubt he’d listen to it though
he doesn’t voice and convey his emotions well, but you can most likely tell how much he’s hurting and how bad you fucked up, his emotions and everything, not much happened to his physical appearance i don’t think but he definitely seems to be acting somewhat different
i feel like there would never really be true closure no matter what, he definitely moves on at one point because he knows a lot lies ahead for him but he’ll probably take this as a learning experience and apply it to future relationships, he’s probably still as reckless and still get as angry but it shapes him up more
please don’t ever cheat on him this literally made me sad🥲

Am I the only one who finds it irritating how the fandom often completely ignore most of Dorothea's negative traits? I don't dislike her, but when I first met her in-game I thought she was an annoying thot and I took pleasure shooting her flirting down. I do like what they've done with her character, but for me something I find fascinating about Dorothea is she's such a hypocrite when it comes to her biased viewpoint nobles and how she holds them to standards she doesn't follow herself. (1/3)
Like for example, she gets mad at Lorenz for being classist, which he is, but he says he's trying to find a wife who will raise his house's standing - something Dorothea outright states she's looking to gain for herself by marrying a noble. She asks Sylvain if he'd be interested in her if she was a "hoarse-voiced old hag", but Sylvain counters that she only likes him because he's a noble and rich. She's a jerk to Ferdinand over a misunderstanding that was based off HER assumptions of him, and she talks about qualities she's looking for in a spouse, but thinks that being beautiful is the only thing she needs to bring to a relationship. There's plenty of other examples, you get the idea. Idk, I guess people are sympathetic to Dorothea because of how she grew up, but her hypocritical views are actually a big part of her character and they just get ignored because people are too busy being like, "YAS BI QUEEN" and can't stand having her being seen as problematic in any way.
I’ll preface this by saying that I 100% am a huge fan of Dorothea. If I ever have the energy to do another post like I recently did for Dimitri, she def would be one of the characters that I’d consider.
Buuuut, I agree with you anon. People boiling down interesting characters to their most easily consumable traits is a huge issues I take with fandom in general, although since I keep myself so distanced I hadn’t really seen it with Dorothea. When I first met her, I actually kinda just ignored her under the assumption that she would be your average flirty type. It was her death and post timeskip appearance (yes I’m that shallow, sue me) that made me want to get to know her better so when I actually cared to interact with Dorothea further, it was while knowing there was a bit more to her than surface value. Tbh, the only time I really felt annoyed with her behavior was with Ferdinand, as I felt the whole situation was a bit ridiculous and the structure of supports made it such an awkward affair.
That said, I completely see what you mean. These contradictions are why Dorothea interesting. As with all of these characters, her flaws are backed up by clearly displayed character tags and a very sad and sympathetic backstory... But that doesn’t make the flaws excusable. Her low opinion of herself and desperation to be loved in contrast with the actions she feels are necessary to be happy drive her hypocritical behavior, which is really cool from a writing standpoint and make her both sympathetic and frustrating. She’s very similar to Sylvain in this way, for better and for worse. They’re problematic and hold some pretty unhealthy beliefs about people and themselves, but also have a past and issues that explain why they’d feel that way. In some ways, they’re both justified in their feelings, but on the whole they’re wrong in their behavior and for allowing their predetermined judgement of others and themselves to dictate their behavior. Obviously there’s some glaring differences between the two characters, but I like the comparison because the writers took two similar archetypes and developed and expanded on them to make such wonderfully well done people. Just like Sylvain (and basically any interesting character) her flaws make Dorothea infinitely more complex and fascinating. Her hypocrisy has depth and a very satisfying resolution when she does find actual love and realize that her biases were wrong. Personally, I wouldn’t like her if she was nothing but a flirtatious ~bisexual queen~ stereotype or if I didn’t believe there was far more to explore beyond what was shown in the game. I think that painting her that way kinda cheapens Dorothea overall.
ANYWAY, yeah. That was a bit of a long-form way to say that I agree with you. This ask kind of surprised me tbh, but I love this sort of analysis stuff so I’m very, very happy to hear other people’s opinions! Overall, I just can’t understand why people are so afraid of their favorite characters having actual flaws, or why they need to explain away any flaws they do have to make said character a perfect icon. I literally cannot overstate my love for Dorothea. I love her place in the game and how she provides such an empathetic perspective, how she embodies a very real sense of insecurity and desperation to be loved that I think a lot of people (aka, me) can resonate with. I love how much she cares for people, how much she grows up throughout the story. I love that she’s such a flawed person.

Title: The Tamer v2.0 - In HIs Name
Fandom: Digimon
Rating: T
Synopsis: In the next adventure of the Digimon Tamer, the lives of Juri, Rika, and Henry change forever when digimon begin crossing over into the human world. But it’s all just a story, right? Just a book series by an author no one has seen in a long time. Why are they here and can they save their world before something worse follows the digimon?
They rested another day at the house, part to recover from the day’s fight and part so that the information could sink in for Kazu and Kenta. The rest of them hadn’t really interacted with the real Takato before but he was Kazu and Kenta’s friend. And they’d become uncharacteristically quiet ever since learning he was dead.
The mood was hardly any better the next day when they headed off towards the lights in the horizon, and the travel was awkward the whole way. Thankfully, their journey eventually took them to a beautiful coastline that seemed to go on forever. And the sight of it seemed to raise everyone’s spirit if only slightly. Rika, however, was focused intently on Ryo who’d been quiet ever since the battle over the lake. Although she was unsure if it was due to the battle, Tamer, the truth about how his anger made Cyberdramon crazy, or something. She was sure he was still steaming about everything though and was trying his hardest to not lead it into Monodramon becoming violent again. Admittedly, the interactions between the two partners was out of sync now that Ryo knew the truth. Meanwhile, his partner Monodramon was grumbling about not being able to fly and wanting to hit everyone around him. Likely because of whatever pent up anger Ryo wasn’t dealing with.
The funny thing was, everyone except Terriermon and Calumon would just push him away whenever he tried to take a swing at them. Even that idiot Guilmon was able to keep him at arm’s length. Sometimes with his tail. Since Ryo had been hanging back, Rika slowed her pace to keep up with him, “You alright?”
“Yeah, just...taking everything in,” Ryo answered quietly, “And processing everything that’s happened. It’s...aggravating.”
“I know the feeling. Goggle head got on my nerves a lot. But the thing about Takato…I mean, wow,” Rika nodded in agreement, trying to think of some positive points to add. One look at Monodramon was all it took, “At least your partner’s a lot...easier to handle now that you’ve…mellowed out.”
As she said that, Monodramon made another attempt at fighting and charged at Leomon. And for his efforts, Leomon picked up the digimon by the scruff of his neck and held him up at arm’s length, “Please stop that. It’s getting annoying.”
“I’ll stop when I knock you down a peg! Monodramon hissed until Leomon knocked him on the head. The little dinosaur calmed down, whimpering in pain and rubbing his sore head. Ryo sighed, burying his face in his hands, “I don’t think I did. It’s hard to not get mad every time I see Tamer. How do you guys not get annoyed by him?”
Rika shrugged, “You’re asking the wrong person. Kazu and Kenta are his friends. Were? I don’t know, you’ve gotta ask someone else. Although I’m not sure who the right person to ask is.”
“How about Juri? She seems friendly. Although the puppet is kind of weird. I’ve been meaning to ask: what’s up with that?” Ryo gestured towards her, fiddling with her sock puppet anxiously. Rika recalled their conversation in the park about how hard it was for Juri to talk to others. In a strange new world, her anxiety was probably getting the better of her. And having Ryo question her might not be the best idea. Maybe Henry was a better choice? She waved it off, “Never mind. Let’s ask Henry instead.”
...
The only other sane member of their group walked in the middle with his hands in his pockets, casually asking Terriermon about every little thing in the Digital World as they passed. Part of it was genuine curiosity, part of it was because his partner had suddenly become very talkative. Terriermon gestured ahead, “It’s kinda hard to believe your dad made all this. He must’ve had a lot of free time on his hands when he was in college.”
“It’s scary to think what he would make if he still had that free time,” Henry surmised, thinking on what would’ve happened if he hadn’t lost his project. Would he be working in his lab, trying to make improvements to the Digital World? Would he have gotten married to his mother? Terriermon laughed, “Maybe you and your sister should do more to keep him busy. That way he won’t make any more things that’ll kill us!”
“If only,” Henry laughed, “Maybe Shibumi made some more helped programs while we weren’t looking. Wouldn’t that be nice if we had some of those digignomes following us around. Speaking of which.”
He looked over at the glowing balls of light playfully flying around Calumon as he hopped along side them, amusing him with their aerial ballet. Every so often, he’d bounce on one and ride it for a little bit before falling onto the ground. Terriermon asked, “Do you think Xiaochun is ready to see him again?”
“She definitely liked having him as a playmate,” he nodded in agreement, watching Calumon get lifted into the air by the little lights who continued to carry him around.
“Hey! Henry!” Rika called out to him. He looked over his shoulder to see Rika and Ryo making their way towards him in hurry. Terriermon took the chance to joke, “I wonder if they’re coming to kick your butt.”
“Don’t put that idea in my head,” Henry frowned, worried his partner was right. It didn’t help that all he had to say in response was, “Moumantai!”
“If they kick my butt, I’m kicking you,” he warned his partner. The little digimon laughed at the empty threat and hurried off to join Calumon, who was busy being flown around by the Digignomes. Henry mentally prepared himself for whatever tai chi training he would need to defend himself when Rika stopped, “Ryo’s got a question for ya.”
“For me? What’s up?” he asked the other boy curiously. What did he have to offer a guy as experienced in the Digital World and as skilled in the card game as Ryo? He got an answer when Ryo shot Takato a sideways glare, “Tamer. How do you guys put up with him?”
Henry laughed at the oddness of the question, “It’s not hard when you have a partner like Terriermon around.”
Ryo frowned, obviously disappointed with the answer and added, “I’m not talking about his personality. I mean, how have you not gone completely crazy because of him? He drives me insane! All I can think about is how he dropped me off in this world for twenty years!”
Henry thought about that, recalling everything Ryo had said the day before and chose his words carefully, “Honestly, I’d be pretty mad if he did that to me. But the truth is, I guess I had more of a choice in the matter than you did. I could’ve walked away with Terriermon. It sounds like you didn’t have a choice. I think that would’ve been easier than getting the choice. Because the choice becomes standing by while others get hurt, or putting yourself in danger to protect others. If that makes sense.”
Ryo grumbled, “It really doesn’t. It sounds like he just hasn’t thrown you guys under the bus yet. I mean, you’re right about one thing: I didn’t have much of a choice. To be honest, I’m not sure you guys did either. After all, it’s only a matter of time before he says something like ‘all according to plan’ or something stupid like that. For all you know, he’s been pulling your strings since the beginning.”
“Yeah, I’ve heard that about him,” Henry glanced at Takato once, walking in the front with his digivice out to navigate. Maybe he should stop thinking of him as Takato - the real Takato was dead. Then again, he never even knew the real Takato. So what did it matter if he called the guy Tamer or Takato? He seemed like the plain old guy who was just trying to stop all the craziness before it got out of hand, “But he doesn’t seem like the kinda guy who would.”
“He would and will,” Ryo said bitterly, before taking a deep breath to calm himself, “Sorry, I guess I’m still fuming about what happened.”
“Moumantai,” Henry patted the guy’s shoulder. He raised an eyebrow at him, “I keep hearing your partner say that. What does it mean?”
Henry laughed, “It’s Chinese and it means relax. Don’t ask me where he learned it. He says its because some Terriermon learned it from a human a long time ago..”
“Huh,” Ryo frowned, “Probably because of Tamer or something Tamer did.”
Henry frowned, noticing that Ryo still seemed to be seething a little. The fact Monodramon was still trying to jump the other digimon was a dead give away. He’d need to talk to someone else to get all that aggression out. But who else could Ryo ask that question to? After all, Rika had her own issues with Tamer and wasn’t the right person to ask. Kazu and Kenta wouldn’t be safe bets since they each knew the real Takato and Henry wasn’t sure what was going through their heads right now. It was almost unnatural how quiet things could be when they were chatting excitedly between themselves.
Juri seemed like a safe bet since she was following closest behind Tamerkato...that seemed like an odd choice of name for him but it worked. The Tamer was too weird, even a little too formal - but he couldn’t keep using Takato’s name. In either case, Juri seemed like she wanted to join the conversation but didn’t know what to say. She might be the answer, “You know what, I think I know the person you should be talking to! Juri!”
The girl jumped at the sound of her name, looking up sheepishly but still managing to smile. She had been quiet ever since the morning before the Devas showed up. Ever since Takato revealed the truth about the real Takato. Still, she seemed to be the least agitated about it. She slowed down so they could catch up, “What is it, Henry?”
“Ryo here wants to know how we’re not all being driven crazy by Takato,” Henry explained sheepishly, “And I figured you would be able to answer since you know him better. Well, know him better than either of us. You are in his class after all.”
Juri paused for a moment, her gaze moving skyward slowly as she rattled off anything that came to mind, “Well, he does drive our teacher crazy sometimes. But I guess it’s because they know each other? Although I’m glad when he interrupts the class because then I can try to catch up with notes. It was also weird, getting strung along with everything that happened-”
“That certainly sounds like him,” Ryo rolled his eyes and leered at Takato, “That guy always strings you along. It’s how he works. And you’d better believe that if it means leading you into something awful, he won’t bat an eye. So what did he do to stick you guys in this mess?”
Rika, and Juri all looked at each other - unsure how to explain their situation to him. Or rather, unsure who should go first. Juri answered first, “He didn’t drag me into anything. I signed up for this. He actually tried to talk us out of it and get us to walk away. But I’m here. And it’s been fun so far.”
“I didn’t even know Tamerkato was involved until a few days after all this started for me,” Henry offered his explanation, “Terriermon just showed up out of my computer one day. Next thing I know, all this is happening.”
“Tamerkato?” Ryo repeated expectantly. Henry shrugged, “Well, his name is Tamer but he’s running around with Takato’s face. But it feels weird to still call him Takato and Tamer is just...I dunno. Every time The Tamer comes up, he’s made to sound like something legendary. And he...well, isn’t.”
Rika was the only one who didn’t give an answer, which was bad since Ryo seemed to trust her over them. Ryo didn’t seem to notice though since he was still hung up on Tamerkato, “You’re not wrong. But wait until you see the real Tamer come out. And when he does, you’ll find out just how far you’ve been strung along.”
Henry was struck by that question and had never really stopped to consider if that was actually the case. Was Tamerkato quietly stringing them along? It sounded like what Rika had talked about in the park - the forgotten novel that described The Digimon Tamer as manipulative. But knowing how’d been acting since the truth came out about the real Takato, he wasn’t sure that was the case. Unless that was how Tamerkato was manipulating them. Then again, there was no way his attitude wasn’t genuine - he was flustered, confused, and well out of his depth.
“Whoa! Check this out!” Kazu called out aloud. They returned their attention forward to a sprawling walled village with a castle in the distance. The castle was decrepit, practically falling apart - like something from a feudal Japanese fortress that had been sacked and left to rot. Juri gasped, “It’s horrible! What is it?”
“That is ShogunGekomon’s Village,” Renamon answered, “The domain of ShogunGekomon and his people: the Gekomon and Otamamon. At least, that was its history. It was a bustling city a long time ago and is home to all sorts of digimon. They would take in anyone who needed a home, so long as they abide peacefully with others.”
“No way! That’s the thing from the show!” Kenta jumped up excitedly, “Kazu! This is the place from the show! Where Rika’s mom sang that song!”
“Man, what a dump. What do you think happened here?” Kazu frowned. Tamerkato grunted as he carried on, “We’re in the Digital World. Take a guess.”
He marched ahead with Guilmon just behind him. Leomon crossed his arms, “I don’t understand. It was not like this when I left.”
Henry was sure that Tamerkato’s statement was truer than he was comfortable admitting. And if it was, it would be dangerous to let their ticket wander off on his own, “We’d better catch up to them before they do something and get themselves hurts.”
It took them a while to finally catch up to them outside the village entrance. The village was populated by a mish-mash of digimon - the toad like Gekomon, the tadpole like Otamamon, small little orange dinosaur Agumon, little bunny eared Koromon, and more. The digimon hurriedly moved oversized barrels towards the edge of the lake, shouting amongst themselves to hurry before someone arrived.
Whatever it was that had them all so worked up, it made Guilmon growl towards the ocean and drew the attention of the nearest digimon. One of the Gekomon took a good look at the group before continuing his business. As Guilmon continued to growl, the Gekomon stopped again to look - obviously annoyed with his growing. Before he could start to yell at them, his gazed fixated on Ryo and his eyes widened. He shouted, “Is that who I think it is? The Digimon Tamer! Everyone, The Digimon Tamer is here!”
The announcement brought all the working digimon in the village to a pause, digimon everywhere stopping in their tracks to look up at them. Then a mad excited rush followed as all the digimon came together to swarm the group. It was all Ryo could do to quietly step back behind the others as they were swarmed, although it was obvious to everyone that they were interested in Ryo.
“You have to help us!”
“We’ve been working for him for years! He never lets us rest!”
“Only you can stop him!”
Everyone stepped back to get clear of the wave of digimon, watching in stunned silence as Ryo was treated like some kind of celebrity. Which should’ve infuriated both Ryo and Tamerkato for the case of mistaken identity. Instead, Tamerkato smiled from ear to ear for the first time since his grim announcement and quietly remarked, “So this is what it looks like from the outside. It’s kinda funny to see it happen to someone else.”
Overwhelmed by the sheer number of digimon and annoyed at once again being mistaken for the person he hated the most, Ryo looked back to them as if he were pleading for help. All he got was Rika joking, “Hey! Ryo! I think they’re talking about you.”
It was weird to see her crack a friendly joke like that. For all of them. And even weirder that it actually managed a small chuckle from Renamon.
“I’ll get them!” Monodramon shouted, baring his claws and charging in for the attack. He got just short of the crowd before bouncing off the backs of one of the Gekomon and landing face first into the dirt. Realizing he was on his own, the boy raised his hand to call for quiet. His lips curled into a frown as he explained, “Guys! I’m not the Digimon Tamer! Don’t call me that ever again. He’s over there!”
The excitement died down as they looked over at Tamerkato, smiling that dopey smile of his as he waved. The digimon of the village were unimpressed by what they saw and returned their attention back to Ryo, “That was funny Tamer, but this is serious! We’re in a lot of trouble!”
Tamerkato frowned and stepped back towards the rest of the group, “That was new. I don’t know if I’m offended or flattered.”
“Why don’t you show them your old digivice?” Juri asked. Tamerkato shrugged, “What good would it do? They already don’t believe me. Besides, I’m more interested in what has them all so spooked and relieved to ‘Tamer’! Let’s see what’s going on with those barrels.”
He led the way past the crowd with Guilmon towards eight large bowls of foul smelling liquid just ahead of them. Guilmon got sick and started retching as they got closer. But Juri knew what it was as soon as she smelled it - it was the smell of strong alcohol. The kind her dad liked to drink and serve at his bar. She also knew that it was incredibly strong. Tamerkato took one sniff of the booze, barely flinching at the smell and remarked, “It smells a little weak.”
It made sense. He was a lot older than he appeared - who was to say he hadn’t drunk alcohol before. She watched him approach the nearest bowl and take a strong whiff. Then he scooped out a handful and took a drink. He fetched and coughed it back up, “Oh god. It’s gone bad. Who would drink this?”
“Tamerk-!” she paused, catching herself before she finished saying the name, “Takato!”
Thankfully he didn’t notice as he mouth and try to get out of his tongue. She was about to say he was too young for that, but then remembered this wasn’t Takato. It was someone else. And she’d just called him Takato. But the real Takato was dead. It never bothered her before to call him Takato. So why now? Was it the fact that she knew the real Takato was dead? She was pulled from these thoughts by Tamerkato wiping his mouth, “Sorry! It’s just awful. Who would want this!?”
“Don’t drink that!” An Otamamon shouted, running over to shoo him away from the drink before he could have anymore. The Otamamon pushed him back with his head, “That’s not for you! That’s for Orochimon. He likes his drink like that and it takes us months just to brew enough for him. So no more for you!”
“Orochimon,” Tamerkato repeated quietly, rejoining Juri’s side. The little Otamamon hurriedly poured more of the contents of the barrel into the bowl. She didn’t know much about digimon and had no idea who Orochimon was. She did think it was odd that the digimon in a place called ShogunGekomon Village were so concerned with the whims of a digimon named Orochimon. Maybe it was connected? Unfortunately, she was distracted by the powerful smell of alcohol coming from Tamerkato now. It seemed the smell rubbed off on him because he reached into the alcohol, “You stink.”
“I do?” Tamerkato sniffed himself and frowned, “Crap, I got it on me. I’m going to jump in the ocean real quick and then we can start asking around. I want to know why ShogunGekomon’s allowing any of this.”
She was about to stop him but was unable to open her mouth without getting a face full of fumes. Instead, she watched silently as he jumped into the ocean with his clothes on - soaking himself in the smell.
...
A great roar blared in the distance and the gathered digimon returned to their panicked frenzy and started pushing the barrels out to the beach again. Of the digimon that assembled to meet them, only one Otamamon stayed to stare up at Ryo with wide eyed excitement, “Is it true? Can you really help us?”
Ryo glowered, burying his face in his hands in annoyance. Thankfully, Kazu stepped in to answer ecstatically by pointing a thumb to his chest and proudly proclaiming, “You bet we can! We’re the new team of digidestined and we’re here to help!”
“Please don't call us that,” Ryo groaned. The Otamamon turned its head in surprise, examining Kazu’s carefully before declaring his ego, “You’re a lot smaller than the stories make you sound. I expected the Digidestined to be taller.”
“I did say new,” Kazu pointed out to the unimpressed Otamamon. Kenta did his best to stifle his laughter while Guardromon had to hold Kazu back from jumping the little digimon. Rika rolled her eyes and introduced herself, “Don’t mind him. His mouth works faster than his brain. I’m Rika, this is Kazu, that’s Ryo, Henry, Kenta, Renamon, Leomon, and Guardromon. What’s going on here?”
The Otamamon gestured out towards the digimon and sheepishly explained, “Our village is preparing its weekly tribute to Orochimon, an eight headed serpent who terrorizes us if we don’t. We need to prepare a special brew of sake for each of his heads but it takes so long to make that we’re running ragged. We have to take turns working in shifts all day just to make sure there’s enough for him. And he starts eating us if we don’t have enough.”
Rika looked out upon the barrels and counted them. There were indeed eight barrels being lined up at the beach like cups. And for some reason, goggle head was swimming in the ocean while Guilmon and Juri watched. A few digimon shooed them away so that they could empty the contents of the barrels into the bowls.
Leomon asked, “I don’t understand. Where’s ShogunGekomon? He’s supposed to be the protector of this place? And what about the village guard?”
Otamamon’s silent expression was all the answer they needed. They weren’t around anymore either - that seemed to be a theme of present. Ryo folded his arms, “Orochimon’s going to be tough. If I remember, he’s an Ultimate and with Monodramon back to rookie, we’re in serious trouble.”
“But we have Calumon now!” Kazu pointed at the little digimon still playing with the digignomes. Otamamon stared at the little digimon and said only, “Are you sure that’s a good thing? Orochimon would probably think he’s a toy.”
That announcement caught Calumon’s attention and the little digimon stopped his excited staring to see what was going on. Terriermon patted the little guy’s head, “I wouldn’t underestimate Calumon. He’s a lot stronger than he looks.”
The Otamamon eyed him skeptically, “I’ll believe it when I see it.”
Another loud roar got their attention and the digimon gasped, scurrying over to the beach to help put the alcohol into the giant tub. Once they completed their tasks, the digimon retreated back into their houses. One of the Gekomon shouted as they ran past, “What are you doing? Hide! If Orochimon sees you, he’ll eat you for bothering his drinking time! You have to hide! Now!”
Everyone followed the little Gekomon into one of the nearby houses. Rika wasn’t normally one to run and hide but the Digital World had made her more cautious. She didn’t know anything about this Orochimon and didn’t want to walk head first into a blood bath without knowing what they were up against.
“Rika!” her partner shouted out. Rika looked back at Renamon and saw her pointing to Leomon running for Juri, Tamerkato, and Guilmon. All three of them were still standing on the water’s edge as if they hadn’t heard the noise echoing out from the distance. To make matters worse, there was movement in the water. A lot of movement. The ocean looked ready to come alive as the surface shook. And they were acting like nothing was wrong. Rika groaned, “You have got to be kidding me!”
“JURI!” Leomon roared. Juri turned away from Tamerkato and saw her lion partner running towards her with his arms in the air. He was shouting something but it was difficult to make out over the very loud rumbling she could hear from behind her. She tried cupping her ears and shouting, “What!?”
“RUN!” he shouted at the top of his lungs. He said something else but it was drowned out by another loud roar, followed by a large shadow appearing behind her. She turned around and saw a large serpent emerging out of the water. A panicked Takato ran back to shore beside her and Guilmon, standing in front of her just as another serpent head emerged from the water. Then another. Until finally an eight headed serpent was staring them down with all sixteen of its eyes. The closest head hissed, “Who are you? Why are you interrupting my drink time?”
Guilmon growled at the digimon angrily, presenting all of its claws. Juri froze in panic, mind racing for words that seemed just out of reach. She was glad Tamerkato was here to quickly put together, “Hello! I’m Takato! This is Guilmon! That’s Juri! That guy running late is Leomon! We’re here to serve you your drinks and make sure you’re taken care of!”
Another head came in closer to get a good look at them, “We don’t need to be taken care of. Go away. I want to enjoy my drink.”
“Our drink,” another head said. The two heads turned at each other, hissing until the largest head roared at them both, “No fighting! We drink now! Leave before we take some hors d'oeuvres with our food!”
Juri wanted to run now but Tamerkato kept talking, “Oh come on, Orochimon! You don’t want to do that! Who’ll stop you from choking on your tongue while you’re passed out drunk? Or worse! What if you choke on your vomit! Admit it, you need someone to take care of you!”
The serpent stared at them with one of their eyes. The pupil moved from one person to another curiously, judging them carefully before one head finally hissed, “That might not be a bad idea. You can stay. But try anything and we will eat you!”
“Don’t worry! We’ll be here to give you pillows and all the care you need while you sleep it off!” Tamerkato gave a thumbs up. Each head took a tub in its mouth and guzzled them all down. While the serpent chugged, Juri leaned over to Tamerkato and whispered, “What are you doing?”
He whispered back, “No idea. I wasn’t expecting Orochimon to just show up. I panicked! Sorry to drag you into this. Just roll with it.”
The first tub fell back to the beach, followed by another and another. Each head let out a loud burp that filled the air with the noxious smell of alcohol and Juri covered her nose to drown out the smell. The Digimon Tamer waved the air, while Guilmon nearly passed out from the smell - staying upright only because Leomon caught him. Leomon covered his mouth to stop himself from throwing up - finally relaxing once Orochimon finished burping. The serpents turned their heads towards them, lowing four of their heads while the lead declared, “Come with us. We sleep off the drink on our island.”
Juri felt her heart sink and looked to Tamerkato to get them out of this. The boy thought quickly and responded with, “Is that a good idea? You just had a hearty drink! It’d probably be better if you stayed here. It’s a bad idea to swim after a drink! You should probably have something to ea...I mean...sleep it off here.”
“Get on or I’ll eat you now,” the serpent hissed. Tamerkato offered her an apologetic look and mouthed a sorry before climbing aboard the snake’s head first. Juri felt a lump in her throat choking her but managed to climb onto its head without passing out. She felt her head spin as Orochimon raised his head into the air and she latched on to keep herself from falling. Guilmon and Leomon followed their lead, climbing onto the head and holding on for dear life as the serpent turned back to the ocean. The lead head said, “Hold tight. I don’t swim straight after a drink.”
Juri held tighter, seeing Takato mouth another apology before they sailed off.  She closed her eyes shut just as the first bob happened and she was sure she’d fall off.
...
Rika stopped just short of the water’s edge, kicking the sand in frustration as Orochimon shrank into the horizon. He was leaving and they had to catch up soon if they didn’t want to lose the others again. She groaned, “You’ve gotta be kidding me!”
Ryo folded his arms and smugly said, “See what I mean? He does that and there’s nothing we can about it. We better hope he doesn’t leave us behind. Wouldn’t be the first time, though.”
“Do you think they’ll be alright?” Renamon asked her, staring off as the serpent turned into a speck before disappearing over the horizon. It didn’t take Rika any time to think of the answer, “Nope. Leomon’s good but Juri doesn’t have much experience in fights. As for Taka...Tamer...Tamerkato! He and Guilmon are crazy. Who knows what they’re going to do next.”
“We should definitely go after him,” Henry folded his arms and looked down at his partner, “You mind carrying a handful of people?”
“Sure! I was wondering when we would try out those cards Shibumi gave us!” Terriermon said excitedly. Kazu and Kenta finally caught up, both out of breath and being carried in the arms of Guardromon. Henry produced a set of cards from his pocket and started handing them out, nudging the out of breath Kazu to get his attention. The boy asked, “The crap is this?”
Henry explained as he prepared to swipe, “One of the cards Shibumi gave me. They give our digimon a temporary energy boost that allows them to digivolve. Swipe the blue one to digivolve one level, the red ones to digivolve two levels. DigiModify! Digivolution Activate!”
There was a bright flash of light as Terriermon cried out, “Terriermon! Warp Digivolve to! Rapidmon!”
Rika looked down at the red card in her hand and realizing that she had all this power at the tip of her fingers. She readied to swipe it when she saw Ryo about to do the same, and quickly knocked it out of his hands, “Don’t!”
“What gives, Rika?” he asked like he’d been slapped in the face. She was surprised Ryo hadn’t considered what was wrong and pointed at Monodramon just a few steps behind him, “He’s still attacking everything he sees which means you’ve still got pent up anger issues! Do you really want him to digivolve to something other than rookie?”
“I’ve been on my best behavior!” the little digimon huffed, showing off big watery eyes in a bid for sympathy. All of that went away and he hissed when Rapidmon commented, “That was only because Orochimon actually scared you! That was the quietest you’ve been in a while!”
“So what do we do now?” Ryo asked, “We can’t just sit here and do nothing, and I’ll be damned before I let Tamer abandon us in another part of the Digital World!”
Rika scooped up the card before he could take it back up, “Don’t worry. I won’t let him. Besides, someone’s gotta protect Calumon over there in case more of those Devas come looking for him. Henry, Rapidmon, Renamon and I will go after them. You guys wait here. Deal?”
“What!? I don’t want to be stuck on babysitting duty!” Kazu complained loudly, prompting Kenta to smack the back of his head.
Ryo looked at her quietly for the longest time, almost like he was examining her. It creeper her out until he nodded and agreed, “Alright. I trust you.”
Hearing those words made her blood rush with excitement and she excitedly turned to her partner, red card in hand, “Ready partner? Digimodify! Digivolution Activate!”
“Renamon! Warp-Digivolve to! Taomon!” her partner shouted, appearing in her long flowing robes and holding her massive brush in her hands. She scooped Rika up and took to the air, Rapidmon following just behind with Henry. They didn’t have a moment to lose if they were going to save Juri or the others. But her focus was distracted by what Ryo said, his words echoing in her mind. But it was soon forgotten when Rapidmon added, “Hey, Rika! You’re redder than the red card!”
...
Juri leapt off the serpent’s head and watched the creature slither off into a large mound on the ground. It curled in on itself, coiling its body around its many heads to keep warm, “You are only to care for us. Try anything and we will eat you.”
“Right, rest well Orochimon! We’ll keep you from choking on your own vomit,” Takato waved, hurrying to join her, “Sorry again, Juri. I panicked but we’ll get out of this! Somehow.”
“Well you’d better think of something,” Leomon looked around nervously, “I don’t know how to swim and we’re miles from land. I don’t suppose Guilmon can fly when he digivolves?”
“His breath stinks,” the dinosaur mumbled just as Orochimon burped so loudly that she was sure he was going to break the island apart with the sheer force of it. Then the smell came and Juri covered her nose in disgust. Leomon followed suit, pushing Juri behind him to try and block some of it, “By the Guardians, that smell is horrendous. It’s like a million Numemon climbed in his gullet and died!”
“Three-hundred and twenty-eight,” one of Orochimon’s many heads answered, one of its eyes open so that it could look at them, “They thought they could poison me from the inside and make me sick. They didn’t think their plan through. Then again, they’re about as smart as they are beautiful. Can’t blame them after what I did to ShogunGekomon. Fat bastard had it coming anyway. More important, keep your mouths shut if you don’t want me to eat you.”
“Sorry,” Tamerkato put his hands together apologetically, “We’re new so we didn’t know. But what happened to ShogunGekomon?”
“I’m a snake. He’s a toad. Nature took its course,” the head answered, “Now shut up.”
It hissed that last part, preventing Tamerkato from prodding it with anymore questions. Satisfied, the eye closed and the serpent quietly returned back to dozing. They all waited in silence for the longest time, waiting for a sign to make sure the serpent actually was asleep. Ten minutes later, one of the heads was snoring and they all breathed a sigh of relief. Leomon asked at a hushed whisper, leaning in so they could hear him, “So what now?”
“Outlived another one,” Tamerkato whispered back, shaking his head and scratching his hair, “Okay. Options. We could attack. But we have two digimon and he has eight heads so you’d only manage to startle him before he eats us all. We could actually do the care taker part but he’ll probably eat us over the course of however long we’re here. There are plenty of trees which gives us plenty of hiding spots. Eight heads means he can search more so...so...”
“Tamer, do you have an idea or don’t you?” Leomon asked quietly. Juri knew he didn’t. He could tell by that look in his eye - the same look he had when he was told WarGreymon was dead. Something was eating at him - possibly ShogunGekomon. But what did outlived another one mean? She wanted to ask, but the idea of knowing another of his secrets filled her dread. Why did he keep so many? And what else was there? He’d promised that he wouldn’t keep so many. So how many more things did they not know? Before she could ask, Takato stepped away and started pacing. He examined each of the heads carefully as he walked, “Why does it have eight heads?”
She gave the rest of the serpentine digimon another closer look. All eight heads were nestled in on themselves so that it could sleep off the alcohol. But what did that have to do with the eight heads? It was funny. It made her think of the hydra myth they’d learned in classical literature. It was such an odd story to think about. Tamerkato looked at Leomon, “How quickly do you think can slice through each head?”
“What?” Juri and Leomon answered in unison. Tamerkato pointed at the serpent, “We’ll need to dispatch each head fast because as soon as the first one comes off, he’ll wake up. They’ll wake up. Whatever. Juri, use your digivice to give Leomon a speed and strength boost. As soon as she does, start going for the heads Leomon. Oh, and Juri.”
He went through his deck quickly and handed her a card, “Use this. It’ll help.”
She looked down and saw it said WarGreymon’s Brave Shield in big letters on top. She knew this card from the few times Tamerkato used it. She understood why he wanted her to use the card but not the sudden reversal on attacking Orochimon. He seemed keen to avoid a fight earlier. So why now?
“What are we doing?” she asked nervously, fearful of his answer.
“Letting nature take its course. On your mark,” he replied coldly. She nodded nervously, readying the cards she’d been given along with some cards she knew would help. Tamerkato did the same and they swiped their cards together, “DigiModify!”
“Strength Boost Activate! Speed Boost Activate! WarGreymon’s Brave Shield Activate!”
“Digivolution Activate!”
Their digimon partners glowed with light as they took strength from their digivices. Juri worried the burst of light would awake the giant serpent. It didn’t. What did was Guilmon’s cry, “Guilmon! Digivolve to! Growlmon!”
The first head looked up to examine the noise just as Leomon leapt upon it and sliced it off with a swing of his sword. The remaining seven heads jolted awake, screeching in pain and turning their attention on Leomon. The lion spun his blade in his hand so that he held it in reverse and leapt forward at the next head, cleaving it off before the others had any time to react. Now they were mad and began flying at Leomon. But he easily stayed just one step ahead, dodging through the strikes with his augmented speed. Not that he needed it. The serpent heads were still slowed from their drinking and couldn’t quite keep up with Leomon.
“Bastards! I’ll kill you!” one of the heads hissed in anger. As the fight dragged on, Juri noticed Tamerkato keeping Growlmon from jumping into the fight despite the growling noises he made. He obviously wanted to help and didn’t like being kept back. Until she considered Tamerkato’s emotional state. Growlmon didn’t want to help. He just wanted to attack. And he was only restrained because of Tamerkato.
She asked, “What are you doing?”
“Waiting,” he answered quietly. Waiting for what? As she thought about it, she noticed one of neck stumps writhing as something began convulsing out. It slid out with a sickening splat as a new head appeared. The head leered at Leomon, “You messed up, Leomon.”
“Now,” Tamerkato pointed at the head. Now Growlmon leapt in and cut the head off with his claws, causing the serpent to hiss in pain. Tamerkato called out, “Now burn the neck stump, Growlmon!”
“Pyro Blaster!” he roared, spewing out a ball of red fire at the neck stump. The serpent roared even louder and writhed in agony as its flesh burned and the open neck stump was cauterized shut. The attack was so vicious that Juri covered her mouth in shock. Sure, this was just like the myth she’d read about, she’d never once thought about how gruesome it was. Even for him, this was something else. It was...cruel. Then he called out, “Okay! Leomon! Cut off the heads! Growlmon! Burn them!”
“Juri?” Leomon looked over his shoulder at her. She looked from Tamerkato to the writhing serpent, hesitating for a moment before nodding in agreement, “Do it.”
The lion nodded hesitantly before leaping back into the fight, leaping between the heads and slicing them off when an opening presented itself. One, then another. Every time he cut a head off, Growlmon would burn the neck stump shut so that it couldn’t escape. Any time Leomon couldn’t dodge an attack, he used the brave shield to block the teeth and protect himself from being eaten. This continued back and forth with the two digimon working together until there was only one head left. The main head.
It leered at them angrily, “HOW DARE YOU! YOU ATTACK ME WHILE I SLEEP!?”
“You killed ShogunGekomon,” Tamerkato answered quietly, a glare on his face that she had never seen before. The serpent hissed, “And now I’LL KILL YOU!”
The last head leapt at him in a suicidal maneuver, completely ignoring Leomon who leapt up and sliced his head clean off. Then Growlmon jumped on it and cauterized the wound with his fire before the head could regrow. Once all the heads were off, the serpent fell still on the ground - before dispersing into data that both Growlmon and Leomon absorbed. All the while, Tamerkato stared at the remains with the coldest expression she’d ever seen - a kind of malicious look. Then it vanished, replaced with hurt. A sad and longing look that he had when they first came to the Digital World. The same one when they were at the house under the lake. She reached out to him quietly, “Tamer? Takato?”
“I’m fine,” he answered, pocketing his hands and turning away, “We should figure out how to get off this island. Maybe we could make a raft?”
“JURI!”
“GROWLMON!”
Everyone looked up to see Rapidmon and Taomon flying their way. The two digimon descended on the island, dropping off Rika and Henry who scanned the island for the serpent. Rika asked first, “Where’s Orochimon?”
“We took care of it,” Tamerkato answered matter of factly, continuing towards Taomon, “Get us out of here. I want to go back to the village.”
Miffed at being a commanded like that, Rika snapped, “Don’t boss me aro-”
“I’m not in the mood for your mood, Rika,” Tamerkato cut her off angrily, the malicious look in his eye returning in full force. For once, Rika cowed fearfully and nodded. Once Tamerkato was out of ear shot, Rika whispered, “What’s with him?”
“I don’t know,” she answered sheepishly.

Like the Heart Goes Chapter 10: This may be your chance, so don’t think twice
Pairing: Past Rob Benedict x Reader, Reader x Adam Fergus?
Summary: Breaking up is hard. Especially when you are going through it publicly. Rob and Reader are doing just that; trying to navigate the difficulties of an emotional breakup while still trying to remain civil enough to work together, and adding inquisitive fans and over involved friends to the equation certainly isn’t helping.
Everything is a mess. Everyone knows about the Reader’s date with Adam, including Rob. She just can’t figure out why Rob is so concerned about it. Also, there’s a reason why the Reader rarely drinks.
Word Count: 4215
Warnings: some fluff, some angst, some potty words, and a lot of mood swings.
Note: Sorry for the constant updates? I’m just on a roll with this one and I don’t want to keep the chapters on hold as they get written.

Saturday
“I know you want me to leave you alone, but we need to talk about work related stuff.”
Startled, you turned towards Rob’s voice, unaware that he was even in the green room with you.
“What’s up?” You asked hesitantly.
“The concert. You didn’t show up to any of the rehearsals, so you better pick a song that we know well enough to just do without practice.”
“I’m not singing tonight,” you stated plainly.
“What? Why? You always sing.”
“I used to, yeah. But, come on Rob… things are different now.”
“So, you’re not coming at all?” Rob looked at you, concerned over the fact that you were bailing on the concert altogether. In the many years that you have been on the convention circuit, you had never backed out of a performance. The fans looked forward to you and Rob singing. But, that was before Rob had left you.
“No, I’ve got other things to do,” you said as you started to move away from him. Just as you had gotten a few feet from him, he spoke up again.
“You’re going out with him again, aren’t you?” You stopped dead in your tracks, surprised by his question, and more surprised that he somehow knew.
“Excuse me?” You said as you turned back to face him.
“Adam. I know you went out with him last night.” Rob suddenly became nervous. You couldn’t be certain, but you detected a hint of hurt in his expression.
“And, how did you…?”
“I overheard Briana talking about it to the girls. Secrets don’t really stay secret around here.”
“It wasn’t a secret, I just didn’t realize anyone knew.”
“Well, she was talking about how he asked you out. That was all I heard. I got confirmation from Twitter though. The fans, they always know what’s going on.”
“I assume there are pictures?” You asked curiously. It was awkward to even be discussing this with him, but you really hoped you had avoided having pictures all over the internet even if it had just been a friendly dinner.
“No, but people saw you together. They’re just talking.”
“Oh,” you breathed out, relieved that it wasn’t anything more, “well, I’m not sure that it’s any of your business.”
“No, it’s not. I was just observing,” Rob said. You turned from him again, ready to walk away, “Hey, you shouldn’t let him stop you from doing the things that you love to do, you know?”
“He’s not stopping me from doing the concert, Robert,” you argued. You faced him again, trying your best to keep your cool, “you are.”
“Me?”
“I’m still so angry with you. It still hurts to be near you; but, unfortunately, we have to work together. I just figure it’s easier for me if I distance myself from you as much as I can.”
“I’m sorry,” he mumbled, “please, just don’t call me Robert. You only do that when you’re mad at me.”
“I have to admit I’m a little pissed right now.”
“I shouldn’t have said anything. What you do and who you do it with isn’t my business anymore, I know that. I just hope he’s decent to you.”
You glared at him, displeased with the tone he was taking with you. It was almost as if he disapproved of you spending time with Adam. You were confused as to why it might even be an issue with him.
“Adam is a nice guy,” you stated, unsure as to why you felt the need to defend him and yourself to Rob, “regardless of that, you of all people shouldn’t be concerned.”
“I just, wish we could still get along,” Rob sighed, changing the subject slightly, “I wish you would still involve yourself in these things that we’ve always done together.”
“If I keep doing that, it’s going to make me crazy. You’re the one wanted to end this. Please don’t expect me to stick around just because it benefits you. Don’t make me feel shitty because you think I still owe you something.”
“I don’t think you owe me anything-”
“Then stop acting like I do!” You had finally lost your cool. It was one thing for him to take note of the fact that you had been out with Adam, it was a different thing completely for him to sit there, acting as if he was concerned with how Adam treated you. “You left me! Stop thinking that I need to sit here and tell you if I’m happy or not. Stop expecting me to think that you’re a great guy because you pretend that you’re looking out for me.”
“Okay, you’re right. I’m sorry. I overstepped.”
“Stop apologizing,” you spat out as you turned from him again. You headed for the door, seething over his behavior, “Oh, and stay out of my business.”
When the day had ended, you rushed to meet Adam. He had mentioned that he had something planned for the two of you. You were nervous, but more excited than anything. For some reason, you knew that whatever he had planned was going to be fun. Also, you really enjoyed getting to know him. He was new and interesting and just being around him made you smile.
“Mini golf?” You asked.
“I hope it’s okay. I would’ve taken you to play real golf, but it’s late.” “It’s great, I love golf,” you said happily.
“Really? You play?”
“I used to,” you replied, “it’s been a long time though.”
“What? I don’t think I could go for too long without playing.”
“I mean, when you’re constantly with someone who has no interest in it, you sort of lose focus on it.”
“Did the two of you have anything in common?” He asked smugly. You watched him as he got into his stance, focusing on his shot.
“Not really, no,” you answered truthfully.
“Interesting,” he stated simply as he took his shot.
“Hey, we still made it work. For as long as we could anyway. Although, it is kinda nice to hang out with someone that shares interests with me.”
“So, good choice for a date?”
“Yeah, this is a great choice.”
“So, this is a date then?” He asked, eyeing you carefully as you stepped up for your turn.
“Yeah, this is a date,” you chuckled, shaking your head at him.
“Perfect. So, if I win, I get to kiss you,” he announced cheekily.
“Oh, you think so?” You laughed, “Well, if I win, you get to make a public post on social media that states that I am better than you.”
“Wow, ruthless,” he said with a grin, “I like it.”
You and Adam played through your game. You talked the entire time, getting to know more about each other. You hadn’t taken the time to get to know anyone quite like this, not within the past few years anyway. The more you talked, the more you realized how much you had in common with him. You hadn’t felt a connection like this with anyone before. Not even with Rob. You loved Rob, you always had and you were sure that a part of you always would despite what he had done. However, you had never had conversation like this with him. You had never found yourself so intrigued and excited over how many similarities the two of you had. Actually, you and Rob were very opposite. Most of what you enjoyed, he didn’t; and vice versa. Now that you thought about it, you weren’t even sure how the relationship had lasted as long as it did. You always assumed that it was a case of opposites attract, but, in the aftermath of everything, you thought that maybe you were really meant to be with someone that actually understood you.
“You’re fairly quiet tonight,” Adam said, “what’s on your mind?”
“I’m just thinking about how terrible you are at mini golf,” you laughed. You waved the scorecard in his face, reminding him that you were winning.
“Yeah, yeah,” he rolled his eyes, “maybe I’m just letting you win.”
“You don’t seem like the kind of guy to just allow your date to win.”
“You’re right, I’m not. I’m actually very frustrated that you’re showing me up.”
You smiled as you lined up your next shot, focusing intently on making sure that you beat him. The competitive nature of the date had you excited. This was certainly not how activities with Rob had ever been. The man was always concerned with making sure that you won at whatever you were doing. As you focused, Adam began to whistle loudly, obviously trying to distract you.
“Stop it,” you warned, not taking your eye off the ball.
“Don’t mess up on the last hole,” he said, “Otherwise, I still have a chance.”
You grinned, as you prepared to take your shot. You pulled back gradually, following through with your swing and you watched the ball as it rolled up and over the small hills and right into the hole. You swung your putter over your shoulder, looking at Adam smugly.
“I do believe that even if you sink this shot, I’ve still won.”
“You’re such a show off,” he said, shaking his head. He nodded to you, indicating that you had won the game and he was bowing out gracefully.
“I can’t wait to read about what a loser you are on Twitter.”
“Like I said, ruthless,” he chuckled as he pulled his phone out of his pocket, “but, you have to be in the picture with me.”
You moved next to him and he put his arm around you as you posed. You felt your heartbeat quicken again as he touched you. You smiled happily as he prepared his phone to take the picture. You were smiling for a lot of reasons; because you had actually won the game, the fact that he was touching you, and the fact that you realized that you really liked him. He kept his arm around you; offering a dramatic frown as you continued to smile. You didn’t even look at the phone, your focus was on him and how attractive he was. Before you could even set yourself up for the picture, he had snapped it, moving his arm away from you as he started to post it.
Not long after he shared the picture, you got a notification on your own phone. You pulled it out to see that he had tagged you in his post, “I gracefully lost a game of golf to the lovely @Y/T/H. Don’t let her cute face fool you, she’s merciless.” You chuckled to yourself as you replied to his tweet, “You forgot to mention that I am better than you.”
The two of you headed back to the hotel after a quick late night dinner. You made him pay since you had won at mini golf. Even though you had spent the last two days talking and getting to know each other, even the conversation through dinner never went stale. You felt happy just being around him, and you honestly hadn’t stopped laughing the entire time you had spent with him.
As you started to head back to the rooms, Adam checked his phone, reading through some messages before he stopped you with a new plan.
“Drinks?” Adam asked.
“Where?”
“The concert is over, everyone is heading to a bar nearby.”
“I don’t know…” you replied hesitantly. You wanted to spend time with your friends, but you really wanted to avoid Rob, especially after the conversation from earlier that day.
“Y/N, you’re allowed to hang out with your own friends. Just because he will be there, doesn’t mean that you can’t be there too.”
“He just… puts me in such a bad mood when I see him, and I’ve been having such a good time with you. I don’t want to spoil it.”
“Hey, I’m always here to make you smile, maybe make you forget about him for a moment.”
You recalled how you had completely forgotten that Rob even existed during karaoke, all because Adam made sure he paid attention to you, making you laugh and being silly.
“Okay, fine. It could be fun.”
You and Adam arrived at the bar together. You made sure to distance yourself from him, not wanting anyone to think anything was going on between the two of you other than just hanging out. You don’t know why you were so concerned about what anyone else thought, you just knew that you didn’t want anyone to look at you as if you were a bad person. For some reason, throughout the breakup, you had felt like you were the bad guy. It was stupid, as none of it was really your fault as far as you knew, but you always believed that if the moment came when people would have to pick sides; they would choose Rob. So, you stayed a safe distance from Adam for the most part, but continued to stay by his side. You continued to talk and laugh together.
You finally had a chance to hang out with your friends, all of you gathered at a table as everyone drank even though most of them seemed to have had enough for the night. Even Rob sat with all of you, and all you could do was nervously avoid his stare.
At one point, Adam disappeared for a few minutes, only to return to your side with two shot glasses in his hands. He handed you one, giving you a wink as he downed his own shot.
“Wh-what is this?” you asked nervously.
“Whiskey, and it’s the good stuff.”
“Oh, okay,” you put the glass to your lips, wondering if it was a good idea to partake. You had already had a few beers at dinner but you didn’t want to seem like a lightweight in front of him. During your hesitation, you heard Rob scoff loudly across from you. You looked up at him.
“She doesn’t drink, you idiot,” Rob pointed out rudely to Adam, “not usually anyway.”
Adam looked at you, “you had wine at dinner the other night, and a couple of drinks earlier…”
“I just don’t usually drink,” you replied, “it’s not like I’m not allowed to though.” You glared at Rob, pissed that he even interfered.
“I’m not trying to force you or anything, I just thought you’d like a drink.”
“I just, have low alcohol tolerance. I can’t keep up most of the time.”
“Aw, honey,” Adam cooed at you. He rubbed your back gently, “you just need someone who’s willing to look after you if you get a little tipsy.”
“And you’ll do that?” you chuckled, “you’ll take care of me if I get wasted.”
“That escalated quickly, but yes. I would do that.”
You smiled at him and downed your shot quickly, reaching for his beer to chase it when you realized that it was a little more difficult to handle than you had expected.
“That’s my girl!” he exclaimed. You glanced over to Rob again who was staring down at his drink, looking pretty pissed off. “Let’s dance,” Adam said as he took your hand and led you to the dance floor.
“I don’t dance,” you explained as soon as he had managed to get you out there..
“Sure you do,” he argued. He wrapped his arms around your waist and you immediately rested your arms over his shoulders. He began to move you as the two of you danced. “See. Look at you, dancing.”
You giggled, looking around to see who was watching you. Of course, a few of your friends had taken notice and it made you nervous as they stared. You caught sight of Rob by accident, who was sitting alone at the bar now, definitely looking in your direction. You turned your head quickly, not wanting to know what he must be feeling. You had to remind yourself that it didn’t matter anymore.
“Don’t look at him,” Adam whispered in your ear, “the more you look at him, the more it hurts.”
“You know, it hurts a lot less now that I’ve been spending time with you.”
“Good. Because I like you. I like seeing you smile.”
You did just that at his words; smiled.
“Why are you so nice to me?” You asked.
“Why wouldn’t I be?”
“I don’t know…” you trailed off. You wanted to ask him so many questions, mostly to figure out why he showed interest in a screw up like you, “I mean, I did kick your butt at golf.”
“Ah, I’m only upset that I didn’t win that kiss.”
You felt your face flush as you ran your fingertips down the back of his neck. You had to admit, it was really nice to be in his arms. You leaned back to look at him, suddenly feeling brave.
“You know, maybe you could get a participation award,” you said as you stared into his eyes.
“I might like that.”
Before you could stop yourself, you were leaning into him, eyes still focused on his as your lips ghosted his for a brief moment. You wanted to kiss him, but something was stopping you. Your heart raced with anticipation, your stomach doing cartwheels as you waited there; trying to decide if this was too much, too soon.
Suddenly, it seemed as if he couldn’t wait much longer because he was crashing his lips to yours before you could think about making the move anymore. It caught you off guard and you gasped against his lips as you tried to steady yourself. He was definitely kissing you. You curled your fingers into the front of his shirt, starting to push at him to make him stop. You didn’t push hard enough to indicate that you wanted him to stop though, and eventually you just gave up. Instead of trying to put distance between you, you noticed that you were pulling at him, trying to bring him closer as he continued to kiss you softly.
You were still nervous. This was different from any other kiss you had ever had. It wasn’t rushed, and he kept it chaste by just pressing his lips against yours gently. His lips were soft and not at all what you had expected from him. After a while, you decided that you wanted more, so you parted your lips against his, hoping he would get the hint. He read you well, allowing his tongue to meet yours as you deepened the kiss. You were sure you moaned into his mouth, excited over how nice this felt. You hadn’t been kissed in a long time. He tasted like whiskey and mint, and you couldn’t get enough of it.
You gradually worked your hands from his shirt to the back of his neck again, pulling him closer as you continued to kiss. This was different, but amazing. You felt your head spin, knees buckling beneath you. You really hoped that you hadn’t been tipsy in that moment, because you couldn’t tell if it was the whiskey or his lips that had the effect on you.
You suddenly became very aware that you were making out with him in the middle of a bar; where all of your friends were, where many of your fans probably were, and where Rob definitely was.
You pulled away from him, breathing heavy as you finally came back for air. He did the same, smiling at you as watched you try to regain your composure. He pulled you back in, pressing his lips against your ear so you could hear him.
“Don’t get so flustered, that was nice.”
“I can’t make out with you in the middle of a bar full of people that I work with,” you argued. You were definitely flustered and slightly humiliated that you had let this happen.
“You mean, you can’t make out with me in front of your ex,” he stated simply, “who, by the way, hasn’t stopped staring at us.”
“Oh god,” you mumbled, “please just stop.”
“You’re worried that he’s pissed off now. You’re worried that you’ve hurt his feelings.”
“Quit telling me how I feel and what I’m thinking!” you yelled. You pulled back from him, swatting his hand away as he tried to console you. “I just- I shouldn’t be kissing someone this soon. I just became single.”
“It’s been a month, Y/N,” he reminded you.
“Yeah, only a month! Everyone is going to think I’m a slut.”
“Hey!” Adam raised his voice, his amused expression turning serious at your words, “don’t you ever talk about yourself like that.”
“Well, they will! I’m a horrible person. I should be staying in, letting myself feel sad because I am still sad. I shouldn’t be here with you.”
“Okay,” he started. He grabbed your arm gently, walking toward the exit, “let’s just get you out of here.”
He walked you out of the bar as quickly as you could while you began to cry, the alcohol definitely catching up to you. You didn’t want to do it, but your immediate reaction was to turn to Rob. He was still at the bar, only now he was standing, with Matt in front of him, almost as if Matt was holding him back from something. You watched Rob as he watched you walk out of there with Adam. You wanted to stop feeling bad for him; but he followed you with his eyes, looking concerned.
“Great, now everyone just saw me leave with you,” you stated when you finally got outside. You were still crying, hiccuping as you spoke. You were dizzy and your face was numb. All you wanted to do was sleep it off.
“It’s better than everyone watching you have a meltdown.”
You rolled your eyes at him. Why you were suddenly so put off by him you didn’t know. After all, you had initiated the kiss.
“I-I just want to go back to my room,” you sputtered.
“Okay, I’ll walk you,” Adam said as he tightened his grip on your arm.
“No,” you interjected, “don’t. Just leave me alone. Go back to the bar and tell everyone I left on my own.”
“You really don’t want people to think you left with me,” he observed. He frowned at you, probably hurt that you really didn’t want to be seen with him right now.
“I’m not leaving with you,” you reminded him, “I’m not taking you home, I’m not going to sleep with you.”
“Hey, I never said anything…” Adam argued. He had his hands up now, a puzzled look on his face as he tried to gauge your sudden strange behavior.
“That’s what you’re trying to do, isn’t it?”
He dropped his hands, shaking his head at you, looking disgusted now. You felt bad for hurting his feelings, but for some reason, the words didn’t stop.
“No one just shows up, interested in a girl who literally just got dumped. I know what this is, you’re thinking that I’m sad and pathetic enough right now, that you can be really nice to me and easily get me into bed with you.”
“I really hope this is the whiskey talking,” Adam laughed.
“It’s just me.”
“I don’t know what you want me to say, Y/N. I like you. I just do. I’m sorry if I pushed you into anything you didn't want to do.”
“I’m mad at you,” you pouted. Truthfully, you were mad at yourself. You had let the kiss happen even though you really meant to hold off on it. You were mad that you had just now hurt his feelings and made a fool of yourself yet again. You were mad that you felt the need to push him away just because you were still so torn up over Rob. You were mad that you couldn’t let yourself at least try to be happy again.
“You’re an adorable drunk,” he chuckled. For some reason, this made you even more mad. You felt like this was a serious thing that had just happened, and here he was, joking about it.
“It’s not funny,” you mumbled.
“Okay, you’re still mad,” he said, “then we’ll just see if you’re still mad at me in the morning.”
You grinned at him and his cockiness. Even with you berating him for no real reason, he maintained his stance on showing interest in you. The man was intriguing for sure.
Before you could say anything else, Briana exited the bar and noticed you. She walked over to you, embracing you.
“Are you okay? What happened?” She turned to Adam accusingly.
“Nothing,” you replied, “there’s still a reason that I don’t drink. I was just done being horrible to Adam, and now I’m going to go home and hope that he can forgive me in the morning.”
Adam smiled at you, “I would never hold anything against you.”
“Walk me home, Bri?”
“Yeah, I’m heading back too.”
“Goodnight Adam,” you said before you turned from him.
“Goodnight, beautiful,” he replied.
You and Briana walked away from him, a grin still present on your face despite all the crying you had just done. You may have overreacted, but it didn’t seem to scare him off.

Mildly edited RP (because some dialogue are with other people and context would be needed) at the fall ball with Quill on disc.cord. Basically, Swap and the other hosts fake their deaths at the party and Yumi didn’t take it very well… among other things that happened. ((This is only part 1 because Tumblr has a 100 paragraphs limit, apparently.))
Yumi glared at Swap, even though she was very clearly angry, tears almost instantly started flowing out of eyes. She started walking towards him, quickly, running. I’m her head, she was going for a slap, but she was so angry that she made a fist-
Wait- YuMI NO YOUKNOWKARATE! YOU'REGOINGTO-
JBAF!
A second before the plushies hit him, Yumi did. Directly in the face. There might have been a very slight crack sound. It’s a wonder he didn’t get knocked out. He had no idea she could pack such a punch. A literal punch. He didn’t have time to think on it as a second later he was pelted by plushies and pillows, being buried alive. A soft demise.
Yumi almost regretted what she did, but anger was still present. But she didn’t actually want him to die for real this time. She grabbed whatever she could under the pillows who were suffocating him and lift him back up. She was still mad and crying, get ready for a scolding.
“S-Swap, what the fuck!? WHY would you do something like that!? Do you know… hic… how much I WAS FUCKING UPSET!?”
Luckily he couldn’t actually suffocate but it was pretty claustrophobic. He was kinda dizzy from that punch and clung to Yumi when she grabbed him. He managed to focus on her and felt so much guilt. “i-i meant to t-tell you!” He clung tighter. “i-i’m s-so sorry! i-i couldn’t f-find the time a-and i had a plan b-but it might spoil things a-and we worked so hard a-and- h-holy SHIT you punch hard.” His eyelights were shifting a bit in size and slipping out of focus from how dazed he was. He shook his head hoping to make the ringing sound stop.
She could not see him, too many tears, if she did she would be waited for later to scold him.
“That doesn’t matter! And you could’ve told me BEFORE! YOU KNEW I was coming! But that doesn’t mean you can still make believe people ACTUALLY FUCKING DIED!!”
“And I’m not just upset at you I’m upset at ALL the hosts! Doing something like that is- IT’S NOT FUNNY!!”
She was done now, clinging at Swap. Wait, nevermind she had one more thing to say. But, she kissed him where his lips would be, first.
“Don’t fucking do that to me again… okay?”
He sunk into himself more and more at her words. He was about to speak when he was surprised by a kiss. His whole face turning blue. He blinked in surprise, his eyelights were focused now and heart shaped. He nodded. Shouldn’t he worry about the room filling with plushies and pillows? He was too focused on Yumi to care.
Yumi had calmed down, all that yelling and crying had made her exhausted, not to mention she felt a little hot on her face, for blushing.
“I-I’m sorry for yelling so much… I just… just don’t do that again.”
“A-Are you okay, though? I punched you way harder than I wanted to… s-sorry.”
He had a very small crack on the side of his face. Nothing too bad though. “i-i’m fine. y-you’re really r-really strong!” He sighed in a lovestuck way. Seemed he was still a bit out of it.
It may not have been a bad wound but she knows how hard she punched and he doesn’t seem too much in reality right now. The crack and that worried her.
“Don’t be stubborn Swap. I’m not amazing at healing but you should get patched up and check if you don’t have a concussion.”
Although, she questioned if that was even possible, she grabbed his hand and pulled him out of the room a little.
“Can you walk?”
He stumbled a bit but could stand fine. Probably walk. He just kept staring at her with shifting heart eyelights. Even he didn’t know if he could get a concussion. But he sure was dazed. “i-i’m fine. l-little dizzy”
“O-okay.”
She finally arrived at the office. She was worried Swap might’ve fallen while they were walking there.
“Sit down while I get some stuff. Do you know where bandages are?”
Swap stumbled in holding his head. Great. Headache. He managed to flop into a seat. “n-no? i…don’t remember. top drawer?” Yeah he was very dizzy. He pressed his hand to the spot that stung the most and tried to focus enough to use healing magic. It only sparked a bit, slightly lessening it for a split second. He groaned in annoyance. A small illusion on his right hand vanished when he tried to heal his face. It was just a small one making his hand look whole. Without it a hole in his palm was visible. Looked like an old wound though. And strangely clean cut. It would be easily hidden below the gloves he normally wore.
She did see it, his hand. It was similar, no… exactly the same as G’s. She wondered how it happened, to him. However she wasn’t too worried about it. Maybe she’ll ask later, for now there are more pressing issues.
“Hey, don’t! I can do it myself. You already look like you’re in pain. I’ll get the bandages, please be patient.”
She sounded more like a mother than his girlfriend right now. But she did found the health kit and took small-ish bandages to cover his wound and heal him as best she could.
“H-hey, I’m gonna try something, o-okay?”
She knew that her magic was a atunned to her emotions, so why not test it out. She kissed him without warning and hovered her hand over his wound.
Huh, her healing was a little faster but, God, why was it still so slow!? It’s just a small crack dammit. She is also unsure and too embarrassed to kiss him again.
He pouted a bit at having to wait. He hated waiting. At least it was sweet she was fussing so much. He loved seeing her care. It made the small voice that told him otherwise shut up for a while. Gosh he loved her. He again was surprised by a kiss. Dangit! Totally flustered again. She always got him while his guard was down. He decided to get a little revenge. He cupped her face and pulled her into another kiss, backing up after a second and smirking in a dazed fashion. He felt so proud of himself.
She basically fell because of how sudden and really an off position to be in to be suddenly kissed by your s/o. However, she didn’t stumble too much, grabbing the back of the chair for stability.
She was even more flustered, yes, but she wanted to kiss him again. She did, a longer one, this time, clumsily keeping herself from falling.
Her heart was beating a lot, she felt like their magic was giving small harmless electric surges to each other. She was blushing a little purple, like the first time they kissed. They should probably stop before some embarrassing stuff happens. She pulled away, clearing her throat.
“U-Um… I should probably continue healing you.”
And flustered again. He leaned into the kiss a bit. A few sparks popping. It ended so soon. He felt so light that he almost didn’t even feel the crack. He wanted to hug her and never let go. Be close and listen to her heartbeat. Hold her hand. He was soooooo smitten. He nodded a bit and giggled like a child who just got a treat. Heart eyelights sparkling. He was still dizzy but that didn’t bother him at the moment. He could only think about how pretty she was.
She placed her hand over his wound again and quickly finished healing him. It left a small scar but it was way quicker to heal him than before, probably because of the kiss she gave him. It did make her feel like her magic was sparking a lot more.
After putting a small bandage on his mostly healed crack she backed away a little and yawned.
“W-Well I’m all done. Do you feel better?”
His head cleared more when it was patched up. He pain had gone away but a headache remained. Which was annoying him. “y-yeah.” He was a little worried about the world spinning. Normally it calmed down by now. Oh wait- He pressed his hand to the back of his neck, taking a breath before a big spark of magic popped which made his eyelights vanish. It took a good thirty seconds for them to show up again but it evened out the dizziness. Something must have gotten set off with his magic levels. It was surprisingly easy to do. He squinted. Oh great. He forgot it made things more blurry for a time. He could hardly see like this. “m-much better! fixed the dizziness too. just…uh….” He looked embarrassed. “d-don’t laugh okay?” And with that he got a pair of glasses out of his inventory. They were large and round and when put on with tape they took up quite a bit of his face. At least he could see with them. Worth it to be able to see her. He couldn’t remember if he’d ever worn them around her before or just told her about them. But he still felt embarrassed for how nerdy they made him look.
“Why would I-?”
Oh my god, those glasses looked so big on him. He looked like a huge nerd, a cute nerd. Holy shit, she couldn’t help but shyly smile. She couldn’t help but say it ou y loud either.
“You look so cute. Why would I laugh?”
He wrung his hands sheepishly. “b-because i look l-like a dork…a-and not as cool as i normally do…?” Girls liked cool guys right?…She seemed to like this too though. Maybe she just liked him. Aaaaand there was that light happy feeling again.
She giggled.
“You are a dork, Swap.”
“You dont need to look cool for me. I like you because you’re you, a huge dork.”
She chuckled shyly. What is she even saying? Stop talking, Yumi, you’re embarrassing yourself.
He beamed brightly. She liked him for him? Well of course she did! Duh what was he even thinking? Worrying about that stuff. He was still a little embarrassed but it was okay. He hopped up and hugged her tightly. “you’re the best!” He paused and put a hand over where the crack had been. “a-and you can really pack a punch.” His eyelights turned into little stars and he looked up at her. “you’re cute and badass!” The best combination. He’d be sure not to get on her bad side.
She jolted a little by the sudden hug, but she did hug him back, giving him a warm smile. However, it turned into a much more embarrassed expression, as he continued complimenting her.
“U-Um… t-thanks.”
“B-But, sorry about that… a-again… I should’ve hold off, since I know karate and all…”
He seemed far too excited about getting punched. “it was super cool! i didn’t see it coming! probably deserved it honestly.” He just seemed to get more excited. “you know karate?! oh my gosh! that’s amazing!” He stood up straighter. “i’m actually pretty tough myself! training for the royal guard and all. so you don’t have to worry!”
Despite still feeling bad for punching him so hard, she couldn’t help but blush even more. He was complimenting her way more than she thought she deserved.
“T-Thanks… and I’ve heard of them, in my world but… I think they disbanded. Or… maybe they serve for something else?”
“But, it’s pretty cool that you’re training in it. S-Still… I shouldn’t have punched you so hard.”
Disbanded? Odd. “it’s fine! i’m use to taking hits.” He sunk a bit into himself. “i made you cry. probably would have punched myself for that.” He bounced back. “really it’s no problem! i get cracks all the time! don’t guilt yourself about it!”
“O-Okay…”
She lowered herself a little, hugging him tightly.
“I-I’m just… I’m glad you’re okay.”
“i’m glad you’re okay too!” He clung tightly for a moment before remembering something. “oh! do you need anything? been eating well? it’s been a little hectic.”
She paused. She hasn’t slept or eaten much, him reminding her of this made her suddenly feel exhausted, but also hungry. She yawned, as her stomach loudly growled.
“W-Well… not really…”
“But, I don’t want to sleep yet! We haven’t spent much time together… but… I should eat something.”
He nodded worriedly. “wanna go to the kitchen? elly made sure we’d have a wide selection of things. what you in the mood for?”
Her stomach growled again as she thought of what to eat.
“Maybe it’s not a good idea because it’s so late but… I could really go for anything that’s meaty.”
“we have lots of things like that! one of my favorites of course would be tacos. but we have other things too if you want! it’s pretty easy to gather things when you have portals. you can get anything from around the world! and everything that is made here by elly’s weird shadow chefs.”
“Nice.” she chuckles.
“But… yeah, tacos sounds nice. Why not?”
He grinned and took her hand. “tacos it is then! this way!” He led her off to the kitchen seeming to have fully recovered.
“U-Um, by the way, are you gonna eat too? You’ve eaten while you were ‘gone’ right?”
“i’m fine! got a stash of stuff in the secret passages. i’ve been taking care of myself.” He totally ignored the other two in the room and skipped over to find where the tacos were. There seemed to be a lot of stuff to pick from. Even more in the fridges.
It took a moment but he found what he was looking for. A plate with freshly made tacos. He picked it up and spun around to face Yumi. “here we are! take what you like!”
She hesitated a little, but decided to take two at random and leave it at that. She was hungry after all, why would she even hesitate? Well, there also was a lot of choices. She takes a bite.
“Mh! This is really good!”
She starts eating almost like a beast, making herself get a cramp for eating too fast. She pats her chest a lot.
He was glad she enjoyed it but worried about her eating so quickly. He did that all the time but he couldn’t choke. “c-careful! don’t eat too fast! you really haven’t eaten in a while have you?”
After a few more pats she was finally okay. However she shook her apologetically at his question, continuing on eating, but actually taking her time.
“S-Sorry… I was too worried and focused on finding clues to even think about it…”
However, she won’t tell him the last time she ate was YESTERDAY AFTERNOON.
“i’m sorry for worrying you so much. i didn’t think you would react that badly…” He pushed aside the negative thoughts that tried to surface. “but no more of that! just a relaxing party! oh! and i wanted to show you something. whenever you’re done eating we can check it out. plenty of dessert here too if you want any of that.” He sighed. “sadly most of it isn’t sugar free so i haven’t tried it.” He was tempted. Soooo tempted.
“It’s fine Swap, really. I forgive you.”
She gave him a reassuring smile. She was curious about what was the place he wanted to show her, though. She took a few more bites before talking again.*
“Nah, I’m good, I’m not much of a sweets person, anyway.”
“really? i love sweets! even though i shouldn’t have them. just tell me when you’re ready!” He stared at the tacos for a moment before taking one and eating the whole thing in one bite. It was weird how far he could open his mouth actually. How’d he fit it all in?? And it looked like didn’t even chew! Then again how do skeletons even digest things without a stomach. All the questions.
She was surprised but, then again she knew monster food didn’t need to be digested. She finished her food.
“Alright, I’m good.”
“you sure? that enough for you? can’t let my girlfriend starve!” He seemed excited for whatever it was he wanted to show her. Like he could dash off any second. But he also wanted to make sure she was okay. Didn’t want to rush her.
She shook her head and smiled reassuringly.
“No, don’t worry, I’m fine. Besides, I don’t want to eat too much before going to bed.”
“okay!” His excitement got the better of him and he grabbed her hand to lead her off to…the closet?
