#the gilded age#bertha x george#I have no idea what would be typical in that period#we know George gave Bertha limitations re: not spending any more money in trying to buy off the Duke#but this was a special occasion#she seems to be more relaxed about everything else#including getting Christina Nilson to sing at their house#which would have cost a great amount a money#although I do remember George making that comment about Bertha buying more paintings#though it didn't seem to be mean spirited#random post because I'm bored in between classes
