#you just KNOW if the rise in taxes was from a righteous so-called 'plantagenet' they would all have put up or shut up..... /s#i think an insistence that this man was universally popular is kind of belied by how many uprisings and rebellions there were but. yk#it's interesting how differently this one is treated versus the response to the pilgrimage of grace bcus...#i mean. yeah. there are differences . the one in 1536 had a more religious bent#but the cornerstone of both is financial hardship#also this one actually reached london whereas the pilgrimage was routed by assurances (...lies)#i think aske lent a certain legitimacy to it bcus under his leadership there was no violence or looting#altho it did split off and certain groups did threaten violence to lords#(tl: dr pls do not @ me for 'ricardianism'. i am well aware his reign had rebellions/uprisings too#i think it just remains to be seen/known whether he would have had as many . it depends on how it would have shaped out i suppose)#and it's interesting to think about)#depends on what kind of alliances he would have made vs. would perkin warbeck have received the same support in scotland)
