Out of Context Line Tag

I decided on my WIP for an AU of one of my characters, in which they are a character in manga Dungeon Meshi >:))

“How could you forget? I do not slay. I do not kill. I destroy, I exterminate, and, most importantly, I heal. I stop the spread of the disease that has a hold on each of us and, one day, I shall be cured for my efforts."

I drew The Shattered as a Nuhakui!

They are of Glass element, of course :>

After learning of a horrible secret (or doing something horrible~), they went absolutely ballistic - cutting of their Codare. Now, helpless and with no memory of who they are, they can either forge a new life or try to find what was lost.

The first thing they remember is waking up, covered in sweat. They felt cold, so, so cold. They gripped their hands, realizing there is some sorts of object in one of them. A hard handle, and, further, a blade, sharp. They cut their finger on the edge while trying to discern They let loose, the metal clinking to the ground. When dizziness disappeared, they opened their eye, looking around. They were sitting on a chair in some small hut. There was... something, on the ground. A long... appendage, of sorts? Golden in colour, adorned with silver elements. When they tried moving their head, a dull pain in the nape of their neck let itself be known. They tried to touch the spot, feeling... a protrusion, of sorts. They couldn't investigate further, as every touch only intensified the pain, a dull reminder shifting into a burning warning. That was the source of it, they realized. With a heaviness in their legs, they got up, slowly. It was hard to coordinate themselves, but finally, after some struggle, they moved away from the chair. They found a table, a piece of paper and some food placed on it. After devouring the fruit, they turned to the paper. There was text scribbled on it, hastily. They couldn't read it, however, no matter how much they felt they should. They tried reaching, thinking, but they just couldn't keep their mind in one spot. A dreadful feeling set in, one of knowing that one forgot something, but knowing, that it's lost forever. They tried recollecting something, anything, about themselves, but they kept drawing a blank. It seemed as if, no matter where they looked, they could only find fear.

Hmmm, I usually don't use McGuffins, but after some thought I do have one! Albeit in an AU story sksk

In one of my AUs the characters from #drought.times and a different story are pitted against each other. The characters from Drought are ambassadors from their own world and the McGuffin is an extension of the peace treaty between the worlds. All characters strive for it, but what is important to the story is what actions they take to obtain it and how their relationships evolve in the political landscape :>

Whether they achieve the peace treaty or not is not important and it could go either way, so I think it counts as a McGuffin sksk

Honestly, I absolutely love making playlists. Quite a bit of character development happens through playlists for me akxnsksjsj

I basically have at least one playlist for each character in times of drought, at least 3 playlists for AU stuff and two playlists for relations (nobody x nameless, shattered x scourge) and some others dkksks. I also have one general playlist for szekh society, one with 1-3 songs for each god and one for the mc of my current wip and one for a ship of 2 gods, I also have a general, chronological playlist for firstborn.prince. I also have playlists for my ttrpg characters, like 11 of them (taken liberally, bc one of my characters has 3. One for the human, one for an nhp thats placed in his body and one for the original nhp (the nhp in his body is a copied version of the og nhp). Quite a number of playlists, and I still have some I made for specific media (HnK, a book The Brotherhood of Mutilation, two for a LoL ship dksnsj).

All in all, making playlists makes me feel very connected to the characters, I tend to imagine a lot of events hapenning to music in the playlists animatic-style.

Recently, the most of my character building was filling out a doc with descriptions of each god in one of my settings. I have found it really fun to determine stuff like how they act in relation to mortals, how they manifest, what are their relations with other gods, stuff like that. Really fun >:))) I love my excel spreadsheet of their traitss ♡

I really, really like making aus of my characters, be it a crossover with some existing media, or just an in-universe au, it allows me to put the characters in situations they would never find themselves naturally. This allows me to delve deeper into their personalities :^)))

Fun fact I love repurposing my ocs for other settings

I have, among others, remade Nameless into a dunmeshi character and into a gnosia character. I remade Shattered into a steven universe character and into a LoL champion (but that one was long ago and not good lol). I remade Razareth & Glass Demon into Honkai Star Rail characters with abilities etc (they would be busted ngl). The Host is an npc in a Lancer campaign. I have also another oc I dont post about which was repurposed for X-Men, The Boys and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Among others, I dont keep track of all the little aus but its soooo fun!

I just love remolding them into new forms, seeing how I can work their characteristics anew. AUs and crossovers are just my bread and butter.

Okay. This is not canon, it happens in an AU where, instead of fighting on and reuniting the last piece of the Void with the Nobody, Nameless goes the selfish route.

Nameless makes a secret deal with the Illuminated!

In this storyline, after learning that the restoration of the Void they will inevitably fall apart and rot away, the Nameless decides to save not only themselves, but also Nobody. (They thought restoring it will kill him, which is not 100% wrong, but not 100% right)

Giving up the Void Piece, Illuminated's plan is fulfilled. There is no force now that can make the world restore order and balance and the god starts fixing up what has been happening since Nobody learned of his true purpose.

The hive mind never falls apart, no, it grows even more. Nameless ultimately becomes the cornerstone of humanity, keeping up the connection and keeping everyone happy. Right???

Well, no.

To stop his breakdown, Illuminated has used its powers and power it wielded thanks to the Voidpiece to remove his memory, mold it back together without any knowledge of the Void. The operation barely succeeded, leaving Nobody even more of a husk than before. Nameless got their lover alive but not well, barely resembling who he used to be.

The Machine is... well. Fending for itself. Without its soul substitute, and still without any Void existing herself, it cannot maintain the Extranet, the entire network gone. It is lost for some time, without the Voidpiece, but ultimately joins up The Shattered.

Speaking of, The Shattered is absolutely betrayed. At that point of the story they viewed The Nameless as a sibling, and what did they do? Stand against everything they have worked towards, allying with the god and destroying any hope for rest. Shattered is head of a small resistance, they try to find a way to steal back the Voidpiece and return it to the Nobody, allowing for the cycle to renew.

The Scourge returned to Illuminated's favour, becoming once again its angel. She is happy about that, as she views that she had a hand in convincing Nameless to give up the Voidpiece. She has long forgotten Shattered and their relationship.

Nameless is not happy about the final outcome. They wanted to save everyone, to stop death, to save their lover from being eternally erased, but... it's much worse. They have noone left save for a broken husk of Nobody and the leering god.

The song I associate with this AU is Guns for Hire by Woodkid!

I love the imaginery of Illuminated speaking to Nameless, pointing out how they have treated all their friends and allies like mere blocks. The god shows the nameless how their decision was not, in fact, for the best, how they sold everything they worked for together for immortality and 'preserving' Nobody.

Nameless cannot do anything now, only stagnate and maintain the empire they have created.

not everything has stuff in the tag I'm inconsistent with writing real stuff T-T

#s.and.n - worldbuilding focused on my conlang and making up a fictional culture of a species that coexisted with humans for centuries. Their society is authoritarian, kind of theocratic (the leaders are divinely appointed, religion is enforced) and oppresive to its members. I love the setting and recently I've been spending time on developing different gods from it (there are 28 of them :3 )
