love when im writing a fic that isn't set in the us and i realize i've written a line/plot point that is probably a very culturally english-speaking country thing and i get to google fun things like 'do they have shotgun in japan'

#(i did not actually google it that way word for word i have more awareness than that lmao)#basically i was thinking would hinata and kageyama argue over who gets shotgun? yes. but do they know what riding shotgun is???#is there a japanese equivalent?#I DONT KNOW lmao google is so unhelpful about finding out info about other countries #it just keeps telling my the etymology. which IS interesting linguistically but also like. unhelpful lmao #i realize they probably wouldnt use 'shotgun' as the actual word (or they could actually japanese has a fair amount of loanwords for things #like that) but mostly i wanna just know if its a Thing kids do or not to know if 1 it makes sense culturally in what im writing #and 2 if im just totally outing myself as american in the fic lol #alsoo fun fact ive actually never written a fic that IS set in the us lmao #x #even this post itself lmao how pervasive is calling shotgun internationally?? are people gonna think im actually talking about guns 😭😭
