I don't get to do gas chromatography runs at work anymore and it's ridiculous how much I miss it. If my job after graduation doesn't let me work with gases I'm gonna be so sad. Like, I would pay someone to let me run their GC samples, even though that is normally a thing I should get paid for. I just love the GC so much. It makes the best noises and I get to play with needles and show off my hard-won ability to not poke myself with them in the process, which took me two whole years to figure out. I think I'd also be sad if the next GC I work with has a functioning self-lighting FID - I'm fond of Eva's quirks (yes, we named our GC. After the robot from WALL-E.) You know how in Star Wars droids talk with little beeps and chirps? That's what Eva sounds like, plus airplane noises. I'm so ridiculously fond of this non-living thing.
