so SPN and X-Files have a lot of shared DNA, but one of the weirder things they have in common is a main duo with insane sexual & romantic tension that i enjoy the hell out of and... never ever want resolved onscreen. neither relationshipper nor noromo but a secret third thing (actively wanted X-Files to straightbait me FOREVER without ever making Mulder and Scully an item). perceiver & enjoyer of all the wild-ass wincest vibes, but what i want out of Supernatural itself isn't brotherfucking, it's Sam and Dean continuing to be insane about each other while playing increasingly high-risk and psychologically-convoluted games of incest chicken. in fanfiction all bets are off, but in neither case did i want canon to either Go There OR go unambiguously platonic.

of course, in both cases i got what i wanted for a while and then didn't, but lol that X-Files only went there at the point where going there was the least of its betrayals & disappointments, whereas SPN picked the EXTREMELY normal option of "the brothers are married, platonically, and they no longer get to be horny but no one else does either."
