Rubi, if that’s how the divorce arc started, then how did the make up in purgatory go? I have to know what you think
hi katie! okay, i meant to answer this yesterday when it was all clear in my head but I passed out.
In my head, if they did go canon when they were supposed to in s12 or s13, dean and cas would have been working on their relationship like a side project. it's not the priority right now when lucifer and lucifer son was running around. then the addition of chuck and amara they just never had time to really set a strong relationship base. so they tried their best with whatever they had and maybe they did have long talks of "when this is all over me and you will go somewhere...just the two of us." but they never asked for more than that from each other. they probably didn't know how or even if they could.
so when the divorce arcs starts like i said here in this post, I imagine purgatory makeup being dean finally asking cas to stay. promising to prioritize their relationship that was always on the back burner. he would probably say "I'm sorry i should have noticed jack...i should have noticed you were hiding something. i never asked. I never ask what you're doing but i trust you. I do. I'm sorry. I'm sorry please be okay so we can...we can give it another go. and we'll do things right. just please be okay, cas."
i would still expect that bone-crushing hug and that little relief smile. i just think them being together makes the whole glass clink so much better. i would love for cas to say "to another go." and the clink happening when dean says "to us."
hope you enjoy my good spn that lives in my head and sorry if it's hard to understand :)
