Miranda sat at the table, head in her hands. Jonathan across her thought through what she just told him. Silently sipping coffee, he figured the best approach to this will be an interrogation.

“You were part of the League of assassins.”

“Yeah.”

“And you thought it was a good idea to move to Gotham.”

“I didn’t know he came here so often!”

“He does. From time to time Ra’s makes a mess in this city,” agreed Jonathan. “How did that slip you?”

“I guess I didn’t ask right questions,” sighed Miranda in capitulation. She kept tucking on the charm as if she was ready to tear it down and let the ghosts kill her. Empty unfocused gaze showed she is also thinking hard. Is she considering running away? Jonathan knew this bond of theirs were just words. She left her life behind before, why would he be any different?

“You cannot do this, Jonathan,” she surprised him instead of running, “you cannot work for the Demon’s head!”

“Didn’t you say he doesn’t know you?” Jonathan ignored her request on purpose. Even Miranda can’t boss him around. This wasn’t his first job for Ra’s. Most of them were small, drug selling or making correct people crazy. Ra’s was always fair. Now, Jonathan didn’t trust him, however, he didn’t have reason to expect this job will go sideways. When Ra’s promised something, he delivered. Loyalty was more valuable to him than money or whatever else he offered.

“No general knows all his foot soldiers. He is the Demon’s head! I worked under the captain so to say. In completely different part of the world. I’ve seen Ra’s al Ghul once as a kid. Master Khulan wanted us to see him, so we know who we die for.”

“Why worry then?”

“Are you for real?” Miranda grimaced disgusted. “They are the League! If you are not careful… If… Aagh! One wrong step and I am dead!”

Jonathan bit his tongue so he doesn’t say something that would send her to rage. He didn’t need that now. Angry Miranda would be able to book a ticket and fly to Europe without second thought.

“You are supposed to be dead for a decade, Miranda. Just don’t cross their way and you will be okay.”

“I don’t know,” she whispered. “If they realize, I am as good as dead. And they may not stop there. You would be in danger too. Please, Jonathan, the work can’t be that important.”

“You know science is always the most important thing,” he replied in calm voice. “And I cannot cancel now, that would be the real death sentence.”

Miranda grumbled in frustration. “Fine, I am not helping you with this.”

“I can accept that.”

“And remember one thing,” her eyes finally focused on him, “if it comes to decision between you and me, I am choosing myself. You got yourself into this, I am not dying.”

Jonathan laughed silently. “Miranda, that’s obvious.”

“What!?”

He rested his head on his palm. The expression on her face was joyous. They might have built something, he might have liked her… loved her even… but that was it. He wouldn’t sabotage himself for her. Not again, not after the last fiasco. Jonathan decided he will not go outside his plans. Control was important, he cannot lose that. No holding city hostage again.

“People don’t do that,” he explained slowly. “They do not sacrifice themselves for the others. They might say so, but when faced with the possibility, everyone will always pick themselves. Noble sacrifices are book fantasy, made up so people can feel good about their fake morals.”

That shut her up. She silently watched him, anger slowly disappearing from her face. Then she nodded. “Fine. I am glad we understand each other.”

The situation wasn’t fixed. Miranda still looked around nervously and tucked the bell. It dinged silently. It was funny, Jonathan has read about these charms some time ago. Apparently, silver bells were new age thing that pregnant women wore to be on the same wavelength with their child. Did Miranda know her anti-ghost pendant has different purpose for general population?

“What are you doing for them anyways?” Miranda interrupted his train of thoughts.

“You said you don’t want it.”

“I don’t. I want to know what made you jump after it like a horny teenager at a sex doll.”

“Excuse me?”

“You didn’t even think about the offer. What did he promise, tell me?”

Why the hell did he ever started dating someone whose metaphors always revolved around sex? And her vocabulary consisted of seventy percent of swear words? Charming, Miranda, really.

“Here,” he handed her the envelope.

There! That was it! Miranda’s behaviour may be rude, but when she thinks, her face makes this expression and that’s what he enjoyed. She read through the task, frowning a bit. Finding new things, and realization connected to exploring was Jonathan’s life, he loved to learn and think. That’s what he looked for and Miranda was opened to learning. Maybe not at the moment, but other times, she took his suggestions and she talked with him about things she hardly understood and tried to grasp at them. That’s what he liked about her, she could catch up with him. Now only if her taste in books got better.

“Let me get this straight,” Miranda put down the paper after few minutes. Jonathan was curious what did she figure out. “They want you to mix some chemicals from plants they imported.”

“Correct.”

“I know them. They are used to drug their soldiers to not fear death. Kinda breaks your modus operandi.”

“It’s a job. I will not use it, they will.”

Miranda nodded. “I expect they want Ivy to fasten the speed of growth.”

“That’s what I figured,” agreed Jonathan.

“Who were the people at the Legion? Nygma I know.”

“Waylon Jones, or also known as Killer Croc, and Jervis Tetch. That one is a madman with good hypnotic skills. The last lady I don’t know, but I have my suspicion.”

Miranda bit her lip thinking. Jonathan smiled.

“What is Croc anyways?”

“He was born with rare skin disease. Years of ridicule made him succumb to this nature. More years of Arkham experiments made him… worse. He lives under the city.”

“So, he knows sewers.”

“Yes.”

“And Nygma? What is he good for in his mess?”

“What is flamboyant idiot who can’t keep himself hidden to save his life good for?”

Miranda grinned. “He’s a Bat bait.”

“Most certainly,” agreed Jonathan.

“And hypnotist… drugs, hypnosis… What are they doing?” mumbled Miranda to herself.

“That’s the point…”

“…foot soldiers don’t need to know what generals want,” she finished for him. “Yes, I know this strategy. I lived it. But I still don’t get one thing. The reward. You want these new plants to test on, that’s clear. And then there is this,” she pointed at the paper. “What’s the bottle?”

Jonathan laughed in surprise. “You’ve been in the League and you don’t know?”

“Don’t patronize me and explain,” she snapped.

“Sorry,” he backed off. “It’s bottle of water from the Lazarus pit.”

Miranda’s face turned white in surprise. Eyes wide, mouth open. “What!?”

“The Lazarus pit is…”

“I know! It keeps the Demon’s head alive for centuries. He just hands it out!? And how do Gotham rogues know about this?” she raised her voice. This information made her nervous. Jonathan had the same inner reaction when he read about the reward. The possibilities! But also, the danger. Lazarus pit had shadow of evil hoovering over it. Worse evil, than even most of the rogues accepted. Yet… having something this powerful…

“It’s well known in Gotham that the Lazarus pit exists,” Jonathan explained. “Few years back Joker killed one of Bat’s boy wonders. Nasty stuff, it shook bones of all of us. We all wish them dead, but not like this.” Miranda watched him in silence, listening carefully. It reminded him times when he taught at university. He loved the job. The curious looks of students, questions he could answer. He wished to go back. Unfortunately, there is no going back. They never understood his approach.

“Bat has heard about the Lazarus pit, so you can imagine what he did. He found it and tossed the dead body in. Who can blame him? But it was long after the body died. Way too long. The boy came back… different. Wrong. Him and Bat never made up. The boy almost killed Joker if his saviour didn’t stop him.”

“Bat did that?” Miranda said unsure.

“That’s what they say. Truth will be somewhere in between, only he knows. But the word spread. That’s how people know about the pit.”

Miranda shook her head. “That’s insane. This whole situation is insane.”

“You understand that getting my hands on the water is incredible opportunity. I can’t begin to imagine what could be done with it.”

Miranda smirked. “Yeah. I get it,” she replied annoyed.

Jonathan sighed. He didn’t expect she will calm down, but he hoped. Not everyone can keep his level of stoic. If it was about his past, he would probably freak out too. Thankfully, he got rid of any danger from that long ago. He walked behind Miranda’s chair and put his hands on her shoulders. Stiff.

“I am sure you will not get in danger,” he said massaging her. “You are clever.”

She relaxed a bit. “I will lay low for a while,” she agreed.

“That’s going to be for the best.”

“Are you sure it’s not a trick? That they won’t kill you after they are done with you?”

“You can never be sure in Gotham.”

“I guess.”

He leaned to her and kissed her neck. “Now, are you staying or are you moving to Europe?”

Miranda laughed sincerely. “I don’t know. Convince me?”

Jonathan grinned. “Convince you, hm? Let me think.” He ran his fingers on her neck and through her hair. She purred like a cat when he touched her collar bone. Her clothing became more relaxed after ghosts went. She stopped being afraid to show her skin and the charm. Goodbye to turtleneck, hello to free neckline. He appreciated this small change.

“I think I got it,” he said after kissing her cheek and neck. He slid his hands lower, now massaging her breasts. “You will get dressed up,” he whispered, “and we will go together to the bookstore. My treat.”

“Ah, damn you, Jonathan,” Miranda smiled. “You are a devil. Let’s go!”

“Yes, I am. Don’t worry, I will collect my debts.”

“Whatever you want, professor.”

Gotham 4x18 - Review

This might just be the last episode for a certain character...it is time to see. 

Interim mayor? Haha good luck with that, buddy. I have a feeling you will either die or resign by the time this season ends. 

Who is the commissioner these days?

At least half of the people at this meeting are going to die this episode.

This woman really needs to chill--never mind. Freeze has it covered.

His voice sounds so much like a voice changer. Mr. Freeze could really say some fun deep voiced quotes with that voice. I actually believe it’s required in order to be accepted into the voice changer club.  

I want to know why they chose Mr. Freeze and Mad Hatter for this job. It may not require any specific skills, really. Do they just flip a coin to decide who will go kidnap or murder someone?

Look at this guy. Trying to make deals with anyone who will listen. Kind of reminds me of season 1 Oswald a bit. You know, trying to do whatever it takes to survive. 

You are really asking the Mad Hatter to save you from lunatics? Do you not know him at all? 

“Lunatics is a bit harsh. I prefer visionary” Well, that is typical. Is Jervis Jerome’s number 1 fan now? He is going to be so crushed when the visionary is no more. If it is anything like how he reacted to his sister, there might be more trouble coming. 

“I am with Mr. Valeska one hundred percent” Oswald, I hate to break it to you but...you are a terrible liar. That was unconvincing and you should know this.

Oswald is pretending to smile but deep down he is so ready to be done with all this XD

Hey, I know purple is Oswald’s color but that shade of blue tie? It really does bring out his eyes. 

Geez this toxin is way crazier than I expected it would be in this show. I really want to know why Jerome came up with the idea just now. Also, how did he explain it to Mr. Freeze and Scarecrow as they were helping to create it? Did he just say, “Hey yeah, I want them to go bonkers. Laugh maniacally, go insane, possibly start bleeding and change color from laughing so much so they look like sadistic clowns.”  

I am just waiting for the moment that Oswald leaps out of the truck and just runs as fast as possible. 

You thought Alfred would forget your birthday? I know life has been crazy but he has practically raised you. 

Ooh did you buy him a giant red wagon? 

Awe his baby bat mobile! Awesome! The fact that he didn’t even notice it in the garage until he pressed the button... 

I just realized...he has so much money...how come he hasn’t bought like twenty cars at this point? Although, to be fair, this one is so much cooler and is bullet proof. 

Harvey and his liquor.

I want to know how Oswald knows Jim’s cell phone number. Has he always had it saved in all his phones? Surely it isn’t public knowledge, unless he researched it.

“Well, this is a first” Oh please, like you two have never met in secret before ;)

This reminds of the Pilot, where Oswald was snitching on Fish...yeah, nothing can possibly go wrong here. 

“Why did you come here if you aren’t going to help me?!” Jim, I think you need a vacation, you seem tense. Also, at least he is giving you a heads up on the toxin that may destroy Gotham and turn everyone insane. Think positively :)

Oswald being scared of Jerome? I am honestly not surprised. 

“Or maybe you just don’t like the competition” ...maybe so but does it matter? You got to take whatever help you can get, can’t be choosy on the motives there.

“And I am an honest criminal, Jim” Oswald seems so offended. Like, how dare you excuse him of serving his own interests! 

Why did Oswald sneak off? Didn’t Harvey hear Jim say “Oswald” when he answered his cell phone so he knows who Jim is meeting with? Jim is not discreet.

Jerome breaking out a killer dance entrance. 

It is scenes like these that make me wish Jerome met Ed. You know that they would totally fight over who has the best extra entrances.

People losing heads? That’s a bit graphic for all of Gotham to witness...well, I mean, as of now. I am sure it is going to be even more graphic as years go by.  

Side note: I feel like the pacing of this episode is far better than last week. Less rushed, less story lines that need to develop.

I know the League has major skills so this probably wouldn’t happen but I can just imagine what would happen if someone had terrible aim, accidentally harming or killing Babs. She’d probably still live or be resurrected somehow but I can just picture the shocked responses and the person going “Whoops...I might need more practice...” 

Awe come on, let Tabby have her murderous fun! 

Yeah, Tabs isn’t having any of this league crap. 

Ooh wicked ice device! I want to see more of these cool gadgets that Victor has been saving. 

Wait, I know that tune... 

Oh my god they are doing 60s Batman theme! This is brilliant!

Aww as much as I liked them having separate story lines from each other (just because I was curious to see where their stories would go), I did miss them sharing scenes. Teen batcat is cute.

Where were you Foxy? Vacationing? Taking weeks of spa days? Practicing better defense skills? Hanging with your secret lover? What? 

Yeah, Jerome doesn’t care if he has to blow up any heads. It does not faze him whatsoever. 

I love how much Alfred and Selina care about the well being of Bruce...yet Bruce is going to do it all anyway. 

“I’m positive.” Yeah, I believe in you Foxy! “99% positive” That 1% is going to get you, isn’t it? 

Why didn’t the league show Babs this room sooner?

Wait, the painting has... why do I feel like this is a set up or something? This seems so fishy. 

You know, if Babs was still working her art gallery, this would be the painting on full display. 

Oh gosh...Babs is about to fall deep into this, isn’t she? 

Ooh Jeremiah and Bruce in the same scene! ..And now shaking hands and having a conversation!

This is going to hurt when Jeremiah most likely becomes the Joker. Is Bruce going to blame himself for this too?

Wow, that is a very nice speech Bruce. You make a good motivational speaker.

I bet this guy is regretting being interim mayor. If you make it through this, you may want to take a very long vacation and just forget to ever come back.

So, what did Jerome do while he was waiting this whole time? Dance around? 

Wait, wha-Oh, of course Jerome would foresee this. Always be prepared for anything. Impressive.

Hey, where is Butch/Grundy while all of this is going on? He just joined the group last episode. Why isn’t he involved and by Oswald’s side?

Oswald looking at this like “Maybe I can build one shaped like a penguin later in life...” 

Hmm...why is Jervis using the watch now? He didn’t need the watch before, did he? 

Oz, maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to criticize Jerome’s plans in front of his most loyal followers... Just a thought.

Jealousy? Okay, I know that Babs was pretty mean to Tabby in season 3 but this just seems like her mind is getting twisted or something... She isn’t thinking clearly.

Whose idea was it to leave only two people on there? Did they not think Oswald would get loose and stop it?

Oswald freaking out. Come on, you can think of a plan! Oswald’s thoughts: This is why penguins don’t fly!

Oswald calling Jim for help first because he knows Jim will help. I wonder if he tried calling others but they just didn’t answer. 

“I don’t even drive my own car!” LOL I’m dying. He is so not for this plan. 

Well, he can actually drive, he just probably doesn’t do it very often or likes to.

“If you don’t, thousands will die...maybe worse.” “What’s worse than that?” Pfft. Yeah, death doesn’t matter but not being able to rule? Far worse. Man, he REALLY doesn’t want to steer.

It seems to me that Jerome kind of knew he was going to end up dead all along, didn’t he? 

Oswald’s relief when he starts steering...he’s like “I’m doing it! I’m actually doing it! Oh my god...” 

You just know that Oswald is going to want to have a blimp of his own later in life. Well, I can now check that off the wish list. Now, can we have Oswald in a scene with some live penguins? Thanks. 

Where is Bruce and Jeremiah when all this is going on? Kind of a shame that they aren’t there to probably see Jerome in his final moments. 

Of course Jim would still try to save him but Jerome is like “Nah”. Would he really rather risk his life for all this? 

Laughing to his death. Pretty appropriate. 

This is sad. I’m going to miss Jerome.  

I believe I can flyyy. Okay, sorry. Now is not the time. The slow motion is getting to me.

Now, I am 99.9% sure that he looks dead. At least he died with a smile on his face? ...again...

I know it is all about plot armor but they should really define deaths better on the show. Selina falls out a window and lives. Sofia and Butch get shot in the head, live. Was Jerome’s body just too feeble? Was it because he was shot a few times AND fell off a building onto a car? 

Bruce trying to make things right. Starting somewhat of a friendship...that is doomed to be heartbreak. 

Oh my god he is still up there. How long has Oswald been up there?

Who knew Oswald would be Gotham’s hero? Go figure. 

“Jiiiiiiiiiiiiim” That shot, that scream. I swear it is like the end of a cartoon. 

Poor Oswald. I feel bad but it is also hilarious. 

If this is the end of the episode or if he is still up there at the start of the next episode, I will laugh so hard. 

I just think of the standby pilot like customer service. Standby: Yes, can I help you? Oswald: I am stuck on a blimp, I want off now! Standby: Is it the blimp or is it the zeppelin? People often mistake the two. Oswald: Wha-does it MATTER?! Standby: Please hold *music starts playing* Oswald: *screams in rage and frustration*  

Yeah, as good as Tabby is...it is difficult for her to fight against a few members of the League. 

Aha! Ra’s is about to come back. 

Wait, where are they taking Tabitha?

Jeremiah...uh oh...what’s about to happen? Surely, we aren’t just going to watch him drink tea. 

A gift. Don’t open it. Don’t open it. Don’t open it. 

You are supposed to be smarter than this. You JUST got back from dealing with Jerome. Do. not. open. 

A jack in the box? You know that isn’t from Wayne enterprises. Throw it now! It’ll probably spray you with toxin! 

A special made toxin for him? Oh, so it isn’t exactly the same as the other...that’s good to know. So, that is how it will affect him differently!

Oh god... this is about to be even more insane! 

What a birthday present for Bruce...the birth of the Joker.

I’m interested in seeing how different Jeremiah’s Joker will be to Jerome.

Kind of wish the season had one extra episode, so that we could have seen Jeremiah and Bruce be friends or partners for an episode before being sprayed. Maybe the package comes in the mail the next day, instead of waiting for him, and it doesn’t seem as dumb for him to open it.  

Over all: Solid episode. Jeremiah becoming the Joker is happening a bit fast but not enough for me to be too upset. I have to wait to see how it all plays out before deciding if his joker and evolution is a good one. RIP Jerome, you will be missed. The rest of the episode was nice. It always does well when there are only a couple of major story lines going with all the characters, rather than there being 4 or 5 separate ones. Babs sees a painting of herself and Ra’s from supposedly centuries ago, she believes she has a major purpose but Tabby doubts it, resulting in Tabby being kicked out/beat up by the League. Tabby encounters men who say Ra’s is the true Demon’s Head and isn’t really gone, they take Tabby. Bruce meets Jeremiah, offers him work with Wayne Enterprises. He briefly celebrates his birthday with Selina and Alfred. Lucius gets around 7 lines (not that I counted), where he helps in not getting heads blown to bits. Oswald tries to stop Jerome’s plan, ends up steering the toxin away from the city. Jerome falls to his death, but not before giving Jeremiah his own special toxin to drive him mad. The rest of the Legion of Horribles are in unknown places, I guess.

Gotham s4ep9 “Let Them Eat Pie” Review

“Confess and face the consequences.” Warning spoilers below

 * Okay that´s the first time that I love the “previously on”. We see Harvey asking Jim “What did you have to do to get it.” and then there is a straight cut to Jim sleeping with Sofia. Well. I can get behind that.

 * HARVEY BULLOCK is still salty and I´m still not digging that plot line. Also what is this, Harvey jumping on the CARMINE FALCONE was better train?! True lot of people would be still alive but others would surely be dead honey.

 * Okay so I´m still thinking about the DESIGNATED HERO JIM GORDON thing and they really did not do thaaaaat press thing. First they have them be like okay Jimmy boy if you can´t keep your detectives save how will you manage to do that keeping safe thing with Gotham, will you be like gone soon like Harvey.  But after Jim caught Pyg they have the Press, the fucking press say fucking Thank you to Jim. Also this episode seemed to me like they wanted to slap the best of both worlds onto Jimmy Gordon. Harvey asks him about killing Penguin on the Pier. Jim says he´d again do the same “the right” and “heroic” thing.  “If I could go back, I'd do the same thing.”   “Because you still don't understand how this city works, Jim. You want to be a hero. And Gotham doesn't need heroes. It needs people who will do what is necessary.”  “You're wrong. If you show 'em the way, the people will follow.” (aka do as I say not as I do) So 1. Again it´s Jim doing the heroic thing. Harvey says that, he says he will fail with it but still keeps that Jim is doing heroic stuff thing up. The press accepts them as their saviour but also 2. I got the impression they want to have him be the person doing the necessary thing to. I do think the scene with SOFIA FALCONE talking about promoting him to Captain ties directly back to what Harvey Bullock said. “But you accept it.” “Because I do deserve it. Just like Gotham deserves law and order.”  This is Jim 1. Picking up the hero worship of the press etc. thinking he really is that and deserves to be that and 2. Also picking up what Harvey said to him, with accepting the help of a criminal he´s doing the necessary thing.  He´s doing both. He´s doing a contradiction. And I would say he´s come close to admitting if this would not look like a case of being so sure of oneself to think you are standing above things. Things you should damn care about if you open your mouth that wide. But Harvey might just be right, nothing would work with only one of the two things. (Also it might be quite different case but even PYG is in with looking with sparkly eyes at Jimmy “Jim Gordon really is an impressive policeman.” You must see my final act.”)  Although in general I would have wanted a bit more police work in that whole episode, Jervis Tetch surprisingly was more fun with that kind of stuff. “I grant this food will be somewhat dear, and therefore very proper for landlords, who, as they have already devoured most of the parents, seem to have the best title to the children. "It's Jonathan SwiftA Modest Proposal. Clean this place up.” For Alfred´s side though I only feel half of the compassion I maybe should feel. I do get his pain and how much he cares for Bruce but his parenting has had it´s low points. That has to deal with some blows is not exactly making things even but still. * There is also a lot to say about Bruce rejecting the idea that he is “like” Alfred and that Alfred could help him..

WHO AM I Is the question of the day, especially for Jim Gordon  & Bruce Wayne.  Jim Gordon is at a place where he found his answer, he deserves to be Captain and he even deserves it even with shady methods because he´s just the guy to save the city.  Bruce Wayne says he knows who he is but it´s coming from a much different place. He is still in his “I´m not the hero Gotham needs” mood. Him saying he knows who he is seems to me much more like him saying he knows what he has done. He knows he took a live. He knows it changed nothing for him regarding his issue. But he´s still yet at the start of figuring out how it changed him. Who he is know. In that way his change to partyboy makes sense for me. He feels like he did something that changed everything, yet changed nothing that matters. He feels like this does have to have an impact and he himself and his behaviour is the only thing he has control over. He can´t go back to who he was because that lead him to take a life and it lead him to a point where taking a life did not change anything for the better. He can´t be that person in that moment so he ´s being someone else. So can I say that even in acting immature Bruce might be showing more thought than Jim Gordon? Okay no I better don´t I need to get out of the Jim bashing mood ^^ Meanwhile Oswald Cobblepot has a serious case of Who is Sofia Falcone to solve. * CANNIBALISM Okay my mind just did a rushed circling back. I was absolutely on board with the cannibal pies the whole week while only knowing that spoiler from the story but seeing that he kidnapped homeless people to kill them for it just makes me nope out of it instantly. (Yeah I know it´s not like I didn´t know it were people before .. but you know maybe my mind clinged to the illusion of maybe people who might for one reason or another have deserved it .. or like maybe Pyg just made a trip to the slaughter swamp and got some of the fresher bodies that the hospital discarded.) * Why the fuck though does OSWALD COBBLEPOT look even slightly bothered. If anything he should have been discussing recipes with Pyg. * I´m kind of digging the “Meatpie Tango” though and really it´s rude to interrupt that. Also that is the musical number they made such a fuss about in Promos? Disappointing. * But you, with your Pax Penguina, you are the biggest glutton of them all. On the one hand I´m thinking of Oswald Cobblepot who was outraged what Theo Galavan´s building plans would mean for a lot of Gotham´s citizens. He unarguably cares about the city. But he also does profit of organized crime and we all know organized crime hurts citizens. I mean it´s not a discord if Oswald as much as JIM GORDON really believes his crime license system does help the city.  But well .. I really hope someone wrote good meta on the GLUTTON PENGUIN issue

I need proof.” I´d like to see this as more of S1 Oswald who is on top of his scheming game and collecting all "information but it feels like it´s his emotions getting in the way. “But, sir, what if Ms. Falcone not to say it is her has seen to it that the mayor is missing, well, permanently?” “I could be chasing a ghost while she prepares her next move.” I kind of dig all those possibilities the open up. Favourite Male Character

You mean...besides the obvious answers?? :D

Ngl, it's S2 Jerome. I love that little twink with his parental issues and his tragic backstory and I wanna see him happy. There's a reason I have a bunch of AUs where he ends up having a family (mostly in the form of Lee as his Mother) and gets some actual help instead of being ostracized for being a mentally ill person snapping after years of abuse.

(This also ties into my very strong feelings regarding the fact that nobody actually helps the people at Arkham. And I don't mean the main villains there, I mean all the inmates who get treated like shit and are left behind on the regurlar (remember in S2 when Arkham was about to explode and nobody was talking about evacuating the inmates???? I do).

Other than that, one of my faves is also Jonathan. Which may be a little surprising because I barely talk about him but he was my favourite character throughout the show and he had way too little scenes.

(Kinda telling that the characters I latched onto are both helpless teens who were fucked over by the people who were supposed to protect them and can both trace their villain origin story back to Jim Gordon not caring enough about them lmao).

But the cast is big and varied enough that I actually like everyone? Butch, Zsazs, Penguin, S1 and 2 Ed, Jervis, Harvey, Jim......I like them all!!

Favourite Female Character

Let's just pretend Ecco doesn't exist for this answer ajdkaskaslj.

I fell in love immediately upon seeing Ecco but all! the women! are so!!! good!!!!

I especially have a soft spot for the side characters. I mean, upon first watching I got attached to Alice (even though she only features in two episodes lmao), and also Kristen Kringle - who isn't talked about much within Fandom, but she was pretty and her and Ed were actually quite cute but then she had to die for him to become the Riddler which was...pretty much telling us from the beginnning 'The woman here die to advance the men's plots'.

Barbara was also a big surprise to me because I figured she'd be the female love interest and nothing more but!! her and Jerome were the best thing in S2 and also the most entertaining thing about the Maniax Plot. (In several ways, I think I had the most fun watching this show during S2 , it was just. Good).

Also upon being in this Fandom and thinking about certain characters a bit longer I also really like Vicky Vale. And Montoya. And I wish they had kept both around for longer.

(I also wish they wouldn't have made Vicky a love interest for Jim. Or Sofia. No love interests for Jim except Lee and Barbara please).

Also Selina!! I love both Selina and Tabitha with all my heart - which may also be surprising because I barely ever talk about Tabby but I contain multitudes aklskddsm, and while I like sharing my horny thoughts about Ecco, I also love to think about Tabby and daydream about her being happy and exploring her (and Selina's) issues with showing weakness and affection and their strong loyalty regarding people that they trust.

I just.....women. Women good.

(Women also deserve to have more character than just being somebody's love interests and I have enough wips that completely sideline the guys to focus on the woman instead lmao).

Least Favourite Character

I don't have many characters that I hate??

I generally tend to instantly love everybody unless they are specifically made to be unlikeable. (I also spite-like characters who are hated for petty reasons, I just have a lot of love in my heart and not much energy for hate lmao).

But there were characters who annoyed me while I was watching.

For one, I think Gotham has a variety of super entertaining villains, but the main villains of each season tend to be....boring.

Safe for Strange they all kinda fell flat for me. Theo. Kathryn. Ra's Al Ghul. His Daughter. Mostly because their plotlines were less exciting than stuff like Jerome's carnival or Mother and Orphan's Hotel of Horrors.

Or their motives seemed a lot less understandable than the ones of the other Batman villains who pretty much always come from a place of suffering and abuse and break/snap under the pressure that's put on them (continuing this take of Gotham creating its own villains by leaving behind - mentally ill - people that need help, which I think is very true to most - if not all - Batman villains).

And then you have some characters that simply suffer from the fact that the show was cut short - which is pretty much any and every S5 character that had way too little screentime, but in this specific case means Jeremiah.

Because I disliked Jeremiah a lot while watching.

Without wanting to step on anybody's toes, him and Nygma are probably the two characters on this show I ended up disliking the most.

Mostly because Miah felt like a very cheap copy of Jerome and to this day I think it was a bad idea to replace Jerome with him, since Jeremiah - to me - seems like a super flat character.

Maybe if we had gotten him without meeting Jerome first, just having a Joker character introduced in S4, maybe I would've adored him, who knows.

But in comparison to Jerome...no. Just no.

(I will spare you from any longer rambles, but I think if you follow me, I talked about the ways Miah is lacking for me before).

My made up version of Miah though? I love him.

With Nygma it's even worse because I adored him. I instantly liked him. I was 100% behind him right up until the godawful Isabella plot happened and then it just all went to shit so quickly, I couldn't stand seeing him on screen anymore.

It's surprising that I didn't stop liking Oswald but to me, Oswald pretty much stayed the same while Ed became all bitter and hard and I just miss dorky S2 Ed you know?

It actually got so bad, I completely turned my back on Nygm/obblepot as a ship because I was so severly disappointed and I barely talk about Ed because I just can't stand what they did with him.

Favourite Ship

I'm just gonna stick to canon ships because I don't ever shut up about my Fanon ships so you probably know which ones I love the most :D

There isn't much romance going on within Gotham if I think about it - apart from Jim - which I definitely prefer. You wouldnt guess it from my blog, but I am not a fan of too shippy stuff because in most cases it just means sex scenes and I can live without those. I want action! Blood! Dead People! Not a two minute make-out session between two bland characters!

I gotta admit that Ed and Lee have some cute scenes and I would definitely ship them if I didn't dislike S4 Ed so much (S2 EdLee tho?? Yes).

Also I thought Jim and Lee was okay and Baby Batcat was quite cute at times but mostly I don't care about the canon ships.

I do ship Barbara and Jim though :D

I remember right before they hooked up in S5 I was like: 'I wouldn't mind if they got back together' and then went 'yay!' when they did and I wouldn't have minded a little more 'Will they?? Won't they??' between those two and them just having the mother of unhealthy relationships on this show.

(Also Jim/Barbara/Lee poly relationship but we can't have everything).

Favourite Friendship

So many good relationships on this show!

I need to rewatch the show soon because I probably already forgot about most of them but from the top of my head: Oswald/Butch and Oswald/Zsazs

Which were both then done dirty lmao. One by having Oswald be overly petty (one of the few times I was like...Pengy...wtf...) and the other by passing up the obvious opportunity to have Zsazs find out who really killed Falcone and just...letting Oswald and Victor never interact again. 

Then of course Ivy and Selina which also gloriously fell apart. Just like Ivy and Oswald. 

(Gotham isn’t the best when it comes to maintaining friendships). 

And the biggest and most grandious friendship of them all: J Squad. 

(Who have too little scenes together honestly and then also simply fell apart after Jerome died. Consistency who?)

Favourite Quote

I don’t know, I don’t have many quotes in my head from the show. Me and my niece mostly reference: “Yeah, that’s a spoon.” - “IT IS ALSO A FORK!!1!!!”

Also: “Gotta Go! Gotta Go! They’re after me and the Scarecrow!”

(There are some dialogue blurps I have written down somewhere because they are inspriration for gifsets but in order to be able to just recite some of them from Memory, I would have to watch this show way more obsessively). 

Worst Character Death

I don’t even gotta say anything do I? :D

But I think the character death that actually made me cry was Jerome’s first death. I clearly remember crying because...he just wanted recognition! And praise! And instead he was used as a pawn and betrayed by someone he idolized and he was only 18! My poor little meow-meow!

Seriously, the only things that make me cry on this show: Jerome’s first death, any and all mention of Bruce as a baby - told by an emotional Alfred, any and all Bruce/Alfred interaction at all and Solomon Grundy.

I seriously need to rewatch this show, it’s been so long :D

But I remember being pretty excited for the J Squad Team Up - because I was like ‘If I were Jerome I would definitely work with Tetch and Scarecrow since they’re also in Arkham atm’ and then he did!!

And I also distinctly remember in S3 that I was close to falling asleep right when they scene came on where Oswald realizes his feelings for Nygma and let me tell you - it caught me so off guard, I was awake instantly lmao. 

(I knew that people shipped them but I was so used to mlm ships being popular when they only have a handful of scenes and are platonic friends that I didn’t expect them to actually have a possibility of being canon). 

From then on I was super pumped for them to deliver on that ship but well....we all knew what happened asnksnndk. 

Saddest Moment

Aside from the already mentioned scenes in the character death column, the scene where Bruce leaves and Selina runs to the airport. I always liked Selina but she wasn’t a priority character of mine (much like Bruce isn’t) but then that scene happened and in an instant, I felt super protective over her. 

She is now my baby. My daughter. My beloved wife. She deserves everything and most importantly she deserves better than Bruce Wayne. 

(Coincidentally that was also the scene where I decided I don’t care much about Bruce asldjkjlj. I absolutely adore early seasons Bruce though). 

Favourite Location

There are so many different locations, I don’t think I can adequately answer this with my spotty memory :D

But I always loved the few episodes where Alice features, because I love how her scenes are shot so probably the little carnival Jervis prepares for her.
