I don't know what the book Julia did with Julia, I haven't read it yet, but she should really get to have a homoerotic toxic yuri relationship with a woman who works on her in the Ministry of Love like Winston and O'Brien's. It can't be as close of a parallel as I'd like it to be because from what I remember Julia seems to have some internalized misogyny going on (even though she's lived her whole life in a society where iirc women and men are at least on the surface oppressed equally? what's going on. why does she have this) so she can't subtly admire her and feel a connection to her before their time in the Ministry together, unless she sees her as being not like other girls I guess, or unless the Julia is a Spy interpretation is correct and she just said misogynistic stuff to Winston because it was what he wanted to hear. Anyway Julia/Katharine ftw
#actually could someone tell me who works on her in the ministry of love in her novel thanks#I'm mad that the novel doesn't follow the Julia is a Spy interpretation which is why I haven't read it yet#also why is Winston a misogynist when he's spent most of his life in this society too. what narrative purpose does this serve#I love Julia basically because I've reclaimed her lmao I know damn well she was written in a misogynistic way#she's mine now Orwell fuck you#like it's fine for characters to be misogynistic if it serves a narrative purpose but what narrative purpose is being served here?#1984#orwell 1984#julia dixon#julia 1984#katharine 1984#winston smith#winston 1984#o'brien 1984#george orwell
