gotham got so used to superheros being "other" cities problems that theyre all collectivly like *suprised pika* for a while at the Signal like dr doof meme "A superhero?" slaps a bat on there "A GOTHAM superhero??" and part of the problem for gotham is that duke is just so damn charismatic and good at interacting with the public/rallying people (hes a born leader what can i say) that its about an hour into his debut before everyone thinks to themselves yeah alright hes ours now.
i think in this au We Are Robin still happened but now its like a game of we are signal within the batclan, there's some mixed feelings about everything getting attributed to The Signal for sure, Dick's already drafting up his daytime-sona Discowing 2, Red Hood has never been underground lmao just.... largely considered a rogue and he kinda never changed anyone's mind about it (i have a draft of an interview with the red hood in this au heheheh), the batman? batgirl? batwoman? lmao do you also believe in mothman? robin was a bunch of kids playing crime fighter lmao
anyway i think bruce makes duke wait till he's 18 to join the justice league, making Signal officially Gotham's Favorite Son right up there with other gotham specific celebrities that Wayne Industries guy
bruce 100% buys signal merch lets be real, he's so fucking proud, the rest of the kids (read dick and jason) are trying to make their own bootleg merch to give to bruce for variety but i think it would be super funny if bruce wayne's signal mug becomes like a perminate fixture of his instagram or smth
au where the bats manage to stay urban legends, sure other heroes know of them, but they help largely from the shadows, they aren't put on display and they're hardly known at All outside of the strange circle of gotham's goons
that changes when duke thomas stares batman down and says on no uncertain terms that he's working day shift
the signal is Gotham's first confirmed superhero, and he wears a bat on his chest
social media goes Wild fighting over whether the Batman existed all along or if someone finally got the tech and powers to make the bat (or a bat) Real
suddenly the world of superheros feels a lot more real to the citizens of Gotham who got used to horrible disasters being either ignored or neatly cleaned away from the public eye, now there's a guy getting thrown through windows and helping grannies cross the street and the war between gotham and metropolis gets even more cut throat
#thank u for ur tags i have Even More Ideas now lmao#i love this little au so seeing people have silly ideas makes me love it even More#also side note but i muted notifs for a while and i came back and its at 2k#hello everyone im scared#dick trying to go daytime after duke does is 100% true for me#bruce is trying to dissuade him but dick is dick is dick so.... it will not last#nightwing will be taking the world by storm bruce u can't stop it#jason will 100% be blackmailing and threatening his way onto an insider shoot or smth so he can gush on camera about how well the signal#(who he definitely does not know because he is Definitely a criminal and the Signal is a Hero)#throws a punch or something#“look at that Footwork!!! art! poetry in motion!”#also when the first articles come out about the signal's debut and public reception and all that duke throws a copy onto the dining table#like “i told you so” and bruce not beating the duke is my favorite allegations like yeah you told me so#i have some half baked thoughts about cass in this au as well but i need them to marinate a little bit#batfam#bread talk#thank you again!

Five Reasons Why Lil Wayne Had Such a Big First Week For 'Tha Carter V'
The official numbers are in for Lil Wayne's Tha Carter V in its first week of availability, and it's a triumph. The album earned 480,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Oct. 4, according to Nielsen Music, to launch at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, while debuting a record-tying 22 entries on the Billboard Hot 100.
The staggering numbers make complete one of the year's most successful comebacks, following a long period that the rapper born Dwayne Carter essentially spent in the recording wilderness. Feuding with former label head and mentor Bryan "Birdman" Williams held up the recording and release of Carter V for nearly a half decade, until Wayne finally made a clean split from Cash Money Records earlier this year.
In the meantime, the rapper released several mixtapes and the 2015 Tidal exclusive Free Weezy Album, but received only faint attention for the projects. It was part of a commercial (and arguably artistic) decline that had encompassed most of Weezy's 2010s, including his most recent official wide release, 2013's I Am Not a Human Being II, which sold respectably (217k first week) but underperformed compared to the MC's prior releases, and drew reviews that were middling at best.
So why was Tha Carter V such a resounding win? Here's five things the No. 1 album in the country had going for it.
1. Quick rollout. It was just four months ago that news broke that Wayne had settled his lawsuit with Cash Money, and not even a month ago that Wayne revealed (via his Billboard cover story) that Tha Carter V was now officially on its way. Its firm release date wasn't announced until the Wednesday before, when Weezy released a charming teaser video that divulged the album would be coming out on his birthday (Sept. 28). No songs were released ahead of time, and even the tracklist and cover remained largely a mystery in the hours leading up to its midnight drop.
And as we've seen time and again in recent years, the less press an album has in the months leading up to its release -- particularly in the hip-hop world -- the more furor it tends to generate when it unexpectedly arrives. Eminem learned this lesson recently, when last year's over-hyped and somewhat undercooked Revival received an underwhelming response after a months-long rollout, and then this year's vengeful Kamikaze posted much stronger numbers as a sneak release no one saw coming. After a half-decade of waiting for an album, it's tough to still make it seem like a pleasant surprise, but with Tha Carter V, Wayne somehow pulled it off.
2. Good timing. Released over a weekend (Sept. 28-30) that also had two other major hip-hop releases on the schedule, Logic's Young Sinatra IV and Kanye West's Yandhi, created a wave of excitement for rap fans that helped raise the public profile of (and excitement for) all three sets. Having both Wayne and Kanye in the mix allowed fans in their 20s to wax nostalgic about '00s release days spent lining up at stores on release day to buy physical CDs, while even older fans could flashback almost exactly 20 years to Sept. 29, 1998 -- often deemed the greatest release day in hip-hop history, due to simultaneous releases from OutKast, JAY-Z, A Tribe Called Quest and many others.
Of course in 2018, one of those much-anticipated albums ended up not dropping at all: Yandhiwas first delayed until Saturday night, and then pushed back all the way to late November. Meanwhile, Kanye spent that Saturday night performing on SNL, controversially wearing a MAGA hat and making unaired (but later heavily circulated) comments about being "bullied" backstage for his pro-Trump wardrobe. This may have just served to further drive listeners to Tha Carter V, however -- at a time when supporting Kanye feels more fraught than ever for many fans, listening to new material from his only real challenger for late-'00s hip-hop supremacy was by contrast a refreshingly nostalgic and generally satisfying experience.
3. Strong branding. While Wayne has more noteworthy running album series than nearly any other figure in rap history -- including Dedication, Sorry 4 the Wait, I Am Not a Human Being and several other brand-name LPs and mixtapes with one or multiple sequels to their credit -- there's still something hallowed about his Tha Carter series. The first one launched him into the mainstream as a solo star, the second one solidified his cult and remains a Weezy fan favorite to this day, and the third one served as his commercial peak by selling over a million copies first week and winning a best rap album Grammy. Even Tha Carter IV, which received mixed reviews and a lesser fan reception than III, still sold nearly a million copies (964k) first week, and long stood as easily Wayne's most successful project of the last decade.
So while Wayne had released some more marginal works since The Carter IV's 2011 drop, titling his most recent album Tha Carter V essentially let listeners know that he meant business this time. As with JAY-Z and his three-album Blueprint series, or Eminem with his Marshall Mathers LPs 1 & 2, it's a title that even casual music fans can understand the significance of, signaling to audiences that after a period of perhaps not giving his best effort on recent projects, Wayne was once again ready to give fans -- as he says in the set's trailer video - "all of me... more than me."
4. Embracing streaming. In truth, Tha Carter V only sold a small fraction of the copies moved by the last two entries in the series: just 141k in first-week sales, less than even I Am Not a Human Being 2 in its opening frame. But that doesn't really count as a loss for Wayne, because the album was so enormous on streaming services: The 433 million on-demand streams the album drew in its first week of availability ranked as the second-highest total in history, behind only protégé Drake's recent blockbuster Scorpion (745.9 million).
It's not a surprise the album was so well-streamed, because despite the rapper being a holdover from the days of physical CDs and iTunes downloads, Wayne fitted Tha Carter V to translate to the streaming era. It's 23 tracks long -- longest of any of the Carter sets so far -- which inevitably attracts more plays total across its many tracks. And the album also features high-profile appearances from more contemporary Spotify stars like Kendrick Lamar, the late XXXTentacion and Travis Scott-- all of whom appear on the album's first half, and whose presence have helped the tracks they appear on ("Mona Lisa," "Don't Cry" and "Let It Fly," respectively) become the album's three most-streamed tracks, in fact ending the tracking week as the top three songs on Billboard's Streaming Songs chart.
Taking it even further, Wayne also participated in an even-more-modern promotional tactic shortly following the release of Tha Carter V: He posted a Twitter video of his kids dancing to the set's "Uproar," helping spread the word of the #UproarChallenge -- a similar movement to the one that helped Drake's "In My Feelings" go supernova on the Billboard Hot 100 shortly after the release of Scorpion. Whether "Uproar" will explode in similar fashion remains to be seen, but the track does debut at No. 7 on the Hot 100 this week -- and No. 4 on the Streaming Songs chart -- demonstrating how Wayne's embrace of the viral allows him to continue posting superstar numbers in 2018, even with songs that sound like (and prominently feature both samples and artists from) the turn of the century.
5. It's Weezy F. Baby. All the talk of timing, branding, and streaming-friendless with Wayne shouldn't bury the primary takeaway from Tha Carter V's big week here: Lil Wayne is enjoying his comeback moment primarily because he made his strongest album in ages. It's Wayne revitalized, darker and more personal than ever, but still sounding joyful just because he sounds fully invested and involved in his music again. The people agree: check review aggregation website Metacritic and Tha Carter V has Wayne's highest rating -- both in critics' Metascore and even by average user grade -- since Tha Carter III a decade earlier.
It was clear from the Internet response to the news of his imminent return after so long adrift that people were ready to root for Lil Wayne again. But if he hadn't made an album that reminded people of why he was once widely considered (by himself above all) as the best rapper alive -- if he hadn't made an album that was worthy of the brand name its title reflected -- that good will would have evaporated pretty quickly. Tha Carter V was that album, and now Weezy has reassumed his place among hip-hop's ruling class.

The Chase Files Daily Newscap 1/21/2019
Good MORNING #realdreamchasers! Here is The Chase Files Daily News Cap for Monday 21st January 2019. Remember you can read full articles for FREE via Barbados Today (BT) or Barbados Government Information Services (BGIS) OR by purchasing by purchasing a Daily Nation Newspaper (DN).
EMULATE BARROW – As Barbadians mark Errol Barrow Day today, they are being called upon to remember what the National Hero stood for, and to stamp that across the length and breadth of the island. The challenge was thrown out by Verla DePeiza, president of the Democratic Labour Party that Barrow founded, during a service at the St David’s Anglican Church yesterday to commemorate the life and work of Barrow. “What Errol Barrow means to the Democratic Labour Party, I don’t think any book can ever capture. What he means to this country will live on for generations to come. But what it should mean for each one of us is a motivation to dig deep within ourselves, and find a way that we too, can have a lasting impact on our society,” she told the congregation. She added the country was at a crossroad and asked the citizens to join with the party, which suffered a humiliating 30-0 defeat in last May’s General Election, as it worked to steer the nation back on the right path. (DN)
PSV BOSSES LET’S TALK – If a national consultation on transportation is ever called, the owners of public service vehicles (PSVs) say one of the items they want high on the agenda is the conversion to electric vehicles and its potential to transform the industry. Both Morris Lee and Roy Raphael welcomed the recent call from the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados (CTUSAB) for a national consultation and review of the sector. In a media release last week, CTUSAB general secretary Dennis De Peiza said transportation was too important a plank in the social and economic well-being of a country and an efficient service was a necessity. He warned that over time, issues which emerged had called into question the management, regulation, coordination, policing and efficiency of the system, and if ignored, could create a “national crisis”. Chairman of the Alliance Owners of Public Transport (AOPT), Roy Raphael, said they had also called for a consultation because they wanted their voice to be heard and were too important to be left out. (DN)
A 'VERY GOOD' YEAR FOR TOURISM, SAYS SYMMONDS – Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Kerrie Symmonds says the tourism industry’s end of year results for 2018 were “very good”. But he warns that gun violence can possibly put a damper on the sector. Symmonds, who was speaking with members of the media on the sidelines of a reception for repeat visitors held at the Gun Hill Signal Station, revealed that the shooting in St Lawrence Gap last year could have left a bad impression on the visitors who witnessed it. “Tourism is our business. Running about the street with a gun and shooting one another over foolishness is unacceptable! We have to spend long hours working on something that we shouldn’t spend long hours working on because we have to try to contain the fallout of every instance when that happens,” said Symmonds. He pointed out that the marketing point of the island’s tourism sector of cleanliness, friendliness and safety was in a bind. He stressed that the threat to the island’s safety needed to be wrestled to the ground. “We will destroy the Barbados economy if it is that we have people shooting one another because somebody get horn or because somebody’s girlfriend chose to be with another man. We have to come to an understanding that every time this happens we are losing a massive amount of not only money but our reputation is taking a massive hit out there.” Symmonds also revealed that the recently established Cruise Development Commission will soon be providing a final audit of the ports of entry and overall visitor experience. “ I think we have to sit with the people in the craft sector as a whole . . . I have told the BTMI (Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc) that we have to have an opportunity to bring all the craft vendors in Bridgetown onto Trevor’s Way on a Friday night. Bring with them the music and the food and we have an opportunity for visitors to experience Bridgetown by night.” He argued that competitors across the region were creating opportunities for visitors to experience culture and the arts and Barbados could not afford to be satisfied with its current product while the industry was constantly transforming. (BT)
OPPOSITION TEAM COVERING ALL BASES – Opposition Leader Bishop Joseph Atherley presented his official Opposition Spokespersons Team earlier today. He stressed that it was not the launch of a political party, but said that would come in due course. This new team includes several familiar faces who ran in the 2018 General Election under the Solutions Barbados and United Progressive Party (UPP) banners. Thirteen members were announced today with three more to be announced at a later date. The following is the list of team members and the portfolios that they will speak on. Irwin Belgrave – Home Affairs related matters; Rev. John Carter – Agriculture, food security and maritime economy; Dr Philip Corbin – Energy, water resources, telecommunications; Akil Daley – Youth and small business facilitation; Senator Crystal Drakes – Economic, sustainable development and climate change; Paul Forte – Housing, property ownership works and maintenance; Senator Caswell Franklyn – Labour, social security, corporatives and civil establishments; Paul Gibson – Health, wellness services development and environment; Sylvan Greenidge – Transportation, sanitation and sewage service; Bruce Hennis – Internal business and trade, manufacturing and commerce; Maria Philips – Justice, law enforcement, penal system; Alan Springer – Creative economy and sports industry development; Scott Weatherhead – Tourism, regional and international transport. (DN)
EDGEHILL FOLK SHAKEN – The latest accident along Edgehill, St Thomas, has left some residents counting their lucky stars and one with a sleepless night. Shortly after 2 a.m on Sunday, people living in an apartment complex near the bend of the steep slope were rudely awakened when a minibus crashed into the building. It is understood three of the six passengers reported injuries and were taken by ambulance to hospital. The minibus was reportedly coming from a bus crawl when the brakes apparently failed. Up to press time police reports were not forthcoming, but some eyewitnesses said the minibus flipped at least once after striking a utility pole, before coming to rest outside the bedroom of a tenant, who recounted her experience. “I was sleeping and then I heard a funny noise, then a crash and the building shook. That got me right up out my bed. I made sure everybody was good and then I called the police,” she said. (DN)
JONES SMASHES FORDE’S 400M INDOOR RECORD – Jonathan Jones has taken his record-breaking track feats to the United States. Jones’ fast start to his collegiate career continued on Friday when he shattered the Barbados national 400 metres indoor record on the first day of the Clemson Invitational. The University of Texas freshman, who was named BIG 12 Conference Male Athlete Of The Week for his dazzling debut triumph at the Ted Nelson Invitational last week, won the 400 metres in an impressive 46.21 seconds from teammate Micaiah Harris (46.84). The time, which is third on the IAAF list this year, also surpassed the official national record of 46.34 previously set by Elvis Forde in 1987. However, another outstanding quarter-miler, Seibert Straughn, still has the fastest time ever recorded by a Barbadian. Straughn clocked 46.14 seconds at an oversized track in March 1991 while competing at a meet in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, in the United States. Jones now has the second fastest time on the US collegiate circuit this season behind Guyanese Arinze Chance, who replaced him at the top of the NCAA rankings with his 46.15 clocking at the inaugural Gamecock meet. (DN)
FOGGING SCHEDULE 22ND - 25TH JANUARY - The Vector Control Unit of the Ministry of Health resumes its fogging programme next week in Christ Church between 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. each day. On Tuesday, January 22, the team will fog Rendezvous Hill, Rendezvous Ridge, Rendezvous Gardens, Amity Lodge with Avenues and environs. On Wednesday, January 23, they will be spraying Lower Amity Lodge, Rendezvous Hill, Brewster Road, Worthing with Avenues, Bamboo Road, Harmony Hall, Top Rock and surrounding areas. On Thursday, January 24, areas targeted will be St Lawrence Gap, Paradise Village, Highway 7, Worthing Main Road and neighbouring districts. The fogging exercise concludes on Friday, January 25, in Dover Gardens, Headley Road, Dover Terrace, Dover with Avenues and environs.
Householders are asked to cooperate with the officers of the Vector Control Unit by opening their doors and windows to allow the spray to enter. (BGIS)
SKYWATCHERS AWAIT 'SUPER BLOOD WOLF MOON' – Skywatchers are gearing up for a lunar eclipse, which some are referring to as a “super blood wolf moon”. During the spectacular event, the Earth’s natural satellite turns a striking shade of red. The entire eclipse will be visible from North and South America, as well as parts of western Europe (including the UK) and north Africa. (BT)

TODAY, October 23, 2017 marks the 64th anniversary of Philippine television and here on Timow’s Turf, we opened the second Open Pit on a matter related to the very significance of the number.
The number 64 is a perfect square number – in this case, a square of 8 (a number that is very auspicious in East Asia). In games, it’s the total number of squares of a board in chess and checkers. Baby Boomers have The Beatles’ “When I’m Sixty-Four” and the Batang 90s have a Nintendo 64. In personal computers, some of them run on a 64-bit architecture.
On this article, we will discuss about our program’s living legends and legacies.
Legends and legacies distinguished
Living legends, as the name implies, leaves a safe harbor — a permanent etching – where ratings would not matter since the loyal following of their program is mature and stable.
Magandang Gabi Bayan may have been gone for 12 years but its association to Halloween made it a treasure.
On the other hand, a broadcast legacy is something that no longer broadcasts but it’s a cornerstone that shapes both the country and the network and inspires future generations. One example is Magandang Gabi Bayan, which we always remember for the haunted stories in this fitting season of Halloween/Undas. Another is the original standalone version of Tawag ng Tanghalan during the television’s pioneer age, which, of course, becomes the current segment of now legendary It’s Showtime.
Nonetheless, both categories made an intergenerational impact of the country’s pop culture.
In this writing, we will define the living legends and legacies as a program that – currently or not — runs at least 8 years.
Current state of living legendary programs
As of this month, four currently airing legendary programs have given recognition from the Turf.
It’s Showtime gang member Teddy Corpuz re-weds his real wife Tuesday as part of the traditional Magpasikat week.
Tukaan, the oldest sabong show, is now under the hands of TV5.
This year, It’s Showtime turns 8 – enough to confer them the permanent fixture — and thus, seasonal segment Magpasikat from the gang is showcased. It’s Showtime used to be a late morning competition show in 2009 before becoming a noontime variety show in 2012.
Tukaan, the currently longest running cockfighting show was moved to TV5 since October 1 from IBC 13 after 19 years following the original network’s low power signal reception since March and impending privatization.
Damayan, the famous public service program on PTV 4 revived after seven (7) year hiatus as “Damayan Ngayon” since October 6.
Another program in Vasra, PTV Sports restored its standalone program after nine and a half months of being a segment of PTV News since last week; however, their running time is halved to 30 minutes. Debuted in 2006 as Teledyaryo Sports and founded by Snow Badua, the sports program was able to reach out questions and opinions from sports fans through e-mail, text and social media.
Living cornerstone programs currently carried (per network)
NOTE: Sports coverages are excluded.

The World Tonight has reached at least 8 years in the main channel’s history. Being currently on ANC, it is excluded from this list.
Pinoy Big Brother is excluded from this list, as it does not currently air a new season. PBB has aired 13 assorted seasons since 2005 and it helped shaped the psyche of Filipino pop culture.
GMA comes in second with 16 programs:

Eat Bulaga. Longest running noontime show whose majority of its life resides there.
Bubble Gang. Longest sketch comedy program.

IBC 13, despite the moribund lineup, places on the sixth spot:
El Shaddai. The longest religious programming of the network since 1992.

Ang Pinaka
SMNI 39 shares the triple tie as the following programs were broadcast under ACQ-KBN:
Powerline
Sounds of Worship
Give Us This Day
TV5 does not have a program that currently broadcast for eight years but Tukaan, bequeathed by IBC 13 after 19 years on the air, transferred to this network since October. It’s nearest in-house program, Aksyon (prime), should need to air at least next year to qualify.
Significant and impacted legacies
ABS-CBN made the lead with various legacies such as the sitcoms Home along Da Riles and Oki Doki Doc. Aside from MGB earlier, Hoy Gising! was also a well-remembered program under the news and public affairs department. Batang 90s would remember the said decade to be their golden age of educational TV with Hiraya Manawari, Math-Tinik and Sineskwela. Of course, The Buzz was the place for celebrity scoop until the Internet supersedes as its dominant source.
GMA’s legacies include Emergency — whose spiritual successor is Alisto — Cheche Lazaro’s The Probe Team and its kid-friendly counterpart 5 And Up for investigative programming and of course, the no holds barred open debate show, Debate with Mare at Pare. Startalk, like The Buzz, made into the impacted legacies as well as with the similar fate.
On the third place was RPN 9, well-known programs that once aired include NewsWatch, John En Marsha, Battle of the Brains, Business Class and Isumbong Mo Kay Tulfo.
ABC 5’s significant legacies include The Big News, Wow Mali and Cooking with Sandy Daza.
PTV had Concert at the Park and Paco Park Presents since their pioneer years until it was axed in 2012.
IBC 13 only had Iskul Bukol as an intergenerational legacy of the now has-been network.
Other legacies that aired on multiple channels include Student Canteen, Okey Ka Fairy Ko (which led to a more lasting Enteng Kabisote film series), Batibot, Family Kuarta o Kahon and recently, Ating Alamin.
Parting words
Axing a living landmark – like the programs you watched — into a legacy is just like losing your friend and with a missing piece in their hearts. No matter how one wishes to move on, nostalgia would easily get in your way and yearn. Whatever happens to today will affect the curiosity of our posterity.
How about you? How do you define a legend or a legacy?
