Huh, I wonder how much this varies by length and hair type. The first few years I did Jedi cosplay I wore a padawan braid (just braided my existing mid-shoulder length hair, I didn't grow it further or anything) and I didn't have an issue with braiding or unbraiding it EXCEPT for the time I jumped in a pool after an event before taking it out. Unbraiding it wet was difficult. My hair is very thin/fine. Now I'm curious what the range of experience is with different hair types. More folks who've done this, sound off?
If you ever write into your Star Wars Fanfiction that a character undid their padawan braid and redid it in a timely matter of under 30 minutes, Im coming to find you. It took me three breakdowns and two episodes of the marvellous mrs maisel do brush my braid out and redo it. So much hair came out. It was terrible.
#OP I agree Star Wars cosplay totally changes the way I read fanfic (or actual SW books)#like#“Cody sat down” I assure you he did NOT without removing significant amounts of his armor lmao#Also a lot of fic writers don't understand how the standard Jedi dress comes on and off#the order is#undertunic > outer tunic > tabards > obi (cloth belt) > leather belt > saber#also what the Jedi wear is by FAR the most comfortable clothing in the GFFA#nice sturdy boots and soft linen pajamas#it doesn't get any better than that#I used to have a cosplay tag and I don't remember what it was...
