re: books assigned to me in high school. quincas borba is great (as is any machado de assis book) and we even got to see a production of it which was great bc the book translates really well to stage. o cortiço was one of my favourite ones. sooo much to talk about that book and i actually got to share a very long conversation with a uni prof about it

my hs literature teacher was the greatest. her classes were everything and they were so fun. and (not pt/br lit BUT) she did let me ramble about pride and prejudice for 45 minutes once ❤️ if i want to be a teacher today it’s 100% because of her(and my history teacher). idk their classes were so good so many of them are ingrained in my brain forever
