there is a video of me (private, but on my YouTube channel still) circa late 2015, about 7 years old or so, doing an unboxing video of a toy I had gotten for Christmas. at several points in the little 1 minute video and say stuff like "I'm just making sure you can focus on it" or "if you can focus on it" (of which my mom didn't do) and doing gestures that I had seen in YouTube videos. and it's like. you sweet little autistic child holy fuck. I might make the video unlisted and share it here because it is just so strange to hear me saying that. keep in mind I had had access to YouTube, unfiltered, for about two or so years by then and three years including the year I had child filter on. Which btw idk if anyone remembers but the child filter on YouTube in 2015 wasn't good at all anyways 😭

There's never really...been a plan for pets; they've sort of just happened? Aside from the chickens that Bob gets after he leaves the Navy (three Buff Orpingtons and two silkies. I elaborate more on this in Rhett's A Borderline Disney Princess), nobody has actually sat down and said, "Hey, I want to get this particular animal for this reason." Instead, the animals sort of...find them instead.

The first Winter in the new house, two days before Christmas, Rhett inexplicably didn't come home when he was supposed to. The Reader and Bob had called and texted him, but the most they'd gotten was a rushed promise of "I'll be home soon." He's usually home come dinner time, but by the time Bob and Reader had ate, showered and watched a pre-bedtime movie, their cowboy was nowhere to be seen.

So when a shivering Rhett and his buddy Archie came bursting through the door, snow clinging to their hair and the bottom of Archie's beard, the Readrer and Bob didn't know what to think. And Rhett was so focused on what resided in the box to see the way Bob's face lit up when a choir of tiny, tiny meows echoed through the kitchen.

Kittens. Dumped out on the ranch, Rhett and Archie have been working. Feral, spicy little things. Big enough to climb a tree and evade two cowboys but not old enough to survive without their momma. There are five of them: two white, a one-eyed calico, one solid black, and an orange. And every single one of them is rightfully pissed off, puffed up, and spitting at anyone who dares reach for them. Rhett's hands are torn to hell. Archie nearly lost an eye.

The Reader knows right away that they're going to wind up with at least one. Because Bob keeps peeking into the box and giggling when a flurry of hissing erupts, muttering under his breath about how he just wants to play with them. It does take him some time to coax them out, but by morning, he's befriended one of the white kittens. She may be small, but she's on his heels like a trained killer. Climbing up his sweats, squealing at the top of her lungs, and biting at his fingers.

She's a keeper.

The second kitten is chosen when Rhett takes a nap on the couch and wakes to find that the calico has cuddled up on his chest. Only to puff up and scratch his jaw when he tries to touch her, but she refuses to get off of him.

The white kitten is named after the mother cat from Aristocats, Duchess. And the one-eyed calico...her name is Egg. Because Bob was cooking once, and she knocked an entire carton of eggs off the counter. What better way to memorialize Bob's ruined breakfast plan then by naming the cat after it?

Archie finds this missing mom about two weeks later, just as feral and vicious as her babies. But what do you know, his wife came to the ranch one afternoon and had that damn cat purring in her lap before the sun had set. The cat is now affectionately named Rose, and she's treated better than most people.

Meanwhile, the remaining three find homes on their own. Archie takes the black one, and Rueben and Mickey drive four hours just for the remaining white, but the orange takes a while. He's an adventurous handful who gets his head stuck in a discarded peanut butter jar and somehow got shut in the fridge for about fifteen minutes (he was found snuggling with the jam and the butter).

Until Jake, in the middle of some cross-country road trip, spent the night and impulsively adopted the little ball of mischief. A match made in hell. Where he goes, that cat goes. Walks at the beach, hiking, swimming, road trips, and vacations. The cat even comes to the bar with him.

And then, of course, is the time that Rhett buys a handful of button quail from some guy at the gas station. Despite his avid despise of chickens, Rhett's built a nice little pen for the quail, borderline luxury. It's learned very quickly that Egg will steal the eggs...don't ask how Rhett managed to pry the delicate thing out of her greedy little jaws.

It was traumatic for both of them.

Once, the three were snuggled up on the couch, recovering from a flu that even had the cats sneezing when an advertisement for a local animal shelter flashed across the television. Rhett had pointed to one of the dogs in the background, curled up in the back of its kennel, unnoticed by the person filming. Bob had jokingly said they should go visit the poor thing, not really intending to follow through, but the Reader just couldn't get it out of their head.

So, spontaneously, on a day off, they visited the shelter and spent a half hour searching for the little thing. Until they found him, a German Shepherd-Australian Cattle Dog mix named River by a previous owner. He'd been returned four times for herding children, escaping, and being an overall hellion. One of many, many backyard-bred dogs with too much energy to be a stay-at-home family dog.

The Reader isn't so sure about adopting them, this dog needs a job that they can't exactly provide but they keep coming by every Thursday to take River on a walk, and Rhett's starting to take notice, eventually tagging along to meet River for himself.

You can imagine Bob's surprise when he came home to a new dog in the house. Just a two-week trial to see if they're the right fit because Rhett's gotten it in his head that this dog has what it takes to work on a ranch. He's trained ranch dogs back in Wabang; it's nothing particularly new to him.

It's the longest six months of everyone's lives, keeping River out of the cat litter, breaking him of stealing food, and teaching him his manners, but one way or another, River joins the family. He's got an outdoor kennel and a doggie door to choose when he goes in and out (which is now fully cat-proofed because Egg got out and went on an adventure once).

He floats about the house on days off, hops in the truck with Rhett when he heads off to work, and he's taken to herding cattle a lot quicker than anyone could have expected. River does prefer to lounge in his outdoor area over indoor, but he'll come up to steal some snuggles on the couch every once in a while. Rhett's his primary victim; there have been many times when someone's walked in the living room to find Rhett and River knocked out, snoring.

Likewise, Rhett's been photographed many a time sleeping with his horse while on the clock. Sometimes, there's an hour or two where they're waiting for something to get finished, and there's nothing else to do. So he finds himself a nice spot in the grass, lays down, and slowly but surely, his mare Isabela comes wandering over. Most of the time, she'll just sit and "stand guard" while he naps, but every once in a while, she'll lie down nearby.

The Reader and Bob are cat magnets. They can lay down just about anywhere and wake to a collection of felines around and on them. Bob once fell asleep on the porch swing and woke up to the neighbor's tabby sitting on his legs. And Egg will actively curl herself around someone's head if she can get away with it without waking someone up.

Bob also just...comes home with a duck one day. Found it injured on the side of the road, so of course, he had to pick it up, take it to the vet, and bring it home. And well, the duck has to have friends, and ideally, they need to be in groups of five to six.

So now they have seven ducks that just do their own thing. They go up in their pen every night, are let out when Bob gets up, and wander about the fenced-in portion of the property, quacking about how they plan to kick Rhett's ass the next time they see him.

That's how Rhett views it, anyway.

Normal animals and chickens aside, they don't really own any farm animals. Mostly because nobody has the energy to look after them, and they already get their fix through Rhett's job. Want to meet this year's crop of lambs? Goats? The new donkey? What about Archie's new mule? Calves? They're all a hop and a skip away at Rhett's place of work, free to visit whenever.

Rhett's also a primary catalyst in the "no farm animals" category, primarily because he knows how much of a responsibility those animals can be. It's no fun being stuck at home taking care of animals and not being able to go on vacations because you have nobody to look after them while you're gone.

Though there is the odd occasion where a heifer rejects her calf or passes unexpectedly, and Rhett winds up bringing the baby home to keep an eye on for the night... who would have thought that you could fit a calf in the passenger seat of a truck?

Into The Woods

A Fall in Time, long ago.

Our lives are shaped by the paths we take, whether through choice, or by chance.

Sometimes, this takes the form of the path not taken, sometimes that we follow. Often, both. The idea of how our lives might be utterly different, hinging on just one little thing, is a popular theme, whether in the written word or romantic comedy dramas.

Back in 2010, I was working for the civil service in a northern English city. I had already made some major changes to my life, going through a divorce and trying very hard to rediscover who I was—or perhaps who I thought I should be. But I was not content, nor was I as happy as I felt I should be.

I felt there was something missing, something crucial, a path which lay beyond my reach every morning as I would walk to work, a trail tantalisingly out of sight. I knew it was there, however.

At some point in the summer of 2010, I made up my mind to make some very big changes.

On the 14th of September 2010, a Tuesday, I caught a train just after dawn, after walking the short distance to the railway station, heavily burdened by backpack and shoulder bag, a walking staff I had harvested previously in my hand.

I headed north, initially to Edinburgh, then across to Glasgow, before going still further north.

That evening, after a long day of travel which, in turn, had followed an almost sleepless night before, I walked out from a request stop into the damp of recently-fallen rain, asking the train conductor to drop me off in what on my map looked a suitable location to spend a night or two. I could not walk that far, the weight of my pack was too great, and I was simply too exhausted.

That night, as the sky was beginning to darken, I set up my hammock between two gnarled oak trees, strung my tarp above, ate a quick dinner and fell asleep.

I was to stay out in those woods, alone, until December.

During that time, I cooked over flames every day, had to source, carry, and purify all my water, supplement my rations and supplies with wild food, from the land and from the sea.

Initially, I had intended to follow the coast further north, eventually ending up at my family’s home in Caithness for Christmas, but life didn’t work out quite as planned.

Instead, I built a shelter in those woods, exploring the area around me and immersing myself in all things natural. I slowed down, I listened and scented the air frequently, eventually understanding the language of the local wildlife and surprising myself when I could smell a deer ahead on the trail.

As far as human company went, I was alone the whole time, rarely seeing others apart from on distant boats, or the few occasions I bought some more supplies.

During the months I was out there, I kept a journal in a succession of small Moleskine notebooks, imagining myself the guardian of a tradition embraced by writers such as Chatwin, Hemingway, Laurie Lee, Thoreau and earlier adventurers and explorers.

I also handcrafted blog posts in the notebooks, then photographed the pages on my pre-smart phone, which I charged through a small solar panel. Following this, when the weather agreed, I would hike to find a spot of signal and slowly send them on to my sister, who patiently transcribed my scrawl, before uploading them to her website for others to read. 

A few years later, I shared some of this adventure by way of a now-private and dusty tumblr, uploading some of the thousands of photographs I had taken on my camera, and sharing snippets from those journals.

This year, 2024, I am returning to this adventure and sharing a lot more. Over on my Substack, I will be posting daily Notes and weekly summaries, sharing hundreds of photos, a few videos, and a lot of words and thoughts.

I have created this tumblr to specifically share a few posts and images and to say, if you like these, then there will be a lot more at The Crow's Nest letter. A lot of it is free and, as well as this adventure, I also share nature and place writing, discussion of ancestral skills and bushcraft, thoughts and feelings about those liminal spaces in our world, and also a weekly dose of fiction. I illustrate all of these with original photography or designs. No AI to be seen in that space...

Complete guide to Flickr and why you should use it

bc I got some things wrong but it’s still a very good website that we should all use instead of Instagram

1: Flickr isn’t tied to Meta or any of that Facebook bullshit, from my knowledge it doesn’t share your contacts so no one will get a notification that you joined, it’s safer that way and more private than Instagram.

2: It’s built for photos. Instagram kills quality of photos, if you’re an artist, especially a digital one, uploading to Flickr would be way better for people to actually see detail and the color.

Going on with this because it’s built for photos, while it can host video, it doesn’t have TikTok/Reels and lives which is soooo nice. Like I don’t hate that stuff, but I like that Flickr isn’t trying to catch on the latest trends.

3: There isn’t likes. Flickr is mainly for sharing and LOOKING at photos. The most interaction you can get one on one is commenting, following, and favoriting. Favoriting is basically the public saves, no one really faves things on there unless it’s a recipe or for a reference or something.

4: Groups. Flickr does have an option for communities to make groups in where you can share similar interests MOST OF THESE ARE DEAD BUT WE CAN BRING THEM BACK!!! (IM BEGGING)

5: The bios are unlimited ( I think ), I copy and pasted the entire Bee Movie script three times along with my own bio that was already in there. I’m always pissed when I have to trim my bio, so bitches who like to put everything in their bio this website is for YOU

6: It’s in chronological order. Everything. You can even look up when certain posts where made by year, month, even fucking day. The archives of Flickr are so fucking fun.

7: Its not a contest. The main reason as to why I fucking hate Instagram (other than they took away chronological order and being able to see the recents under a tag) is that it focuses too much on “#aesthetic” even on the casual Instagram side people are still posing and trying to make an aesthetic of it. Flickr is just for photos you like, which yes can be aesthetic, but it’s mainly for daily life. You will see older people just posting what they are working on, maybe a cat they saw at the store, nothing planned. Just a quick unprompted click.

8: Organization, Flickr let’s you have Albums which is where you can organize all your photos in much like Pinterest. Most do it by year but others do it by topic too.

9: You can upload photos in bulk. You don’t have to upload them one by one, or at a limit of ten, you can upload a FUCK ton of photos at once.

10: if you don’t like ads and want more storage space, the pro version is extremely cheap compared to Netflix. Netflix without ads is fucking $15.49 and Flickr is $8.25 a month. There are also two other payment plans if that’s still too much for you.

11: It allowed adult content. In like. Every form. Enough said

CONS

1: You can’t DM (this is not a con to me and I hate when people complain about this just fucking use a email it is so fun to email people please for the love of god)

2: You can only upload 1,000 images before you run out of space. (You can always delete images later, I personally like to delete images at new years for a fresh start and archive them somewhere else)

re: leaving instagram

i've noticed the subtleties in the transactional interactions on instagram.

if i'm not actively posting bodychecks, people start to forget my existence. even people i thought were genuinely reaching out to me to become friends—they seem to only want to talk to me if i've been posting photos of my body. they only like the stories that are of my body.

(not everybody. you know who you guys are, and i appreciate you endlessly.)

i'm not naïve or foolish—this is what i signed up for. this is what i get for: A: engaging with an app that is personal-photo-based in the first place, and B: fostering a mutual community of people with eating disorders.

i made my bed, now lie in it; i reap what i sow; i dug my own grave, etc, etc.

when i first made the account, i was rabid about posting photos every day. i had been private online for so long that i felt like i was breaking open a dam. i grew up on myspace. i had a camera in my own face every single day. but, after i transitioned as masc years later, i became ashamed of my feminine features. i only posted photos where i passed as masc well enough, which took great effort, make up, and some costume tricks (yes...i may have cut up hair extensions and made myself a beard). and, even then, i would get nervous about posting any photos at all—deathly afraid of my femininity.

there were a few instances where i would create fake social media accounts, give myself a fake name, and post pictures of myself dolled up as femme to the nines. an outlet to release the feminine side of myself without fear, but keeping the entity as far away from the "real" me as possible. but, even that was fake and untrue to myself—wearing makeup i never wore. wearing extensions that were shoved away, tangled, in a box.

i haven't been honestly myself in online spaces in many, many years.

this instagram account was the first time i truly let myself be... me.

but the novelty of posting pictures every day wore on me. i do still have an ed and bdd, after all.

especially when i reached my lowest weight of all time spring of last year. i felt like every picture i posted should be "perfect". the smaller i became, the more i scrutinized myself. looking even the slightest bit too large in any given angle was unacceptable.

the attention i got during that time was also at its peak.

and my mentality from that time regarding photos of myself never recovered.

my weight went up. it became harder and harder for me to want to take pictures. even when i would force myself to take pictures, it became harder to pick one i even wanted to post. not to mention, chronic illness has absolutely debilitated me the past year. most days, i am in bed, in pajamas, in no state (mind and body) to take photos.

and people started talking to me less and less, liking my posts less and less, viewing my stories less and less. the only time people would remember i existed is when i posted an acceptable bodycheck. then i would get a short-lived spike in people liking me again. only to die down until i posted my next check.

people weren't interested in my text posts, or the videos i would share. to put it plainly—people are not interested in me as a person.

why does this matter?

two reasons: it reinforces my bdd-based belief that i am only worth anything if i am thin and pretty. and... i was on myspace trying to be the next audrey kitching scene queen at age 10, meaning attention from others validating my very existence was interwoven into my young, developing brain. and there it yet remains.

and it's not just about other people. taking a good photo of myself gives me sense of pride and rejuvenation so immense that i'll never be able to explain. i assume that feeling also took root from the myspace scene queen days. a new pfp was everything back then, after all. i guess my brain still thinks it is.

my instagram account did not start like this. it used to be a small, casual little place where i would upload daily snaps. and it's sad this is where it has ended.

my insecure little delusions raveled up in themselves, tangling my body and leaving me motionless in fear of judgment. paralyzed.

in short: we're not having fun anymore, and i need to do myself a service and take responsibility for that.

i need to leave.

Snoop Dogg said he always dreamed of being a pimp, and those dreams (sort of) came true. He claimed to have had a tourbus full of women whose services he'd offer around while on tour, to other athletes and entertainers. A day after being called out by the public for cheating, Snoop decided to show some love to his wife as well as switch out the backseat cushions. Along their 24 year long marriage there have been many public bumps along the road, but hopefully none found anywhere privately.

Ok so, when I was 11 I was very autistic about the youtube channel SuperMarioLogan (he didn't do anything to me dw but you'll see why I'm mentioning him), so much so that I often interacted with the community, mostly the reviewers as I loved watching YouTube reviews at the time.

Keep in mind I was there from the ages 11-13 and was raised very chronically online, so I did alot of stupid shit, mostly just cringe fanart of two specific SML centric channels, one named Rev and the other flamey. Through those two I discovered the subject of today's discussion, Dabhdude. Looking back this guy's content was- something, honestly watching him is the same vibe as watching like 2015 MrEnter or some shit, dude would rage so hard over these damn plush videos and he had this nerd emoji ass voice. Knowing me I probably watched him to seem cool and mature cuz dude was homophobic and transphobic so I doubt he liked me very much lol.

So Dabhdude was friends with the youtuber I mentioned prior, Rev and Flamey, the latter in particular he had alluded to not getting along with.

Something something Flamey annoyed him or whatever the fuck.

So Dabhdude was like "yea, me and Flamey are gonna do a PUBLIC debate."

If you're over the age of like- 13 or have at least 2 working braincells you should know doing public debates over friend drama is, 1: stupid, 2: petty and 3: SHOULD BE IN PRIVATE!!! The internet is not your jury to decide which of your friends is in the wrong. I'm sure most of you know that or at least you should know that.

Anyways dude literally hypes up this fucking debate (which keep in mind again is just friend drama) by making trailer videos to it. Dab is telling all his followers about this, most of them being minors like I was.

Day of the debate rolls around and...it's a shit show, some claims against Dab were more serious than others, some valid points were made under some non vaild ones, like I really don't care and didn't need to know Dab's fucking penis size and how he lied about it but thanks ig.

The big debate ender claim comes up: Dab is a hypocrite

Why is he a hypocrite? So Dab held himself as a Christian man, a dude who hated sin and also hated self pleasure (ie: masterbation) but had apparently admitted to jacking off to porn of princess peach.

The stream didn't stay up much longer after that as the entire thing dissolved into chaos.

His girlfriend broke up with him (me and her being friends at the time). I'm not sure why exactly they broke up, I'm not gonna throw around any assumptions but everyone in his community fucked HATED her like really fucking hated her to a weird ass degree. You might be asking how we know this, Dab literally uploaded a video telling everyone the personal shit.

Soonyoung was aware that you’d be coming from Japan for your collaborative magazine photoshoot. He just didn’t know that you’d be going straight from the airport at four o’clock in the morning. 

He thought he read your message wrong saying that you’re on your way to the assigned shooting location. As far as he’s concerned, the call time was at seven a.m. He had to do a double take while squinting his eyes over the brightness of his phone but when he saw another bubble pop out saying you’re already there, he immediately jumped off his bed to shower. 

He misses you. You’ve been going in and out of the country because of promotions and the chances of getting to see you has been slim to none. If he ever meets with you, it will be short because either one of you has to go back to work or has to go back to bed because there is a flight to catch the next day. It’s obviously tough. But your relationship perseveres. 

Soonyoung will do everything to make it work and you are together with him on that. So if it means he has to shower half-asleep and wear his boxers backwards just to see you, he’d never mind.

Your Japanese album tour started and ended successfully but work didn’t stop from there. You were just getting started. Before leaving the said country, you were fully booked for live television performances, interviews, variety shows and the like. It was exhausting but, it was an opportunity that you couldn’t miss out on for the world even if you wanted to. 

Soonyoung is proud of you and he will always be. Heart eyes were formed whenever he got the chance to watch your performances whether it be from a paid livestream event or from kind fans sharing and uploading their videos or photos on Twitter or Instagram. He’s even more in love when it’s in person and he gets to watch your performance plus enjoy it with your never failing supportive fans. 

However, Soonyoung is also worried because he knows you’re also tired. He knows how fulfilling it is to do what you love the most, but he’s no stranger to the physically and mentally tiring part of it. He wasn’t even surprised to catch you asleep on the couch when he arrived at your dressing room. 

Your manager’s eyes brightened when they saw him, quickly standing up from the chair to give him a hug. 

“They told me they just need a fifteen minute nap,” they whisper against Soonyoung’s shoulder as he hugs them back. “But we both know they need more than that.”

Soonyoung sadly smiles while his eyes never leave your curled form. He mutters a simple “I’ll take it from here” while your manager excuses themself to buy everyone breakfast. 

It’s a challenge to take you into his arms without disturbing your sleep because he doesn’t want that from happening. He just wants to hold you for the remaining time without interruption from other people. He just wants to hold you and share this moment of calm before the lights and camera get into action later. 

Soonyoung’s thankful you didn't, although he still felt your lips lightly ghost against his jaw, telling him that you know that he’s here. He brings your legs over his lap while he cradles your head close to his neck. He wishes to lay down, but the couch is too cramped for two bodies so he’d have to settle with this position. He guesses it’s fine with how you deeply inhale his scent and snuggle closer and closer, locking your arms around his waist with no intentions of letting go. 

Just like you, he falls asleep, completely comfortable and content in finally having you in his arms again. 

Your tangled bodies were shaken to wake up at least an hour later. Both of your managers have food in their hand, ready to energize the two of you up before moving forward with the hair and makeup. The agenda for today includes a photoshoot with several changes of outfit, a short shoot for an audio video presentation and lastly an interview or question and answer of some sort. 

Your relationship has been publicly known for two years already. Some fans have been supportive while some have been angry. It’s nothing new and it’s nothing the two of you could care about at this point. 

Countless projects have been offered to the two of you during the course of those two years whether it be a song or dance performance, a guesting on a famous variety show and even a three second cameo appearance on a drama. They’re all lovely offers and you would love to participate, but the two of you made a decision to keep the relationship private. Sure, you’ll accept it from time to time. But, it’s still very limited to one to two songs to sing or dance to together and some magazine photoshoots. Just like now. 

By far, this is the third time the two of you would be featured on a magazine cover. Your respective publicists already know how to communicate to the publishing company your terms and conditions. Questions about your relationship are allowed, but to a certain number only. The rest will be about what’s mostly seen by fans and the rest of the public which is automatically your music. 

The concept is not necessarily daringly romantic. After all, what you’re trying to promote here is the clothes. But your chemistry is maintained with a few fleeting touches here and there. In one shot, you two were holding hands and the other has his arm is loosely wrapped around your neck. 

You and Soonyoung are careful to not get lost in each other’s eyes during the short breaks in between because the cameras were still rolling. Although, his soft touches on your hand and arm still lingered. On the other hand, you help him fix his hair whenever he gets excited and jumps from time to time. You could kiss him right now, but again, you want to be careful. 

The shoot concluded faster than you thought and the next thing you know, the two of you are sitting side by side with a camera blinking red in front, ready to record the interview included in the contract. 

The interview consisted of questions that’s nothing out of the ordinary. The magazine asked about your favorite go-to styles lately, your look inspirations, a little bit of this or that, your recent music releases or favorite music releases at the moment and of course something about your relationship that you're comfortable and willing enough to share. 

But one particular question caught you off guard that you had to hold your tears and brave through the rest of the interview without showing any signs that you’re about to cry.

“How have you guys been lately, individually?”

“I’ve been great,” you quickly answer with a smile that didn’t even reach your eyes. The camera may not have noticed, but Soonyoung did. It took a lot of patience and restraint for your boyfriend to stop himself from cutting the interviewer off to ask you again how you really have been. 

Everything that was in store for the two of you today ends and when the cameras are gone, you and Soonyoung hand in hand walk back to your dressing room. It’s a relief that this is the last project for the day and you’re glad you could get some rest for the coming week.

Your body slumps on the couch while the staff pack up. You puff out a breath before closing your eyes. You wish you could yell out how tired you are lately. Work piled up over the course of six months and you couldn’t have at least two days away from the makeup and flashing lights. 

Soonyoung bites his lower lip as he settles beside you. He’s contemplating whether he should ask you now or later because he doesn’t want you to grow conscious and shut yourself away. He knows how brave and strong you are. But he also wants you to know that you can trust him and that if you ever need a shoulder to cry or at least lean on, his are more than welcoming. 

“You okay, babe?” He asks in the quiet as the staff leaves one by one. “Anything bothering you?”

You surprise him by sitting up straight and opening your eyes, welling with tears. That makes him shoot up and instantly hug you close. “Oh baby.”

You finally cry and set free the tears that you’ve been locking deep within you. You thought you could brave through this pain and anxiety without having the need to shed any vulnerability. You thought this shall pass soon. You thought you could do this. 

But here you are now letting go with sniffles and shaking shoulders as Soonyoung gently caresses the top of your head. 

He hates to see you cry. But it’s only right to let you. 

“I just feel like I’m going to miss out on everything if I turn down any project offered to me.”

Soonyoung pouts when he hears what’s been bothering you. It took a while for you to calm down and finally talk, but it’s okay. He doesn’t mind. He will never mind. 

“I understand, honey,” he assures you and wipes your tear stained cheek. “And there’s nothing wrong with feeling that way.”

Your lips shake again and crying makes you want to hide. Without hesitation, you crawl to your boyfriend’s lap and wrap your arms around his shoulder. Soonyoung doesn’t complain and just keeps you close, protective arms around your waist.

The dressing room is empty except for the two of you. The staff got the message once Soonyoung pleaded with them through his eyes to give you some time with him since you’re already done for the day.

“It’s also okay to work and work,” he continues, soothing hands rubbing against your back. “But at some point, it’s also okay to take a break for them.”

You pull away and rest your hands on his neck. “Even though I’m going to miss out?”

Soonyoung nods and leans his forehead against yours. “Yes and there’s also nothing wrong with that.”

“I seriously want to go on a trip with my family,” you say and sigh. “And of course, with you too.”

Soonyoung can’t help but giggle. “I’d love to. How about next month? Let’s go somewhere with your family or friends. Where do you want to go? What do you want to do?”

Your boyfriend’s enthusiasm puts a smile on your face and this time, the smile reaches your eyes. “Let’s go somewhere quiet first. I want to take a long nap before we proceed to do anything that needs an awake body.”

“You got it, babe,” Soonyoung promises and kisses your lips.

The following week, Azriel read Elain’s messages too many times to admit. He had answered her that “meat banjo” was, indeed, a vile word, and after that, they hadn’t really talked or texted.

He had saved her number as “Elain”, which had felt weirdly private. As if they were friends, which they were not. He was just her friendly helper, and she was his remedy for nightmares.

However, even though they didn’t know each other, Azriel felt an odd sensation in his chest when he thought about her. If he didn’t know better, he would have thought that he was missing her, which was absurd. But the tight little knot in his chest felt very much like longing. He tried to tell himself that this was weird and stupid. He knew that he had a crush on her (even though he hated to admit it), but he could also see that it was a pointless crush. She was an internet sensation, he was a boring IT guy. She was light and happiness and flowers, he was dark and brooding. She made people smile, he made people uncomfortable. And then there was the practical side of things. They had met on the internet. She probably lived on the other side of the country. Hell, she could even live in a different country for all he knew. She might have a partner already - it’s not like he asked. And, last but not least, she probably didn’t have a crush on him.

Before talking to her on the phone, he had just thought that she was a pretty girl that deserved kindness. But after their phone call, he had definitely developed a crush. Which was another reason why he hadn’t texted her. He didn’t want to bother her and he didn’t want to have this crush. He wanted to stop feeling like this for a girl he would never see in real life. Yet, every night before bed, he found himself on her youtube page, watching one of her many videos.

She uploaded a new video to Youtube every Friday, so when Friday came around, Azriel was itching to get home so he could go to sleep (he told himself that he was looking forward to sleeping and not to seeing her face).

However, he had an entire workday to get through first. The office was mostly an open landscape and Azriel’s desk was next to Cassian’s. The only person with his own office was Rhysand, which was fair since he was the owner of the company. At two in the afternoon, Rhys poked his head out of his office.

“You guys are still coming for dinner this weekend, right?”

“Yeah,” Azriel and Cassian answered in unison.

“I told Feyre that I would help her with the food,” Azriel continued.

Rhys looked like he was going to kiss Azriel. “Oh, god. Thank you, man. I was scared that we would have to repeat the Christmas dinner,” he said and shuddered.

Feyre hated to cook and Rhys did most of the cooking at home, but for some inexplicable reason, she always wanted to cook for holidays or family dinners. To everyone’s dismay. Christmas had been no exception. She had burned the turkey, added salt instead of sugar to the dessert and somehow managed to buy the wrong berries for her cranberry sauce. Luckily, Rhys had been prepared and bought a few frozen pizzas and some ice cream, so the day wasn’t that much of a disaster, but nobody wanted to brave Feyre’s cooking again.

“Why don’t you just cook?” Cassian asked without looking up from his screen.

“You know that she kicks me out if I so much as go near the kitchen when we have these family dinners. And since she started the hormone treatment, she has been a bit bitchy when she gets mad, so I’ll just do whatever she says.”

Azriel chuckled. He could tell from Rhysand’s tone that Feyre had been more than “a bit” bitchy.

“I don’t understand why she lets Azriel help, though…”

“Maybe because she knows that I’ll tell her to sit down with a glass of wine and a magazine, and then she can take all of the credit for the food?”

“Fair enough.” Rhys shrugged. “Just burn the food a little bit, or it won’t be believable.”

Cassian snorted. “No one would believe that something edible was made by your wife. Sorry.”

“She does make a great green smoothie, though,” Rhys grinned and held up his glass.

Azriel and Cassian looked at each other and had to bite their tongues to keep from laughing. The smoothie looked vile and smelled even worse.

After a few more minutes of small talk, Rhys went back to his office for an important phone call. “See you on Saturday,” he reminded them before closing the door.

Azriel and Cassian worked in silence for the remainder of the day.

When Azriel came home that evening, he made a quick pasta carbonara to eat in front of the TV. He was re-watching New Girl. It was his comfort show and absolutely nobody knew that he watched it (and had watched it multiple times). He would take that information with him to the grave. But it was fun and cute and sometimes he liked to imagine his friends as characters in the show. Cassian was probably Schmidt, because Nesta was one hundred percent Cece. Feyre was Jess, which meant that Rhys was Nick. And then there was Azriel. He wanted to say that he was a very cool character, but most characters on this show weren’t cool, and also, he was definitely Winston. Alone with a cat - sounds about right , Azriel thought to himself as he finished his bowl of pasta.

When the episode ended he just waited for the next to start. He didn’t have any plans for the night and nowhere to be. His phone vibrated where he had left it on the kitchen counter. He ignored it, feeling too lazy to get up. But then it vibrated again. With a sigh, he got up. He expected to see a text from Mor telling him to bring wine tomorrow, or maybe a strange meme from Cassian. What he didn’t expect was to see Elain’s name on his screen.

He could feel his heart in his throat as he read her messages.

Elain Hey, Shadowsinger. I’m uploading a new video soon. You should watch it!

Elain I hope that message didn’t sound creepy? I just meant that I think you might like it.

Azriel’s hands were sweaty.

Azriel You didn’t sound creepy at all. Of course, I’ll watch your video. May I ask what I can expect from it?

Just seconds later, Elain answered.

Elain You can ask, but I might not tell ;)

Azriel Should I be worried?

Elain Haha, no! I think it turned out great. You were my inspiration :)

Azriel could feel himself blush. He had never been someone’s inspiration before.

Azriel So, I’m your muse? ;)

Oh god, was that too flirty? Was the winky-face too much? He wished that he could take back the message.

Elain For tonight, yes!

Azriel stared at his phone, unsure of what to answer. Luckily, Elain wrote to him again.

Elain What are you doing tonight?

Azriel Nothing. Just eating pasta and watching TV. How about you?

Elain That sounds amazing. I have been editing this video for hours so I’m just tired and cranky, haha. I have just ordered a pizza and I think I’ll just eat it in bed as soon as this video has finished uploading. What did you watch?

Azriel If I told you, I would have to kill you.

Elain Oh, intriguing! Is it trashy drama? I bet it’s Grey’s anatomy! Or maybe… Love Island?

Azriel stared at his phone. Did she really think that he would watch something like Love Island?

Azriel I watched New Girl, okay. Don’t tell anyone.

Elain Your secret is safe with me! Also, I love New Girl! Especially Winston!

It felt as if someone was squeezing Azriel’s heart.

Azriel Really? Which character would you be?

Elain My pizza is here so I am going to put all of my electronics in a different room and eat my pizza while reading a good book. It was great talking to you, Azriel! Please tell me what you thought of the video when you have watched it.

Elain Oh, and I would probably be Winston’s cat. lol

Azriel almost dropped his phone. If he had to be alone with a cat for the rest of his life, he would definitely want Elain to be his cat , he thought to himself. Which was a weird thing to think about someone you didn’t know. Azriel dropped his head to his kitchen counter and took a deep breath before replying.

Azriel It was great talking to you too, Elain. Enjoy your dinner and your book :)

She didn’t answer, but she didn’t have to. Azriel was going to be thinking about her for the rest of the night anyway.

30 minutes later, he got a notification telling him that Flower Girl ASMR had uploaded a new video. The video was called “ASMR for IT-guys”, which made him chuckle. He clicked the video and Elain’s beautiful face filled his screen again.

“Hello, my lovelies, lovelies, lovelies,” she whispered in her microphone. “This week’s video will be a bit different,” she continued, slowly moving her hands in front of the camera. “This video was inspired by my friend who recently helped me with some computer-related issues, issues, issues.”

Azriel loved it when she repeated words like that. And he liked that he somehow was a part of this video. It was something that connected them. Azriel paused the video and got into bed, knowing fully well that he would probably fall asleep soon if he kept watching this.

He pressed play again. “So, today, I thought that we would try a few computer-related triggers. I have a keyboard here,” she said and started typing on a keyboard that was out of view. “I thought that I would say a few trigger words while typing them.”

She smiled at the camera and pressed a few more keys. “I just wrote my friend’s name, but you won’t get to know who he is. But you know who you are. Thank you for your help!”

Azriel felt all warm inside.

She continued the video. “The first trigger word is IP address ”. Azriel laughed as she repeated the word multiple times while typing quickly.

“And then we have, laptop, laptop, laptop,” she continued, and Azriel felt shivers go down his spine when she popped the p’s.

Azriel had never thought that he would fall asleep to someone whispering “HTML coding” in his ears, but here he was. Relaxed and ready to sleep.

The next day, Azriel texted Elain that he had loved the video. He waited for hours, but no reply came. Maybe she just wanted to repay me for helping her? Azriel thought. Maybe she would stop talking to him now that he had seen the video.

The thought of never talking to Elain again made him feel a new kind of ache in his chest. An ache he didn’t want to feel. This stupid crush needs to end, he muttered to himself as he started to scrub his kitchen counter. He tried to ignore the feeling by keeping busy. He cleaned his apartment and did some laundry before heading over to his friends’ house.

Rhys greeted him by the door and ushered him inside.

“She started cooking like 15 minutes ago, please save whatever can be saved,” he whispered to Azriel. Azriel chuckled and made his way to the kitchen. On the way there, he passed the living room and stopped to greet his friends. He saw most of them on a daily basis because of work, but he was still happy to see them. Cassian and his fiancée Nesta sat close together on one of the green velvet couches. On the opposite couch sat Mor and Amren. Mor was one of the journalists at Velaris News, and Amren was an editor. They had known each other for years. Amren and Rhys had studied together at university, and Mor was Rhysand’s cousin. Once upon a time, Azriel had a crush on Mor. One night after one too many glasses at Rita’s he confessed his feelings to her and she had looked horrified. He had expected her to tell him that she didn’t fancy him and leave it at that, but instead, she had blurted “I like girls!”

Azriel was the first person she ever came out to, and he had felt honored. He also knew now that they wouldn’t have worked out together in the long run (even if Mor had been straight). They were just too different. She was energetic and outgoing and fun, he needed peace and quiet. But she was still one of his very best friends.

Amren on the other hand, he didn’t know as well. She had always been very private, but she was damn good at her job.

“Where’s Varian tonight?” Azriel asked Amren, trying to make small talk.

“How should I know?” she answered quickly. “I’m not his mother.”

Cassian stared at her. “But you are his girlfriend?”

She shrugged. “I don’t like to label things.”

Nesta rolled her eyes. Amren had lived with Varian for the past two years, but she was still reluctant to tell anyone about their relationship.

Azriel made his way into the kitchen, and from what he could tell, he made it just in time.

“What are you making, Feyre?” he asked, because truthfully, he couldn’t tell.

Feyre turned around quickly as if he had startled her. “Oh, hi Az,” she said and wiped her forehead with the back of her hand.

Something was burning.

“I was trying to make lamb chops with glazed carrots, roasted potatoes, and salsa verde, but…” she gestured to the stove, which looked like a disaster.

Azriel chuckled. “That’s ambitious.” He lifted the lid from one of the pots and could clearly see that she had overcooked the lamb 10 minutes ago. Also, why had she made them in a pot, and not a frying pan? It would be inedible.

The potatoes were still in the sink, unpeeled.

She gave him a strained smile. “Will you help me?”

“Of course.” Azriel put the grocery bag he had brought with him on the kitchen island. “On one condition.”

“Anything.” She sounded desperate.

“Please, for the love of god, let Rhys cook when we come over. You really don’t have to show off. You are good at many things, Feyre. But cooking is unfortunately not one of them.”

She nodded. “I know,” she sat down on one of the stools at the kitchen island and buried her face in her hand. “I just...I need to be able to cook when I become a mother.”

Azriel took her hand in his. “You really don’t. Nobody expect fathers to be good at cooking, so why should every mother be good at it? Honestly, just let Rhys cook while you play with the kids.”

She smiled at him. “That actually sounds amazing,” she sighed.

“Right?”

Azriel started to pull out some ingredients from the bag on the kitchen island. He held up the tomatoes and the spaghetti, “How about some pasta arrabbiata with burrata?”

“Sounds fancy.”

He shrugged. “Everything sounds fancier in a different language. It’s just pasta with a spicy tomato sauce, and burrata on top.”

“Whatever you make will probably be better than that mess,” she said and glanced towards the stove. Azriel couldn’t disagree.

“Probably,” he laughed and got to work. Azriel placed all the pots and pans in the sink and started chopping the vegetables for the sauce, and in just 30 minutes, dinner was served.

“You are my hero,” Feyre said and kissed his cheek as she carried the big bowl of pasta to the dining room.

Everyone had already gathered around the table, wine glasses in hand. As Azriel sat down, Mor poured him some wine.

“This looks amazing,” Nesta said and Cassian nodded in agreement.

“Thanks, Az helped a little,” Feyre said and winked at Azriel.

“Just a bit,” Azriel said and took a sip of wine.

The conversation (and wine) flowed freely, as it always did. Cassian and Nesta told them about their wedding plans, Mor gushed about Emerie, a girl she was dating, and Feyre told them about life as a high school art teacher. Azriel would never understand how anyone could choose to spend their days with teenagers, but Feyre loved it.

After two bottles of wine, Nesta and Mor were in an argument about which animal was the cutest.

“No, I am telling you, Sloths are cuter than any animal ever,” Mor exclaimed. “Have you seen their dopey little faces?”

“Sloths? Really?” Nesta looked at her as if she had suggested that the sky was green. “Red pandas are way cuter! They are cute and cuddly, Sloths just look like every single stoner I went to high school with.”

They had been at it for 10 minutes, which Azriel found to be quite impressive.

“Can you both just shut up?” Amren gritted out. “The cutest animals are koalas. They’re even cute when they fight. I am right, you are wrong. Please stop this meaningless discussion before I die from boredom.”

Nesta and Mor looked at Amren, and then at each other.

“We obviously have to see Koalas fight if you want us to end this conversation,” Mor said.

Nesta nodded. “Obviously. Give me your phone, Az,” she said and reached for his phone.

“Why do you need my phone?”

“Because mine is dead and yours is right there on the table. Also, your screen is big and we need to watch this in full HD, for obvious reasons.”

Azriel huffed a laugh, unlocked his phone, and handed it to Nesta.

She clicked the Youtube app, and then her face fell. She looked at Azriel as if he was an alien, and then she showed the phone to Cassian who looked at him with the same facial expression.

What the hell had they found?

He didn’t have anything weird on his phone. And he sure as hell didn’t watch porn on it.

“What?” Azriel asked, and Nesta turned the phone.

Fuck. The last video he had watched was still loaded on Youtube, and of course, it was Elain’s latest video.

“What the hell is this?” Nesta asked, almost looking angry.

Azriel didn’t understand why she found ASMR so wrong, but he desperately wanted to explain himself.

“Well, it’s ASMR. It’s kind of… well, it’s hard to explain, but it helps me sleep and– “

Nesta interrupted him before he could finish. “I know what ASMR is. I am wondering why you are watching Elain?”

Azriel stared at Nesta in shock. Did she also like Elain’s videos? But that wouldn’t explain the anger and confusion.

“Do you...know her?” Azriel asked.

“Yes, we went to university together. She’s our florist for the wedding. She was the florist at their wedding, too,” Nesta answered and gestured towards Rhys and Feyre. “Surely you have met her?”

Azriel could do nothing but shake his head in confusion. If he had ever met Elain, he would have known. You didn’t forget a face like hers.

“Please tell me you’re not stalking her like some creep, Az. Honestly, her last boyfriend was the world’s biggest asshat.”

“I’m not stalking her,” Azriel blurted out. “I’m just watching her videos to fall asleep, I promise. I– I didn’t know that you knew her.”

Nesta eyed him suspiciously. “So, is this just a coincidence?”

He nodded. “Weirder things have happened,” he said, trying to lighten the mood.

Nesta glanced at Cassian, and then back at Azriel. “Fine,” she said after a small eternity. “You would probably be cute together anyway. Sorry for insinuating that you would be a stalker.” She really did look remorseful. “That wasn’t fair. I’m just very protective of her. She’s the nicest girl, but she has horrendous taste in men.”

Azriel couldn’t answer, because his mind was still stuck on the fact that Nesta said that they would be cute together. He wanted to ask Nesta why she thought that. He kind of also wanted to ask her if Elain lived here in Velaris, and what her favorite movie was, and if she, by any chance, had a boyfriend. But he refrained, he didn’t want to sound like a stalker.

“So, what the fuck is ASMR?” Cassian asked. “Is it like porn?”

Before Azriel could answer, Rhys said “It’s like porn for your ears, I guess,” and then the entire table was laughing.

“Nesta,” Feyre said when the laughter had died down. “Does Elain still have that cute, little shop on River Street?”

“Mhm,” Nesta answered and took a sip of her wine.

Azriel could kiss Feyre for asking. And if he wasn’t mistaken, he could see her wink in his direction before raising her water glass to her lips.

Elain I’m sorry that I didn’t answer you earlier. I’ve been at work all day. We had a leak in the basement and everything was just chaos. I haven’t even checked my phone until now.

He mentally scratched number 9 from his list.

Azriel No worries! Did you fix the leak?

Azriel checked the time on his phone: 23.30

Had she dealt with this leak until now?

Elain Yes! But so many flowers were ruined (I’m a florist) and I had to remake a few arrangements for a wedding that’s coming up.

Elain I’m sorry. You probably don’t care. I’m happy that you liked the video :)

Azriel wanted to tell her that he did care. That everything she said was interesting to him. He would probably even find her Starbucks order fascinating. But that bordered on stalker behavior.

She was giving him ‘thumbs up’ in the photo and through the window, he could see the Sidra. They were indeed in the same city. It made him both happy and nervous.

Okay. That was flirty. Even Azriel could tell that that was a flirty text message, and he was usually oblivious to such things. He quickly walked to his bathroom (it was the room with the best lighting). He checked his shirt (no stains) and mussed with his hair.

“Good enough,” he muttered, and snapped a selfie.

Before he could chicken out, he sent it to her.

Within seconds, he received a reply.

a chanbaek analysis from a veteran exo-l (part 2)

Writing this was a bit harder in comparison to the first part, because I wanted to organize things into a neat timeline, but I ended up not having enough patience for it lol specially because both of ChanBaek's main archive blogs seem to have deleted their pages documenting each date of EXO's early years. Therefore I apologize in advance if this part is a bit more messy. Also, please don't forget that all of this is my opinion and I don't mean for any of it to be taken as truth!

I kind of want to jump from MAMA era directly into Wolf era, since we don't really have a lot of cover regarding their debut phase besides Chanyeol's overeagerness and Baekhyun's awkwardness towards it, so to sum it up, I felt as if Chanyeol was more confident and consistent on what he thought an idol should act like, while Baekhyun (sweet, innocent Baekhyun who was a trainee for less than a year!) was still unsure on how to act on camera.

On the few early variety shows/interviews EXO appeared on, the members always pointed out how funny Baekhyun was, how good he'd be at variety and at doing imitations, but he never really lived up to all the praise on camera, although off of it, he most likely was as good as his members claimed.

He was a bit stiff on his early days in comparison to what we see today, and that's normal, I guess, since he debuted really quickly, but when you compare him to Chanyeol the contrast is so interesting, because the latter was able to latch on to a persona as soon as the public gave him one, while to me, Baekhyun was still doubtful regarding what to put on display. In the end, deep inside, Baekhyun is a private person, and was even more so when he wasn't confident enough to talk to fans like he does today.

Once again, I’m sorry for not being able to upload the gifs directly into the post, so I’ll just link them like I did on my last one.

This is another one of the moments where Baek appears to tell Chanyeol to just. Hold on for a bit.

There's another one similar to this where Chanyeol does the same thing (try to whisper on Baekhyun's ear) and Baekhyun fake laughs and stares at a fan's camera right after. Then, his expression just goes blank. It's really interesting to watch because you can just see the gears spinning on Chanyeol's brain as he stares at Baekhyun for a second and clearly thinks alright, fanservice time, and leans in to whisper something: it happens so fast you just know it wasn't genuine whispering, just a playful interaction for the fans, and Baekhyun's direct stare to the camera as soon as it happens just confirms this for me. 

1: Chanyeol spots his target.

2: He’s really thinking this through.

3: Baek's in a perfect position for whispering-time, so he leans in and does his thing.

4: Baekhyun laughs.

5: And stares directly at a fan's camera.

6: Immediately regrets his life choices. Chanyeol looks pleased.

Now let's jump on to Wolf era, shall we?

Wolf era

I can't help but laugh when I think about how wild 2013 was for both EXO and EXO-Ls. They had their first hit song (which was Growl, not Wolf) the fandom grew considerably, shippers where just discovering the cute ISAC moments between "BaekYeol" and "HunHan"... Or at least that's how everyone remembers most of what happened during that year.

Are we forgetting the rumoured ChanBaek fight?

Considering their past interactions on airports, SMTOWN concerts, ISAC and other events, ChanBaek was now widely known to be close to each other. Baekhyun even said Chanyeol was the one who made him open up, and both of them mentioned feeling this "connection" to each other as soon as they met (although jokingly).

After Mama, the fandom was content-less for a considerable period of time, and what most people did was sharing around old performances and repeat overused memes.  I think that in every fandom there is a period where fans establish their main inside jokes and basically just get together to create a collective line of thought for perceiving their idols. That being said, one of the most well established facts in the fandom was that Chanyeol and Baekhyun were close. That was a fact.But then Wolf came, and they suddenly were not. 

This gif is a good example of how awkward their interactions were. Not even my delusional shipping brain in 2013 was able to come up with an explanation for it.

They simply did not acknowledge each other at all, and Chanyeol appeared to be closer to Kyungsoo (I think Baekhyun interacted a lot with Tao, but that may have been during the Growl era, not Wolf. As I said before, I'm a Chanyeol stan guys, sorry lmao).

Point is, these two boys who seemed to be best friends suddenly were clearly distant from one another.

What added fuel to the fire of the rumours was their appearance on Sukira, a radio show, where Sehun cried because the members sometimes had fights. Here's a fanacc:

Here's a video cut of this part of their interview. 

I think this ask on lets-talk-baekyeol, a popular ChanBaek analysis blog from back in the day, shows how curious a lot of fans were.

What happened back then?

There's really no answer for that. On my opinion, not even Chanyeol or Baekhyun could give us a concrete answer on it, because I don't think an actual fight happened. For me, it was most likely a personality clash, a disagreement that probably wasn't even voiced out loud, just both of them noticing how uncomfortable things got, if Baekhyun's reactions to Chanyeol's fanservice is any indication. I somehow doubt there was a specific episode that created this distance between them, specially because during Growl, they went back to being friends, although not as touchy on camera as before, as if one of them had established their limits (oh, I wonder who!), but I still have this feeling that all of this was unspoken, because unspoken things seem to be a pattern on ChanBaek's relationship (something I'll touch on later, hopefully).

But it was during Growl era that I noticed something else about Baekhyun.

Wolf era

EXO'S Showtime was a such a gift. I recommend reading lets-talk-baekyeol's blog for this. I don't really agree with everything they say they do present a lot of relevant points. I may repeat them here, since I noticed them myself as well, but credits for them nonetheless.

I remember finding the lack of ChanBaek interactions during the episodes really dissappointing, but considering the Wolf Era drought, this was better than nothing.

My 13 year old self was devastated when Baekhyun appeared so quiet during Chanyeol's birthday episode, and during a recent rewatch of it, I think realized why.

Baekhyun doesn't like superficial things. It's not that Chanyeol is insincere, but he's just better than Baekhyun is at handling people pleasing, even when he doesn't really mean what's he saying/doing. The Chanyeol birthday episode was heavily centered on Chanyeol's random admiration for Kai, which I think we can all agree that it was a little bit scripted or a really spur of the moment thing that they just ran along with and oh man. Baekhyun did not want to be part of it.

During ChanKai's hug, this is what he looked like on the background, and the poor boy even refused to eat cake. He's just in the back, which is weird, because he's such a talkative person and Chanyeol is one of his closest friends. The only moment where he seems to be genuinely comfortable is when Chanyeol blows the candle and it's really cute. To me, it seems that he was kind of embarrassed to witness so much acting from everyone else and was unable to participate because he struggles with things like this, but the moment Chanyeol blows his candles to comemorate his birthday seems sincere enough for him to fondly smile.

This ties in so well with everything from Mama Era. He's just unable to keep acting/people pleasing on the same easy way that Chanyeol does, but this time he's not as nervous about it as he was on his earlier-early days, where he probably felt pressured to actually do stuff. Now he just doesn't do **it, he just doesn't do something that he dislikes doing, and that sadly creates a distance between them on camera and probably on a deeper level in their relationship as well, because both are just realizing how different their perceptions over their jobs is.

There's also this moment that the mods on lets-talk-baekyeol pointed out.

On the Christmas episode, when the members leave the couch to go get their presents, Chanyeol stays seated while Baekhyun gets up to fetch his. This is the sitting arrangement before (almost) everyone got up:

But when Baekhyun comes back, there's free space next to Chanyeol, however he's hesitant to sit by his side. He actually hesitates and doesn't sit down. Jongdae even gives him a little push right after.

Baek just seems hesitant to do things on camera, to interact with Chanyeol in front of an audience. For this moment, I feel like he's afraid to sit next to Chanyeol and end up having to over act. It's not that Chanyeol himself makes him uncomfortable, but the image of the friendship that they ended up creating for fans demands a lot from him.

And when I say hesitant to do things on camera, I really do mean it, because when Baekhyun thinks he is not being recorded/seen, here's what he does:

Their relationship clearly changed, and I think the reason for it is actually simple: both of them were under the impression that they were compatible with each other when they actually were not. Their personalities are extremely different, even if the way they present themselves is sometimes similar. Wolf and Growl era was our way, as fans, of watching them navigate around each other and finding out how their relationship was supposed to work.

And you know what's nice about that? The members watched all of it unfold. Their reactions to some of ChanBaek's interaction is a gold mine when it comes to analyzing them, because they clearly know, just as we do, that their relationship is kind of complicated. But I want to talk about it on the next part.

I am sorry for cutting this off again! I don't know if the next part is going to be the last, because after Growl there's Overdose and we all know what happened on 2014 [coughs] dating scandal [coughs] god help me I don't want to talk about it [coughs] so there's a lot to uncover and I need time to organize stuff.

It was a weird feeling the first time someone recognized me, or I did a signing and people were there. The first time it really kicked it was we were about to go out and do like an off topic at rtx or something, and it was very shortly after I had been pulled in as part of the main cast and the crowd started to chant "lil j" for no reason and it was so weird.

Exchange Posting Guide

Hello, friends and frenemies! We are less than three days away from the collection opening, which means I have a tension headache every morning I wake up and remember that I have to finish my exchange fic. The no-fault defaulting deadline has passed, but if you realise you will not be able to finish on time please, please let us know ASAP anyway so we can get a knight writer to write your recipient a gift.

On the other hand, if you have completed your exchange fic draft, please remember to tell us before the 1st! About a third of the participants already confirmed they’ve finished their fic, and we say:

Okay, now with the collection opening soon, here’s some FAQ on posting!

First off, how dare you?

Honestly, I ask myself that all the time, and the answer is there is no answer. We knew what an exchange would be like. Chances are, you did too when you signed up because many of you were here last year. We have no one else to blame but ourselves.

How does posting work?

The exchange portal will open on August 1st at 12pm AEST. Once it opens, use AO3 to upload your fic as usual:

Most of the upload process will be exactly the same as usual, but you need to fill in the following two fields:

Fill in the first with “JaimeBrienneFicExchange2021” (It should autofill, but please be careful to select the right collection! This one is the one we're using. Alternatively, you can go straight to that collection and click the “Post to Collection” button on the top right under the banner once the collection is open.)

Type in your recipient’s AO3 name in the second field. Double check your original prompt to ensure you have the correct name. A few people have different tumblr/AO3 names and we don’t want any fics to go awry.

If you've already made an AO3 draft before the 1st, make sure you add it to the collection and put in your recipient's username in the fields we mentioned above, and make sure you change the date when posting (or your fic will be buried). Be aware it can cause some shenanigans where the fic may not appear at the top of the page.

After that, it’s as simple as clicking post! Your fic will be submitted to the exchange and automatically be made anonymous. As the author, when you open your own fic, it will say ‘YourUsername (Anonymous)’, but to other users it will simply say ‘Anonymous’. Author’s names will not be revealed until August 21st, when we click the button to reveal them.

Feel free to reply to comments during that week. As long as you are logged into the account that posted the fic, all of your comments will also be anonymised.

What about Lil’ Oathkeepers?

I’m glad you asked, imaginary exchange participant that’s totally not me talking to myself! A Lil’ Oathkeeper is a gift that can be any size and shape. It can be art! A video edit! A moodboard! A fic shorter than 1000 words! Or… a fic longer than a 1000 words, but you probably know that. Anyone (you don’t even have to be signed up to the exchange) can make and gift a Lil’ Oathkeeper. We’ll be releasing the prompt spreadsheet and posting instructions on the 1st!

Why is the exchange opening a day earlier than you said?

Because Slips has set the time on the exchange to suit her own timezone. She has to stay up till after midnight to watch F1 cars go vroom vroom and had to deal with being spoiled for every single episode of Game of Thrones on Tumblr and Twitter because it aired in the US while she was at work. This is her own petty little vengeance and she will not apologise for that.

Also it’s easier for her to keep everything straight in her head this way. Mathematics is not her strength. We’re kindly moderators though, so here’s a handy timezone conversion for you.

Why do I need to let you know by the 1st that I’ve finished my fic if I can post it anytime during the following week?

So we can find a knight writer ASAP. The sooner we know that you won’t be able to complete your fic, the sooner we can find someone to fill in for you. We don’t want anyone to be disappointed.

Do I have to post ON the 1st of August? I’ll be AFK for the day because my cat has a piano recital!

No, you can post it anytime between the 1st and the 7th. If you can’t or don’t want to post it on Sunday, then you can absolutely wait until later. We anticipate that the bulk of fics will be posted over the weekend, but if you want to post it on the 6th, then that’s absolutely your choice. Just be mindful that your recipient may be worrying why they haven’t received one.

Also tell your cat we’re rooting for them!

I really overshot the 1k limit and need to post multiple chapters. Should I post them together and drop my 40k prompt fill in the tag all at once, or can I stagger it throughout the week?

You must have a complete posted story by the 7th of August, unless you have reached out to us to make alternate arrangements. If you want to post your story over the week, you can. If you want to post it all at once, you can. As long as your prompter gets a completed fic in the posting window, we don’t mind.

(Also, look at your life, look at your choices! It was a 1k minimum!!! Buncha overachievers in this fandom, I swear 😂😂😂)

Can I thank my beta in the notes of my story?

Absolutely you can! The betas of the fandom be working HARD this week, they definitely deserve recognition. Just be mindful of including anything in your notes that might reveal who you are. You could choose to name your beta, or just thank them generally and add their name after authors have been revealed.

What if I don’t receive a story?

It might be because your author hasn’t posted it yet - they have the full week from the 1st to the 7th to post their story. It also might be because your fic needed a knight writer to write it. If this is the case, know that your knight is probably working very diligently to complete it, but might not be able to complete it within the window. If it looks like your fic will be significantly delayed (like until after authors are revealed) we will contact you directly to let you know what’s up.

What’s the etiquette around thanking my author?

A kudos and a comment is pretty standard. It’s up to you how long your comment is; we don’t write comments with our heads, we write them with our hearts. Just keep in mind that a person out there spent time working on something just for you and make sure you show your appreciation, even if the story isn’t exactly what you expected!

Can I promote my story?

Please don’t do this until authors have been revealed through the collection.

Can I rec my gift story?

Absolutely! Share the love! You can choose to rec it while it’s still anonymous, or wait until the authors are revealed. It’s up to you.

You were now facing Jungkooks bare chest, your fingers were tracing his muscles and you looked up to him only to see him already looking at you. "Seeing something you like?" he asked, looking amused as your cheeks started to heat up, "Yes" you whisper with a small grin. A hand came around your waist and pulled you even closer and before you could actually react Jungkook was already leaning over you, one hand next to your head to hold him up. You looked up to him with big eyes. "You wanna be my good girl? Letting me have you before making breakfast? So I can have my breakfast first?" He started to nibble on your throat, leaving big bruises that you knew were going to be so hard to cover up. "Yes, please" you whimper throwing your head back to give Jungkook more space, your hand gripping his hair. You moaned when you felt his hands cupping your breast, pinching you nipple. "Good girl" Jungkook praised. You didn't know, that Jungkooks main goal was to let Jimin know, that you were his. He had noticed how Jimin had that big dominant aura, it had intimidated him, but Jungkook couldn't let the new guy see, that his dominance had effects on him, when he wasn't even trying to. If it had already bothered him so much, how would you react? You, who is so easily manipulated? After you and Jungkook started your day, you quickly feel into your usual routine. Jungkook went for a quick morning jog while you started preparing the breakfast he insisted you'd have together. You stood at the stove preparing three dishes, because you vaguely remember Jungkook bringing someone home? The realisation that you are now alone with a stranger at home, hit you as you heard light footsteps approaching. "You are a dancer, aren't you?" came a soft voice from the doorway. You looked over and saw a blond man leaning against the frame, his tail softly swishing from side to side. You didn't know enough about cats to point out his mood, so you chose to just keep it cool. "How did you know?" you asked a bit surprised. The cat chuckled and pointed at your feet, "You're making breakfast in fourth position." You looked down at your feet and saw that you were indeed standing in a typical ballet position; you looked up to the man a bit embarrassed. The cat stepped a bit closer and him holding his eye contact with you was making you nervous. You looked down again, breaking the contact and missing the smirk that creeped on his face. "Do you dance as well? I've been living with Jungkook for years and he never mentioned it?" The cat scoffed, "I've been dancing since I was little. My previous owner owned his own studio here in town." You smiled at his words, Happy, that you were finally talking to a dancer again, its been too long. "Then if you want, you can come train with me later, after breakfast. Jungkook wants to together, so we gotta wait. Are you eating? Oh I don't know if I introduced myself yesterday, I'm Y/N" The hybrid slowly nodded at the information you were giving him. "I'm Jimin", he said in a smooth voice, "Are you eating before practice? I won't be eating lunch though." You grinned at the revelation that Jimin also wasn't eating lunch. "Yeah, Jungkook wants me to eat before I start the day, but I'm not eating lunch either. I'm mostly practicing at that time" You were stirring the porridge you were making and Jimin hummed in acknowledgement. "You're on a dancer diet too?" he asked and it was as if you understood each other without saying something. A little voice in both of your heads told you, that the 'diet' the two of you were on, wasn't good or healthy, but you felt connected through the knowledge of doing the same thing. You nodded, "And he doesn't like it?” Jimin asked again and you nodded again, remembering the arguments you would have about your eating habits. Jimin smiled, his eyes scrunched together, "That's okay, he just doesn't understand, but don't worry, I do." You started to fill the food in bowls, giving yourself and Jimin smaller portions than Jungkook and Jimin started to set the table. The timing was perfect; Jungkook came through the door just as you put the last bowl down. He spotted you and Jimin and smiled at the both of you. "Morning Jimin-ah", he grinned and Jimin scowled, you all had sat down and started eating. "I'm older than you, you brat" Jungkook grinned cheekily, "Morning Hyung" and you chocked in your first spoon of porridge. "You're older than Jungkook?" Jungkook grinned and sat himself down teasing you, "Were you hoping you'd be a Noona, Baby?" Jimin raised his eyebrows, "You are younger than your hybrid?" It wasn't common for people to adopt hybrids that were older than one, because humans liked that age gave them a superior feeling. You pouted, "Age has nothing to do with behaviour. I'm still the owner." Jungkook snorted, "Yeah, only on paper though" Jimin choked on a laugh, while you just grabbed your empty bowl, head red. Before you left you smacked the back of Jungkooks head making him turn around with a face that said 'try that again and see where it brings you'. You stood in the kitchen scrubbing the bowls clean when Jungkook entered, holding his and Jimins bowl in his hand. "You didn't have to say that", you whisper shouted and him, hitting him with a wet rag. "Try that again. I dare you. Also, he already knew that you are mine. You smell like me, especially after this morning" you could hear the smugness in his voice and felt the blood rushing to your cheeks. "You are unbelievable" you groaned, making him snicker. "You know what? You can do the dishes then. I'm gonna go change" "Aw don’t be like that, little dancer", was the last thing you heard before closing the door to your shared bedroom. You quickly changed into your sports Wear and also grabbed a pair of sweatpants and a shirt from Jungkook to give to Jimin, who was sitting at the kitchen counter watching Jungkook do the dishes. "Here, I thought maybe you'd like to dance in something a bit more comfortable" you said, giving the cat the clothes. Jimin quickly thanked you and disappeared in the guest room he was staying in. "So you gonna practice together then?” Jungkook asked, putting away the rest of the dishes into the cabinets. "Yes, it’s been so long since I practiced with someone who also danced for a long time" and you really were excited. Since your parents death you hadn't been taking any more dance lessons from your private teacher. You always wanted to be taught again, but there was so much going on in your life, you didn't feel like dance lessons should be taking over so much time. Instead you practiced what you already knew, sometimes you learned from YouTube videos, but it was hard trying to learn new stuff, when you boyfriend isn't a fan of you overworking yourself. You tried to explain to him, that new moves were hard to learn and that you were used to staying up late to perfect them, but he wasn't having it. Jungkook felt bad about limiting your practice time, but he knew it wasn't healthy to stay in the dance studio for the whole day, practicing the same move on repeat. He tried to tell you, that maybe you should take it slower, leaving new things would take time, but overworking yourself wouldn't to you any good, especially since you still had school work to do. "That’s great, I'm sure you'll be making good progress then" Jungkook said with a bright smile, relieved that someone who knew what they were doing was with you. Jimin would probably say something if he saw, that you were going too hard. Jimin appeared gently, but Jungkook was sure he would be strict and make sure you would take care of yourself. "I actually have something I'd need to do today, meaning I wouldn't be at home till late", Jungkook started making you look up to him confused. "Huh? Where are you going?" "Do you remember that 'Vante' flyer we saw a while back? Remember that I called there and they said they would get back to me? Well they did, just while you were changing, they would like to meet today" A huge smile broke out on your face, and you jumped into Jungkooks arms, who caught you with ease "That’s amazing Kookie. I'm sure they will hire you." A while back, while you went on a walk with Jungkook, you came by a flyer, offering a job as an assistant to 'Vante'. The offer was only for hybrids and when Jungkook read who he could be potentially working for he couldn't stop himself from calling. Vante was apparently a huge underground photographer, who is famous for his pictures capturing social unjust against hybrids or other minorities. You didn't know there was someone who expressed their feelings for the hybrid situation through art and Jungkook explained to you, that he also just heard of him, after hearing other hybrids talk about him. Vante was apparently a big deal in the hybrid community, but no one has ever seen him. This is why it was an even bigger shock that he was looking so openly for an assistant. Most humans don't know about Vante or what goes on in the hybrid community in general and Jungkook explained to you, that you didn't have to feel bad for not knowing him. Since you and Jungkook only really spent time with each other and only leave the house when you have to, you didn't really have any other friends. This was also the reason why Jungkook was so out the loop with everything concerning the hybrid community, he's been with you since you were children and never really met with other hybrids. You often felt bad and told him he should go to the park and try to meet people and that you'd be fine, but he never wanted to. He claimed that you were all the company he needed and while you didn't necessarily believed that, you couldn't bring him to change his mind. But he too was the only company you needed. Still, now that you found out he had the chance to go meet people you were happy for him, especially because you knew, that Jungkook would love to have something to do and not sit around the house the whole day. "You guys gonna be fine without me here?" Jungkook asked, looking at you and then at Jimin who had just stepped out of his room. Both of you rolled your eyes and you were glad wasn't looking at you. "Don't worry Jungkook-ah, we'll survive" said Jimin with a cheeky smile. It wasn't that Jungkook wasn't concerned about leaving you with a stranger in your own home, he was. But something about Jimin made him feel at ease. Yes, Jungkook kinda felt threatened in his position as 'alpha' of the pack, especially because he, a rabbit, let a cat come into his territory. But Jimin didn't appear like he wanted to take you away or destroy the dynamic, it was more like, he wanted to belong. And Jungkook understood that, he too wanted to belong, and it wasn't like you didn't have the space for one more person. It was just the power dynamic that was still undecided between the both of them, but then again, Jimin hadn't even been staying with you for a whole day. Power dynamics still had to wait; maybe Jimin didn't even plan on staying, though Jungkook didn't believe that. Also you and Jimin seemed to get along well, so he trusted his gut on this one. "I should be back around 10pm from what I understood" Jungkook called out to you and Jimin. You quickly rushed to him hugging him tight. You played with the silver chain around his neck that had all the information about him. If hybrids had to go out with a collar, it could at least look good. "Be safe, and text me when you arrive and leave and stuff. I'll prepare dinner for you and if you don't like it you can just come back home yeah? Don't feel like you have to get a job. We don't need the -" Your rambling got interrupted by a set of lips on yours. Jungkook looked at you with soft eyes, a bit amused how much you worried about him, but he knew you meant well. "I'll be just fine, Baby, don't worry okay?” he asked as gently cupped your cheek. "I'll text you, I even have my tracking on, so don't worry. But I have to leave now or I'll be late. Don't forget to eat. Jimin, watch her. See you guys, love you", Jungkook listed to calm you, looking at Jimin while telling him to watch you and then at you, telling you he loved you. You quickly tell him the same before the door falls shut. "He said it like I'm some kid to watch", you playfully pouted, looking at the cat that had watched that whole interaction with an amused smile. "We'll see at the end of the day how much of a pain you are", Jimin said with a laugh. The both of you were in your studio warming up and you enjoyed the fact that Jimin seemed to know what he was doing. Training with Jungkook was always playful, because you explained to him what each stretch was doing and he would whine about his thighs burning, but Jimin wasn't like that. He could match pace and take the stretch as deep as you could. A bit clueless as to how to start you decided both if you would just dance for the other, so you'd know what you could work on together. You explained that you were trained in classical ballet, always had strict teachers and never really learned it another way. Jimin listened and remarked that he'd love to learn a bit more about classical ballet, you then told him, that you started to teach yourself a more contemporary style, but haven't been taught it, which is why you'd probably needed some help there. The hybrids eyes smiled as bright as his mouth when he told you, that he had learned contemporary since he was a child, so he wouldn't have a problem teaching you. You beamed at him, happy that you found a way to dance that made both of you happy. "I'm warning you, I've never taught anyone before", you said while getting ready to start teaching Jimin. The cat looked at you, "What, the bunny doesn't like dancing?" You shake your head, "Jungkook likes dancing, but not the kind I'm able to teach him. He said if he'd dance it had to be modern and I don’t know, he called it street style" Jimin snorted, "Well, I didn't take him as a classical dancer anyway. Should we start?" Teaching Jimin was easier than expected, he easily caught onto what you were trying to say, when you didn't know how to say it. Both of you lost track of time, lost in your own world that was dance. You quickly got reminded of time when your phone started ringing, Jungkook. Taking a few deep breathes you answered, you looked at yourself in the mirror, your top clinging onto you, drenched in sweat, and you haven't trained this hard in quite some time. Your gaze wandered to Jimin who looked as sweaty as you, his hair sticking to his forehead, so he ran a hand through it, exposing his forehead. "Hey Kookie. How is it going?" you asked as you answered, you looked at the time, it was 4pm, Jungkook wouldn't be home in while and you and Jimin have already been dancing for five hours. "I'm on break right now. They are showing me what kind of pictures I would have to take and stuff. It’s really interesting, they also told me I could make videos of I'm more comfortable with that, it just has to have a message", you could feel Jungkooks excitement through the phone and a huge smile took over your features. Your bunny was still so cute when he got excited, even Jimin, who heard the whole conversation, no doubt, was smiling to himself at Jungkooks rambling. "I'm happy you're having fun. What are you doing after your break?", you asked and absently started stretching, bending over while still holding your phone. "Oh they're gonna teach me Photoshop and video editing and how to upload pictures, so they aren't traceable by the police." That line worried you a bit; you looked up and locked eyes with Jimin behind you, who was already looking at you, through the mirror. He was also frowning at Jungkooks words. You knew that that Vante guy was publishing critical pictures to raise awareness, but was it so bad, that the police would get involved? "Don't worry; it's just so they won't know who published it. The police could think that you are part of a radical group and stuff. It's easier to stay anonymous", Jungkook explained, probably feeling your worry and confusion. "Anyways, did you guys eat already? You probably ate an hour ago or so. I can hear your heavy breathing are you still training?" The blood in your veined ran cold. You hadn't eaten, you weren't even planning to before Jungkook called, and you haven't made a break. Jimin seemed to see your panic and quickly jumped in. "Hey let me talk to that punk that didn't use the proper honorifics today." He then grabbed your phone and put it on speaker. You could hear Jungkooks giggles coming through. "Oh I'm sorry Hyung" came Jungkooks reply and Jimin took over before Jungkook could say more. "You didn't tell me that y/n makes such a mean Carbonara, Jungkook-ah. We almost didn't left anything for you", the lies came out so easily, that you would've believed Jimin if you hadn't known better. "Oh really?” Jungkook asked and you could tell he was pleased, thinking you listened and actually ate. There was a sharp pain in your heart and you felt incredibly guilty for lying, because even though you weren't the one speaking, you also weren't interrupting Jimin. "Yes, but don't worry, we left something for you", Jimin send you a cheeky wink, easing your worry a bit. "Alright I'm glad.." there were some background noises, before Jungkooks voice came back. "I just got called to come back, so I'll gotta leave. Maybe I'll meet Vante. Though I probably won't. Maybe if I really start working for him, you know he never shows his face. Anyways. Bye love you. Have fun you guys. Bye Hyung." And with that the line went dead. Jimin mustered you. "Shouldn't I have lied?” he asked, afraid he overstepped. Jimin was here for one day, but he was already so at ease with you, he maybe interpreted too much into your shared love for dance. "No it's not that..  I just hate lying to him." Jimin watched you, "Okay. But.. Did you want to eat?” he asked and you shook your head, eating while practicing didn't help,  especially if you wanted to lose weight while you were at it. "See that's okay. Do you want to eat now?” his voice was soft and lulled you in bubble were you felt comfortable. He was asking if you wanted to eat, not telling you that you should. You shook your head again, even though the thought of Jungkook let you feel guilty, you still didn't want to eat. Jimin smiled, "That's okay and completely normal. I also don't want to eat. How about we eat something later this evening?" "Yeah, that sounds good", you said quietly, Jimins voice was so soft and gently, you didn't want to burst that comfort bubble. Also he told you that it was okay, and he also didn't eat, so how bad was it really? "Then let's eat later. Jungkook doesn't need to know. Let's practice till 8pm, then we can shower and I'll help you make some mean Cabonara. How does that sound?” Jimin smiled at you and you smiled back. "Sounds good." "Okay, and then let me start teaching you, but watch out. I'm a strict teacher." Jimin warned, but that only gave you more motivation. "That's good, I won't learn if you aren't", you answered, not knowing how someone couldn't be strict while teaching. And Jimin was true to his word, pointing out every mistake and making you repeat the move till you perfected it. But you wouldn't want it any other way.

Justin gives an interview to Today Show to dismiss Mariah Yeater’s claims and says he's never even met her:

“I would just like to say that none of those allegations are true.”

“I know I’m going to be a target, but I’m never going to be a victim,” Justin added.

“It’s crazy, because every night after the show I’ve gone right from the stage right to my car. So it’s crazy that some people want to make up such false allegations.”

A statement released by Justin’s publicist on Wednesday said his lawyers had not seen the suit reportedly filed by Yeater, but said:

August 29, 2013 - Dianna steps out with restaurateur Nick Mathers.  

Not sure what to make of this one.  Dianna seems to date two types of men:  1. teeny bopper actors for bearding and pr purposes (it generally seems) and 2. rich businessmen.  Nick is type 2, but their relationship is reported on as if it’s PR.  “Sources” call up gossip sites to fill them in on the relationship and both their projects get plugged along with announcements on them as a couple:

I don’t know if they were more or less legit but she goes out with Taylor five days later...

September 4, 2013 - The Fun! Concert:

Swiftgron’s last pre-Kaylor public sighting - they go to a Fun! concert in LA

It’s just a split instant of video footage but Sarah Hyland uploads this to Vine and it does not look like Dianna is enjoying herself:

Note:  It kind of looks like DIanna has her arm around Taylor’s waist and also the person to the right of Taylor is Selby Drummond who is still friends with DIanna as of writing of this masterpost (December 2020) and who still appears to be a fan of Taylor’s.

Dianna does look miserable but I do think it’s interesting they seem to be making an effort to hang out on the two year anniversary of their public (perhaps private as well) first meeting.

September 6, 2013 - Taylor plays Speak Now as the surprise song on the Red tour.  Interesting given the timing of Dianna and her new boyfriend being public just one week before this.

September 8, 2013 - Taylor plays Sad, Beautiful Tragic for the first time ever live and gives this speech:

"I kind of feel like playing a song I've never ever played live before. This is um a song that I wrote about how you know just because something's over doesn't mean it wasn't incredibly beautiful. Cause another lesson I've learned is not all stories have a happy ending and you have to learn how to deal with that. So this is a song about a story that didn't end so happily but was still supposed to happen. This is called Sad, Beautiful, Tragic."

I don’t think this song was originally written about Dianna but I do think at this time while they stumble through the last phase of their relationship Taylor was inspired to sing it.

October 2013 - Taylor writes I Wish You Would, a song inspired by an ex who had recently bought a house near her driving past her house.  It’s thought to be about Harry but Harry didn’t buy a house in LA until March 2014.  But of course we know Dianna did buy a house near Taylor’s in LA earlier this fall.

November 11, 2013 - The music video for “She’s Just Another Girl” premiers starring Dianna looking stunning in high fashion drag, dressed up as the lead singer, and lip syncing the words to the song:

I think it’s at least possible that Dianna was drawn to this project because the lyrics resonated to her given what she was going through with Taylor at the time.

Dianna posts this picture (now deleted) of her at Emma Stone’s birthday party from 11 months previous:

It’s likely she’s looking at Taylor in this photo who was seated across from her.

It’s a very random picture to post.  It wasn’t titled as a throwback and it wasn’t an exact year after the picture was taken (prompting some kind of happy birthday shout out to Emma Stone or anything) - just a random picture of Dianna smiling, likely at Taylor.

Conclusions - Swiftgron very clearly goes through a rough breakup due to being outed. 

Then they attempt some sort of reconciliation - even hanging out (date night?) on the second anniversary of their Fairfax Flea Market meetcute, but it goes wrong.  

Taylor is on tour for much of this time and Dianna is posting angst ridden and peculiar Instagram posts exactly at the time Taylor meets Karlie.

COBYCOBS UBERHOOD, SEASON 4: “Rebels” Chapter 6: "Hormone Party".

In a hot tub, Mercutio, Joshua, Dustin, and Tank were talking about Paris Wilson.

Mercutio (With a smile and without fear of saying something): And I will record everything on my camera! It will be a memory of that beautiful moment....

Dustin: Bro... you have to be careful, what if you upload it to the internet by mistake or show it to Romeo?

Mercutio: That's why Paris will keep the video!

With Lindsay, Nicole and Rose.

Lindsay (Bored as she looked at everyone): This party is a bit boring... Don't you think we need some music?

Nicole (Shy and whispering to Lindsay): Lindsay... I don't know how to dance...

The dyed-haired girl began to dance, drawing the attention of Tank Grunt, who invited her to Dance.

In the distance came Ekaterina, who was looking for her daughter, until finally finding her.

Ekaterina (Serious): Lindsay, we need to talk.

Lindsay (Dancing with Tank): Can't you see I'm dancing? Don't interrupt me.

Ekaterina (Raising her voice): I don't give a damn if you're dancing or not!!.

Lindsay: Ush... Okay... But don't yell at me in front of everyone.

The two went to discuss in a more private place.

Ekaterina: May I know why you're ignoring me in front of all your classmates?

Lindsay: I did it because your visit annoyed me!!, You always want to be the center of attention!!.

Ekaterina: Honey... I just want to help everyone get to know you, I know you may seem tough, but inside you're just soft!

Lindsay: I don't need help! I'm not a 6 year old anymore!

Ekaterina: I came because I miss you and also because your father told me to come!

Lindsay: I don't miss you! It's a relief for me to have you far away.... Your attitudes bother me, that you want to be the center... and above all, your cheap cat look bothers me, Mom.

At that moment The blonde woman slapped the girl with dyed hair.

Lindsay (Looking defiantly at her mother): The only thing you needed was to hit me... You know what, I'm not going to cry...

Meanwhile with Castor Nova and Ashley Pitts

The two boys were discovered by Sergio, Castor's father, who was bringing some policemen, including the Newson brothers.

Sergio (Angry): Explain this to me Cástor!? I can't believe you've been the victim of a robbery and on top of that you don't have the courage to face the thief!!... Are you an idiot!?

Castor (Head bowed as he glared at Gavin and Gallagher Newson): Dad please... Just arrest them...!

Later.

When the party ended, Heather was looking for some Aloe Vera for a face mask, when she came across a drunk Castor.

Heather: Caster!? What are you doing here?

Beaver (A little drunk): Hic... I'm just havin' fun!! HAHAHAHAHA.

Heather: But... I don't think so, come on, you should rest a lot, tomorrow is the last day of camp...
