well i built a passive adapter for my Wii. spent forever thinking i'd messed up the RGB lines cuz i was getting colour issues but it was just a bent pin in the wii connector -_-
also added a switch on the RGB cable to switch between luma sync and composite video sync for compatibility with more consoles thought i'd need to remove the capacitors on the RGB lines from inside the Wii too because its technically out of spec now but it makes no difference to the picture so lol. saves me a lot of effort. gamecube was a lil more annoying. had to open it up, find the composite line, sever it and then add some components to it:
works perfectly!!
and while i was in there i picoboot'd my GC too :)
that mod is really easy but i've seen so many pictures of dead gamecubes from amateurs trying this mod that i get nervous each time lol N64 works fine too, turns out i'd already modded it for luma sync 😎
i also built some PS1/2/3 RGB cables as a test and they work fine but i'm waiting on some parts so i can make a converter to use the SNES cables with them too. (also wanna make it compatible with my Sega consoles but havent done any research on them yet)
todays silly tech project: i have a PAL Gamecube, an NTSC SNES, a PAL SNES, an RGB modded N64 and a Wii. I want to use the same RGB cable for them all because good quality cables are expensive!! problem: they basically all have completely different schematics (also the Wii connector is different from the previous consoles) solution: mod all the consoles so they can share the same NTSC SNES cable! ... except that'd remove the YPBPR function from my Wii. so uhh mod the cable and then mod the consoles? well now i have to mod the NTSC SNES too. this is a lot of work >[
also theres like.. so little space on the Gamecube motherboard. so i'd need to buy some teeny tiny caps for the RGBV lines
none of this would be hard but it would be annoyingly tedious...
