no but seriously i’ve been thinking lately about why i love hotaru operating in other universes without guardians so much & it’s honestly because outside of the context of their own universe, guardians are TERRIFYING???? you’re telling me there are these resurrected heroes that

>are functionally immortal >cannot die in a way that matters  >will just POP BACK UP unless you SHOOT THEIR GHOSTS and among other things, THEY CAN MAKE BLACK HOLES?????? BECAUSE THAT’S ESSENTIALLY WHAT VOID LIGHT IS ESPECIALLY IN THE CONTEXT OF THE NOVA BOMB SUPER. YOU’RE CHUCKING A BLACK HOLE AT SOMEONE. also guardians are resurrected dead. like, you gotta die to become a guardian.

also THEY JUST. CASUALLY KILL GODS. AND TURN THEM INTO GUNS. CANONICALLY, FOR FUN. the crucible is literally a team of two guardians competing to see who can murderize each other more & in their universe, it’s basically the football of the last city. 

it’s also just really funny because arc light wouldn’t be the weirdest thing in other universes, there are lightning based superpowers because lightning is, imo, the coolest superpower. but MOST OF THEM don’t just GET BACK UP after you kick their shit in like GUARDIANS DO. 

not to mention that even the way hotaru moves is just... there’s something strange about it, how easily she floats, zips, and even seems to disappear from one spot before reappearing right next to you. when she walks on the ground, there’s still no real “weight” to it, like she could take off at any moment, or disappear entirely. guardians my strangely ethereal and funky beloveds <3
