There is no catharsis like turning in a paper at 2am that is actually something you're kind of proud of writing
#yes this is that paper about three houses i wrote for my romance of the three kingdoms class#yes i know i wrote a whole paper about weeb chess#did that stop me from writing 9 whole pages of character analysis with references? absolutely not#if video games want to take themselves seriously as a medium then they need to be treated seriously by academics#also three kingdoms is way more problematic. liu bei threw his infant son on the ground once bc his general saved him#and in doing so endangered his life yadda yadda#he also ate part of this guys wife once. it wasnt his fault but still#when liu bei found out what hed done he was just like 'aw beans! maybe next time i wont eat a guys wife'#fuckin despise that guy. zhang fei makes a much more compelling protagonist for a modern audience#because hes a jackass hothead with a heart of gold. liu bei just knows when to cry to make people think hes righteous or whatever#guan yu is boring. cao cao is boring too. zhuge liang is the hottest bitch in this book so obviously id rather follow him#but spoilers!!!! the book ends when zhuge liang dies!!! bc liu beis son is so incompetent from when he got dropped on his head#something something something and then the eastern han fell because its leader had a tbi and cao caos son ended up on top.#im kind of cool with wei winning the war bc at least cao cao and cao pi were both bang up poets#and jianan period poetry hits different. less whimsical than tang dynasty poetry#it almost reads like propaganda??? but like it works. so#very fun very cool. they all wrote about getting fucked up every night#jianan was this period of just abject wealth for the ruling class so they just partied and wrote poetry about partying all day#hedonism to the max i guess. good for them#meredith talks
