about the good doggy post: oh yeah :/ it’s the coloring. it’s not the coloring i usually use (it’s not even mine) and that scene is sooooo damn hard to color ): the problem is, well, first of all, that scene is impossible to color xD the other is that my coloring (which most of the times doesn’t whitewash characters) just doesn’t work in that scene, sigh T____T which is kinda odd because when i did an 8-gifset (245px x 138px), the coloring worked fine, but when i did a 4-gifset (245px x 245px) it looked terrible?????? maybe the crop changed the scene’s original colors? idk i srsly have no idea of what happened. so i had to use another coloring. and the coloring i used is a pastel pink, and since emeraude is poc, the coloring turned every yellow and red tone into pink, so it looks a little whitewashed, yes, but also pinky… ugh i tried my best not to whitewash her and that was the closer i got to her skin tone. also, that coloring was the only one that worked for it. i’m so sorry, truly ;____;

(i’m assuming it’s the first one so) can you believe i used the EXACT SAME COLORING?????????? i hadn’t realized how different it was until you told me D: i swear to god i LITERALLY opened my psd file of the gifs from the gifset, found the one for the same scene and dragged the coloring to the one i was doing??????? i had once noticed my 4-gifsets were a bit different from my 8-gifsets when i giffed the same scene, but since i don’t gif izzy that much and most of my gifs are clary, the skin tone had never gotten my attention to this .-. i srsly have no idea why this happens… maybe cropping really does change the scene colors????? idk, it doesn’t make any sense…

btw sometimes i spend so much time on a gifset (i have already spent a whole week in a gifset tbqh :/), and some gifs are made overnight, when i’m really tired and sleepy, and my eyes may not see colors properly, so i might not see when i whitewash something or when something gets too yellow, you know? and depending on the work i’d have to fix, i would spend a lot of time again, and i’m really busy with studies and stuff, sometimes i just don’t have the time :/

anyway, when you first sent me this tip, i went through my gifsets to see if i whitewashed her in every gif and i noticed that some scene sequences have different lightings. like, using this one as an example, do you realize that in the 2nd, 3rd and 6th gifs her skin tone is different from each other? i used the same coloring, as unbelievable this might be… and the gifs are all from the same scene sequence, which makes it even harder to have so many different coloring results. it was filmed in the same location, eme was using the same makeup, i mean, it shouldn’t be this different… so i figured it must be the lighting. maybe they used a too bright/white light on her face and the production/filming itself whitewashed her :/

i’m not saying i didn’t whitewash her, i did once - my bad ): -, but sometimes the camera/light did that already and there’s not much i can do to give her skin tone back :/ and trust me, there’s nothing that bothers me more than having to correct someone’s skin colors because of the coloring i’m using or the lighting of the scene. tbqh, some colorings and/or some lightings can completely change a skin tone and it’s IMPOSSIBLE to correct that. i’ll comment some examples so you can understand what i’m talking about xD (if you haven’t used photoshop like ever, you probably won’t understand much, but i’ll try my best so you can get it

2nd gif: originally, the scene was in some kind of sewers of the institute, so it was very dark and very green. i’m not a big fan of green for gifs, so i always change it to blue, so it’s easier to change to another color. in this gif tho i went for blue… but since green is not only green but it’s also a bit yellowish (and when the scene is dark, the green is more to a yellow than green - like a yellowish green), her skin tone got a bit blue. i tried correcting that by making her skin less yellow and more pink, but still, there were some pixels that couldn’t be changed to pink and when i changed the green parts, i had to alter the yellow section in the selective color layer (a photoshop tool), so unfortunately it affected some pixels of her face and arms ): i always try everything i can, and most of the times i spend a whole afternoon trying to correct things like that, but i don’t succeed every time T____T)

9th gif: ok uhm first of all CONFESSION TIME xD this gif was my personal hell. i spent LITERALLY like 3 days trying to correct her skin tone. SATAN MESSED HER SKIN TONE, I’M NOT KIDDING lol that scene is so blueish/greenish (idek what color that is lmfao), i had to change the colors of THE WHOLE SCENE so i could correct it. no coloring worked, and i wanted to use mine, there was that too. also, i wanted some things very specific - the thing she was runing on had to be purple, the rune had to be orange/yellow or pink, and there had to be some blue in the scene too bc i’m that much of a bummer to myself and photoshop never cooperates with me… srsly, i made clary’s hair go pink, then yellow, then fixed it to orange. her skin went from blue/green to red, then yellow, until i finally came with a believable skin color. but if you look closely, you can still see some green, purple, red and yellow pixels WHICH BOTHERS ME SO FUCKING MUCH. i mentally prepared myself to post that gifset for like 2 days, like ‘people are not dumb they’ll notice those pixels like i’m noticing and it’ll be frustrating oh god’ but i was so proud of that gifset, i wanted to post it so badly, and i wanted that scene to be a part of the gifset so much i was like ‘fuck this’ lmfao also those who gif and tried to gif that scene know wanting to make it colorful and pretty is like asking satan to punch you in the face with a spike and then throw acid at you so i thought they would be like ‘this girl tried hard and even tho she failed miserably well let’s give her some thumbs up for her hard ok and courage’ xD ok you can see i hate everyone who decided that scene to be dark and blue/green lmfao (here goes a screencapture so you see the true colors of the scene with no coloring on)

anyway, i’m just telling you this whole thing because i’m so sorry i disappointed you and i wanted you to know that i never whitewash poc on purpose and that i always try the bestest i can so that doesn’t happen, and every time that does, you can be 100% sure it was an accident (because i didn’t notice it) or it was the closest i got to her skin tone and there’s not much i can do about that ):
