I love plotting out worldbuilding! Which is why I keep giving myself such big jobs. Current question is how a family of magic users keeps themselves hidden for 2000 odd years while still using their magic to cleanse the magical plague and keeping their family archives/history remembered? The answer is that the town they live in loves them a lot. They love their magic weirdoes who go to incredible lengths to keep them and others safe! Yes the town is more or less built around the weirdoes houses and their magic cave system archive but also they’re just good, if weird people.

#The Salus family is what you get if you take the Lucis Caelums and tell them that the only thing they have to do in order to not be #Y’know put in charge? Is to stay hidden and keep going about their daily lives #also they keep journals! Which is a whole thing involving magic imprints #the LC’s have their uhhh soul trapping ring of the luci #the Salus’ have their journals that they pour their heart into over the years #and once they’re gone and the book is interred in the archive with the others #they can be prodded in just a way magically that a ghost/shade of who wrote it can be seen #depending on how it’s prodded #some write more than one and so can be seen over time #some write only one so you see them as they saw themselves at the end #they’re not sentient like the lucii #but they don’t have to be #their words are right there #the Salus don’t trap their family’s souls in a rock in preparation for a prophecy #they move on. And the rest keep eroding at what the prophecy fortells #in this timeline the starscourge is reduced enough that daemons are rare #just by the thousands of this family going out of their way to heal. To scour it out #and no one knows because they don’t advertise it #This is all well and good until about the 11th hour before the prophecy when a minor astral or messenger #Phoenix the firebird. Origin of Phoenix downs #decides to tip the scales a bit in favor of ‘the offspring of the accursed’#as Bahamut calls them anyway #oh dear lord I wrote an essay in these tags #Pinna Salus Caelum
