God I wish I could believe that the album is ironic and stuff but I just know it isn't

It very much builds on the cringe and missteps from before. Its just like she's lost all self awareness

The cringe is HER not the way MH is cringey. I think some of the people insisting its ironic and self aware are just in denial about it

she's not cringe in the way matty healy is cringe bc matty healy's "funny" "cringe" "dark humour" is just saying genuinely stupid or offensive things in hopes of being funny and when he gets backlash he hides behind the excuse of it being "satire" or whatever.

taylor swift has done a lot of things that deserve criticism but i genuinely believe that this album is at least 90% satire and seeing people call her all kinds of things just annoys me, she can never do ANYTHING without people criticising her and having opinions and either taking her too seriously or not taking her seriously at all - which she even adresses in many of her songs.

idk, i feel like if some of these songs were released by phoebe bridgers or lucy dacus - or even matty healy!!!! a lot of people who are critising taylor would be ALL OVER THEM and the hypocrisy is just annoying, especially since taylor is good friends with phoebe and lucy and haim and a lot of other "cool" artists who lowkey would call themselved tortured poets unironically and no one would even bat an eye. i don't think they would tolerate her if she really was as out of touch as people think
