ppl: knitting stockinette will make your project's sides curl up because of the vertical and horizontal tension so be sure to add a garter stitch border to avoid this!

also me: does a stockinette gauge swatch on 6.5mm needles with aran yarn instead of 5mm needles for funsies and it doesn't curl up. holy shit... who knew using bigger needles, thus increasing the space between the stitches and loosening them, would prevent curling. science...... i am a woman in stem! bunsen burner!
