Hey how was your wedding? Hope it was fun and you had good food. I wanted to give you an update on the chicken I was having problems with. I wont mince words, you saved her life. I honestly didn't think she would pull through but that medicine you suggested really did the trick. Here's a pic of her just chilling in the backyard with a wild rabbit.
Tumblr media
Do you have any good advice about how to deal with bully chickens tho? If I put her back with the flock she'll just get attacked again. Im thinking about trying chicken blinders.
Oh my gosh, I'm so so happy she pulled through!!! 😍 That Poultry Cel is a miracle worker; I had a chicken with a respiratory issue a couple of weeks ago and with some Amoxicillin and Poultry Cel, she went from gasping for air with a dark purple comb to being her cute little perky self with a bright red comb again in no time ❤️ but she's adorable and what an awesome picture! 🥰 We have rabbits that hang around our barn but I've never seen a wild rabbit just sploot like that out in the open; that's so awesome!!! They're just loving that spring sun 🌞
My wedding isn't actually for 3 more weeks, so unfortunately I still have to be anxious for a bit longer but it's really coming together and I'm also very excited! It's on Star Wars day, May 4th, so we're going all in on space and star wars themed decor, and we're still trying to settle on food but I'm hoping everybody's gonna like it 😅
As far as the bully chicken goes, what I did when I reintroduced the hen that had surgery was I took the chicken that was really going after her and put her in the quarantine pen (I kept just a little bit of the old bedding for this) for a couple of days so she'd get used to the scent of the "new" chicken, plus it also disrupted the pecking order a bit and confused the flock and therefore kept them fairly peaceful towards each other. The other girls did a little bit of reestablishing but none of them were anywhere near as aggressive as my dominant hen. Some pecking is fine and normal, of course, but if you have girls jumping on or at her and really viciously attacking then that quickly becomes a very dangerous situation, as I'm sure you're all too familiar with. Anyway, after a couple of days I put her back in and all was well 🤷🏼‍♀️ chicken blinders would be a good idea, especially if you have multiple bully hens; I'd honestly never heard of them!
Thank you so much for the update; I'm so very very glad I could help and that you get more time with your sweet little fluffbutt ❤️ I wish you the best of luck in reintroducing her to the flock!!
Edit: forgot to mention the aggressive hen I removed was head of the pecking order, and since I don't have roosters she is the main protector of the flock which doesn't help with the aggression. That's also why the pecking order was disrupted; without a leader the other girls didn't really have a clue what was going on and I think the confusion led to a more peaceful transition. I think I kept her in the quarantine pen for 2-3 days, so she was still head honcho when she got back, lol! I believe I have a bigger flock (around 50, give or take), though, so I don't know how that would translate to a smaller flock.

——————————————————————————
The rest of my first day working in Aston went much better than I had initially expected. We only had a few minor injuries so I spent most of my time just going through all the players files, mainly looking over their medical history and current rehabilitation plans. That being said, I found it so hard to concentrate as the only thing I could think about throughout the entirety of it was Jack’s words. They were etched on my mind like the winner of a tournaments name being engraved on a trophy. I was extremely thankful Alan had came back into the room when he did, because I really had no idea how to respond to Jack’s comment and to be quite honest, I wasn’t really sure I wanted to.
Now arriving back at Bodymoor Heath training grounds for what was going to be my second day, I tried my best to find a parking space. Spotting one, I positioned my car and took the keys out of the ignition. Just as I was grabbing my things so as that I could make my way into work, I noticed a familiar face walking across the car park and quickly ducked my head so that he wouldn’t see me. But he did. And instead of walking towards the building’s entrance, Jack Grealish was now headed towards my car.
He lightly tapped the window as I pretended to look for something. Giving me space to open the door he quickly stepped away. My heart was nearly beating out of my chest. What did he want? I’ll tell you what I wanted. I wanted to avoid him as much as possible so I wasn’t put in another awkward situation with him, but he really wasn’t making it at all easy. Stepping out and closing the door behind me, he began walking beside me.
“So how’s my girl Ella this fine morning?” he asked, his eyes watching me every step I took.
“Your girl?” I questioned back in a slightly nervy manner, trying to speed up.
“Come on, you know what I mean.” he teased, a smirk now spreading across his face.
“Uh no actually I don’t, because we’re not friends Jack.” I sighed, attempting to pull the door of the premises open but he had got there before me and was now holding it out wide for me.
“Oh really?” he raised his eyebrows in response. “What are we then?”. I hated to admit it, but his accent was honestly so damn attractive too, though I wanted to believe I only thought so because I had watched too much peaky blinders and he reminded me of Tommy Shelby. Standing in front of me and stopping me in my tracks to prevent me from moving any further, I gave him one of those ‘seriously?’ glares.
“Nothing.” I stated. “We’re just work colleagues. That’s it. Just two professionals getting on with their morning, or at least I’m trying to but someone is in the way.” His reaction was comical. Lightly scoffing with a small chuckle, he took a step closer to me, almost closing the distance between us. I was shaking like a leaf internally. He honestly made me so nervous, as if my anxiety didn’t already do a good enough job of that. I gulped as he parted his lips and got the final word in.
“Maybe.” he began. “But I’m hoping to change that sometime soon.” Giving me a smug wink, he moved out of the way and began walking down the corridor the opposite way. I stood there for a few seconds, which felt more like minutes, trying to process what he had just said. He was a very attractive man, and there was no denying it. But was he actually being serious? Only my second day here, and he’s already hitting on me like I’m a piece of fresh meat. Was this what he done with every new girl that started working here? And how many other females in the vicinity was he currently doing this with? Did he just think every girl would fall at his knees and give him what he wanted? And what made him assume I would? Or that I even wanted to? Feeling slightly nauseous at all thoughts and questions now racing through my mind, I shook my head and made my way to my section of the workplace.
A few hours had gone by of assessing more injuries and whatnot, and before I knew it, it was now lunchtime. Making my way to the canteen, a friendly face appeared beside me, this time being one I was more than happy to see. It was midfielder John McGinn, who I had had in the clinic earlier on that morning. He and I maintained a good conversation about various different things, mainly about Ireland and Scotland’s relationship. Now holding the door open for me, he perked up.
“Hello.” he smiled softly.
“Oh John, hi, everything alright?” I beamed back at him.
“Aye yeah no a wis just wondering if you wanted tae come have lunch with me since your friend isn’t in today and you probably don’t want to sit with Alan and stuff?” he asked with a strong Scottish accent and a hopeful look on his face. He was referring to Samantha, the girl I had met yesterday who worked as a nutritionalist. She had told me how happy she was to have a female the same age as her working at the grounds to and offered for me to come sit with her at lunch, to which I accepted but she had took a sick day today meaning I would probably have to sit and have lunch by myself.
“Oh okay, yeah.” I replied, “Thank you, that would be nice.”
The little grin that spread across his face as he opened the canteen door for me was the cutest. “Great, no problem.” he responded as I began to enter the large dining hall. We made our way over to the food court to get something to eat. Joking and laughing, I was caught in my tracks by a very serious looking Jack, who was now staring at us from where he was seated at one of the tables. Ignoring him, I diverted my attention back to the lunch lady who was placing my vegetarian lasagne back on my tray.
“Oh, sorry thank you.” I said, expressing my gratitude and moving on to get a drink at the end of the counter.
“Vegetarian huh?,” John raised his eyebrows at me.
“Umm yeah aha, I kinda have been for the past seven years or so.” I chuckled.
“Kinda? Whit ya mean by kinda?” He questioned.
“Well.” I began. “I eat chicken, but I don’t eat any other meat or poultry.” Giving me the biggest look of judgement he could muster up, he began to crack up. “No way! Are you serious?
“Yeah, I know I know. It’s a bit of a weird one to be honest but it is what it is.” I muttered shyly.
“Naw naw, each to their own am no saying anything. But isn’t there a name for that itself?” he queried.
“Yeah pollotarian, but everytime I say that everyone tells me it’s not at real thing and I’m a nutcase and stuff. Besides, a pollotarian is supposed to eat all poultry and I don’t.” I answered, as we sat down at a free table.
“Aye well a canny say a dinnae agree with them.” he teased as the two of us broke out laughing. John was so sweet and wasn’t unattractive either, but even when it came to him I wanted to remain strictly professional. Jack’s eyes were still fixated on us with what I could only assume was jealousy and envy growing in them. Having enough, I watched as he forcefully stood up out of his chair and walked away out of sight.
“What’s his deal?” I asked John who now had a forkful of spaghetti in his mouth. “Who? Grealish?” he replied as soon as he had swallowed it. Nodding anxiously, he rolled his eyes and giggled again. “Ah, Jacky-boy, whit can a say? Serious baller, great hair, great legs. But a flirt and a wee heartbreaker anaw.”
“Oh really, how so?..” I lamented.
“Ah, it’s no really for me to say sorry darlin, but am sure one of his previous conquests could fill you in if your paths cross. He’s no a bad guy, just done some silly things if you get me? How come you’re asking anyways?” he interrogated, nudging me with his elbow.
“Oh I was just wondering..” I trailed off.
“Naw, no way. Has he already tried tae make a move on you?”, an amused look now appearing on his face.
“Not exactly, but I think he’s planning to try to.”
“Aye right a see. Well, word to they wise, as much as a love Jack, if you’re looking for something serious, he’s no the way to go about getting it. A wid focus on your work if a were you.”
To indicate that I understood, I nodded slowly. But why did part of me also feel slightly disheartened and disappointed? I kept trying to remind myself that Jack Grealish was the ultimate no go; not only because I had only started working here and I wanted to keep everything strictly professional, but also because I don’t think I could every forgive myself, let alone my country or the world if they knew. He was supposed to be the enemy. Well, not so much the enemy, but the traitor and rival. However, there was just something about him that made me want to do so many things that I know shouldn’t.
After finishing lunch, I said goodbye to John and set about returning to the clinic. As I exited the canteen door, I felt an arm grab me and pull me into an empty office. Struggling to make out who it was initially, the smell of cologne mixed with sweat that was becoming overly-familiar helped me to quickly register.

8 with Bonnie for the kiss prompt if you're taking request! 💜
Sweet - Bonnie Gold
Main Masterlist // Peaky Blinders Masterlist
Tumblr media
Summary: Y/N and Bonnie have a night it away from the boxing and the drama. While they share some surprises they have for each other.
AN: Hope you like @peakyrogers
Pairing: Bonnie Gold x Female!Reader
Warnings: Just pure fluff
Y/N and Bonnie always had free time at night. He always came home right before dinner because of his training. Y/N didn’t mind since he loved boxing and she wanted to support his descions like he did with her.
Y/N would go to the ring when he was practicing sometimes but rarely does because she knows that she distracts him sometimes. But she would always go to his matches to cheer him on. No one could convince her to not go to one of his matches, even Bonnie.
They met when they were only young and he was the one who asked her out when they were 14. Of course Y/N said yes to the date since she has had a crush on him ever since they were little. The first time they kissed was when they were under the stars after their second date and it was pretty awkward since no one knew what they were doing.
Y/N that night had surprise for him that night and he had surprise for her as well.
They had a house for each other but they frequently visited his vardo since they both didn’t like staying in one place for to long.
But tonight Y/N and Bonnie are staying at their house since Bonnie was going to get home earlier to have a romantic night with Y/N which she didn’t mind.
She got the dinner ready they were having mash potatoes with some chicken and vegetables. She got some chocolate cake for desert since she was really start to crave it. She had Polly over to help with the dinner since Y/N wasn’t a 5 star chef.
Polly left after they got the chicken started and she made sure Y/N knew what she was doing before she left.
While the food was cooking Y/N was starting to get excited since her and Bonnie only got some alone time at night in bed and in the morning. While in her daze, Y/N didn’t notice the food beeping but when she did she sprung into action taking the chicken out and waving the air to get some of the smoke out. The only damage was that chicken was a little more burnt than she wanted it to be.
She was getting the table ready when Bonnie came through the door and notice the smell of the smoke and started to get worried about her. But when he entered the kitchen he found her setting the food.
“Love why does it smell like smoke in here,” She heard Bonnie asked which made her jump since she hadn’t notice him come through the door.
“I almost burnt the chicken,” Y/N murmured slightly embarrassed. “But don’t worry its only a bit burnt and still edible,” She reassured him after noticing the look on his face.
“I wasn’t worried about that Dove I was worried about you,” Bonnie came over and told her with a smile on his face and then kissed her forehead. “I got a surprise for you tonight,” He grinned which made Y/N blush a bit.
“Me too actually,” She giggled with a smile on her face and set the plate right in front of where he was sitting.
“Well that’s a coincidence,” Bonnie teased with a smirk on his face as he squeezed her hand as she put it on his shoulder. “Well I know that my surprise is better,” Bonnie quipped with a smile on his face a she got the food on their plates.
“Hmm I dont think so darling mine is probably the most surprising,” Y/N chuckled at her boyfriend. He couldn’t possibly have a better surprise for her.
The two lovers began to eat talking about their days. Bonnie explained some stuff that went on in the boxing area and Y/N told Bonnie that Polly and Ada came over and Polly helped with the dinner while Ada left. When The Golds became allies of the Peaky Blinders Y/N started to hang around with Polly and Ada since they seemed like good company. Polly was also around the vardo when Y/N was since Aberama was there. They had met through them to be exact.
The dinner was filled with laughs of joy and they haven’t even gotten to their surprises yet.
Once the dinner was over Y/N got the cake out and put it on a new plate since the ones they just used were dirty.
“Is this the surprise if it is I have to say mine is better,” Bonnie joked around with a laugh. Y/N rolled her eyes teasingly at him.
“As a matter of fact this isn’t the surprise,” Y/N corrected with a smile on her face as she sat down a began digging into her cake. It surprised Bonnie since she usually didn’t eat this much.
“Did you eat anything today,” Bonnie asked with a confused tone in his voice.
“Yes why,” Y/N questioned while looking up at him with her mouth filled with cake.
“Well it looks like you haven’t even eaten in years Dove,” Bonnie answered her question.
“Oh well you know I’m just very hungry today,” Y/N said while letting out a nervous laugh with a nervous smile as well as she prodded her food with her fork.
“Okay,” Bonnie sighed still confused by the whole situation.
“Ooo yay,” Y/N cheered with a smile on her face which Bonnie thought was gorgeous, and then Y/N got an idea. “Hey how ‘bout this we both say our surprises at the same time,” She grinned as she felt excitement rush through her veins as she jumped a bit.
“Of course dove,” Bonnie smiled at her excitedness. “Ok at the count of three. 1,2,3,” He counted.
“I’m pregnant,” “Marry me” They both announced at the same time as both of their surprises surprised each other.
“Wait you’re p-pregnant how’d that happen,” Bonnie stuttered a bit as he began to feel a bit nervous.
“Bonnie I’m pretty sure you know what happens between us,” Y/N teased with a smile on her face as she motioned her hand between them. “Are you happy about it,” She faltered a bit.
“Of course I am Dove I was just really surprised,” Bonnie reassured her while bringing her chair closer to his and put his hands on her cheeks feeling the warmth on them. “How’d you find out,” He asked with a curious look on his face.
“Well it was few days ago when Polly Gray grabbed one of my tits and told me I was pregnant I then went to the doctors to see if it was true,” Y/N explained with a smile on her face the whole time she was explaining.
“You don’t know how happy I am Love,” Bonnie whispered against her lips.
She brought her lips to his and began kissing him. She wrapped her hands around his neck playing with the hair on the back of his head. As they continued to kiss Bonnie could taste the chocolate on in her mouth which made him smile into the kiss
“You taste like chocolate,” Bonnie whispered against her lips as they separated. Y/N giggled against feeling happy.
“Yes,” Y/N grinned with a huge smile on her face.
“Yes what?” Bonnie questioned with a confused look on his face.
“Yes I’ll marry you.”

Michael Gray x Reader/ Peaky Blinders x Reader
Master list - https://michaelgrayyy.tumblr.com/masterlist
After the events at the distillery were settled Tommy invited everyone over for a meal at his grand house, you were relieved knowing it was over with the Italians. But it was still at the expense of losing John and in a way losing Michael as well, you knew he’d never be welcomed back home again by Tommy. You sit around with the others, you sit talking to Bonnie about his fight not being able to see him to congratulate him with everything that had gone on. The rest all talk amongst themselves, before Tommy shouts for you all to listen.
“Right. Oi! Listen up. Before we all go and eat, I'd like to say a few words. The last time we were all here, it ended badly.” Tommy says looking over at you. “But now we’re in a happier place. That’s it.” he says with a small smirk. “I’d just like to raise a toast” he says as you all raise your glasses.
“Hold on. Few words I’d like to say from the heart, and this time you’re going to let me finish, Tommy” Arthur says getting up to stand as he speaks. “Now as you all know, Arthur Shelby is dead. Because of that, Tommy’s offered me a way out. A new identity.” you look over at Tommy trying to read his thoughts as Arthur rattles on. “Start a whole new life for myself and I've thought about it. I’ve made a decision. I ain’t going fucking nowhere” he finishes gaining cheers and laughs from the room. You raise your eyebrows at Tommy earning you a smirk from him. “Now our enemies are gone. Dead, all of ‘em. For the first time since me and my two kid brothers, Tommy and John enlisted in the Warwickshire Yeomanry, we have peace. So, I think I’d like to make a proposal. All of you, The Shelby Company Limited, insist that Tommy here takes some time off. It’s time you took a holiday, Tom. Put your feet up. War is over. No-one wants to kill us. To peace” Arthur finishes and you look over at Tommy silently holding his glass. Knowing Tommy doesn’t know how to rest or take a holiday. They all cheers and you all get up heading into have food. You stay the night, spending some time with Charlie in the morning the next day. Tommy comes to see you off as you leave just after lunch.
“Whereto” Tommy asks as you walk down the step of the house with him. You debate lying to him but know he'll find out anyway. You both stop halfway down the steps.
“New York, going to visit Michael” you reply honestly, he raises his eyebrows with a knowing smirk and you almost roll your eyes but refrain.
“Just visiting?” he asks not believing you’ll come back.
“Yes, just visiting. Then home, not too far from here”
“That mean you’ll come to visit?” he asks
“If you’ll have me” you reply with a smile and he smiles nodding as you both carry on walking again.
“Charlie would like that” he replies. “You going to be safe in New York? Dangerous to be travelling alone” he adds
“I’m not going alone” you say. “Isiah is coming with me” you say and he nods looking a bit more relieved, but only slightly seeing as you travelling with a young black man wasn't going to help you blend in any better. But, you trusted Isiah and you knew he’d look after you, and he was Michaels friend at one point.
“Stay safe” he urges and you lean over giving him a kiss on the cheek before walking down the rest of the way to the car, the driver holding the door open for you as Tommy walks down to tell the driver where to take you, he also hands you some money which you try to decline but he insists, for your journey.
Tommy being Tommy ends up pulling a few strings and upgrading your seats on the train and on the ferry. You get disapproving looks from people around you as you travel with Isiah but you pay them no attention not giving them the time of day, it takes Isiah a bit more self control but you manage to convince him they aren’t worth his energy. It took days travelling to America and you were glad you asked Isiah to accompany you as he kept you entertained during the long ours and was your drinking buddy when all else failed, he also shared a cabin with you both agreeing it would be safer and he was respectful to give you your own space. After days of travelling on the ferry, you made it to land only to be boarding a train headed for New York.
Finally, after days that felt like forever you arrive, New York, a driver is waiting for you at the station. Isiah laughs at you as you travel through the city, head practically glued to the window looking out in amazement. The driver pulls over telling you this is it and you step out as Isiah gets your case and his own, you look up at the apartment block in excitement. You grab your case off Isiah much to his protest before you both head in, you go to the lift both getting in and as you climb the floors your start to nibble your lip nervously. Isiah elbows you in the side, luckily your ribs had healed by now.
“Stop it. It’ll be fine” he reassures you seeing your nervous fidgeting. You reach the floor and open the lift door but you don’t step out, again with a shove from Isiah you step forward and head to the door. Isiah knows where this is heading and beats you to the door giving two quick knocks, you send him a scolding look and he smirks before you are interrupted by the door opening. You are greeted with the sight of Michael opening the door in a grey suited and it suddenly hits you that this may be the best bad idea you’ve ever had. He steps aside letting you both in, he gives Isiah a brotherly hug before turning to you and embracing you, you both hold on a bit longer until Isiah clears his throat and you both pull away avoiding eye contact. Leaving your cases by the door Michael leads you both over to a table before he grabs drinks for you both, pouring you a gin and a whisky for himself and Isiah. You notice the cane leaning by the door as he walks round to sit down beside you with only a slight limp.
“So, how are we?” he asks leaning back in his chair whisky in hand and you smirk at him.
“We beat the Italians” you reply with a shrug as if it was easy and he nods chuckling, you carry on. “ Arthurs alive” you add and he sits up in surprise.
“Fucking hell” he sighs taking a drink, you loved that Polly left that out when she called him to tell him of you visit. Which reminds you, you look around the room locating the phone.
“Can I quickly call and tell Tom I'm alive” you ask motioning to the phone, he nods and you get up walking over. Isiah gets up asking where to put the cases, he takes his case into the first spare room and leaves your case outside the door of the second. You dial the number for Shelby limited trying to guess the time difference but when no one answers you dial Tommy’s home phone.
“Hello?” you hear him respond and you let out a sigh of relief.
“Tom, its me”
“Y/n, are you okay?”
“I just wanted to call to let you know I got here okay” you hear him let out a deep sigh. “You okay, Tommy?”
“How long are you staying?” he asks avoiding your question.
“I don’t know yet. What time is it there?”
“Just after midnight” he replies and you nod looking over to Michael, you can see he’s listening but he’s trying to pretend he isn’t.
“Still can’t sleep” you say, not asking knowing he’ll never be able to just close his eyes. “When you taking that holiday Arthur talked about?” you ask and you hear a little tired chuckle on the other end.
“I bought a horse today. Just like the mare you used to ride when you were younger, thought you could go out with Charlie when you get back” he says and you know its his way of trying to convince you to come home.
“I am coming back” you insist knowing what he’s thinking, he doesn’t reply for a moment and you wonder if he’s left.
“Stay safe, y/n” he says sounding worn out.
“Get some rest, Tom” you reply putting the phone down, just as Isiah walks back out the door wearing a new suit. “Where are you going?”
“Downstairs for a drink, you two can catch up.” he shrugs heading towards the door. You got to protest worrying about him going out on his own but Michael cuts you off.
“Two men down the hall, take them with you” he says and Isiah nods walking out the door. The door shuts, leading to silence in the room, you look over at Michael chewing your lip. “You look better, not needing the cane as much” you say breaking the silence and walking over to sit back down, he follows sitting back down with you nodding.
“You all healed?” you nod at his question. “How is everyone?”
“Everyone’s....okay. I’m moving back to the village, not far from Tommy and Charlie, staying close to your mum. Arthur’s raising some chickens, Finn’s still getting up to trouble and Ada’s moved back to her home. Oh, Lizzie’s expecting, with Tommy. Your mum says its a girl. So god help us all. How are you, Michael?” He laughs when you tell him the news of a new Shelby
“I was missing Small Heath, but you’re here now” he says, the smooth git. You blush looking away from him to take a drink, you look back up at him to see him intently watching you and you get up to walk over to the window. You can feel the tension in the room as the mood shifts between you both.
“It’s not the same without you there” you say looking out the window not trusting yourself to look at him, but you hear him stand up walking over to you. He doesn’t say anything but you sense him moving closer. “He’ll never let you back, you know” you say still facing the window. You turn around coming face to face with Michael, he doesn’t say anything just takes your glass of gin of you putting it on the window sill beside you. You got to speak again but he with one swift move he pulls you closer covering your lips with his own, you instantly melt into the kiss. Neither of you having to worry about injuries as he backs you up against the wall deepening the kiss, he wastes no time getting rid of your blouse as you untie his tie and he shrugs off his jacket as you work on his shirt and waistcoat, meanwhile you both keep reconnecting your lips at any chance you get. He grips onto you, lips now on your neck as he backs up bringing you with him, his back hits his bedroom door as he fumbles for the doorknob. Opening the door, he spins you both so he's now backing you up, he backs you over to the bed throwing you on it. His hands instantly go to his belt quickly removing his trousers before he turns his attention to you sprawled out on the bed, still wearing your tights and pencil dress. He unzips the skirt tugging it down you legs, taking the tights with them. You hear them hit the floor and look up to him stood across from you, his chest is beating enough for you to see as you look at his bare barechest, the only noise that fills the room is the ragged breathing of you both as you take each other in. He pulls his boxers down before climbing into the bed, hovering over you, the room soon filled with new sounds.
You open your eyes squinting at the light coming through the window, you rub your eyes and Michael stirs beside you.
“Mornin’.” he mumbles and the events of last night come back to you and your cheeks heat up. You sit up covering yourself with the sheets looking at the scattered clothes on the floor and over at the desk where all the papers are now on the floor, after you and Michael decided to change up locations on your third round. You throw yourself back to lie down on the bed covering your face as you groan, Michael chuckles beside you and you feel the bed shaking. A knock on the door startles you before Isiah calls through, telling Michael there’s someone on the phone for him. You hide your face in Michael’s side from further embarrassment when Isiah adds a ‘morning y/n’ on the end of his sentence, you feel Michael’s chest vibrate again and whack his chest. He uncovers your face giving you a quick peck to the lips before getting out of bed grabbing a nearby robe to cover himself. You call out too Isiah to go back in his room and hear the door shut before you creep out, sheets still wrapped around you tightly as you grab your case and run into your own room mortified.

Y/n fidget with her fingers nervously. She waited there, on the doorstep to the Shelby home. Thomas was inside with his family, and she was outside, waiting to knock. Her heart was racing. What if they didn’t like her?
Just as she was about to chicken out, about to pull away from the house and run as fast as she could back to her car, the front door swung open.
“Tommy! She’s here!”
Footsteps thundered as Thomas practically jumped the entire staircase. He paused, catching his breath and glancing at John with a smile. Y/n, now in his line of sight, was surprised with an almost sprinting Tommy then breath-taking hug. Tommy swung her around, smiling even wider at her giggles.
“Hello my love! It’s nice to see you too!”
They stopped spinning, but she remained in his arms. “I-I’m sorry, Y/n/n, it’s just- I’m so excited to introduce you to my family. They’re gonna love you! And- I missed you a lot.”
“Tommy you saw me two hours ago.”
“I know.” He set her down and kissed her roughly. “So, you ready to come inside?”
Y/n nodded and held his hand, grip getting tighter when he raced to the family room where he forced his family to sit until she arrived. Although Polly would’ve normally told him no and that he couldn’t make them do that unless it was for something absolutely important like a death, Tommy’s child-like soul was showing for the first time in a long time.
They were experiencing a version of Tommy that they hadn’t seen since before the war.
He kissed her hand and asked her to wait by the door. He opened the door slightly, trying to hide the smile creeping onto his face but failing miserably. Ada jumped up from her seat with wide eyes, “Is she here?”
“Don’t be ridiculous Ada, look at that smile. She is, and lover-boy can’t help but smile like a bloody idiot” chuckled Arthur.
“Shush! Don’t tease your brother, he’s happy and that’s what matters.” Pol turned her attention to the man of the conversation, “So, is she going to say hello?”
Thomas rolled his eyes at his brother’s comment, a slight blush on his cheeks, then poked his head out the door, mumbling to someone the other’s had no knowledge of. They exchanged glances of confusion before readjusting to more welcoming and comforting expressions as a gorgeous h/c woman walked into the room.
“Well fuck. Tom really did pick a good one.” Michael laughed to himself.
“Family, this is Y/n, the woman who helped me in the war...the woman I fell in love with. Y/n, this is my family.” She waved nervously. “You’ve met John and Arthur. That’s Finn, Ada, my aunt Polly, and my cousin Michael.”
“It’s a pleasure to finally meet all of you.”
“And it’s a pleasure to have finally met you. Tommy never shuts his trap when it comes to you. You have no idea how grateful we are about the whole saving Tommy thing, even if you were just doing your job.” Pol admitted.
“Now that Y/n’s here, can we eat now Tommy?” Finn finally entered the conversation, his question causing Y/n to look over to Tommy with a look that wordlessly questioned something along the lines of, ‘you didn’t let them eat?’
He looked back, raising his eyebrows to reference his point. He was waiting until she arrived. The family watched them as they communicated with their actions until Finn repeated Tommy’s name. “Ah yes, dinner! Uhm, Pol, can you show Y/n to the dining room?”
“Of course. Come dear,” she stood up, holding out her arm, beckoning Y/n to join her. “it’s alright, I don’t bite” she winked.
Tommy joined them with a bottle of Y/n’s favorite alcohol. Y/n thought back to the time Tommy flooded her with questions, drawling out excuses when asked, and now here was the answer to the preferred alcohol choice question.
“So, Y/n, what do you for a living? Still in the nurse industry?” Pol tried her go at small talk, smiling kindly at the woman sat next to Tommy.
“Not really, I was hoping there was a spot open in the...ya know, Peaky business-” she was cut off by Arthur choking on his asparagus. “but then again nurse stuff could help. I mean, you could use some help if someone were to get injured in a gun fight or something, right?”
Arthur recovered from his asparagus accident and squinted his eyes at Y/n. “Woah woah woah, wait a fucking minute, let me get this straight. You know about the...well not so legal side to our work?” She nodded. “Tommy told you?” She nodded again. “And you’re fine with it?” She nodded once more.
A pregnant pause filled the room. Awkward tension grew heavier.
“When do you think you’ll pop a baby in her?”
Y/n’s eyes bulged out of her head, Arthur broke from his cautious state into laughter, Tommy’s cheeks turned red from blush and his attempt of not breaking like his older brother. Ada gasped as her mouth dropped open, Finn snickered with his oldest brother, Michael looked away and snorted but mumbled an apology when his mother glared at him.
“John!”
“What? It’s just a qu- ow!” She flicked his ear and sat back in her seat.
“My apologies, Y/n. You’ll have to excuse Tommy’s brothers and their...humor. You’ll get used to it at some point, but I’m not sure how long that’ll take.”
“It’s alright, the question just...caught me off guard.” Y/n smiled weakly at John with sympathy as he rubbed his ear with a childish grumpy furrow of his eyebrows. “Besides, we aren’t exactly planning on turning into bunnies or having all of our children in a month. We can’t have two Johns in your family, can we?”
The tension was cut like it never existed. The family, all except John, laughed. Y/n smiled and joined in, happy her joke made from the knowledge of John and Esme’s relationship Tommy, and a boasting John, shared with her, caused the family to laugh. Her nervousness was brushed away by the sound of amusement.
“Oi! What’s that supposed to mean?!” red dusted across John’s face. He knew exactly what it meant.
“Look Tommy, I can see his fluffy little ears, how much longer do you think it’ll take for them to grow into big boy ears?” Arthur added.
“Alright, that’s enough, leave John alone.” she wiped away the tears she had shed from how hard she was laughing. Pol couldn’t remember the last time she laughed that hard, let alone the last time she had a good laugh.
Y/n was Tommy’s angel, the thing that kept him who he was, the beacon that signed home when he was lost, and now, she was spreading that feeling to his family. While dinner continued, jokes being made, fun being poked at, spirits high and tummies full, Polly was thankful.
She reclined back into her chair, watching as Y/n leaned into Tommy’s side, her eyes sparkling with interest when stories of a teenage version of the man was brought up. Y/n brought out the child-like-souls they thought were long gone. She made sure they had fun and didn’t grow up in a sense that they had lost their fun sides.
The boys were acting like children once more, wrestling with each other and chuckling every now and then. Ada and Y/n were snickering to themselves by the fire like teenagers gushing over their crush.
“I’d like to make a toast.”
The fun-filled-joyous sounds came to a halt when Pol raised her glass. They all quickly grabbed their glasses, Y/n and Ada reaching beside them, and the boys stumbling over to the kitchen and returning with their beverages.
“I know I should’ve done this at dinner, but now feels like the perfect time. Thank you, Y/n, for...well everything. You helped Tommy, later meeting him again and rekindling the fire you felt for one another, which I doubt had ever gone out. Thank you for bringing our spirits of happiness and fun back to us, relieving us from business and worry. Thank you for being the sweet angel you are.” She wiped a small tear from her eyes and raised her glass again, “to Y/n and Tommy.”
“To Y/n and Tommy!” The siblings smiled and downed their drinks. Their fun resumed, without Y/n and Tommy though.
“To us,” Y/n turned to Tommy, both drinking to the toast, and set down her glass. “Thank you too, Thomas Shelby, for fighting through that war. You didn’t have to fight for me, but you did, and you kept up with that promise. I love you so much.”
“I love you most.” He rested his hands on her waist as he pulled her in for a soft kiss and her hands cupped his cheeks. They stayed there for a second, relaxing in the euphoria before pulling away. Tommy walked over to the sofa, patting the spot next to him. “Just a couple more weeks, then you’re all mine.”
She rested her head on his shoulder, smiling at the ring on her left hand, “A couple more weeks.”

Fandom: Peaky Blinders
Word Count: 2, 522
WARNINGS: Cursing
Summary: Aliena Welsh has been living in the universe of the show Peaky Blinders for 2 months now. She’s beginning to make a life and a home for herself, but she’s been avoiding calling Thomas by his name. And he wants to know why.
MASTERLIST  CHAPTER ONE CHAPTER THREE
A/N: So, I forgot to add something very important. I am not from Liverpool. I do not know the proper way scousers talk. I’ve done some research and watched movies, but I will not advocate that it’s perfect. I’d love to get my readers’ opinions on it, and if enough responses come back saying that I shouldn’t show her accent in the writing- it will be gone! Also, this is the pronunciation of Aliena ( A Lee ay nah ). Thanks for reading!

So, I've been with the Shelby's for two months now! It has definitely been something! I mean Polly is very strict and for the first couple of days I was taking care of John's kids, she was watching over me like a hawk. I mean I didn't mind and I totally appreciated it. I dealt with me own family members, meaning I could've dealt with them however I wanted but these weren't me kids to punish. So, that's where Polly helped me out. She set me boundaries.
With the cooking, I learned a lot of things. Like how to make eggs and bacon and sausage for breakfast. I can basically make anything Polly has taught me for the past 2 months. I also clean the house regularly. I do the sweeping, moping, the trash, and the laundry. I honestly don't mind. What's fun is that Polly found out that I didn't know UK currency and how it worked and she taught me it along with Finn. But, Finn actually already knew how to count money. He was 10, of course he did! He was there so that Polly could keep an eye on ‘em.
I'm currently working on buying our weekly groceries for the main house, and for John. For the main house, Polly helps me out, but for John's house, I have to figure it out on me own.
I was doing the kids' laundry as I watched over them. Katie, the eldest at 7, was helping me along with her sister Ilsa, who was 6. Robert, who was 4, was playing with his younger brother John, who was 3. I found out that John had knocked up Martha when they were 16, resulting in little Katie. They had Ilsa a year later, waited 2 years and had little Robert, and then baby John Jr. was a result of John Sr.’s vacation days during the war.
I was scrubbing harshly against a stain when I noticed things had gotten out of hand. "Robbie, don't hit your brother so hard! You'll regret it when you're older. Katie, dear, you need to space out the clothes more! Ilsa, you need to scrub that spot harder." I shouted at them.
Ilsa huffed. "Aliena, I want to go play! Why can't I?"
"It's not that you can't, sweetheart. It's just- I need your help. I have to take care of all of your clothes along with your father's, along with your uncles’ and aunt's clothes. I would have your brothers do the same if they were any older, but they aren't. They would just mess the clothes up or not wash them right. So, as much as it pains me to prevent you from playing, I need your help, alright?"
She groaned loudly. "Fine! But only because you need me." She muttered while sporting a big pout.
I chuckled at her and reached over to pinch her pout. She flinched at it.
"Aliena, why would I regret it?" Robbie shouted.
"What?" I asked with my eyes squinting as I tried to get a good look at him.
He ran towards me, which made Johnny follow. "Why would I regret hitting this annoying bugger?" He repeated while pushing his brother's head.
I tsked at his antics. "You'll regret it because he'll grow bigger one day and give you a beating back. Mark my words, he'll learn to get you when you're weak!"
"No, he wouldn't!"
"Oh, but he would! It's what siblings do you see. I'm not telling you to never hit 'em because I know that's how you both play, but just don't make each other cry. Okay?"
Robbie tilted his head as if in deep thought before agreeing and running off with his brother.
I sighed knowing that he probably told me a blag.
Speaking of blags, you know that story I fed Thomas when I first arrived here was total bullshit, right? The truth is me whole family, nieces and all, are back in California in one house. Me da and ma aren't dead. Me sister doesn't have a husband, but does have a daughter. Me brother doesn't have a wife, but actually has 4 kids. Me da's brother is not mental, but lives with me gran. I forgot the reason why. And me mum still talks to her family all while maintaining the mentality that they are jealous of her because she's a stay-at-home mum. Also, I was dead-on about me body being younger. I had to have been 16, at most, because when I was 18 me features began to be more defined, and now I was stuck with this baby face again.
When we were all done with the laundry, it was late afternoon. I made us all lunch, and then let them all run abar with their friends with the expectation of little Johnny. Him and I were going back over to Polly's. He once asked me about this decision, and I told him it was because he was too young. He pouted and groaned, but accepted it nonetheless.
I opened the door to the house and he bolted right in. I laughed at the sight. I went straight away to the kitchen and put on an apron. I had to, ironically, make sandwiches for the boys. Finn probably found something to eat or Polly made him something, but it was my responsibility to feed the older Shelby brothers.
"Finn, take care of your cousin while I go 'n feed your brothers!" I shouted as I finished making the last sandwich.
I put a plate on top of the other holding two sandwiches and I had the third one set on its own plate, ready to be served. I opened the door by hitting it with me bum. I was instantly overwhelmed by the yelling and shouting of countless men that were in the betting shop. I had to weave me way through clumps of men as well as maintaining awareness of all their movements, so that they don't bump into me!
John was closest even though he was actually the farthest. But he was the only one out of his office. Always near the blackboard that one.
"John, I have your lunch!"
He smiled at me while taking the plate. "Thanks, love!"
I nodded in return. Then, I went for Arthur's office. I knocked, he saw me, and told me to come in.
"Here's your lunch, Arthur." I separated the plates and got one of the two sandwiches to place on the plate.
"Ah! Finally, some fuckin' food! I swear Aliena, you make a mean sandwich. Thanks, doll." Arthur said before taking a huge bite.
I said "you're welcome" with a rather embarrassed smile and left. I walked out of the room and closed the door behind me. Now, I was holding one plate in my hand. I inhaled largely and puffed my cheeks as I exhaled.
'I swear I'll never get used to 'em.' I thought.
I walked over to Thomas' office, knocked, and was allowed to come in. I turned the knob and took in the sight. Thomas Shelby kept his head down, inspecting his documents while nursing a ciggie that was in-between his two fingers resting there with his arm bent on the desk.
"Your lunch, Mr. Shelby." I whispered as I set his plate down.
He didn't even lift his head as he muttered "thank you." So, I just left.
I wiped my hands on me apron, walked back into the main house, and closed the doors behind me. I walked back into the kitchen and tossed me apron on a chair.
"Finn, is your cousin still alive?"
"Yeah!"
"Good! Keep him that way for the next two to three hours!"
"Okay!"
Tumblr media
After serving lunch to the boys, I had to start cleaning the house. I beat the dirt out of rugs, I swept away dirt, and moped the floors afterward. When I was done with that I was taking down clothes that I've just washed yesterday. Then, I got ready to start ironing them, but mid through it was around 4 o'clock.
I had to stop and go find the rest of John's kids. I got little Johnny and walked back to the flat, but when I got there, I found all three of them waiting outside of the door. I was able to start dinner with ease that night. Katie helped me make chicken soup. She was always so adorable. It took little over an hour. I ate with them, and then told Ilsa it was her night to wash the dishes.
She’s so stubborn, reminds me of meself. I bet she’ll be a boss feminist when she gets older. I can imagine her now, marching for Women’s Rights.
Anyway, I ran over back to the main house and helped Polly finish making their dinner. It was basically chopping and peeling. When she didn't need me anymore, I had to go back to the kids. I was up with them 'till 8:30 and then I had to tuck them into bed. I got done by 9, but little Johnny came out abar three times before settling down. When I was confident they were all asleep, I tidied up the house a little more. I just put away a toy or two that they'd missed.
It was 11:37 in the night when John got home. He thanked me and gave me a pound before sending me on me way. With a pep in my step, I trod over back to the main house.
I got me key to unlock the door, stepped in, and then locked it. With a key still in me hand, I rested against the door. Me hand with the key was clutching on the doorknob for dear life, me body thudded softly as it collided with the door. I closed me eyes and let out a heavy sigh. I rested there for what seemed like an eternity. But I got meself back up. I took the pins out of me hair that finally managed to form and maintain a proper bun. Me cheeks puffed as I exhaled and I shook out me hair. I put me pins in me coat pocket as I made me way to the couch. Me body just plopped down and I just relaxed.
Me feet and back soon started to ache. So, I took off me shoes and socks, and started massaging me feet and rolling my ankles. I followed up by cracking me back, and then going upstairs to me room. I started placing everything nicely and where they were supposed to be. I changed into pajamas, which was just a dress. I attempted to fall asleep in bed, but ended up failing. Instead, I went downstairs, grabbed the tub, heated up some water, and drew meself a bath in me own room.
The only way we could cleanse ourselves here was in a tub. It wasn't installed into the house, oh no! It was quite literally a grey tub, and I have to use another tub for me hair. When I was done, I poured me hair water down the kitchen drain, and then worked me way with the water I used for me body. Afterward, I settled down in front of the fire that was in the living room. I sat in front of it while wringing the water out of me hair. The crackling of the fire as well as its heat was comforting. So much so that I found meself dozing off.
It was during that allotted time that a hand suddenly shook me. Frightened, I gasped, rolled on to my knees from leaning on me thighs, and tried to focus on the person who jolted me awake.
"You know, you'll end up catching a cold if you go to sleep with wet hair right away?" Thomas said while kneeling down beside me. "And your hair will be a pain to deal with if you don't brush it soon."
I nodded while looking at him with hooded, unfocused eyes. "Thank you, Mr. Shelby." My voice sounded hoarse like I actually had been just awoken from a nap when in reality all I did was close me eyes for a second. Me eyes kept wanting to close. I chose to rub me arms to keep me awake.
"Do I make you uncomfortable, Ms. Welsh?" He asked while properly sitting down next to me.
I squeezed me eyes shut, silently cringing. I knew I was making it obvious, but I figured that he was used to it. Hell, even Arthur and John don't talk to him without minding themselves.
With a tight grip on me arms and an equally tight smile I said, "No, not uncomfortable, Mr. Shelby. But I am intimidated by you."
He nodded silently. "Intimidation is often used as another word for fear."
I giggled at his words. "It's actually a synonym for frighten or terrify, but also overawe. Which means to be impressed by someone to like the point of speechlessness." Me hands were now an active part in our small conversation.
Only reason I knew that was from searching up the word so much!
"So, am I correct to assume you're telling me you're impressed by me, Ms. Welsh?"
I pursed me lips while leaning me head to the side, resting on me arms that had been crossed on top of me bent knee. "I guess. What I'm really trying to say is that… I don't know actually. I just don't want to cross a line with you, in all honesty. If I were to say something wrong- like a mispronunciation! Arthur and John would 'ave a laugh and a joke, but my expected reaction from you is silence. Silence can be the most daunting thing."
Thomas hummed while looking at me silently.
I couldn't stop a giggle and pointed at him. "See! Like that! Are you just being understanding, or are you judging me?" I laughed even more afterward, and then I yawned.
Through squinted eyes, I saw Thomas smirk. It was small. I'm sure it was really a half-assed smile.
 "I see that you call my brothers by their names. Even though I insisted from the moment we met for you to call me by my name, you don't. Is this the reason why?"
I hummed. "I guess. I mean, well, you're my boss. I figure you have to use, you know, the proper terms. It's my first job 'n all! I didn't want to do anything to mess up." I said while tracing over the patterns in the carpet.
"Well, from the way I see it, I am your boss and your boss is giving you an order."
I tried to stifle my giggle and hide me smile, but it didn't do much since he had eyes and ears. "Fine. Thomas."
"Aliena."
After that, he went up to his room. Me fatigue was oddly gone yet at its worst at the same time. It took me another hour before I managed to drag meself up and sleep on the couch.

Promises Not Kept Part 36
Summary: Tommy Shelby made a promise to Jonah Ward while in the war. A promise he didn't keep. But it comes to haunt him when he tries to drown out his sorrows with a young woman.
Part 36: Alfie and Tommy discuss life. Meanwhile Johanna and Charles are up to no good.
Tumblr media
           “Tommy, mate, you’ve got to get a fucking grip.” Alfie and Tommy took the walk down out to the pier. It was a bit away from where they’d shot each other on the beach.
           Alfie let the man take a few deep breaths of the salt air before he began. With a grunt, he sat down on one of the low dock posts.
           Tommy remained standing, his hands in his coat pockets, his eyes fixed on the horizon.
           “I mean, honestly, when Leah called me I thought you’d been shot. Or someone had died. She were hysterical, mate. Said you’d lost your fucking mind because your family had come for Christmas. Now, what’s that about, aye?” Alfie clasped his hands together between his knees.
           “There’s a black cat in my family.” Tommy replied, not addressing any of his actions that Christmas day. It was embarrassing enough to know that his wife was so distraught and in such a state that she phoned Alfie Solomons.
           “Right, now I’ve no fucking clue what that means.” Not the man to speak in riddles like the Shelbys, he skirted around the ominous remark. “I’ve enough common sense to know you’re referring to a traitor. That right?” The slight nod was enough of an indicator that Alfie was on the right track. “So, you’ve got your knickers in a twist because of one traitor? ‘Tween you and me, we both fucking know how many men we’ve gutted for being traitors. Now either you really have lost your bloody mind or you’re using it as a fucking excuse.”
           Tommy wasn’t sure what he was expecting from the chat with Alfie. What did anyone ever expect from the man? Even still, he was wise to use the tactic he’d used for years in regard to their interactions. He let the Camden Town gangster run his mouth until everything was said. He could handle the pokes and jabs Alfie made at him, that wasn’t an issue. If anything, he felt mildly comforted. As if things had gone back to a simpler time. Back to when they would meet in Alfie’s bakery. They would negotiate business, perhaps Alfie would pull a gun or dish out a few colorful threats. And yet both knew that they weren’t in any real danger. Because they had an understanding with each other. One that was unspoken. It’s why they weren’t enemies.
           “Lookit you, Tom, have you even fucking realized that the world has kept on spinning? You’re out there doing the same shit you’ve always done, ‘cept now you’ve got a fancy new office at the Commons. What’s that brought you then? Just a nasty mess, innit? Now your family’s involved.”
           “They were involved from the beginning.”
           “No, no, not that family.” He waved a dismissive hand at the rest of the Shelby family. “Your family. Your wife and kids.”
           There was a break in Alfie’s rambling. Enough for Tommy to listen to the waves crashing against the pier. Steady, rhythmic churning that felt a lot like the state of his brain at the current moment. Anxieties and anger kept sweeping in. Unrelenting waves of stress and the unbearable feeling of being caged in.
           Alfie let out a low chuckle of pity and shook his head. “We’re men of habit, Tommy, ain’t we? Don’t fucking learn, right, from our mistakes ‘til it really does some fucking damage.” He subconsciously rubbed a hand over the mangled part of his face. “Think ‘bout it. All of us going off, yeah to that fucking War, seeing the shit we did, then they fucking expected us to just come back. Some men did, can’t fucking understand it. They must’ve been able to shut off that part of their brain or sumthin’.” He shrugged. “We saw blood over there, didn’t we? Then we came back and didn’t see none. And that didn’t feel right, did it? So, we made the streets into a warzone. That felt right.”
           Tommy watched the crests of the waves as they glistened in the dim sunlight. The clouds had made it a gray afternoon and the sky seemed at odds with the dark angry sea.
           “Does it feel right now, Tommy?”
           Finally, he looked over at Alfie. In a moment of vulnerability, his defenses lowered. “I’ve dug in too deep.” He admitted in a low voice. “You, Leah, Polly, Arthur, whoever can blame me for what I’ve done. You can tell me I was wrong for getting involved with Mosley. I don’t even fucking care what me reason was in the first place. What matters now is I’ve done it. There’s no way to reverse it. I can only move forward. That’s all I’ve ever been able to do.” When his voice broke, he lifted a hand to his face and pinched the bridge of his nose.
           Alfie peered up at him. “So, is this what happens when you’ve run out of answers? You lose your damn mind? Tryna hold everything together by a thread? May I remind you that you’ve got people ‘round you that are waiting patiently to fucking help you?”
           Tommy lowered his hand and raised an eyebrow. “Including you?”
           Alfie rolled his eyes and muttered a few incoherent words. “Didn’t fucking say that, but if it means helping out your saint of a wife, then yes.” He replied gruffly.
           “The world really is upside down.”
~~~~~~~~~~
           Although they hadn’t covered much ground, at least Alfie had managed to get Tommy grounded. The ocean and their usual banter had a strangely calming effect. For how long it would last, neither of them was sure as they walked back to the house.
           Unfortunately, it would only last a few minutes past walking in the door.
           Tommy, ever the perceptive one, almost instantly caught on that something wasn’t right. Both Charlie and Johanna’s coats, which he had hung up on the coat rack, were gone. Yet, Leah’s was still there, ruling out that she’d taken them out for a walk. Cyril was also sitting by the door as if he were waiting for someone to return.
           Alarm bells going off, Tommy pushed past Alfie in the hallway and went into the sitting room. Molly was sleeping in her bassinette but the other two children weren’t there. “Leah?” He called down the hallway.
           Still in the kitchen with Alfie’s maid, Leah poked her head out the door. “Yeah?” She was hopeful that the chat had gone well. But that hope was dashed when she saw the same panicked look that he had on Christmas Day.
           “Where are the children?” He demanded.
           Instantly, her heart dropped to her stomach. “What do you mean? They were in the sitting room?” She quickly dropped what she was doing and rushed out to find the room was empty aside from Molly. The sight made her chest seize, a hand going to her mouth.
           Tommy ran outside. It felt like there was pure ice running through his veins. Dread made his head swim as he was desperate to keep afloat so he could find Charlie and Johanna. The yard was empty and there weren’t any nearby sounds of the two playing together. “Charles! Johanna!” He shouted. As he repeated their names, there was an overwhelming feeling that begun to mingle with the fears of the worst. His throat began to close up until he was gasping for breath. His vision started to cloud. It almost felt like he was drowning on dry land.
           Alfie, Leah, and the maid came outside after calling through the house to see if maybe the children were just hiding. Leah, overrun by mother’s instincts, took off sprinting down the dirt path that led to the main road. Alfie’s maid headed down to the beach to see if they’d gone there.
           But Tommy didn’t even notice, he’d dropped to his knees on the grass. He clutched his sides, continuing to hyperventilate.
           Alfie recognized the symptoms. He’d seen many young men suffer a similar fate. Wide-eyed men, boys really, as they experienced the trenches first hand. Panic attacking them like a vicious monster, pressing down on their chests to make it difficult to breathe, overriding all thoughts.
           “C’mon, c’mon.” Alfie grabbed Tommy by the shoulders and hoisted him up. “Let’s get you inside. We’ll find them, they couldn’t’ve gotten too far on them little legs of theirs.” He guided the hyperventilating man back inside and onto one of the couches. He picked up Molly to bring her somewhere quieter so she could sleep.
           Tommy curled into himself, his forehead pressed to his knees, his arms thrown over his head. He trembled as he tried desperately to breathe. Darkness was starting to close in on him. Was this really how he was going to go out? Some attack? Hardly a fitting death for a Shelby man but he felt powerless to stop it.
           Alfie returned to the sitting room and plopped down at his armchair. “Just try to breathe, mate. You’re alright.”
           Alright?!
           Tommy was sure he was dying and Alfie was just sitting there like it was nothing. He let out a broken sob, unable to really speak. His fingers knotted into his hair gripping so tightly he threatened to pull every strand out.
           “Easy, Tom, just have to wait it out.” Unfortunately, as many times as he’d seen the abnormal condition, Alfie didn’t know how to snap a man out of it. He could distinctly remember smacking one private who had gone completely mad. But a slap hadn’t done much and Alfie didn’t want to beat up a man who was nearly catatonic. Wouldn’t be a fair fight.
           It was just waiting game. Either until the person wore themselves out entirely or had a moment of clarity.
           Alfie stood and looked out over the balcony. The beach was empty aside from his maid who was calling for the children. Of course, he was afraid for the wellbeing of Charlie and Johanna, but it didn’t help if everyone was running around like chickens without heads.
           So, he stayed with Tommy as he endured the fit. Every so often, he’d offer a few words of comfort. Sometimes, he stood up to check on Molly before returning to sit with Tommy.
           Gradually, the Blinder’s breathing slowed and the grip on his hair loosened. He lifted his head slowly and could actually see clearly for what felt like hours. It happened to be good timing too because the front door opened and Leah marched in two very sheepish looking children.
           Charlie hung his head and Johanna was clutching a bag of chocolates.
           “Now you go and apologize to Alfie and your father for worrying them.” Leah ordered firmly.
           Charlie and Johanna stepped forward with pouts. “Sorry.” They mumbled in unison.
           “Now where’d you go off to then?” Alfie asked with a tut. “Gave us all of fright, can’t go wandering off on your own like that.”
           Neither of the kids answered until Leah prodded them. “Go on and tell them.” She crossed her arms over her chest.
           “Charlie said a naughty word and I wanted to tell mummy but he said not to. So, then he said he’d get me chocolate if I didn’t tell mummy.” Johanna rattled off. She’d tattled on Charlie almost immediately upon seeing Leah running towards them on the road.
           “That’s not what happened!” Charlie exclaimed defensively.
           “Was too!”
           “Alright, enough!” Leah interrupted the bickering and snatched the chocolates away from Johanna. “Go to your rooms. I don’t want to hear a peep from either of you.” She snapped.
           Johanna whined and made grabby hands at her mother. She hated being in trouble and never liked it when Leah was the disciplinary.
           “Go, Johanna.”
           Reluctantly, the young girl followed her brother down the hall to the room they were staying in.
           Leah sat down beside Tommy with a sigh. She put a hand over her pounding heart. “Spoilt, the both of them.” She mumbled. Although she was just grateful the two were alive and hadn’t been snatched up.
           Her husband silently wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her closer. The physical touch was enough to completely bring him back.
           “Did you two talk?” Leah asked, her tone softening.
           “We did yeah.” Alfie nodded. “’Course there’s always more to talk about, ain’t there? You’re all welcome to stay s’long as you need to.”
           “Oh, Alfie, thank you but I don’t want to intrude on you with the kids.” Leah was slightly embarrassed by the fuss the children had already made.
           “S’alright. Brings a bit of life to the house, don’t it?” Alfie chuckled. Cyril plopped down by his feet for a good tummy rub. “Doesn’t hurt to have this ol’ lug around again too.”
           Leah smiled and Tommy there was a glimmer of hope in her eyes. “We appreciate it very much.” She said softly. “You’re giving us some time and a place to sort things out. I know we’ll be able to.” She said the last sentence to Tommy more than to Alfie.
~~~~~~~~~~
          Charlie Shelby liked to believe that he was fearless. At least braver than most boys his age. He enjoyed riding horses, never shying away from a challenge in the saddle. He wanted to be as tough as his father and uncles. Wanted to carry a gun in a holster and walk around with razor blades sewn in his cap.
           Although he would never say such a thing to his mother. Leah would probably faint from fear if he ever said such a thing. She could barely stand the way he rode horses sometimes.
           Tommy hoped for a long time that by the time Charlie was old enough to understand, their business would be one-hundred percent legitimate. He didn’t expect the Depression and he certainly wasn’t expecting the fascist movement. So, it worried him that his son would pick up on things he wasn’t meant to know.
           Certainly, spending time with another notorious gang boss wouldn’t be the answer. But it strangely was. It took the children out of the framework of the company. Even though they spent most of their time in Warwickshire, business was still conducted there.
           Meetings, parties, deals. Didn’t matter.
           What mattered was pulling them out of that environment. Much as Leah had done when she took them to America. Putting them in a sort of safe-house was enough to draw their attention away from things they weren’t meant to be involved in.
           Still, Charlie had either learned enough or it was simply ingrained in him by blood.
~~~~~~~~~~
           “You’re writing an awful lot.”
           Winter turned into spring and Leah was worried they had long overstayed their welcome at Alfie’s. But the man didn’t seem to mind or give hints that they needed to leave. In fact, he waved off any of Leah’s concerns about how long they’d been there.
           Not that Leah wanted to leave. None of them did. The children were so happy to be there with Uncle Alfie. But they were also getting much closer to their father. And Tommy had a feeling he had Alfie to thank for that.
           Tommy glanced up from his notebook. He and Leah were sat on the beach, enjoying the first warm afternoon of the season. The children were indulging in the sunshine as well, romping about with Cyril and Alfie along the beach.
           “Can I know what you’re writing?” She wondered cautiously.
           He tapped the tip of his pen on the paper. He’d promised to be more open with his wife no matter how difficult it could be. “Alfie mentioned something about keeping logs in the War and it reminded me of-well of the journals I kept.” He admitted. “I used to write as much as I could so that if I died, maybe they’d have something to give Polly.”
           “And now you’re writing again.” She noted the number of pages he’d gone through in the leather-covered notebook.
           “Yeah.” Tommy nodded. “Not really to leave behind to anyone.” He idly flipped through the pages already filled with writing. “Just to, I guess get me thoughts out. Somewhere other than my brain.” He shrugged.
           “I think that’s a good idea.” She nodded and smiled warmly.
           Her husband smiled back and for the first time in a while, she could see the sun in his blue eyes.
           By the shore, Charlie was hopping from one rock to the other waving a piece of driftwood around like a sword. He’d been particularly taken by the pirate story Alfie had told them the night before. After all, who was more fearless than a pirate?
           “Argh!” Charlie stabbed his makeshift sword at the empty air in front of him.
           Alfie chuckled. “Captain Charlie, where’s your ship, mate?”
           “Erm…it’s been…it’s been stolen!”
           “Stolen, aye? What sorta scoundrels took your ship?”
           Charlie frowned and hopped down from the large rock he was standing on. “It was-um-it was Queen Jo! She was jealous of my ship and took it!” He pointed his sword at his sister.
           Johanna frowned. “I don’t wanna be a queen, I wanna be a pirate too!” She put her hands on her hips. “That’s no fair!”
           “Girls can’t be pirates, Joey.” Charlie rolled his eyes.
           “Now, hang on, Charlie-boy. Plenty of women pirates of legend.” Alfie told them.
           “Pfft, yeah right.”
           “I’ll tell you the story of Anne Bonny tonight.” Alfie crouched down when Molly grabbed at his pant leg. “Legendary pirate of the Caribbean Sea.” He picked up the youngest Shelby. “And a woman.”
           “Ha!” Johanna beamed triumphantly. “I can be a pirate!”
           Charlie frowned. “Fine, but I’m captain.” He asserted.
           “Very well then, Johanna can be the first mate and Molly can keep watch from the crow’s nest.” Alfie propped Molly up on his shoulders. “Now let’s set a course for mum and dad, I think it’s nearly time for lunch.”
~~~~~~~~~~`
           Charlie finished lunch before the others and wandered off when he was excused from the table. However, he wasn’t allowed to go back down to the beach by himself. So, he took to wandering around the sitting room. There were a few toys left out but he felt bored of the usual imaginary games he and Johanna played. Instead, he wandered back down the hall until he came across the coat rack. There, his father’s flat cap had slipped from one of the hooks.
           The young boy, rapt with curiosity, picked up the cap and turned it over in his hands a few times. He took a hold of the brim and pushed back the part of the fabric that hid the razorblade carefully sewn inside. Too young to think through the consequences, he lightly placed his finger on the edge of the blade.
           “Charlie! Drop that, now!” Tommy’s frantic voice from down the hall made Charlie startle and pull his hand back quickly. The motion caused him to cut his finger on the blade.
           The moment he saw blood, Charlie began to panic. Fearless. He liked to think he was fearless. But he’d never cut himself so badly before. Before he could really react, Tommy picked him up, making him drop the cap. He brought Charlie into the kitchen and grabbed a dish towel to wrap around his son’s finger.
           Alfie and Leah looked over from their spot at the table. “What’s going on?” She turned in her chair. "Is everything okay?"
           “He accidentally cut his finger,” Tommy replied.
           Charlie started to hyperventilate, tears pricking his eyes. He wanted to move his hand but his father kept a firm grip.
           “Is he bleeding?” Leah stood up, suddenly locked into mother mode.
           “Yeah.”
           “Well, what on Earth happened?” She gasped as she saw there was blood seeping into the white cloth around Charlie’s finger. The boy had only been away from the table for a few minutes.
           “He…he found my hat and was playing with it,” Tommy admitted. There was no use in lying.
           “Why did you leave it out?” She demanded.
           “I didn’t just leave it out!” Tommy argued over Charlie’s crying.
           “Well, he got his hands on it, Tom!”
           Alfie got up to separate the two. “Things fall from that coat rack all the time.” He said gently. “Let’s have a look-see then. If he needs stitches, there’s a doctor just down the road.”
           Tommy tensed up but let Alfie take a peek at Charlie’s finger.
           “Hm, doesn’t look too bad. Let’s get a bandage on it, yeah? You’re lucky, aye, your pirate name would’ve been Nine-Fingered Charlie!” The joke made the young boy laugh tearfully.
           Leah took a deep breath and stepped back. Her eyes met Tommy’s. They both realized how fragile their relationship still was.
           “I’ll go get something to wrap it up with,” Alfie said and headed down the hall.
           Charlie sniffled. “I didn’t mean to do it.”
           “I know, Charles, you just can’t play with sharp things,” Tommy replied quietly.
           “But you wear it. Thought it would be okay.” He mumbled.
           The hypocrisy was not lost on Tommy but he didn’t have an explanation suitable for the child. “I know. But you shouldn’t play with things that aren’t yours.”
           Johanna peered over the top of her chair. “Is brother gonna be okay?” She asked.
           “He’ll be fine, love,” Leah promised. “It was just an accident.”
           “Just an accident.” Tommy echoed. He wiped Charlie’s tears. “Something we can all learn from.”

Gabrijela leaned against Cillian, head on his shoulder as he read a book. She shut her eyes, tired from how early they had to get up. Five in the morning for their eight-thirty flight.
"Such an ungodly hour." She muttered and found the position to be uncomfortable. So she moved on her back, her head in his lap.
He looked at her, "You'll get sleep in the afternoon." He leaned down, lifting her head up to kiss her.
"But I wanna sleep now." She murmured against his lips.
"Hush," He chuckled and resumed his reading. He rested one arm just below her breasts, she held on to it with a hand. She thought to what he had done this morning. She was packing her things when he had come up behind her. His hands roved over her breasts and he kissed her neck, "Cillian," She whispered before she was bent over the bed. Her jeans were yanked down and he knelt behind her until he ruined her with his mouth. He had moaned, "For last night." He said against her before she cried out and came on his fingers once more.
She smiled at the pleasant morning and could feel herself drifting to sleep but it wasn't long when it was time to get up and get moving.
She grabbed her carry-on luggage, she had repacked this morning into his bigger suitcase as he didn't need to bring to much stuff as he had left some things in his family home.
They shuffled on to the plane, he helped her shove her bag into the overhead compartment then she slid into the chair beside the window. She grew nervous. She didn't like small aeroplanes. They justled to much when in the air.
She hastily put on her seat belt, her leg shaking.
"Are you okay?" Cillian slid his hand in hers.
"A little nervous. I'm not a fan of small planes." She laughed softly, "Or planes in general."
"Are you only doing this to get a kiss from me?" He was clearly teasing her, but he was still worried.
"No!" She gasped.
"Uh-huh. Look at me, darling." He tilted her face to his.
"Prick." She huffed and he laughed and leaned in, kissing her deeply.
"No, really. It is very nerve-wracking for me." She looked out the window, it was pouring rain.
"It's okay. I'm right here," he squeezed her hand, holding it in his lap.
"I know." She smiled.
It wasn't long when the plane was ready and backed out with the help of a truck. She tensed when the plane bumped and jiggled on the tarmac, holding his hand tightly.
Then it was ready to take flight.
"Fuck." She whispered as the plane began to move, faster and faster it went.
"I'm here. I got you, Gabrijela." Cillian watched her face, her eyes shut tightly as the plane made various sounds before liftoff. He didn't like it when he saw her so stricken with fear. He wondered how she came here by herself with no one but herself for comfort.
"I hate this so fucking much. Oh god." She murmured, she hadn't opened her eyes. "God I hate it." Her heart was hammering in her chest.
He stroked her knuckles with a thumb, trying to comfort her the best he could.
Only when the plane eased into a horizontal path did she relax a little. She gulped as she opened her eyes and turned to see some very worried ice blue eyes watch her.
"Okay?" He whispered, cupping her face with a hand. He was so worried, his voice wavered a little.
"I'm okay." She placed a hand over his, turned her head to kiss the inside of his palm. "Thanks, Cillian-" She gasped when the plane wiggled.
"I'll get us some tea, hey?" The flight hostess came by and he got her some tea. They were also offered some light snacks which she gratefully munched on. She hadn't really eaten this morning so she was feeling a little sick.
The tea, however, settled her and she appreciated it a lot. But turbulence started and in a smaller plane, it was felt greatly.
She cursed softly as she tried to press herself as much as she could into the seat, and she let out soft whimpers whenever the plane moved to much.
But listening to Cillian's voice was the only thing that prevented her from having a full out panic attack. She felt something wrap around her neck, it was his scarf by the smell of the rich cologne he wore. And then the green bubble jacket he wore over her legs.
Comfy and warm.
The fear and tension left her, and she was feeling much better after fifteen minutes. He had lifted up the armrest between them so she could snuggle into his body.
They had a shared cord that would plug into his phone, and they listened to some music. They stayed like that, holding each other right through to landing.
Off the plane, they collected their bags and headed out to the area to be picked up.
"My brother will take us to the house." He said. Despite the clear skies, it was very, very cold. Only ten degrees Celcius.
Gabrijela was glad she was wearing her washed-out jeans, a hoodie that had a thermal singlet and a shirt underneath it. She still wore his scarf which was tightly wrapped around her.
"He better hurry up, otherwise he'll be taking popsicles home." She grumbled.
"Aha! There he is! Come on darling." He came to the car and beamed.
His brother got out and they embraced, "Big brother! Good to see you! God."
Gabrijela stayed back a little, watching them happily hug each other. It was so cute. She couldn't help but smile.
"Paidi, meet Gabrijela." Cillian turned and waved her closer.
"Hi," Gab smiled and shook hands with the younger brother.
"Hello, darl. You look very cold. Why don't we get in? Ma is waiting." He said.
They all got into the car, Cillian sat at the front and she sat in the back. The brothers chatted and she admired the scenery that unfolded.
Cork was lovely by the looks of it. She hoped they could spend a day looking around.
They headed a little out of the main city, to a small village Cillian was raised in.
Then down a dirt road to a stunning stone, two-story home. It had white wooden borders around the many windows and a bright green front door with a Christmas wreath on it. The garden was impeccable, and despite its winter, it was all green.
"We have a horse and some chickens," Cillian's brother said as they pulled up.
And a wave of nerves slammed into her she could only nod quickly. She hadn't put much thought to this trip. She didn't realise she would actually meet his family. Well, that's stupid, she did but... God, she didn't think it would come true.
His mother, father and his siblings. All there. Oh god, the questions. Did Cillian tell his family who she was exactly? She remembered he had said they would meet a wonderful girl. But did he tell them her age? What were they as a pair? A couple? Friends with benefits? What were they anyway? Would they think of her as some type of gold-digger, or some... young silly girl trying new things with an older man? The questions swirled in her brain she didn't realise Cillian had opened the door and was talking to her.
"Gabbie." He shook her and she looked at him. "Is everything okay?" His brother was nowhere to be seen. Must've gone in.
"I-Cillian." She breathed fast, "Is this a good idea? Oh god, I didn't think this through. Y-Your family, what will they think of me? Shit, I'm so scared."
"Breathe. Come on, breathe." He said, taking her hands with one of his. "Breathe." He instructed and she did. "They will love you, darling. Do not be afraid."
She looked closely into his eyes, he was sincere but also understanding. She reached up with a hand, brushing her fingers along his blushed cheeks. "Okay... Okay, Cillian. Okay." She nodded after some moments.
"That's my girl," He smiled and leaned in, kissing her as he helped her out.
That sentence made her feel things, her heart raced. His girl. She was his. Confidence began to build in her.
Upon entering the house, as lovely outside, it was just as lovely inside. Warm, wooden tones with a very farm like interior. It had a serious Irish charm, and she could envision little Cillian running around and down the stairs.
She spotted a picture, "Oh my, who is this?" She said as she came over.
"Uh. It's me. I was only fifteen." He laughed softly.
"Such a cutie with that smile." She looked up.
"Do I hear my precious handsome boy?" An older woman came through the threshold that had led into the living section of the house.
"Ma! Hello!" He hugged her.
"Ooo, it is wonderful to see you, Cilly." She looked over, "And oh! She is just as beautiful as you had described!"
Gabrijela's eyes widened and she looked at Cillian. He did what now?! She hugged the woman when she embraced her.
"Oh my god, no, Ma!" Cillian was flushing bright red. He was extremely embarrassed.
"Oh hush now. Come on, breakfast is ready. Kids have been whining all morning." She said and left them.
"Cillian I'm going to kill you." She hit his arm hard, pouting at him.
"Sorry! Ma wanted to know so badly. It's not like I have photos of you on my phone." He nudged her with his hip.
"No more kisses for you." She jabbed his arm with a finger and he groaned as he rubbed his arm.
They entered the very lively living room. Five young kids were playing before the fire, his siblings around a table that was covered with delicious-looking food.
Then it was the introductions, hugs and kisses and shaking hands. She learned his mother's name to be Mary and his father Lachlan. Then breakfast was underway, light chatter across the table and the kids giggling.
"How is my food?" His mother asked after a bit.
"It's so good. Thank you." Gabrijela smiled. There was an agreement across the board.
"Good! I am very glad you like it! So, tell me, how do you find our city?" She continued.
"I haven't seen it much but it does look very beautiful. I'm a sucker for old, historical towns." Gabrijela said, wiping her mouth a little as she drank a bit of apple juice.
"Fantastic. Cillian best show you around before you return back to London. There are fantastic little places all over." She said with a warm smile.
"Do you have any siblings?" Orla, Cillian's younger sister, asked.
"I do. I've got three older brothers. All married with kids." Gab nodded.
"Oh, wow. Youngest girl. How old are you?"
"Twenty-five since yesterday," Gab said softly.
"Happy Birthday! Must've been a Christmas surprise?" Mary smiled.
"Kinda. We celebrate my birthday on Christmas as it's easier. I always get a tad more presents." She giggled.
"How about any partners?" Mary continued with the questions. It made her a little overwhelmed.
"Ma, that's a bit much." Cillian cut in before Gab could reply.
"She is an adult woman, she can reply if she wants. Gabrijela?"
All eyes on her. She blinked, she looked at Cillian then back at Mary. It seemed he hadn't told her details about them.
"No. No one at all." She shook her head.
"Really? A girl as beautiful should have men wanting your attention." Mary gasped. "Maybe we should find you a man here." She winked.
Gab giggled and sipped her apple juice as everyone fell into their own conversations.
Cillian's knee brushed against hers and she looked up, "You going okay?" He asked.
"Yeah. Going just well." She nodded.
The doorbell rang and Mary hurried to go answer it. More voices filled the house as more people came. Cillian's other relatives.
More introductions, handshakes and kisses. Then everyone gathered in the large living room/sunroom. The Christmas tree was overflowing with presents.
She sat on the couch, Cillian sitting on the armrest, an arm on the backrest for support. His sisters and his brother handed out the presents to everyone, the kids having an absolute ball with their new toys or outfits. Music filled the air, laughter and joy making it warm as light snow fell outside.
"First white Christmas." Cillian leaned down.
"Dream come true." She smiled up at him.
"This one is for Gabrijela." Mary hobbled over the wrapping and the toys scattered around.
"Oh no, you shouldn't!" Gabrijela took the large box. She had to send some of her stuff back. No way she could bring this all home in her suitcase.
"Of course we should! It's a bit of your birthday and a Christmas present." Mary beamed.
"Oh goodness." Gabrijela laughed before she unwrapped the box. As she popped open the lid she gasped. "Oh!" She pulled out the items. A fantastic scarf, thick and soft and the colour of cream. The next thing inside was a multi-coloured patchwork of a throw. She handed Cillian the box as she pulled it out, it was huge! She could wrap herself up in it. There was a cooking book as well, all about traditional Irish dishes.
"We wanted to give you something of Ireland for you to take home. The scarf and the throw all made here with care and love." Mary explained. "And Cillian mentioned your love for cooking. So the book is for you to whip up something wonderful for your family at home. You'll find some of the dishes I made today in there."
Gabrijela beamed and set the items down, "Thank you so much. I will treasure them forever. I've also gotten some things to." She got up, Cillian had already set the things under the tree.
She handed them out to each sibling and his parents. She bought them their favourite wines or scotch. She remembered Cillian telling her one dinner about it.
Everyone seemed thrilled and she received plenty of hugs. Even the kids had gotten some toys from her.
The morning went on, Gabrijela played with the kids. Their parents were surprised as to how well she was with them, messing around and keeping them occupied as the table was cleaned up.
She would occasionally look up, Cillian had a serious expression as he spoke with his mother and father in the kitchen. Her heart sank, he seemed troubled. He looked over and gave her a small reassuring smile when he noted the look on her face.
Gabrijela sighed softly. She hoped that there was no trouble with her, she didn't want his family to be distrustful towards her.
Lunch came and went, and his other relatives began to leave by evening. Gabrijela spent most of her time with the kids, reading them stories or listening to their complaints of their parents or their school.
The night eased to calm, soft classical music coming from the record. His siblings disappeared upstairs, setting the kids to bed.
His father had gone early to bed.
She came to the couch where Cillian sat, a glass in her hand as well as his.
"Hi," She smiled and sat close, his arm automatically went around her.
"Hey." He smiled, looking at her. "You look exhausted."
"I am. Those kids are crazy!" She giggled as she sipped her wine.
"They are. But really adored you. You have some magic, never seen them so calm." He said, playing with the golden ends of her hair.
"Practice makes perfect." She laid her head back on his arm. It had been snowing all day, a blanket of white outside.
"How did you like it today?" He asked, his finger now traced a shape on her nape.
She shivered, "I loved it. Nervous at first, but... Your family is wonderful Cillian. Makes me miss my own back at home."
"I could imagine. Make sure to call them later yeah?" He set down his finished glass.
"I will." She looked into his eyes. He had moved so he was closer to her, kinda almost on top of her.
"Do I still get to kiss you?" He asked, his other hand taking her jaw gently.
"If you promise me one thing." She leaned closer, their noses touching.
"What?" He now cupped her neck.
"Eat me out every morning like you did this morning." She said and kissed him without hearing his answer.
Eyes shut, he kissed her deeply and passionately, pulling her close. She gripped his side a little, a soft moan escaping her as she felt his tongue sweep in. Her core warmed at the sensation of his tongue dominating hers. She hadn't kissed him all day, and she poured her heart and soul into it.
"Maybe we should go to bed too," She whispered against his lips, his hand had slid down to her hip.
"And do what?" He kissed her jaw, moving to her neck.
"Everything." She murmured, sighing in delight.
"It's a full house, Gab. Walls," he kissed her collar bone, "... Are thin."
"I can be quiet, Cillian. Or you can put a gag in my mouth." She mused when he pulled back.
"A gag?" His smirk was wicked.
"Mhm," She ran a finger down his lips.
"Let's go then." He said and they stood.
As they came to the stairs Mary was coming down them, "Ah! There you two are. Come on, let me show you your room." She said.
The pair gave each other a look and followed her.
"You have the room farthest of them all. Cillian's old room as a boy. But closest to the bathroom. He had a problem when he was much younger." Mary whispered.
Cillian groaned, "God."
Gabrijela giggled as they came into the fairly large room. A huge double bed that faced the wall lined french doors that led to a small balcony. There was a guitar in the corner, a table with neatly stacked books and sheets of what looked like music sheets.
"His room was the biggest as he liked to practice his music and write them to," Mary said.
"He writes music?" Gabrijela raised a brow. "You didn't tell me that."
"Yeah, and you left out the part you are in a band." He poked back at her. She rolled her eyes.
"You're in a band? Interesting. Two music lovers. Could be a perfect couple." Mary let out a soft laugh.
Gabrijela blushed.
"Now under this big bed is a spare mattress. I'd pull it out but my back is aching." She said. "All sheets are made. Towels in the wardrobe. But... Make yourself at home." Mary smiled.
"Much appreciated." She said, taking her hands. "I might take a shower if that's fine. I feel icky." She said.
"Of course! Don't worry about making to much noise. We all sleep like the dead." She laughed. "Cillian, since you are the eldest, help your poor mama with the dishes." She said and headed out.
Gabrijela smirked, "I'm going to take a shower. Join me, hm?" She pressed herself against him, kissing his neck.
"I'll be quick." He groaned softly, his hands cupped her ass and squeezed it.
They parted. She took a moment to unpack her things. They would be here for more than three days it seemed, into the new year. She unpacked his clothing too, hanging it up with the other items he had left.
Then she grabbed her pyjamas and towel and went into the bathroom. She was told the attic was converted into a wonderful room for the kids to all sleep in. One of the girls wanted to show her tomorrow.
Cillian's parents slept downstairs as well as his brother, his sisters upstairs on the other side of the house.
As she began to undress a knock came at the door, "Who is it?"
"It's me." Cillian's voice.
She came over and unlocked it, letting him in. "That was quick." She said.
"Uh, yeah. Only had to put things away." He said, grabbing her by the hips and pulled her flush against his body.
"Cillian-" She was cut off by the hard kiss. She wasn't naked yet but he helped her undress her bra and panties before he was naked as well. He walked her into the shower. It was big enough for two people.
As they got wet, he kissed her. He hadn't broken the kiss even as he had walked in with her. She was surprised at the desperation he had for her, how hard he felt against her.
Tonight was the night, she thought. Despite being in his own family home, he would take her.
He touched her in the shower, one leg cocked up to his hip as he pushed two fingers into her. Her sweet moan filled his ears, he would ready her.
"I don't have a condom," He said against her ear, if she was not okay with him going bareback then he would not take her. He would stick to her boundaries.
"It's fine," She said breathlessly, "I'm on the pill." She held back a cry when his thumb began to do its familiar circle around her clit.
"Sure?" He kissed her, dragging out her bottom lip.
"I'm sure Cillian. I want you. Tonight." She bucked her hips. "I have wanted you for a long time."
"I can say the same." He thrust his fingers fast inside her, kissing her and swallowing up her cries as she came on them. Then they did a speedy clean up, unable to stop kissing each other as they left the bathroom in their towels to their room.
Gabrijela moved into the middle of the bed, getting under the sheets and he joined her. He rolled on top of her, her arms going around his neck as they locked into another passionate kiss.
He had music playing, just to be sure to cancel out any noises. He let out a groan as he felt her slender fingers around his cock, "Gab." He murmured.
"Closer, baby." She whispered. He lowered his hips and let out a soft hiss when he felt her rub the head of his cock along her slit. She moaned softly, teasing herself with him.
He brought a hand down to grip himself, "Hold on to me, darling."
She could feel him trembling, his lips wobbled a little. She placed her hands back on his shoulders.
She held his gaze, his face shadowed but not too much that she could not see.
"My Cillian," She whispered.
And then he lowered himself, sliding into her with slow ease of his hips.
He let out a groan, it had been a long time since he felt the warmth of a woman. He gripped the sheets, his hips now locked with hers. He let out a shaky breath. He watched her face.
Gabrijela let out soft whimpers of pleasure, his cock spreading her and filling her to the brim. Sex was always amazing, the feeling of a cock in her. But Cillian... He was different. There was meaning to this. All of this. He was not taking her just for the sake of sex. She could see there was more.
And she felt the same. But she was hesitant about that 'further' bit. But right now, she would not dwell on it.
"Gabrijela?" His ragged voice brought her back. "Tell me you're okay."
"I am fine, Cillian. Oh, so, so fine." She pulled him down to kiss him. And that was when he started to move.
Slow, deep movements, his hips rolled into hers. In and out. Sliding, stretching her. Each dive of his hips sent electricity through her body.
She arched her back when he did so, his head was tucked into her neck as his arms were around her holding her tight to his body. He still trembled.
She clung to him, she could feel his sinewy muscles in his shoulders shift and tense as his body worked to pleasure her.
She then moved her arms to wrap around his waist a little, gripping him there as her legs spread wider for him.
With the building of the intense pleasure, their bodies became slick with sweat. He was growing more rougher, his grunts a wonderful song to her ears. Curses left both their now swollen lips from how much they kissed and still kissed. But sloppily.
Her hands roamed over his perfect body, touching him, memorising the stiffness, the angles, the dips and curves.
Cillian did the same, loving how her body was mesmerising. She was full and curvy, her body arching as he dove deep within her soul. He sat back a little, one hand beside her head. He held her leg up to his hip, the position making him go deeper than ever.
"Cillian!" She gasped, those pretty pink lips parted from the utter bliss he gave her. He made her feel this.
She dug her nails into his shoulders, looking down. The sheets had fallen back. His body outlined by the moonlight from outside. She could see how they were connected. How perfect their bodies seemed to fill each curve.
Like a missing puzzle piece.
Now Cillian was kneeling back, he held her legs wide and hooked over his arms as he held her thighs. She was lifted off the bed a little.
She let out a loud whine, he was going more deeper than ever. His cock reaching her special spot that his fingers could not.
She threw back her head, gripping the metal bars of the bedhead as she was thrown upwards from how hard he was fucking her.
The air was hot, sizzling and electric. Nothing could stop them, nothing could stop him as he ravaged her body with those delicate yet sinful hands. And his cock, which pumped in and out of her.
Her breasts bounced, the bed shaking a little.
His moans were growing louder despite him being quite quiet. He was getting close, he could feel it. The need to finish. But he wanted to hold out, he wanted her to finish on him. He wanted her to drag out his climax.
Gabrijela could not think of anyone but him. But the pleasure he doused her soul, her heart, her everything. She was close, her body was tensing up as she was ready to crash down.
"Keep going, Cillian. Oh!" She managed to gasp out. She could not form words at all, only moans and unintelligible sounds. Sounds she never knew that could come from her.
"Aw, fuck!" He cursed, voice cracking a little. He went harder, the sound of skin to skin filled the scorching air between them.
"Ah... Ah... Ah! Cillian! CILLIAN! OH GOD CILLIAN!" She drawled out his name in a loud, fantastic cry which he dropped her and claimed her lips in a kiss.
He thrust wildly, his climax ripping through him as he pounded into her and finished inside her. He gripped her undulating body to his, holding his hips to hers as he came and came.
Their moans mixed within their kiss, as he held her. They did not part from each other. Totally locked in. Body to body.
He did not want to part from her just yet, neither did she. His head dropped into the curve of her shoulder.
Their ragged breaths were the only sounds now left with the soft music which had dipped to a soft, gentle melody. As if the sound was easing them from the high they just experience.
Finally, Cillian rolled off her and laid on his back. They were a mess, a sweaty, flushed mess.
Gabrijela looked up at the ceiling, her breathing slowly coming back to normal. She could feel his warmth within her, it would leak out soon. She turned her head slowly, only to meed his eyes.
He reached up and touched her cheek, he looked so hot, his lips parted, cheeks red as sweat beaded on his forehead and his hair sticking to it.
"Gab..." He said breathlessly. "Gab talk to me." He said when she didn't reply.
She smiled, "Cilly," She murmured, groaning as she moved to her side and laid half on top of him. She kissed him softly.
"Tell me how you feel." He tangled his hand in her hair, his other hand on her waist. "I didn't hurt you, did I?" He rubbed his nose against hers.
"No. You didn't." She laid a hand on his chest, playing with his chest hair a little. "You gave me so much pleasure there are no words to describe how I am feeling after it all."
He laughed softly, "You might feel it in the morning." He nipped her lip.
"You that confident you fucked me that good, hm?" She nuzzled his nose.
"Totally." He squeezed her side.
"I can so agree with that. You did a wonderful job Cillian. I... I enjoyed it. All of it. I'd ride you but I'm so exhausted." She laid down on him.
"A satisfied woman gives me the greatest pleasure. Especially if it's you." He pulled up the sheets. Now the air had sizzled away, it grew cold.
"Such a flirt." She hummed.
"I'm grateful I made you feel good, Gabrijela. That's all I want to do. Make you happy. Feel utter bliss. My greatest goal is to make you feel like a queen." His words were soft, shy. But he was serious about it.
"You make me feel more than a queen, Cillian. You make me feel lots of things. They haven't invented the fucking words for it." She repeated a line from him.
He chuckled, "When you plan something well, there's no need to rush." He said it in his Tommy Shelby voice.
She had shivers, "So I was a plan, hm?" She looked up at him.
"Not exactly," He kissed her, "In a way. But you were more a... surprise. A real, good surprised that I am thoroughly pleased with."
She smiled and kissed him back before she laid her head back down and got comfy.
"As are you, Cillian. A surprised I had not expected." She murmured, eyes shutting as her satisfied body succumbed to exhaustion.
