60 Sec Rec: The Expanse
Hundreds of years in the future, humans have colonized the solar system and Mars has become an independent military power. A missing person links an asteroid belt detective, the captain of an ice freighter and a diplomat trying to avert a war. [Rotten Tomatoes & Netflix]
Detective Miller is in a futuristic-noir, a cop tasked with finding wayward heiress turned political activist Julie Mao.
James Holden and crew are in an action/adventure in space, the everyday guys who go from the frying pan to the fire.
Chrisjen Avasarala, UN Security Council member, is in a political thriller, trying to avoid a war and figure out who she can trust in the government.
A bit of Blade Runner/Total Recall, a bit of Alien, a bit of Battlestar Galactica, as the show progresses these storylines intersect and the genres mix. Characters don't become found family but a forged one; forged in near death experiences, impossible choices, secrets kept and shared, and even some romances (not all requited).
This show can fit SO MANY BLORBOS. Also polyamory! one of the leads has 8 parents, and a recurring character, who is the love of my life, is in a poly relationship later in the show. The actors are fantastic (Tipper has an episode in one of the later seasons that's a tour de force. She's tremendous), and the set design and costumes are gorgeous.
The ship names (I mean actual ships here) are so cool too: Rocinante, Guy Molinari, Scipio Africanus... a nice bit of trivia.
It is so, so, so GOOD. You have to give it some time at the start because you might need a while to 'get settled' in this universe, but don't worry because it's a rich story but not a dense one. It's also not grimdark; bad things do happen, and there are losses and casualties, but it's not a cruel show. It won't laugh at you for caring.
Developed by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Children of Men, Iron Man) based on the book series by James S. A. Corey (pseudonym for Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck). Written by the novelists and mostly new writers. Directed by Breck Eisner (Fear Itself), Jeff Woolnough (Vikings), Terry McDonough (Better Call Saul)... Starring Thomas Jane, Steven Strait, Cas Anvar, Dominique Tipper, Wes Chatham, Florence Faivre, Shawn Doyle, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Frankie Adams, Cara Gee, Keon Alexander, Jasai Chase Owens, Nadine Nicole, David Strathairn, Jared Harris...

The absurdity and stupidity of all shitflix cancelations lies in one simple question: How many of those canceled shows have you actually heard of before they got canceled?
- Warrior Nun - never heard of it until the moment I started seeing its fans spamming every shitflix post. And that was its second season. It had two seasons, for fucks sake, and most of us have never heard of it. You wanna know whose fault that is? Let me give you a hint. No, it's not the viewing numbers.
- First Kill (or whatever its name is) - Never heard of it until, once again, I saw people complaining about the cancelation under shitflix posts. Once again, guess whose fault that is.
- Santa Clarita Diet - Never heard of it. Didn't even know it was canceled until it made it to the list of pissed of people counting how many of them they axed. Whose fault is that?
- Inside Job - Yeah, never heard of it until it got canceled. Also, canceled after they renewed it. Shitflix: guess we changed our minds.
- Archive 81 - Heard of it when the cancelation was announced.
- The OA - Remember just hearing about it through the fog, even though it came out years ago.
- Sense 8 - know about it only thanks to fans' videos and fanart. I don't remember shitflix ever mentioning it.
- Lockwood & Co - I know about it thanks to fans spamming posts asking for renewal news.
And the list goes on with, I assume, shows I have never heard of.
I've never seen any of these shows, but my open wound is 1899 that I believe got treated the dirtiest of them all.
I have heard of it two years before the premiere, thanks to a 50 seconds long teaser that got me patiently waiting for years because it was my cup of tea. It came from the people who proved themselves before by creating a critically acclaimed show that you can find on a top 10 list of greatest shows of all time. Those people have spent years developing a new filming technique for shitflix. What a way to say thank you.
8 out of 10 people around me have seen 1899. Those people haven't even seen GoT or LotR for fucks sake, the most famous show and movie ever, but they have seen 1899. But not because shitflix promoted it, but because people did.
There was zero promotion, zero cast interviews, zero mentions after the release. It was still watched and talked about by so many people. It has more viewing hours than their hit shows running for 3+ seasons put together. It's a show you can't just binge and forget, you have to actually turn your fucking brain on. It was released in the most busy time of the year, during the damn World Cup and winter holidays. It was still number one for weeks. It was given less than 30 days. They decided to cancel it before it even premiered. They deleted the trailer with 10+ million views from YT.
The same goes with other shows. I have seen zero cast interviews, zero promotion or mentions by their own platform and they still have loyal fan bases that didn't stop talking about them.
But then you have dogshit shows like the Night agent that is getting hyped by shtflix every single fucking day. Fake numbers, pumped up to get people to watch a generic, a hundred times seen before, piece of crap. It got more hype than fucking GoT, and yet I know zero people who have actually watched it. Yep, there is no one I know, in real life or online, that has actually watched this show. So you figure it out.
People who have watched the shows I've mentioned probably have the statistics for them, and have probably seen the viewing hours being blamed for it, which was bullshit.
The latest nail in the coffin was Lockwood & Co. They kept fans waiting for months, and then they announced the cancelation during Eurovision so that fans wouldn't be able to go viral about it because everyone talked about fucking Eurovision.
Shitflix has canceled 26 sci-fi/fantasy shows in the last 3 years. 26! Do you all remember when we couldn't even name 26 shows of all genres put together, let alone watch them?
What all these shows had in common is that they were original and more or less unique and creative, not something you can find at least 6 copies of in either streaming or network TV.
It's like they created all these shows just so they can cancel them, because they are doing their best to actually burn every trace they ever existed.
Shitflix is killing creativity in every form, but in the end, that will be their undoing.

Florence + the Machine cover No Doubt's "Just A Girl" for "YELLOWJACKETS"
SHOWTIME has released the official trailer for season two of the Emmy-nominated drama “YELLOWJACKETS.” The season two trailer also marks the release of Florence + The Machine’s exclusive new single “Just A Girl,” a cover of No Doubt’s iconic song from 1995. The single is produced by Florence Welch and Mark Bowen of IDLES.
Tumblr media
Season two of “YELLOWJACKETS” will debut on demand and on streaming Friday, March 24 for all SHOWTIME subscribers, before making its on-air debut on Sunday, March 26 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Season one, which has a rare 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and received seven Emmy nominations, averaged over 5 million weekly viewers across platforms and was the second-most streamed series in SHOWTIME history. “YELLOWJACKETS” is produced for SHOWTIME by studio Entertainment One (eOne).
“I’m such a huge fan of ‘YELLOWJACKETS’ and this era of music, and this song especially had a huge impact on me growing up, so I was thrilled to be asked to interpret it in a ‘deeply unsettling’ way for the show,” says Florence Welch. “We tried to really add some horror elements to this iconic song to fit the tone of the show. And as someone whose first musical love was pop punk and Gwen Stefani it was a dream job.”

Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson (Narcos), “YELLOWJACKETS” is the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over. In season two, two months have passed since Shauna gave Jackie the cold shoulder— to disastrous results. In the face of their deepening hunger and fear, the tension among our Yellowjackets has only grown worse. The harsh conditions of winter are intensifying by the day, and the psyches of our survivors are deteriorating just as fast. Threatened by the darkness of the wilderness— and the haunting memories of it in the present— our former state champs will be forced to make impossible decisions. As they confront the horrible truth of what survival entails, the real nightmare for each of them will be to figure out who they are— and what they are willing to sacrifice in order to stay alive.
Equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story and coming-of-age drama, “YELLOWJACKETS” stars Emmy nominee and Critics Choice Award winner Melanie Lynskey (Castle Rock), Oscar® and Emmy nominee Juliette Lewis (Camping), Emmy nominee Christina Ricci (Z: The Beginning of Everything) and Tawny Cypress (Unforgettable). Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under, Servant) and Simone Kessell (Obi-Wan Kenobi) have also joined the second season as series regulars, along with Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings trilogy) in a season-long guest arc. Season two also stars Sophie Nélisse (The Book Thief), Jasmin Savoy Brown (The Leftovers), Sophie Thatcher (Prospect),  Samantha Hanratty (SHAMELESS), Courtney Eaton (Mad Max: Fury Road), Liv Hewson (Santa Clarita Diet), Steven Krueger (The Originals), Warren Kole (Shades of Blue) and Kevin Alves. “YELLOWJACKETS” is executive produced by Lyle, Nickerson and fellow showrunner Jonathan Lisco. Drew Comins of Creative Engine serves as executive producer along with Ameni Rozsa, Sarah L. Thompson and Karyn Kusama who directed the pilot.

@jupitermelichios replied to your post “Reblog if you saw a gifset of Natalie Morales being gay and were like...”
@morethanonepage is it any good? the trailer i saw was really bad but i couldn't work out if it was a badly made trailer or a decent trailer for a badly made show!
I liked it a lot! It deals with a lot of Heavy Stuff (grief, emotional abuse, toxic relationships, anger issues, miscarriages, trauma) but it has a lot of really well rounded and complex characters who have great chemistry with each other. It’s much darker in tone than Santa Clarita Diet but it scratches a very similar itch for me -- devoted ride-or-die relationships between decent if complicated people (also realtors, apparently that’s the only job characters on netflix comedies can have lmfao), and it’s one hell of a found family exploration. I also think it’s very cleverly plotted: how the second season is a reflection of the dynamics of the first is very satisfying. And there’s a lot of growth and catharsis from most of the characters, which I respect.
It also does something way too few shows do, but that I always respect: it has peripheral characters who float in and out of the main character’s lives but always seem like fully fleshed out, real people with their own lives, that aren’t just there to function as plot points. I think most of the side characters in this show feel like they could be the main characters of their own show and be just as interesting.

Hiya so just wanted to swing by and ask for your suggestion on any shows I could dive into, just started killing eve and I’m super into it, but I’m almost all caught up so I was wondering if you have any suggestions for me, pleaseee
hey!!! oh killing eve is crazy awesome. glad you're enjoying it. I'm a big fan of paranormal shows or shows with some fantasy aspect in them so that's what I'll recommend. sorry if that's not your genre.
anyways, just started watching sleepy hollow yesterday and really like it. it has supernatural elements and I'm already kinda shipping the main characters together. absolutely give it a try!!
also watched couple of episodes of the shannara chronicles. it was good but not one of those shows that make you want to keep watching.
definitely recommend watching the Outlander. time travel. amazing story.
American gods. a must watch.
Shadowhunters. I had my issues with this but it's a good show and oh lord I would die for my girl isabelle.
Lucifer. love it. just go watch if you haven't already.
The 100. I think it's pretty clear from my blog that I love that show. if you've already watched it then go watch The Society. kinda similar to t100. apocalypse vibes.
Bodyguard. I absolutely have to mention this. only six episode but Richard madden stole the show.
Siren. absolutely phenomenal. a very healthy and amazing poly relationship.
Santa Clarita Diet. my comfort show. whenever I need a laugh or just need to be happy, that's what I watch. amazing relationships!!!!!
Future Man. it's so hilariously crazy and has time travel where people's dicks get switched with each other. so yeah go watch.
Blindspot. crime and mystery not supernatural. love the storyline.
Vikings. brutal. sorta like GoT but without the fantasy aspects. I mean there are prophecies and shit but not like got.
Manifest. really like it. mystery. I mean what's not to like about a flight taking off and then landing five years later but without any of the people on the plane aging a day.
lol I think I got carried away. oopsies. anyways just gonna recommend two shows that haven't aired yet but I'm really looking forward to: the witcher & his dark materials. you should watch them when they air. watch the trailers.
ooh and doctor who. how could I forget my very first love. it has literally everything. family. time & space travel. aliens. love. creepy things. and one super old time lord.
ALSO,
scandal.
the arrow.
big little lies.
the good place.
black mirror.
true detective.
veronica mars.
once upon a time.
Jessica Jones.
a series of unfortunate events.
imposters.
westworld.

Mature Muppet Noir THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS Happily Receives R-Rating
When you think of film being rated R, it usually doesn’t involve puppets unless you’re into that kind of thing (no judgement). However, when it comes to the upcoming Henson Alternative The Happytime Murders, an R-rating is not only expected, but absolutely necessary.
The Happytime Murders, which has been in development and production hell since 2008, finally got its R-rating this week as well as some outrageous and overly positive feedback on the red band trailer that premiered during the Las Vegas CinemaCon. The trailer was introduced by STX Films chairman Adam Fogelson and promptly described by audience as filthy, graphic and full of Sex. Lots and lots of sex.
You know the film is the real deal because it’s being directed by Brian Henson, son of Jim and Jane, a skilled puppeteer, technician, producer, and chairman of The Jim Henson Company.  The Happytime Murders is being produced under Henson Alternative, a branch of the company responsible for more adult content such as Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal.
The Happytime Murders centers around a puppet private eye, Phil Phillips (played by Bill Barretta, who has worked on almost every Muppet movie ever). His character is a hardened pariah ex-cop, hot on the trail of a serial killer that he believes murdered his brother and now targets stars of an 80’s television series, The Happytime Gang. He’ll have to team up with a human partner played by the hysterical Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids, Spy) in order to catch the murderer before its too late. Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids, Grownups), Joel McHale (Community, Santa Clarita Diet), Leslie David Baker (The Office, Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie), and Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games, Pitch Perfect) will also star alongside a variety of velvety cast mates pulling together the ultimate dirty comedic ensemble. Think Who Framed Roger Rabbit? meets Team America: World Police, with a splash of Scorcese. It’s the perfect entertainment cocktail.
The question must be asked: Is it wrong to get excited about seeing a character resembling Fozzie Bear stabbing someone in the stomach, or to see a character like Miss Piggy getting boned? Probably, But we’re horror fans and that means anything goes, even the medium by which we receive our violence.
If I may say, this is a brilliant, if anything, respectfully brave endeavor concerning everyone involved. It could not have been easy to pitch this idea to anyone in the film industry back around 2008. However, the genre we stand by so fiercely is one of the single categories of film that is arguably constantly changing and evolving with the time. This combination of actors, puppets, animatronics, and real visual effects to portray heavy noir and murderous material might sound silly at first, but it’s different and that is something we look for as film consumers. Most of the time we’re praying for it.
Whats interesting is that back in 2009, Lisa Henson (Brian’s sister) commented on expanding this human and puppet film universe further past The Happytime Murders to incorporate a variety of genres from comedy to full-on horror. With the recent successes of rated-R movies like Deadpool, Logan, and IT, an R-rating stamped on this “neo-noir-puppet-comedy-thriller” means it’s serious. The reaction to Muppet-like puppets having their brains shot out and dropping F-bombs in the red band trailer might mean that skeptics will have to put a sock in it until it’s released (get it?) and critics as well as audiences can decide if puppets might be here to stay. Guess we don’t have to worry about A.I.’s replacing humans. Actually, puppets might be scarier..PROOF
So, the MPAA rating is marked on The Happytime Murders, which heeds a great warning to parents: This is not The Great Muppet Caper. Should you make the mistake of allowing your child to see it, you’ll be having a very uncomfortable silly string analogy discussion with them.

Selena: Release Date and Trailer for Netflix Series with The Walking Dead’s Christian Serratos
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
Popular-music-focused dramatizations have found new life, thanks to recent cinematic offerings like Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman, with many more currently on the industry docket. It’s a notion that Netflix might have taken into consideration with a television project it just unveiled, set to chronicle the story of Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, the 1990s-era Mexican-American crossover pop sensation whose rise was tragically cut short upon being murdered by her friend and agent.
The Walking Dead‘s Christian Serratos temporarily put aside the zombie apocalypse to star on the Netflix television offering, titled Selena: The Series. The show is being released in “parts” (rather than seasons), with Part 1 arriving with six 1-hour episodes. Serratos – who’s played Rosita Espinoza on the AMC series since 2014 – has major shoes to fill, not just because of the loftiness of portraying the still-beloved singer, but also because of director Gregory Nava’s 1997 Selena film, which elevated star Jennifer Lopez to A-list status.
Selena: The Series Release Date
Selena: The Series is set to hit Netflix on Friday, December 4.
Selena: The Series Trailer
A new teaser for Netflix’s Selena: The Series arrives on the occasion of its release date reveal.
The series came right out of the gate back in November 2019 with its first teaser, which briefly showed off its just-announced star, Christian Serratos, looking ever the uncanny facsimile of the eponymous singer.
Selena: The Series Story
As the official logline for Netflix’s Selena: The Series reads:
“[Selena: The Series is] a coming of age story following Selena Quintanilla as her dreams come true and all the heart-wrenching and life-changing choices she and her family have to make as they navigate success, family, and music.”
Besides being a character study, the series also seems to be showcase in what could have been, since Selena was on the verge of a mainstream crossover when, on March 31, 1995, she was fatally shot by her friend, agent and fan club manager, Yolanda Saldívar, in a hotel room meeting at a Corpus Christi Days Inn. Selena was only 23.
Selena: The Series Cast
Netflix’s Selena: The Series has added seven more cast members, as reported by Deadline.
Set as series regulars are the following:
Julio Macias (On My Block) will play Pete Astudillo, “a charming singer and member of a two-man band known as Los Bad Boys, who is discovered along with Joe Ojeda and ultimately helps write a few of Selena’s most popular songs.”
Jesse Posey (First Love, Stitchers) will play Chris Perez, “the eventual lead guitarist who develops a relationship with Selena but will have to learn that there’s more to winning her heart and being accepted into the family.”
Hunter Reese Peña (Morning Ritual) will play Ricky Vela, “a talented keyboard player who hesitates to join the band at first, becomes one of A.B.’s most important collaborators, earning his trust as they compose hits for Selena.”
Carlos Alfredo, Jr. (Mutt and Chopps) will play Joe Ojeda, “the second keyboard player who joins the band as Selena y Los Dinos begins to grow.”
The following will serve as recurring cast members:
Juan Martinez (Triple Frontier, Edge of the World) as Young A.B, “[who] helps his father, Abraham, assemble the family’s first band and also discovers his own abilities as a musician.”
Daniela Estrada as Young Suzette, “a reluctant musician who accepts her role in her family’s band as their drummer.”
Paul Rodriguez, Jr. (The Curse of La Llorona) as Roger Garcia, “a shy guitarist for Los Dinos in their early years, who struggles to stay in the band as life on the road becomes more demanding.”
…They will join the first batch of officially-announced cast members, who consist of the following:
Christian Serratos (The Walking Dead, Twilight) will play Selena Quintanilla, an incredibly talented and charming young woman from South Texas, who chases her musical aspirations with her family and becomes one of the most successful Latin artists of all time.
Gabriel Chavarria (War for the Planet of the Apes, The Purge) will play A.B. Quintanilla, Selena’s oldest brother and the band’s music producer, who constantly faces the pressure to deliver hits and ultimately forges the band’s trailblazing signature sound.
Ricardo Chavira (Desperate Housewives, Santa Clarita Diet, Scandal) will play Abraham Quintanilla, Selena’s father, a savvy musician whose encouragement of his children to work hard and dream big leads them to achieve global superstardom.
Noemi Gonzalez (The Young and the Restless, East Los High) will play Suzette Quintanilla, Selena’s sister and best friend, who learns to embrace her role as the first female drummer in Tejano music history.
Seidy Lopez (Training Day) will play Marcella Quintanilla, Selena’s mother and the cohesive, nurturing force in the family, who believes in achieving their dreams against all odds.
Madison Taylor Baez will play Young Selena, a happy-go-lucky child who learns what it takes to become an artist from her father.
As Jaime Davila, president and co-founder of Campanario Entertainment, expresses of the cast in a statement:
“Selena is an inspirational figure who’s transcended generations. At Campanario, we’ve always known it was crucial for this series to find actors with the right mix of talent, charisma, and passion to honor Selena’s legacy and the story of her family. Our casting director Carla Hool and her team have found an amazing cast to depict the Quintanilla family, and we’re sure fans everywhere will be captivated yet again by Selena’s incredible life.”
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
The series will be produced under the purview of executive producers Jaime Dávila, Rico Martinez, Suzette Quintanilla, Simran A. Singh and Moisés Zamora.

Recommendations for the soul
omg, it’s been ages since I posted something. When I started this I said to myself, ‘right, now that school has finished, I have all the time in the world to write posts and keep up to date with posting regularly, maybe post 2-3 times a week!.’ yeah, no. that did not happen. Instead, I spent my time watching Netflix, TV shows mostly but the occasional film. So today, I am going to share TV shows that I watch currently or have watched in the past that I highly recommend.
ALL OF THESE SHOWS ARE ON UK NETFLIX APART FROM MODERN FAMILY.
TV shows
Pretty Little Liars - this show is known by basically everyone. For those who may not know about it, it has a good variety of genres, mystery, romance, thriller, crime, comedy. I think this show is one that would be described as ‘a girl’s show’, the beginning is a but teen and awkward acting, but when I started watching it, I did not care. People get hooked on it so fast and it is so enticing, however, like the summer of 2014, I binge watched it the whole of summer and I did get pretty sick of it as it got quite predictable at times, but give it time and damn. Pll has officially finished now but it is still a great watch for anyone who likes any genre.
Orphan Black - this show is v hard to explain. Click for the trailer. It’s about clones, so Tatiana Maslany (the actress of all the clones) is a goddess, and how they are trying to find out who made them and why they are being hunted. I fell in love with all thr characters so easily and it is very hard to stop watching. It can be quite grusome and explicit at times but it just adds to the story. It genuinely is really hard to explain without giving too much away, so watch the trailer and if you’re interested, watch the first episode and I guarentee that you will want episode 2. If you watch this, attention is needed like a lot, because they refer back to things in season 4 that happened in season 2. But super duper worth the work.
Friends - now this is the most classic comedy, romance, drama show ever. If you don’t know what it is then you have not lived, and when you do watch it, you’ll finally understand all those jokes your friends made and all the quotes on memes you’ve seen.WATCH IT. Even if you’ve already watched it a thousand times before, watch it again, and again, and again.
The Big Bang Theory - I would say that the set up of this show is similar to Friends, a solid group of friends, a well known apartment, a regular meet up place etc. So if you’re into chilled shows with comedy and science, this will tick your boxes.
Bates Motel - drama, mystery, thriller, crime, romance, this is what will be found at the Bates Motel. This show is based off the classic thriller film, Psycho. It has been majorly spread out over like 3 seasons, but it shows Norman Bates before the ending of the film. It shows how his mental health showly gets worse and when it started and why etc. With the addition of his brother, Dylan, and friend, Emma, the audience can really connect with Norman and Norma as their lives are shown. It’s quite haunting as Norman is cray cray for taxidermy, but I got used to it quite quickly. A good watch, but needs attention as I forgot things that they mention like season 1.
Teen Wolf - i find this show really enjoyable, the first couple of seasons are... they aren’t slow, but it’s just all quite basic, like ‘oh look, another fight. yep, he’s a wolf too, cool.’ but it is still amazing. It starts to pick up at season 3, season 4 is kinda like ‘how they gonna fix this mess?’, season 5 is like ‘woah, there’s a shit load of new creatures, like damn.’ and season 6 (final season) is like ‘well shit. there is now way they are fixing this mess.’ It is all incredible and all the actors and actresses are pretty sweet (on the eyes). Comedy is included, and it will make you cry at some point.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine - similar set up to The Big Bang theory and Friends as being a sit-com, it is really enjoyable, i am currently watching it for the third time. Each episode is like a different scenario, i know thats the same with every show but this show is about cops and each episode is a different case. The characters are awesome and the actors play their parts so well. Comedy is the #1 genre, but there is drama and mystery (some). It for real is hilarious though! watch watch watch.
Modern Family - this show is seriously the best, just having all the different connections with each character and the diversity. I love it so much. It’s like a scripted reality show, there isn’t much I can say about it as it doesn’t really have a plot line, it’s just one huge family each with their own story. 100 percent, watch.
Parks and Recreation - similar to Modern Family in the sense of the filming technique, the characters look at the camera and they have interviews. Again is so funny and amazing and there’s just all humour types for everybody. Also, everyone will love Ron Swanson. (Sidenote: Chris Pratt stars in it which might intice a few).
Those are the main shows that I’ve watched before that I loved the most, but I am going to label some editional ones quickly that can’t go unmentioned.
13 Reasons Why - this heartbreaking show about a girl who commits suicide tells her story of what led to her decision. like srsly, your heart will melt.
Merlin - based in Camelot with Prince/King Arthur and the Knights of the round table, this show is legit, all about the magic. Main character is Merlin who has to keep his magic a secret from the royal family as it is against the law, and punishable by death, Slight hiccup, he is a servant for Arthur. Humour, romance, drama, fantasy, mystery.
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air - this show is so hilarious, the personality of Will is amazing and something that I think a small part of everyone can relate to. A great chilled out watch for people who love old shows.
H20: Just Add Water - now i know this is a ‘childs’ show, and i did watch it in my childhood, but because it wasn’t when I was like 2, I remembered it and have re-watched it since. It’s basically about three girls that get turned into mermaids and have to keep it a secret from everyone they know, one problem, they can’t touch water. #dilemma
Sherlock - this show is amazing! i cannot stress enough how good this is. I haven’t watched it in ages because it finished, but it’s just Sherlock Holmes being savage af and solving crimes in the process. Mystery, drame, thriller, comedy, romance, oh hell no moments, Benedict Cumberbatch. It is the whole package.
iZombie - I have been a dedicated watcher of this show for ages, and i love season 1 and 2, but season 3 just didn’t do it for me. It got a bit too confusing and lost what they had is the first seasons. I mean, don’t get me wrong, the last episode of season 2 i was like ‘omg damn, what’s gonna happen now, this is such a cliffhanger omg i must know’ and then i googled when the next season was out, but now that the third and final season has finished i’m kinda like ‘hmm, i think i would’ve been okay leaving at season 2′. So i highly recommend season 1 and 2 for sure.
Now I’m just gonna write titles of shows that should definately be watched by everyone ever
Bad Education - comedy based in a british secondary school with Jack Whitehall as the main character (so you know it’s gonna be good).
Santa Clarita Diet - a woman becomes a zombie and tried to figure out how to deal with it, comedy, drama, mystery.
Outnumbered - sit-com about a british family of three children with the two parents that are now, outnumbered.
Scream - 100 percent mystery, thriller, crime, horror. best thing to ever happen ever and total shocker. Based off the classic film, Scream.
American Horror Story - I’ve only watched season 1, 2 and 3 (Murder House, Asylum and Coven), i really enjoyed them and have re-watched them. Can be really creepy and weird, would not recommend watching in the dark.
Big School - sit-com in a british school, David Walliams stars as the weird teacher trying to date the new French teacher.
Once Upon a Time - literally combines every fairytale, classic novel etc. i really enjoyed it but i couldn’t bulk binge watch it as it would annoy me as it got somewhat predictable. #lol
Miranda - best little show ever, a woman living in Surrey trying to figure her life out. Comedian plays the role of Miranda and shows how i think everyone whats to live.
How I Met Your Mother - a show similar to Friends and The Big Bang Theory, Ted narrates each season to his children telling the story of how he met thier mother and the years before. I would definately recommend as there is a major plot twist on the very last episode that will make you super happy but also super sad.
Riverdale - this awesome show is about a murder that everyone gradually forgets about and then at the end is like ‘oh yea’, there is only one season so far with a gripping finishing episode. but another is coming soon. it looks like it’s set in the 80′s-90′s if they had iPhone 7′s. totally worth the watch.
The Wrong Man’s - a british comedy show written and produced by James Corden. two men are in the wrong place at the wrong time and their lives slowly but surely, fall apart. might watch again soon actually.
Now i’m finally done. I’ve genuinely just listed every tv show i’ve every watched. I of course love The Simpsons and Futurama, but I thought people would want to hear more about tv shows that aren’t cartoons... ya know.
I hope this helped anyone with their tough decision of what to watch next, and it’s summer now so there’s plenty of time.

Why did u like santa clara diet? I can never tell if im gonna like a show or not based on reviews/trailers so id just like to hear what u thought of it
dude i feel ya w that honestly i just force myself to watch the first three episodes and if i dont like it by then its like whats the point but i was rec’d this show by like three separate people and last night was the final straw
everything’s under the cut and there are no spoilers just in case you do watch it!! also i apologize im not a writer for a reason
before we get into this im just gonna say some bc this is technically a zombie show, some of the parts can be really gory and also shows body horror and there is quite a bit of swearing at times
so lets do a little, very cliche, synopsis first: the main character, sheila, and her husband, joel, are realtors living the quiet little suburban life with their daughter. suddenly their lives change when sheila undergoes a change which basically makes her a zombie but like she still retains herself (think that dude R from warm bodies ig) and follows her family’s journey with a wife and mother as a zombie and how they try to help her tl;dr basically the series focuses on how she and her husband become serial killers in order to get her food and the husbands quest for a cure and how the daughter feels like nothing matters bc of it
i love santa clarita diet humour!! im not sure if you’ve ever seen psych or mash, but scd is on that level!! timothy olyphant plays the husband and he takes on basically every white suburban pta mom stereotype (so he complains and hes caught up on the small things eg: why a container holding a dismembered person doesnt have a lid, and Supporting His Daughter) and sheila, played by drew barrymore, breaks like all of those stereotypes (shes kickass and always has the last say in everything and idk how to explain it but!! its so Refreshing honestly). the show is really witty and funny w/o being offensive and has a lot of small funny moments and amazing one-liners that i want to use in every conversation i have tbh no scratch that basically think the princess bride humour
i love it bc the show doesnt really have a plot or focus on zombies (ily twd),, like the plot is there but it isnt like in your face?? its literally just this family chillin w a zombie and living the best way they can?? they go through family problems not things that change the entire dynamic of the show like that their daughter is skipping school or they cant sell a house or something its great
idk scd is just a hilarious show that combines humour and killing people very nicely?? while still involving very trivial things?? its like a fanfiction and its amazing go watch it

What did you guys do this weekend?
I put away several loads of laundry. Got our wall calendar and my phone calendar and facebook events and school assignments all synched up and planned ahead - including logging my intern hours online. Went on a big ol’ grocery run, helped my oldest son plan a Spring Break trip (which involved online research, airline calls, and networking).  Also slept in both days, took a nap, caught up with an old friend on the phone, had great sex for the first time in what feels like forever, and watched the first 3 episodes of “Santa Clarita Diet” on Netflix. Cuddled with various kids in a nice hermit-y way. There were brownies, chocolate with hazelnuts, AND Haagen Dazs ice cream bars. A few of us spent awhile excitedly analyzing the Stranger Things Season 2 trailer for details, with lots of pausing and zooming.
I completely ignored the giant pile of dishes, as well as the homework that’s graaaaadually accumulating but is not yet an urgent issue. Regretfully missed my chance to use this weekend for a visit with someone who’s not always around to visit, and am gonna have to water plants before I leave in the morning. At least I get to start tomorrow “in the field,” rather than in the office - that buys me an extra hour of sleep and lets me skip rush hour.
I had multiple nightmares last night, about terrible doomsday warnings creeping on me via things appearing in and/or falling from, the sky. And, I’ve been feeling some real accumulating tension, this morning and again for the last few hours. There is just so much happening on so many levels - from my personal logistical shit to my family’s mental health shit and on to our financial woes of late, particularly re: our vehicles, and then on to terrifying political things happening left and right, and you know all I really (ever) want is emotional connection and intimacy, or to go swimming.

Quote
A few years ago sony pictures made a deal to lend Spider-Man to the MCU hence Spider-Man homecoming. But since then Sony has still been rather bitter or not, being able to make their own mark with their own cinematic universe so now they are trying to do something very new and very daring. They're going to try to make a Spider-Man less Spider-Man universe. I know that sounds weird but hear me out. They want to use other characters from the Spider-Man universe and build off of that and still be separate from the MCU. Now first I was just like okay maybe it's a joke too much coke perhaps.   Then they announced that their first movie was going to be Venom.  Clearly, I thought these guys really have lost their damn mind how are you going to do a Venom movie without Spider-Man I mean it's kind of the whole purpose of Venom existing if I'm perfectly honest. Then they went and cast Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. Hardy is literally one of the most bankable and best actors of our time so I guess they had to be serious. I had to take it a little more seriously if they were able to get him on for the film. I saw the first trailer where it was marketed more like a horror movie and I was just like okay, then they actually showed Hardy turn into venom and I was like oh s*** this is awesome, but then they announced a few weeks before its release it's going to be PG-13 and then I was like meh. I did lose a little bit of interest when they announced the PG-13 rating because we're talking about a character that literally eats people to survive at times and I have a weird feeling that when the DVD Blu-ray is ready there's going to be a rated R version but it seems like Sony wants to play it safe just in case the movie fails and Kevin Feige  can swoop in and Save the Day.  But anyway Here's Venom The Venom movie takes a lot of an adaptation from the Venom lethal predator comic book series. They play it very very loose but still at the same time faithful to the original material. Eddie Brock is a journalist in San Francisco with his fiance and he finds out that this company the life Foundation where they say they're working on rocket ships but Eddie already has his suspicions that they experiment on people and people died he tries to confront the head of the company and ends up getting castrated figuratively of course. Fired, his fiance leaves him and things are not looking good. But suddenly he gets a break and finds out there's a way to sneak into that lab and see what's going on. He did succeed at getting in but he ended up leaving out with a new friend the Symbiote who calls himself Venom. They were greeted by a great escape scene when he gets home. We're also greeted by some great new versions of dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde when it comes to the back-and-forth communication between Venom and Brock that we supposed to be funny but most of it is odd. Meanwhile, on the other side of the World, a symbiote by the name of Riot is trying to get back to space so he can bring more of his people back to take over the world. It was all beautiful and shit even the heavy 3rd act CGI fight that if you pause it at the right moment makes a badass screensaver. Here's where things fall apart a lil bit. Most of the dialogue in this movie is trash and it's really off like it's supposed to be funny but it's not and it's weird because the director Ruben Fleisher is good with this material. He's the director behind Zombieland, Gangster Squad, 30 minutes or less, Superstore and even the Santa Clarita diet which is f****** hilarious or Netflix. He has been able to deliver action, horror, dark comedy and dry humor. flawlessly. Let's look at the writers! Okay well, first we have Jeff Pinkner who was a writer and producer on the show Fringe and Alias both damn good shows. Then there's Scott Rosenberg who's most known as the writer for Con-Air and Gone in 60 Seconds it's bad when you're only known for Nicolas Cage movies. Then we have Kelly Marcel who's most known as the screenplay writer for 50 Shades of Grey well I see what's wrong here and I only have one thing to do. No, luckily the action sequences in this movie save it and it really does. Tom Hardy Superstardom saves this movie as well I don't think it's going to be as big as a success as Sony wants it to be. The opening weekend alone was 80 million dollars which is great but the problem is they're still in the hole because the budget for the film is a 100 million dollars. So they still have quite the uphill battle when it goes over to China maybe things will turn out better in the long run Iris Lee I do believe it's going to make it make its money back but it is it is it going to be profitable enough for Sony to start green-lighting a sequel which they've already woven into the storyline? Since at the end of the movie Eddie Brock has an interview with Cletus Cassidy who's already hinting at Carnage.  I mean you could go to theaters and check this out if you want or you can wait for it to come out in DVD believe it or not it's not a failure but it's also not great either it's okay, it's good.  FINAL GRADE C  Before you leave check out our latest podcast Amerime Junkies Podcast

Blockers
The trailer is hilarious (even just the title itself is amusing), so I was counting down the weeks until this came out. It ended up being pretty funny and entertaining! Three girls (Kathryn Newton, Geraldine Viswanathan, Gideon Adlon) make a sex pact to loose their virginity on prom night, and their parents (Leslie Mann, John Cena, and Ike Barinholtz respectively) try to cock-block them, chasing them from party to party.
The movie was full of a ton of hilarious one liners. I remember laughing, but I can't recall more than a couple jokes, which is not a good sign. With that said, the characters themselves were funny, and Viswanathan definitely stole the show. She had a dgaf/nerdy-but-cool attitude and was wearing a fun dress the whole movie. She was a tomboy as well, and I felt like I could relate to her, which I don't see very often. I'm excited to see her in the upcoming feature EGGPLANT EMOJI (and then in HALA, but I'm assuming her role is more dramatic there). Ike was also incredible, as he made faces that moved 100 mph and did five things at one time. I had higher hopes for Kathryn Newton due to BIG LITTLE LIES (and I guess THREE BILLBOARDS),  but she played a basic girl and didn't bring anything to it. I loved/hated Leslie Mann, as she's such a great actress but her character was just so damn selfish.
This was written by the Kehoe brothers, who are Paradigm clients. They're doing a pilot presentation that our client Griffin Gluck is in, which I am curious to read after seeing this. [EDIT: It’s a great comedy about a child actor growing out of his kid-show]. They were good about including current party trends and slang like butt chugging, and also had smart themes like female empowerment (not too many stories out there about girls trying to get laid) and had an LGBT couple as well. Adlon crushed on Ramona Young, who's character is so freakin' weird. Young plays a similar amazing role in the second season of SANTA CLARITA DIET, where she's a vampire/Walmart employee trying to manipulate Gisondo's character into dating just so he can help her cover her tracks. Apparently the script went through quite a few drafts to get here (there were three dads and all straight girls in the initial script), but the changes were definitely beneficial.
Kay Cannon's directing was fine-- got good performances but nothing special about the way it was shot. She did GIRLBOSS which was one of the first Netflix shows not to get a second season, wrote all the PITCH PERFECTs, and came from a strong comedy background (tested for SNL the year Kristin Wiig joined). I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and say she just needs more practice, as this was her directorial debut.
Overall, it's worth a watch, but I wouldn't rush out to see it in theaters. It's more like a Netflix, stream at home with friends, kind of flick.
