she never thought she’d be involved in a situation like this. (there are powers hewn into the seam of her pastel shirts – ones she can’t explain, and ones that the danvers’ family had brushed over for as long as she can remember – but if anyone’s going to stand in front of all these people, it has to be her.)

                                it settles it, then, what she’s going to do – she’s stronger than them, as the multiple smashed coffee mugs has shown, and there’s something about her that she won’t ever be able to explain, but – this is what she needs to do. make a difference. stop something terrible from happening to the city. (winn’s going to flip – not just because she’s putting herself in the jaws of danger, but – they’re flying. they’re… aliens. or something. humanoid – definitely humanoid. she sees the dark silhouette from across the square and suddenly cat grant’s latte doesn’t seem as important anymore.)

         sorry your latte was late, miss grant. i was trying to stop people from getting hurt. why me? because i can do… things… and i don’t know why. 

                  ‘don’t hurt these people -- please.'      one of them turns to her voice, and kara notes the thick coal across her cheeks and eyes. it's -- intimidating. no, scratch that. pretty terrifying. (but i can do things too.) 

           but the woman stops -- stares at her like she's missing something, or -- or like kara's missing something. dark hair. green eyes. familiar, but in a way she's never seen before. (now she's confused, and maybe a little less brave than before -- but the alien slows. she thinks she must be mirroring her expression.)
