marcus' spider backstory is he got bitten by one that was really venomous a few weeks before act 2 and spent a miserable few days embarrassing himself at the clinic. after that he can't even be comfortably in the same room as a house spider he HAS to kill it. anders insists on taking them outside while marcus watches suspiciously from a distance ready to save him from the vicious house spider if needed.
