Hey so PSA: with bird flu killing wild predators (owls, raptors, bobcats) we are already seeing an increase in mice populations. More mice = MORE LYME. This winter has already been abnormally warm (againnn) so I’m going to shout about this some more:
If it is ABOVE FREEZING, wear permethrin-treated clothing and then shower with a scrub brush afterwards. If you get flu-like symptoms after being outside and it’s not Covid, do NOT try to sleep it off. The bullseye rash is not a reliable-enough indicator. I did not get any kind of rash until well into week 2, and even then they looked more like red alcohol ink blots until week 3 (picture taken the day before I got hospitalized). It’s been 2.5 years and this motherfucker of an illness is STILL echoing through my body in really uncomfortable ways.
For the love of god, take prevention seriously 🙏🏼
#I cannot stress this enough: I GOT IT IN MY FUCKING YARDDDDD. it was planting season: I hadn’t done shit BUT garden the month before it hit#lyme disease#meanwhile in minnesota#also shout out to the other tick shit bc it’s not just Lyme these days#ticks
