So, I finally watched Saltburn and... why did you people lie?

Homoerotic subtext?

Homosexual undertones?

What in the actual fuck?

Did we miss the gay love confession where he begged Felix to love him back?

Did we miss the gay handjob? Did we miss the "or you could just fuck me" between TWO DUDES?

Did we miss the part where Oliver exhausted Farleigh in bed AND slept over????

Because I'm sure no one would call it "subtext" regarding the heterosexual mindfuck of whatever the fuck Oliver did with menstrual blood but somehow, an orgasm on screen isn't enough to convince us that there is in fact actual TEXT of the homosexuality of this film?

I went into the film thinking they'd be skirting around the issue of Oliver's feelings for Felix and pretending that Oliver only expressed overt interest in the women, but no. Instead the movie begins with the fucking question of whether or not Oliver was in love with Felix.

THIS IS NOT THE DEFINITION OF SUBTEXT.

It isn't subtext when the text is acknowledging it. It isn't subtext when the text is pointing at it and screaming about it and portraying it onscreen.
