So, I got a new laptop. Yay, I don't have to rely on the library loaner one anymore!
Huge thank you to everyone who chimed in when I asked for laptop buying advice - I ended up with an ASUS Zenbook. So far so good, I guess? Most of the things I need in a computer won't be evidence until I've been using it long term, but it is endearingly tiny.
Also, they were not kidding about the fancy OLED screen. Why are all the colors so BRIGHT?! It's a touch screen and I kind of live in fear of breaking it because my sibling has a touchscreen laptop that broke from getting a dent in the back of the casing.
And for whatever reason, the touchpad doubles as a number pad. Not sure what to make of that yet.

Cyberpede /u/Genius0o7 here for a Make Electronics Great Again MEGAthread!Anyone not living under a rock has seen American internet turn into a proto-Orwellian 1984-style push towards censorship and deplatforming of anyone not of the correct (read: leftist) opinion. feelsbadman.jpeg. So let's get to brass tax and HIT THEM IN THE POCKETBOOK. Demonitize the Behemoth through Free Market Capitalism! and let competitors slice away their margins."If the service is free, YOU are the product."VSGDRGEOTUS Donald John "Make America Great Again" Trump....Probably...Here's what we know about these bias platforms:Google/Youtube is actively in the process of banning conservatives ahead of 2019 and is a censorship machine.Facebook/Instagram bans conservative and is a censorship machine.Twitter bans free speech and also.... is a censorship machine.Every one of these platforms makes money of your information datamined to sell to advertisers. The more "data" they mine of your life, the more they can sell to advertisers. What can YOU do? Yes, YOU pede?!?Here are /u/Genius0o7's ways to "hit em in the pocketbook." Since You are their money source, removing your "data" and tracking mechanisms through a browser is a start. There's no good substitute for good internet-browsing habits. We all joke about grandma with the viruseswe have to clean out on thanksgiving; to a lesser extent, this could be you or someone you know.I'll start this by methodically going full MEGA through the following guides:Secure your BrowserSecure your mobile devicesSecure your social mediaComputer Security1. Secure your BrowserAutomatic search engines should ALWAYS be changed to DUCKDUCKGO through settings of whichever browser you choose (Choose BRAVE!). Google/Yahoo are cancerous and don't deserve our Shekels. Each of these has the ability to add a password app (Lastpass) and import your bookmarks from another browser to make the transition simpler.Brave- This browser is focused around Privacy and does not datamine. Use. This. Browser. There's no need for external privacy-oriented apps. Out of the box, it's a great, lightweight, responsive, secure browser.Mozilla Firefox - Owned and operated by the "Mozilla Foundation" through a board of directors. The Non-profit came under scrutiny from ousting their CEO thanks to SJW pressure. This is a second-choice for a computer-based internet browser. If you insist on using Firefox, install these addons for increased security while browsing:LastpassAdblockAdblock PlusDecentralyseGhosteryPrivacy BadgerOpera - Owned by China. Datamining of its users. Stay away 100%.Chrome - Google, the Liberal, Conservative-Hating-Censorship-Machine is to be avoided for any semblance of privacy~~. Also,~~ Chrome sucks up your computer resources (RAM) and makes it harder to multitask~~. I guess~~ processing and compressing data to send back to the Google server overlords for metadata-mining and advertising sales takes up a lot of RAM~~.~~ If you insist on using chrome**, don't.**Use Chromiuminstead. Install all available addons listed in the Firefox session if you choose to use it.2. Secure your devicesiOs and android devices need to be secured as well from the Goog. Use Brave browser for either device (app store/play store) and set your default search engine to Duckduckgo in the settings. You can link bookmarks and import all your stuff over; easy peezy pepe squeezy.Turn off your Location Settings (they track you anyway) unless you want to use "find my phone"Mobile data in the very near future updates is going to be a lot more observant of metadata. Where you are, what you're connecting to, and who you talk to is all up for grabs creating supremely-invasive information to "advertisers."Email: A good alternative to Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo mail is a service called protonmail. It's secure, doesn't datamine, and is located outside of NSA control (Tinfoil Hat Activated)3. Secure your Social MediaAside from this DomReddit and its 6.5Million users, there aren't many safe-havens for supporters of this president or conservatives on the internet. Here are a few:The_Donald - Nonstop Trump RalleyCodias - Self-described conservative social media (Facebook Alternative) w/ NewsVimeo - Youtube alternativeGab - Reddit alternativeDoxxing is always a threat, no matter who you are. CNNmight show up at your house to heckle you for a 12 second clip taken out of context...depending on what you post online. Welcome to 1984 in the internet age. As much as it pains me to say, download and install chrome and use Chrome apps to cleanse your social media. Uninstall Chrome when completed.Facebook - If you aren't scared of Facebook and your information they sell to advertisers or anyone who buys it with a merchantid, I'd follow this guideto download all your pictures/media en-mass and see for yourself what information they sell.I recommend completely removing your posts and pictures (Doxxing threat) and maintaining the account as an active source of communication to plebs/friends/family through messenger (tracked) and deleting the history often.Remember, just because you "deactivated" or "deleted" your account doesn't mean that anything attached to your computer isn't being tracked and attached to Facebook. Every "like" button on a merchant website is auto-loaded to store into your cookies and send back to Facebook for account attachment - Translation - Facebook can track you no matter where you go so long as it has a "like" button on the page. - Now all those Facebook ads based on browsing history while logged out or tab unopened make sense right? That's why Brave or using Ghostery/PrivacyBadger is good.To delete Facebook post history to reduce Doxxing threat - Use Chrome and this app The only time I'll advocate using Chrome is to cleanse social media.Twitter - Removing yourself from Twitter, if you use it, is pretty painless. I suggest first downloading your usage history by going to settings and requesting an archive. Once you've gotten all your pictures/posts/media downloaded:Use TweetDelete,a free web services to delete up to 3,200 tweets per run.Reddit - Anyone who's occasionally wandered outside the 10ft taller walls of T_D have realized that Reddit is a truly cucked place. We have a digital star of david on this website based around a utility called "masstagger." That's why we get downvoted to oblivion wherever we go. You can't change the masstag, which is undoubtedly updated every 15 minutes by Shareblue but you can remove your post history to deny the "You post in T_D" non-argument. Also, this has the added benefit of screwing with Reddit metrics.... While we're on the topic.... Fuckyou/u/spezUse NukeRedditto do exactly what the app name says.4. Computer SecurityWindows:I'm going to gear this towards Windows primarily because it's what I'm familiar with and most people use this system. While Apple (Mac) computers track you as well, I don't have the experience or expertise with these systems to make an informed recommendation one way or the other. So...Windows tracks you. The largest OS by usage in the world is datamining you and selling to advertisers. The security is a joke on this OS (out of the box). I will teach you the ways of hardening windows.First things first. Stop the TRACKING!!!!! I use a utility called Windows 10 tracking disable tool to do the trick. One of the upshots to this small program is if you use Skype or other utilities owned by Micro$oft, it will give you a warning message that says "this might break many services" or similar. Just turn on the top few and you're good to go. Disabling the tracking through "settings" is just a visual switch and doesn't actually turn things off in the system. Data is still being gathered. Run the Windows 10 tracking disable tool after every update that requires a restart.Next, run an antivirus, anti-spyware, and anti-rootkit software. I use (Free)AVG AntivirusAdaware Antivirus/Antispyware - Combined with AVG, these will get about 50% of viruses detected.Ccleaner - Ccleaner is a root cleaner and and internet browsing history cleaner. It'll get rid of most supercookies.RootkitRemover - As much as I personally dislike McAfee, they have a pretty good tool for embedded malware.HABITS HABITS HABITS - don't click strange things. Be cogniscent of what you're giving away (email, phone number, etc).If you have any suggestions, leave them in the comments below and i'll add this as a running document. As always, Bill Clinton is a Rapist - Infowars.com. #robgray
