Hi, fellow Radiohead enjoyer! If it's not too late for an album ask, then I'm sending you 'In Rainbows', 'Ok Computer' and 'Hail to the Thief'. Btw, feel free to ask me about Radiohead too if you want, I love them so much!
Hey there! No, it’s not too late to ask, so thanks for doing so! I LOVE rambling about music and whatnot, so thanks for the excuse!
IN RAINBOWS
Fave song: alrighty, so In Rainbows is my favorite Radiohead album so picking a favorite is a bit difficult. I’d probably have to go with either Bodysnatchers or Jigsaw Falling Into Place, it tends to fluctuate between the two.
Favorite lyric: I’d probably have to give it to “I’m alive” in Bodysnatchers, which is boring when I write it down, but the way he screams it is just *mwah* chefs kiss. The line in Weird Fishes “why should I stay, no why should I stay” is also delivered really well
Song that makes me cry: Videotapes and Nude. I don’t feel like I have to elaborate on that.
Song that’s a bop: also Bodysnatchers, but 15 Step in particular also makes me do a little boogie.
Song I like the least: probably House of Cards? Idk, there’s not too much there to talk about, but it’s still a sweet song.
OK COMPUTER
Favorite Song: Paranoid Android, not even a question. Maybe it’s the sound, maybe it’s how it describes a chaotic mind that won’t shut up that I relate to a lot, or maybe it’s my deep love for Ergo Proxy. Either way, it’s a 10,
Favorite Lyric: easily “everywhere you turn, I’ll be there, open up your skull, I’ll be there, climbing up the walls,” from Climbing Up The Walls. God, it’s such an accurate way of describing anxiety - your whole brain feels like a haunted house, and there’s something inside. Honorable mention goes to “hey man, slow down!” From The Tourist, the delivery is amazing.
Song that makes me cry: Take a fucking guess, it’s No Surprises. Genuinely one of the most heartbreaking songs I’ve ever heard. If I’m ever super emotional and need a good cry, that’s the song I turn on, specifically the acoustic cover.
Song that’s a bop: tbh I wouldn’t really describe any songs from OK Computer as a bop? I guess the closest we have is Electroneering (super underrated btw)
least favorite: ok, this is gonna get me crucified by some people, but I’ve never been the biggest fan of Karma Police. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good song, but it just kinda feels a lot more drab and boring then everything else on the album. I’ve always just kinda found it a lesser version of Paranoid Android.
Unfortunately, The King Of Limbs is the album I have not listened to the whole way through yet. So far, the songs I’ve heard out of order have been alright, but I’ll have to see how I feel about it as a whole when I finally sit down and listen to it.
anyhow, thanks for asking!
#Sophi rambles#radiohead#ok computer#in rainbows#the king of limbs#yeah in general I’m a huge music nerd so feel free to ask me about artists and all that#my tastes are all over the place tho lmao#one week I kept bouncing back and forth between Kendrick Lamar and Snail’s House#which was fun

nobody asked and nobody cares, but here are my top 15 skam songs. well, maybe not necessarily skam songs, but songs i first heard in skam or a remake
Rebel Rebel by David Bowie (wtfock) - okay, this song is fantastic. everything about it just makes me want to get up and run around and those are my personal favorite kind of songs. i never really heard any david bowie before wtfock so i have sander to thank for this
Dick in the Air by Peaches (skam) - this is what i consider to be the most iconic skam song of all time. the pure power this song has. it’s unmatched. it just makes me want to go kick some ass and i love that. not to attack another song but i’d love to watch wildfire go this hard
Fuck the Pain Away by Peaches (skam nl) - not only does this song slap but it is the first song i ever listened to while driving alone, so it has sentimental value. it’s peaches, so it has similar energy to dick in the air, but if you ask me this one is more singable and more energetic. and this scene was beautiful
Goldrushed by The Royal Concept (skam italia) - to me, this song has big summer vibes. it also just feels like happiness and having fun with your friends. maybe that’s on account of the scene its playing over but that doesn’t change the gleeful and almost nostalgic feelings this song gives me
Girls Love Shoes by Benji Hughes (skam) - one day back in june i couldn’t stop thinking of this song. i listened to it like five times and that day was also a really good day so it would make sense i have a positive association with it. a 10/10 song to slow walk to
Clean Eyes by SYML (druck) - this song (as well as du bist anders) is from my favorite clip across all the remakes. it just has the best energy. it’s the type of song that you could scream at the top of your lungs with your best friends. i physically cannot be unhappy when i listen to it. i listened to this song on a bike ride around my local outdoor middle school campus and i have never been happier. i was incapable of going slow, i just had to speed around and smile. i was the human form of elation
The Fall by The Bug and Copeland (wtfock) - this isn’t the type of music i listen to, but i remember thinking it was unlike anything i’d really heard so i fell in love with it. also that scene is just cool lol
Head Over Heels by Tears For Fears (skam) - not only is this song iconic, i also love it. another great song to ride around an empty middle chool campus while listening to it, but slower this time. it really wanna makes me fall in love
Du bist anders by AnnenMayKantereit (druck) - the beginning of this song just sounds so nice and kind of calming then the song gets more intense but i love it. and i don’t understand a single word but that doesn’t matter because i will sing it, even if it sounds like nonsense
Pink + White by Frank Ocean (skam austin) - i didn’t even register that i liked this song the first time after i heard it in the show, but i heard the beginning of it while i threw some music on in the background and i immediately was like “song cool song where from” and i was hooked
Get Outta My Face by Pussycat and The Dirty Johnsons (skam austin) - this is pretty much my music taste exactly. i heard the first couple of seconds of this song then i literally watched the credits of the episode just to hear the rest of this song. the power, the energy *chef’s kiss*
Life on Mars? by David Bowie (wtfock) - this is the type of song that i will cry/sing the lyrics to whenever i hear it, whether i was sad in the first place or not. very few songs have that affect on me so i’m mostly just impressed, though it is a pretty good song
Hold Your Horses by N U I T (skam france) - i have no idea why i like this song. no clue. i watched the season 5 trailer and i was like “YES” when this song came on and i just loved it right off the bat. i can’t describe the vibes it gives off. everything about this song is a mystery to me
Untold by RY X (druck) - the final song in the freitag 16:07 series. my heart aches when i listen to this song and it makes me want to kiss the love of my life in an empty pool. it feels like time is running out but i don’t care or some other fake deep shit. i just like this song, okay?
Life Like This by AK (wtfock) - i have no way to describe this song other than saying it slapped. i love high energy songs and this one delivers on that. i really can’t explain why i like this song so much because it’s unlike what i usually listen to but it just hypes me the fuck up. every time i listen to it, i try to sing it but i don’t know the words lol
okay now time for the honorable mentions aka songs i knew before i heard them in skam but they just happened to be in it (in no particular order)
The Boys Are Back in Town by Thin Lizzy (skam nl) - this is legitimately one of my favorite songs of all time. no exaggeration. I know every word and it was basically the only song i listened to last summer. the second i started hearing it play i gasped, actually gasped. then i started dancing. it slaps, the end
Talk Show Host by Radiohead (skam) - i watched romeo + juliet in class and when this song came on i was like “yes i love it sign me up for a dreamy sunset walk” it’s groovy adjacent i don’t know how to explain it but it’s just a rad song
Winner Takes It All by ABBA (skam nl) - okay,,, lowkey,,, i liked the version that the “god awful cover band” did of this song but maybe that’s just me. I can’t explain why i like this song moving on
Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap (skam nl) - i have an emotional attachment to this song because of something i will not explain. i don’t even like the song that much but i definitely know it. also good for isa being all emo
Gosh by Jamie XX (skam italia, druck) - i also have an emotional attachment to this song. it was in my favorite tv show of all time (limitless) and when i heard it i got waaay to excited about it
okay, that is all. thank you if you made it this far. this was just me ranting for 1183 words
#skam#skam nl#skam italia#skam austin#skam france#druck#wtfock#haha what the fuck am i doing?#thank god this got kicked out of the tags#ranking

So, over the last several months, I've seen how much you love music. We have that in common. I was wondering if you like or have ever heard of Stone Temple Pilots? They remind me of Radiohead (one of my all time favorites) and are one of my favorite bands. Some of my favorite songs are Plush, Interstate Love Song, Creep, and Dead and Bloated. That last one makes me think of Arthur (Shelby) every single time I hear it. And Creep is Tommy Shelby all day. I wish they'd use them for the season six soundtrack. They released an album last year that has a more acoustic vibe than previous albums, it's really good too. My favorite song on there is She's My Queen, sooo good. Anyway, just wanted to share with a fellow music lover. 😄
Oh I was JUST about to send you an ask to tell you that I was listening to the songs on your list on that tag game and Open Letter by The Amity Affliction OMG **chef’s kiss** I’ve never heard of this band but I’ll listen to more of them after I go through all the songs on your list
The song you mentioned in the list by Stone Temple Pilots was not really the genre I listen to but I’m listening to Plush after reading your ask and yes its intriguing now. I’ll listen to more of their music and let you know how I like them!!
Radiohead is a different vibe and genre I won’t compare them to any band (because they’re sooo different <3 ) but yes I’ll listen to Stone Temple Pilots for sure
AND I’d like to recommend some music too! three to four months ago I found this band called Dark Stares and GOD are they fabulous!!! I got introduced to them with a song called “Liquid Reign” (Kisses to this song tbh what a song! it’s in my top ten on repeat songs almost always) and there was no stopping because their sound is jcnerfhberufebucewncwiu sends me to another dimension!! Also I like their songs Pedal Pusher, Animal, Whisky, Sell Out (the chorus on here is <3)

10 Xiu Xiu - "Falling"
"Falling" by Julee Cruise, the theme song of Twin Peaks is actually one of my favorite songs of all time. But I wouldn't feel like it's a stretch to say that Xiu Xiu's version is nearly as good. It sounds more rock-influenced, louder, but also darker and sinister (like their best songs). Personally, I love it when artists make song covers that sound so creative and unique.
9 Danny L Harle feat. Carly Rae Jepsen - "Super Natural"
I feel like this is the song that positions PC Music properly inside the pop world. Sure, SOPHIE has had their collaborations with Madonna and Charli XCX, but in terms of accessibility, this is their poppiest song. And it's without a doubt one of their best for that same reason. Also Carly does her thing as great she always does.
8 Danny Brown - "When It Rain"
There's just so much going on here. The production is so dense, I love the ringtone-like sounds over the heavy, glitchy footwork/ghettotech-meets-industrial instrumental, and Danny Brown's delivery here is probably one of his most aggressive performances to date. It's like Death Grips... except that this is 1000 times more punk for real. Also the video fits perfectly with the song!
7 Ariana Grande - "Into You"
I don't think anybody expected a track like "Into You" from Ariana. I don't exactly know what makes this song so good, but the combination of her excellent vocals, the catchy hook, the (silly but) fun lyrics about love and sex and the bombastic production makes this probably one of the greatest pop songs since "Run Away With Me".
6 Jenny Hval - "Conceptual Romance"
In a way, this is Jenny’s most “pop” track to date – unlike the songs from 'Apocalypse, girl.’ and her previous albums, this has a definite hook and a relatively normal structure. But her lyrics deal with usual themes for her, such as identity, conceptual art, sexuality, and it has a more atmospheric, darker vibe than the previous single from 'Blood Bitch'. And it's also one of her best songs to date too, so there's that.
5 Radiohead - "Daydreaming"
“Daydreaming” is kind of the opposite to "Burn the Witch" – as an ambient-pop track and everything, but they do share some similarities, like the usage of strings and electronics, but lyrically is very interesting as well, possibly referring to Yorke’s divorce, after spending 23 years with his wife (literally “half of his life”, as its said backwards at the end of the song), giving it a very personal edge, which is one of the reasons this is now one of my favorite Radiohead songs ever.
4 Solange - "Cranes in the Sky"
“Cranes in the Sky” was written about eight years ago with soul icon Raphael Saadiq, it’s a slow, dreamy song that mentions all the ways she tried to get over her depression – by drinking, reading, having sex, dancing, none of which were successful. This song is gorgeous, probably one of my favorites of hers ever and without a doubt one of the best singles of the year.
3 Jessy Lanza - "It Means I Love You"
I don't know exactly why, but I always found this song so fascinating. It probably isn't the track from her record that it's you in the most immediate way (that would be "VV Violence"), but the shangaan electro sample and the whole footwork-meets-Björk vibe of the track is just excellent. I'm also surprised to see how much love this song got, but it's totally deserved.
2 David Bowie - "Lazarus"
“Lazarus” is probably the song where the references to death are the most obvious. First, its title, is a reference to the biblical figure of Lazarus, the man who died, but was brought back to life by Jesus himself, and is often a synonym of resurrection. In the video, we have him literally on his deathbed, fighting against his demons, but still creating art. But, the most important thing, the lyrics, are probably the most direct, poignant on the entirety of the record, with the soulcrashing opening lines “Look up here / I’m in heaven / I got scars that can’t be seen”, and its wonderful (but choatic) instrumental ending.
1 Rihanna - "Kiss It Better"
Her best vocal performance (the harmonies!). Her best lyrics in the topic of sex (shout-out to Natalia Kills by the way!). Probably one of her best instrumentals too. Overall, one of her best songs ever, and I feel like giving her the #1. is totally justified and deserved. This is the "Run Away With Me" of 2016, because honestly I still don't get why this wasn't a #1. smash. But anyways, talent won regardless.
