please, some genderfluid reggie hcs if you have!!

I've never really thought of genderfluid Reg before! but let me think!

I feel like in terms of genderfluid Regulus (and any Reg) it takes them a while to get there especially where they grow up it's not a place very open for them to explore their identity. I also feel like Reg as a person likes having control over things and it would take a lot to let go of a rigid structure and just be themself

At fifteen he would come out as ftm and he starts to resent what it means to be a "girl" it's not as if he doesn't feel like a boy he does that's why he transitions, but some of it also comes from the stress he was under during his childhood. he wants to run from it, and he wants to close himself off from it he wants control

James comes into the picture when he's sixteen and he starts relaxing a bit, when he's with him he doesn't feel like he needs to put himself into a box really. He doesn't feel locked in his childhood home and he grows to be more comfortable with himself. This is when he starts using he/they pronouns and only with James at first no one else knows.

They still don't change how they dress or their outward appearance yet, and they don't for a long time but he's slowly starting to feel more okay with himself. With James' help, I feel like they tell everyone else important in their life at least.

They go through large stretches of time where they like they/them pronouns more and then he goes through phases of only liking he/him and sometimes it's a long stretch of both. He really only shares this with James but everyone else picks up on it quickly and switches depending on what Reg wants.

Regulus' femininity would come back with Sirius. Of course it does. Sirius is different from Regulus in the case that he doesn't care at any point. You could use any pronouns on her and Sirius would answer to it, she has no structure. It's not that Regulus is clinging onto his structure, but that's how he's built up. He flips between them, and sometimes he's all of them all at once but it's rare.

It only makes sense that Regulus' "girlhood" in a sense comes back with Sirius. I feel like it would just come from Sirius putting on makeup around them, and Regulus would have this urge to put some on too. It takes them a while to ask for it because of how much they pushed their girlhood away and wanted nothing from it, but they would go to Sirius first.

It would take a while to accept she/her pronouns. It would take a while to accept that sometimes Reg is a girl. But it would be the final piece of the puzzle and from then on she would go through long stretches of wearing dresses, and on a random Tuesday, he would vow to never put one on again, until a month later when she does again.

and now just some little headcanons which is probably what you meant but I needed a baseline :/

Sirius buys Regulus her first dress... at least in her twenties anyway but she doesn't show anyone for a long while she's still battling with all of it. She shoves it in the back of her closet and doesn't think about it.

When James finds it and asks about it Regulus isn't up to wearing it but when she is she surprises James with it and is just hanging out at home with it on. James is just standing in the doorway his mouth agape and Reg just smiles over at him.

Let's just say the dress does not last very long on Reg's body.

James would get lessons on makeup from Sirius to help Reg with it, and also he'd learn how to do different hairstyles depending on how Reg is feeling that day.

This also leads to Regulus putting makeup on James one night on the bathroom floor because James just wants to know what it would look like on him

Regulus loves stealing James' clothes he does it insistently. So of course, one day James steals one of Reg's dresses to put on... and then rips it and buys her five new ones because he feels so bad

James uses gender-neutral pet names most of the time baby, babe, love, but might slip in a princess every now and again when Reg is feeling it (Reg pretends to hate it but she blushes every time)
