There are so many moments in Dead Dead Demon's Destruction that are just so pointed and devastating but this one really hits man. I'm kind of wondering if it was written after the Logan Paul thing happened, though of course it's probably referencing a lot of things related to a general American attitude that is, uh, timeless.

fluffcember day sixteen: chocolate

"Go on, sweetheart, try this one next."

Breha nudged one of the truffles closer. The white chocolate truffle had a dusting of pink sugar crystals and gave off a rich, sweet aroma, even across the distance from the coffee table to where Fox sat on the low-slung couch. The truffle was maybe the size of Fox's thumb knuckle and sat in a copper-coloured foil casing delicately shaped to resemble the opening bud of a flower.

Fox eyed it like a primed charge.

"I'm not sure. Why don't you have it?" he asked.

"You know I can't have too many sweet things with my medication. Go on," Breha coaxed, scooching closer to him on the couch. "I want you to try it."

Fox rubbed at his lips with his fingers, eyeing the threat. He'd just gathered courage to try another polite rebuff—he should've paid more attention when he still worked at the Senate—when another truffle, this one dark chocolate with the rising scent of something earthy and inviting, presented on deep green foil, was gently nudged into his eyeline.

"Perhaps this one instead? It was made with a spiced liqueur I think you'll enjoy," Bail said, smiling the say-nothing smile he kept for the media, even as he pressed into Fox from the other side of the couch.

"Oh, darling, I think you're right. Yes, Fox, do try that one next. Then you can cleanse your palate with the champagne truffle," Breha said, with a decisive nod and a firm pat to Fox's knee. Her hand lingered on Fox's leg, her fingers curled toward his inner thigh, not quite low enough to be unintentional.

"You're determined," Fox said, not displeased.

"We just want you to have the best," Bail said, almost blandly.

Breha nodded. "We do enjoy the finest things. After all, that's why we chose you, isn't it?"

Fox made an embarrassed, boiling-kettle kind of noise, of the type he'd never made before meeting Bail and Breha. He never knew what to say to that sort of thing, only that please stop would have been comically far from the truth, and all three of them knew it. Someday, he hoped to respond to their affection with the same casual honesty. For now, he pressed first Breha, and then Bail, lightly with his shoulders; a gentle version of the way clones clattered each other's pauldrons. They both pressed back. They knew his language.

"Then that's settled," Bail said, and plucked up the chosen chocolate with his long, clever fingers.

He held the truffle toward Fox's lips, one hand cupped beneath the treat to catch any falling powdered sugar. The carelessly graceful motion nearly made Fox's breath catch. Heat touched his cheeks. Breha's hand slid further toward Fox's groin as she leaned in closer, her subtle perfume claiming further ground over Fox's decaying composure.

"Open up," Bail murmured, completely unnecessarily.

Fox licked his lips. Falling back on his training and experience, he quickly assessed the situation: he sat bracketed by two attractive, confident, wealthy beings, on their plush couch, in their warm and comfortable house, being insistently fed sumptuous, expensive chocolates. By hand. Again. Then, when the chocolates were gone, he would be invited to an equally warm, comfortable, and expensive bed, and lovingly fucked within an inch of his life.

Fox closed his eyes, and opened up.

I don't remember last I mentioned it but apart from crude nicknames to people (except Chris), he also just puts them in his phone really weird (except Chris, who is literally in his phone as Chris). And I bring this up because in Right's phone, Karen is saved as "Lawful Obligation".

Even if their relationship was entirely platonic there is still no heterosexual explanation for Pallas and Athena imo. I do want to talk about sharing art online from the perspective of a hobby freelancer but before that I'll just toss this tidbit I mentioned on my main

Reblogs are not numbers. Reblogs are meant to share and pass on artwork that someone may like. NO ONE is forced to reblog anything BUT it is a core of engagement in a space like tumblr. Engagement is what brings in interest after all and it's one piece of what makes it important for freelance artists here.

When you look at the numbers and the notes, we need to stop viewing them and comparing them with likes (me included) or total in general. It doesn't help.

Artists do self rebloging to both show or remind folks they've done some work as well as to nudge people to reblog their stuff. Tags are nice and comments in them are a nice way to engage too but passing on the work, especially to help someone to get noticed, is a good way to just work the site as intended.

It will always be about luck because we can't guess who wants to engage with what online. You also can't blame yourselves for this. Don't use the internet mentality of "content" (eugh!) and "flopping" and go about it that way. People find stuff I drew years back and find ways to engage with it now. It's really about luck.

There are things that can help but I'll go about it in another post.

One more thing. Don't be shy about "shilling". Advertise your open commissions, your patreons or ko-fis. I promise it has nothing to do with how big of an artist you are. Remember that you're doing that within your own zone so "bothering" followers is hardly the case, it's your house. Make a tag for it if it helps your mind. I say as someone with social anxiety.

well i propose there be such a concept for star trek

because people in star trek talk differently than modern humans. they use different words, different slang, phrasings. yes, they can speak casually but mostly it isn't like us. watch any of 90s trek and you'll see These People Do Not Speak Like Us

and, no disrespect, a lot of fic does not reflect this. and it irks me. they just speak like modern day people instead of... star trek characters. i personally think part of the fun of writing trek characters is writing it out to how they speak and how they would think

hell, this isnt even a fanfic problem. modern trek has this issue too. i think outta laziness. they have their people talking (and when in casual wear, dressing) like 2020s people and it pisses me off

I remembered the post I made way back at the beginning of the school year telling the story about my math teacher playing Mama by MCR in class and how shocked I was, but like this lady has made me have SO. MANY. VISCERAL. REACTIONS. In a public place! Every couple of weeks (if I make it that long) she manages to play some song that I have to fight God to not sing along to (like holy fuck, I'm a choir kid, I'm a theater kid, we know, we get the point, quit torturing me). But like she played Sailor Song one day when it was literally my favorite song and the only song I was listening to at that point and I was like... actually singing a TEENY TINY bit SUPER quietly just because I was with my friend who was also singing.

But I can't even count on one hand anymore the amount of times she's played Eye of the Tiger and I have FREAKED OUT, immediately imagined Jensen during that one Supernatural blooper in Yellow Fever, and wanted to go home to watch 10 episodes so fucking bad but still have school and work left afterwards.
