Oh tumblr mutual aluminium-angels you are so real to me but I could not disagree more with your opinions, it's like calling an apple an orange.
As an avid iterator on the string propaganda spreader, I must do my duty to now share my own opinions on the internet.
So, with why a puppet really couldn't work much as a brain, iterators aren't just some guy in a fancy cube operating world's most fancy gaming computer. It is fairly difficult to compare our biology to that of a really, really big fictional machine.
Iterators are massive - several kilometres wide. That is a lot of information being processed at once. It all needs instructions on where to go and what to do. You can't fit that in a puppet. You can compare your computer's CPU to the rest of it and it's actually fairly sized. You cannot fit an iterator in a puppet. Now, you could say that all of the General Systems Bus (GSB) could be used as a CPU, and in a way I'm sure it is. But, looking at our current supercomputers, they actually have uhhh several CPUs like several thousands. Yes of course iterator technology is completely impossible to our standards but Im gonna slightly base it off what we already have.
Back to the size, it matters because information takes time to move along to where it's supposed to go, and you can only move so much information at any given time. You don't want to be moving a shit ton of date over a few kilometres, that would be too slow to think effectively. So it's not unlikely to think that iterators would have several areas for processing information. A CPU in the top right corner to handle everything that's running there, and so on for other sections. And then after that, the important things that may need input from other parts would be passed down to the GSB.
In computering a data bus is used to transfer information between components. Slapping the thing you're gonna be asking questions to right in the middle might just sorta allows it to retrieve that information faster.
Our own brain is several parts working together. And not every little detail needs to be a conscious thought for us. We only need the information that is useful.
These machines' entire job is to think. A lot. They would absolutely be designed with a lot of brain parts to think of anything that could solve the great problem.
The puppet in it's pretty box would be like the desktop. Here's the buttons you can click to interact with your machine! Here's something user-friendly for you to understand. If I unplug my monitor from the computer then it still works just fine, I just can't see anything.
Now, idk if I actually got anywhere with that
And you are of course welcome to ignore all of it and believe whatever you want !! These are fictional beings and they can be whatever blorbos you make em to be. That's the fun thing about fiction :>
I still have so many thoughts about iterator puppets, A God with a body the size of a country With thousands and thousands eyes watching represented through nothing but a little doll. Imagine how an iterator would feel. You are impossibly large, it would take years for a regular organism to think what you do in a millisecond. Everything is nothing but a speck in comparison to you. Yet the only physical body you're supposed to attach to is a little clump of fabric and metal, smaller than a millionth of your body, it could never show the thoughts you experience and neither does your parents language. However, it is the only physical vessel your creators left you, a god represented by a toy.
Perhaps it's no surprise that even before the global ascension, the iterators hated their creators.
