13, 33, and 39!
13: A song that reminds you of your current partner/crush
There are So Many, since he and I are both big music people (we got to be close friends through youth choir, after all), so I'll list a couple. Back when he first went away to college, before we were dating, I listened to this on a loop...
...and right when we started dating, he introduced me to this band and this song...
33: A song whose message you don't like
So this German punk band from the 80s did an album lyrically based on A Clockwork Orange. As much as I love some of the songs from the album, I am deeply uncomfortable with the violent lyrical content of this song specifically (which, I suppose, is at least part of the point).
39: Your favorite instrumental
On one hand, I could put a classical piece, but I'll put this instrumental from That Thing You Do! instead.
#also listened to 'souvenirs' by switchfoot a lot.#and i wrote an insane amount of melodramatic free-verse poetry about him during that interval.#hilariously prior to him leaving i was like 'i am Not Like Other Girls! i am Completely Normal about my crush!'#and then all of that happened.#music tag#asks#thirddoctor#i feel the need to note that i have not read a clockwork orange as of now. this album was introduced to me by a german professor.

I’m desperately in need of some new music, and listening to “Top Christian Music” playlists really isn’t cutting it right now. I’ve found some good indie stuff I like, but it’s rather scarce. Would you happen to have any recommendations for good artists/groups/albums, even particular songs that you enjoy?
Ah! I’ll see what I can do!
One song that I absolutely LOVE and highly recommend is “Your Kindness Knows No End” by Ross King it is the most calming thing ever...if you only listen to one song from this ask, listen to this one!
“Somewhere Out There” by Hume is also a really good song, I don’t think it’s necessarily Christian but...it sounds kind of like it could be?
“Head Above Water” by Avril Lavigne not sure if it’s Christian but it sure sounds like it could be...
“Be Still” by The Fray Another one that might not be Christian but sure SOUNDS like it
Artists that I recommend:
NEEDTOBREATHE (all of their songs aren’t necessarily Christian, but a lot of them have Christian themes, I love so many of their songs it’s hard to pick favorites... “Something Beautiful” “The Outsiders” “Angel At My Door” “Keep Your Eyes Open” “Brother” “Happiness” “Be Here Long” “Testify” “Forever On Your Side” are just a few I recommend, but really just listening to some of their albums would be good I think?)
Stillpoint (okay so...this is actually my worship leader...the songs are all super nostalgic for me, but I think they are kind of fun and different too if you want to try them out? There are two albums, All Day Long and fornights&starryskies (the spelling might be different...? I know both albums are on apple music, not sure about spofity?)
Switchfoot (Good old classic Switchfoot, they have a bunch of songs...some that I know I love: “Hello Hurricane” “Your Love Is A Song” “This Is Home” “Live it Well” “Souvenirs” “Restless” honestly there are too many to list ah!)
Jon Foreman (The lead singer of Switchfoot, he has some singles, my favorite is “Your Love Is Strong” but “House of God Forever” is good too!)
Reliant K (similar to Switchfoot, they were a staple of growing up for me. “You’ll Always Be My Best Friend” “Be My Escape” “I So Hate Consequences” and “More Than Useless” I also like “Collapsible Lung” though it’s kind of strange xD)
Owl City (not technically Christian, but he has covered a few worship songs and I really just...love Owl City...I don’t even know where to start with recommending songs tbh...I love “All My Friends” “Gold” “Silhouette” and others I know I’m forgetting)
Imagine Dragons (not Christian but I’ve rediscovered some of their newer songs and I’m loving them! Especially “West Coast” “Zero” “Boomerang” and “Stuck”)
I also really love “I Don’t Know My Name” and “Clay” by Grace VanderWaal
Oh and I recently found “One Step” and “Portugal” by WALK THE MOON and I love both of those so much!
