mithrun is racist!- he’s actually the least likely character to be racist since he lost his desires and that includes a desire for superiority over others. he even calls his past self out on that part of himself. the other elves in that side comic were being just as racist to shorter lived races but just didn’t use ‘outdated slurs’

(unfortunately literally every main character in dunmeshi is at least a lil prejudiced, but I believe it’s worldbuilding and a sign of the times rather than a reason ryoko kui is giving to hate each character)

taking care of others is a pain in the ass!- saying this as a reason kabru and mithrun shouldn't be together is basically saying disabled people shouldn't be allowed to have romantic relationships because they're a "burden"...if someone is actually willing to put in the work, then let them be.

that's not even all of their relationship, mithrun is the fighter of their duo and kabru would've been killed by the shapeshifter or something if he'd fallen down the hole on his own since he sucks at fighting monsters. mithrun helps collect ingredients for cooking every time, too (barometz fruits and griffin egg). he pulls his weight and then some!! i feel like people forget that part of mithrun a lot somehow.

+senshi literally cooks for everyone all time. it's kind of an important aspect of the narrative.

he even starts doing “unnecessary” things for mithrun’s comfort and safety like when mithrun pushes himself too hard fighting, even after his mission to take care of him was complete when the canaries came back

there's nothing more to their relationship!- they actually have had a very tight and consistent dynamic since they met and they incite the most change within each other by the end. kabru is the one who inspires mithrun to create new desires so he doesn't waste away, and mithrun is the first person we see kabru being genuine with and it leads him to be more honest with others by the end instead of tiptoeing around everyone all the time (that mask was also the reason some ppl initially disliked kabru…)

kabru’s relationship with mithrun is honestly so important for his character and vice versa, but it’s often disregarded because of one over exaggerated aspect of it (an aspect that isn’t even the first way they interact with each other) or because people want to just straight up ignore it for some reason 🥲🥲

kui dedicates many panels to them that don't particularly serve the narrative as a whole in order to demonstrate this and i think that's pretty significant

• there isn't much that we all collectively agree on more about leo than the fact that he's somewhat of a bossy dude

• that being said, he does mellow out in his older years and becomes more laid back...then he had children (biologically by some miracle or by adoption)

• he read every single baby book he could get his hands on but then they went out the window when he realized that parenting is nothing like what they say in books

• the 0-8 month phase wasn't so bad, his sleep schedule is wonky so mostly he's up with the baby. he's very calm, very soft spoken, and gentle with the baby when they're fussy cause they can't communicate

Can you analyze Aoikane? Like does aoi really like Akane? Is Akane a good person to her? Doesn’t he just treat her like everyone else? Even after the severance arc?

I’m glad you asked this! I’ve written a lot about Aoi and Akane as separate characters but I haven’t really gotten to go in depth explaining their relationship. This won’t cover everything but I’ll try to address all your questions. Just a heads up, I incorporated a mix of canon evidence and personal interpretation here. I tried to address each time I was purely stating my perspective but be aware that this is very opinionated

So to answer your first question, “Does Aoi really like Akane?” the answer is no…Aoi LOVES Akane. Aoi is love with Akane to an embarrassing degree, dare I say more embarrassing than the time Mitsuba said “yes sir” to Kou

On a more serious note, Aoi loving Akane is a core part of their development. If Aoi didn’t love Akane, Akane never would have fallen in love with Aoi

This right here is the key moment, the moment when Akane realizes what he means to Aoi. He offhandedly tells her he hates her, and it makes her cry. At that age, nothing made Aoi cry, not even bullies. But she felt so strongly about Akane that the mere thought of him hating her was enough to bring her to tears

Akane’s character arc centers largely around coming to understand, empathize with, and help the people around him, so when he sees someone who needs him he goes all in offering his help. When he saw that Aoi loved him, that she would cry if he hated her, all he wanted to do was make her happy and make her feel loved. This is what he dedicated his life to, judging by everything we know about his relationship with Aoi after this event

Another way we know Aoi loves Akane is because she tells us this herself! She asks Hanako to talk about love and then explains her past with Akane. Before this, when Aoi got left behind leaving Hakubo’s boundary, she confessed to the audience that she loves Akane (“I never got to tell him I like him”). That line has clear romantic connotations, especially for a series that places so much emphasis on confession scenes. But on the train, we learn why Aoi loves Akane

To Aoi, Akane is everything she is not. He is naturally liked by people, hard-working, and kind. Aoi seems to view Akane as the epitome of a good person, and herself as the opposite. Think of it as a sun/moon dynamic, we see this with many ships in the series. Hanako seems to think similarly about Nene, considering himself a murderer and then viewing Nene as this ball of sweetness. When asked what he likes about her, he simply says “Everything.” Even Aoi was shocked lol (but this ain’t about them)

It confuses me that a lot of fans ask why Aoi likes Akane when she’s outright stated it herself. It could be that some of them haven’t finished the manga (not saying that’s you btw that wasn’t one of your questions), and hey there’s no shame in that. I just wish they would either admit they haven’t read it or look up the chapters they need to read because their arguments are lacking some pretty key information😭 Guys, step one of analyzing is to READ. But I digress

I think another explanation would be that fans don’t understand Aoi’s character, they still subconsciously view her as Nene’s popular best friend. They may not think they do, because they think the extent of her facade is pretending to be perfect. They don’t understand how she looks down on people, how she only thought about herself when Nene and Akane started acting different, and how she gets emotionally dependent on the people closest to her. There’s a reason for that too, many fans don’t like that side of Aoi. They see her express an unhealthy attachment style and decide the problem is AoiAoi rather than Aoi as a character, so they completely erase her flawed management of relationships when they write her

Aoi displays an avoidant attachment style, she pushes away the people she wants to be close with. She also arguably shows signs of BPD, and though I won’t get into that today, one of the defining symptoms is intense and unstable relationships. The sad truth is that people really hate people with avoidant attachment styles, and they really hate people with BPD (and any Cluster B personality disorder in general), so when they see Aoi expressing these traits they erase them rather than admitting they don’t like that side of her. Which is sad because you rarely see people doing that with male characters. Teru and Hanako are loved for the aspects of their personalities that are unlikable to the fanbase, whereas Aoi’s toxicity is ignored because it doesn’t fit the image fans have of her. Aoi is misunderstood by the fandom the same way she’s misunderstood by the characters in the manga

One last note on this, if you dislike Aoi just say that (again this is aimed at the general fandom, not you specifically). Don’t erase her obvious signs of mental illness, that representation is important to a lot of fans. When I wrote my TikTok essay on Aoi having BPD, I had people with BPD in the comments telling me how much they related to her. On other posts about Aoi, I’ve had people tell me how much it means to them to see a character realistically portray an avoidant attachment style. Mental illness is rarely portrayed correctly in media, and it is highly offensive to those who have it irl to erase those traits in a character just because they don’t fit your cookie-cutter image of them. And yes, I know Aoi doesn’t canonically have BPD but slandering her for traits that strongly relate to BPD is also weird (this is the opinionated part I warned you guys about lol, but yk a psych student is gonna have to lecture you on ableism)

Aoi’s feelings for Akane have also been teased since the beginning of the manga, through jealousy. She claims not to like him back, but she completely shuts down whenever he shows interest in someone else (or when someone else shows interest in him). Again, this is not a healthy response by any means but I personally think it’s an interesting character flaw, you are welcome to think otherwise🤷🏼‍♀️

She actively encourages his confessions with her point system, if she didn’t enjoy his confessions she would have turned him down from the get go. This connects back to the avoidant attachment style thing, Aoi wants Akane’s attention but she maintains distance for fear of letting him in. She keeps walls up to protect herself, because while Akane is the sun she basks in, she doesn’t really believe he likes her

This is because Akane puts her on a pedestal just like the rest of the school does. Some fans overlook this because they’re focused on post-development AoiAoi but at one point Akane made Aoi feel very isolated. It must have hurt extra since he’s her childhood friend. She thought Akane was only in love with the perfect version of her, which I don’t believe to be true. Akane loved Aoi, flaws and all, and that’s why he saw her as perfect. Most of the information we learn about Aoi is given to us through Akane, so it wouldn’t add up for him to not know her real personality. During their fight scene, he lists all her worst qualities and proceeds to kiss her hand and tell her he loves her

My conclusion is that Akane’s love for Aoi was so intense, he saw her through a rose colored glass. He knew the real her, but he loved her so much that her flaws didn’t bother him. He only focused on the good parts, and thus ended up putting her on a pedestal. He didn’t realize his behavior was hurting her up until the truth came out in chapter 69, and to answer that one part of your question, yes his behavior did change after that

He encourages Aoi to talk about herself, offering to do all of her favorite hobbies with her. He gives her free reign and support here, letting her talk and then offering solutions to her worries. He reassures her that she can fix things with Nene, which is like!! A major step in the right direction!! Akane is usually very possessive of Aoi, even when it comes to her friendships, but here he is encouraging healthy communication between her and Nene. He doesn’t deny her bad actions, but he gives her room to resolve them

After that, we see him start to treat her normally. He acts like himself around her, the same version of him we see around Teru and Nene. None of that lovestruck, over exaggerated worship we’re used to seeing him show towards Aoi. Even during the Severance, he took time to work with Nene and Teru rather than obsessively focusing on Aoi. He gave Teru motivation when he felt like quitting, even felt comfortable using their mutual love for a Aoi to fuel their rivalry. He formed an alliance with Nene even though he initially felt bitter towards her for Aoi’s disappearance. He learned to look past his own feelings enough to be there for his friends, likely because Aoi taught him to remove those rose-colored glasses. He saw that only focusing on what he wants (only focusing on Aoi) was hurting the people around him, including Aoi herself. Post chapter 69, Akane becomes much more down to earth. He still loves Aoi deeply and puts her first, but he treats her like a normal human being. This allows him to treat other people normally too

A lot of people use this chapter as evidence that Akane hasn’t changed but guys, he’s allowed to be jealous over the girl he loves. He panics here, but he doesn’t try to get violent with Teru the way we used to see him do when guys would express interest in Aoi. He doesn’t look possessive or angry here at all, just sad. He’s genuinely devastated that he’s in a world where he can’t be with the girl he loves. This is bad news for both him and Aoi, judging by the sad look she gives him as she leaves and the events of last chapter, it’s clear that this Aoi is still in love with Akane. Our Akane knows how dependent Aoi is on him, he knows that he’s the reason she’s started taking steps towards healing. Without him, all of her development gets erased, and there’s the simpler sad fact that she can’t be with the man she loves. Akane wants happiness for both of them, there’s nothing wrong with that

Even when he confesses to her, it looks so much more genuine than the old scenes of his confessions. It gets a full page, they’re both blushing and their eyes are full of light. His words are so genuine too, he doesn’t wax on about how perfect and delicate she is, all he does is promise to love her forever. For someone with such severe abandonment issues like Aoi has, those words are all she’s ever wanted to hear. Her father left when she was young, then the two people closest to her started to pull away from her (not in this universe but still). She’s terrified that people will hate her, that everyone will leave her if she reveals her true self. And here Akane is, promising to love her and only her for as long as they both shall live (and beyond that)

So, yes, I truly do believe Akane’s behavior towards Aoi has changed. And keep in mind, the manga isn’t over yet, they will have more development. We just learned Aoi’s backstory with her father leaving and her mommy issues, there’s still so much we don’t know about the characters. They still have a long way to go, so if they haven’t grown as much as you’d like then give them some time!! But they have made a lot of progress already, and I wish more fans recognized that

As for the question of whether or not he’s a good person to her, that’s very subjective!! Some fans don’t like any level of toxicity in their ships, so chapter 69 was enough for them to write off AoiAoi entirely. That’s perfectly fine, no one should feel forced to like a ship that makes them uncomfortable. Some love toxic ships, some only love toxic ships if they have development, and others love ships with extreme toxicity (I finished Interview with the Vampire season 1 today so that is where I’m at right now lol)

Let me ask you a few questions though. Is Kou a good person to Mitsuba, for mimicking the actions of his abuser and force-feeding him?? Is Hanako a good person to Nene for attempting to trap her in a fake world and kill her best friend? Is Hakubo a good person to Sumire for eating her alive? Is Natsuhiko a good person to Sakura for letting them destroy the world? Are any of these characters good people to each other???

All of those situations have nuance, and so does AoiAoi. Yes, Akane choked Aoi, but only because she was about to kill herself. She was in a shinigami’s boundary, talking about wanting to “go somewhere far away” and never return. If he hadn’t done something, she never would have returned from the far shore. That doesn’t excuse his actions, but it provides some perspective. Akane wouldn’t choke Aoi under normal circumstances, just like Kou wouldn’t force-feed Mitsuba under normal circumstances. However, both of them would go to those extremes if it meant protecting the ones they love. I personally believe it’s toxic, but some fans insist it’s completely justified because they were doing it for the greater good. Again, it all comes down to perspective

Their dynamic also largely relies on the yandere!Akane gag, which is very hit or miss for some people. Although it’s for comedic purposes, those scenes did happen in canon and they happen a lot. They can be very distracting and cause fans to feel confused once they’re introduced to the deeper side of AoiAoi, which is understandable. Part of peoples’ interpretation on AoiAoi’s level of toxicity comes down to how serious they take the yandere jokes, and how much they like yandere characters. If you hate yandere characters but don’t take the gag too seriously, you’ll be able to overlook it. However, if you hate yandere characters AND you take the gag seriously…AoiAoi might be a difficult ship to accept

Otherwise, Akane does look out for Aoi a lot. He beats up guys who harass her, he asks her how her talk with Nene went, he checks on her injured hand, he will stop at nothing to save her when she’s in danger and, well…the list goes on. There’s no denying Akane cares about Aoi, though some fans may argue he cares about her to a toxic extent. I find that attitude a little hypocritical when they like every other toxic canon ship, but every ship has different appeals so I get it. I’m very biased tho so every argument I see against AoiAoi is just words, words, words

Keep in mind that the TBHK characters and their relationships are all meant to be flawed. This is an imperfect cast of characters who all want to be loved, who have their own goals and try desperately to save each other even though they’re doomed to fail. I wouldn’t call every character morally gray, but they’re realistically flawed. Akane and Aoi want to be together, but they have a lot of individual issues to work through first. They’re undoubtedly better together though, seeing as the progress they make is because of each other (I gave Akane credit for Aoi’s development earlier but it goes both ways!!). If they were separated, we wouldn’t see them grow as much as they have. That doesn’t have to be romantic ofc but I do believe that Aoi and Akane make each other better, they just have to go through the process of making each other worse first in order to get there

I am a person who LOVES flawed characters and relationships. If the ship doesn’t have a splash of codependency, I don’t want it. I incorporate sadomasochism into almost every fic I write. My view of AoiAoi is going to be different from that of someone that isn’t interested in flawed characters/ships (yes, you’re allowed to prefer characters that are “morally pure”). If you’re looking for something that’s pure fluff then AoiAoi most likely isn’t for you, very few TBHK ships are unless you’re heavily fanonizing them. That’s simply the nature of this manga, there’s a reason we’ve seen every canon couple hit each other at some point. It’s not as bad as some fans suggest, but it’s still messy. I want to reiterate that this isn’t aimed at you specifically but I feel it’s something the fandom as a whole needs to hear. Of course, there are toxic ship enjoyers who may not find AoiAoi interesting, but every complaint I’ve heard about them so far has been about their toxicity so that’s what I’m addressing. I personally find it to be tame compared to the other ships but not everyone is going to interpret it the same way

Okay so I watched all of Ninjago Dragons Rising s2p2! I've got so many thoughts and I'm dumping them all here in a long list. SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

to start: Cole!! He's a family man! He's got a boyfriend and they hold hands and they care for their kids and Bonzle so obviously came out to them and omg I wanted to cry. The joy of acceptance. I mean come one she kept saying how alone she felt, they're found family, she was repeating that she chose he town name and identity and the villains were insistent that she wants a person but just a spell like come on

But there's more than that, I have questions I have concerns!! Like wtf happend on Coles quest?? With Sensei Wu??? Like he disappeared and turned up again and said he would explain but never did.

Cole also came back from that in his bolder form so did he figure out he could do it on his own then? Is that what he learned on his quest?? If so it's gonna be a little awkward when he tried to explain that to his bf Geo.

With part 2 I really want to see the whole gang meet them and talk and catch up on everything. Like cole has been missing since the merge and no one this season cared. At all. They hadn't seen him in ages- didn't even know if he was alive until drs1 but nope no worries or concerns. Not even a question of what he was up to.

When he came through the portal Zane wasn't worried or confused at all, just oh? You need some help?? Sure let's beat these bad guys and not worry or show emotions! Is a tearful reunion for my fav character too much to ask?? Cuz he clearly deserves it. :(

And then into both Zane and Coke this season!! Love them!! They've always been my fav duo (gonna have to start shipping geo/Cole/Zane as poly now) it was so fun to see them going around together with Bonzle. They had some great moments and I'm praying we get more in the next part.

On the other hand it was a shame they got such small roles- just seperated from the others as a way to help Bonzle. It means they didn't have the same lessons or knowledge the others got which is totally unfair!! They have a lot to catch up on. They also never got a chance to be part of the main battle

It's dumb but I was kinda hoping for Cole to show off his stronger powers (he always seems to get new powers every other season but that's a discussion for another day). Like sure he could use his robotic mech suit but that's been done before! He can do his boulder thing now (unless somehow he still thinks he can't which means he kept up that form for several days on his quest) and when he made that giant mid hut to protect his family!! I want to see him do that again! Let me man go ape shit to protect Bonzle.

And on another note, Geo my beloved, you should get a chance to shine with your powers. A chance to show off or at least have a talk about them with Cole.

Next up WyldFyre. I was worried they would make her the annoying comic relief cuz if her injury but her talks about losing loved ones and dragon culture and her home were really sweet and it was great to see some development so driven by battles. I love those too don't get me wrong but like I needed to see this side of her. And I adore her relationship with Kai, being besties/mentors/dad for her works so great for both characters.

I will be first to admit that

Kai wasn't really my favourite. If you couldn't tell I love Cole followed by Zane. Always have and likely always will. I suppose that early Kai reminded me too much of some guys form my class and they turned into shitheads and I've always struggled to reconcile Kai's image form theirs. He was always a little too brash, hotheaded, and too often written as stupid to fall into my good graces.

And yet this season I adored him. Of course I've never hated him but like this season made me see what all his fans (many many fans) see in him.

I thought Kai being the first to master such a new, difficult and crucial skill was incredibly satisfying. Form all the way back to season 1 he's been the butt of jokes- having to learn he's not the centre of the universe and sometimes it's others like Lloyd who are the chosen ones. That's all great but him now getting a starting role, his ability being fueled by thoughts of his family, by his childhood and by protecting is friends was just too good to ignore him. Love this form of his character more than any other I've seen.

And now Kai is trapped :(

I'm glad he's got Bonzle with him tho so hopefully they can have each other's backs (she's meant to be a POWERFUL spell after all) they'll need each other if they're trapped with those other 4 guys. If they can apparently demolish everything then I'm rather worried for the duo. Tbh I'm sure they'll survive just fine, probably making jokes at Cole's expense all the while.

On a side note, I found it super cute how WyldFyre was willing to protect and go down with Kai. Besties I'm telling ya

Now Jay. I've never thought too hard about him I know he's one of the favs of the fandom but like Kai I was never so besotted with him. Still a great guy and omg I feel so bad. One of his worst fears was always being alone and now stuck, confused, forced to hide such a fundamental part of himself.

On the other hand he's got a gun now so that's fun!!

And you can't talk about him without mentioning Nya. He worst fears being him forgetting hurts my soul. And she was so sure it could never be true that she snapped out of her nightmare state!! She's going to break when she finds out.

She's already grieving her own brother, we saw her break down into WyldFyre (more proof she's an honorary sibling by now) but now knowing what's happening with Jay, I'm saying the angst is going to be overpowering. It's a greek tragedy fr

Part 2 is going to be rough. Jay only had a single scene but it's already a sign for the worst to come.

Speaking of things being rough, Lloyd is going THROUGH IT!! give this poor guy a break. I do appreciate that we physically get to see the effects of all his trauma- that everything that's happened has real consequences for his character and the story but I can't help but feel bad.

I've also suffered from anxiety for most of my life so to see it in a character like that feels really personal to me. Hope he gets a little break though, god knows he deserves it.

Have to say it's pretty funny that Lloyd's had so much Oni trauma that he forgot that he's part dragon too. Yes ninjas dragons can do spinjitsu why are you surprised at this point

The animation this season has been incredible, the fights were beautiful the angles so interesting and dynamic and I could go on for hours about how much I love it. It's always great when kids -and even animation in general is treated with respect. It doesn't dumb it's ideas and stories and characters for the sake of it's younger audience, and that makes it so much better for me who is definitely out of the age range.

I have my more points to make but I've been adding stuff in and off for ages so I'll probably go through this all later. Thanks for reading, please I want to know your own thoughts too I love discussing that kinda stuff!!

Piero, or much more commonly Parker, is quite the chef and baker for any dish on the planet! But when the Daycare shut down, the pinkish pig has been known to often go beyond the boundaries that Playtime. Co set for him. A lot. He's a people pleaser at heart, and always will be. i've talked about that before on this blog, in this post specifically (with extra links for context so maybe check it out) and it's still something that i think about A Lot. in that post, i describe it as a source of Mutual horror, i.e. "you were created to both bring out the best in someone and to keep each other shackled to someone else’s incomprehensible idea of normalcy." and when i say incomprehensible, i really do mean incomprehensible; going by a few posts clown's made in the past, the idea of gender being tied to presentation and vice versa seems to be a foreign one to the playfellow puppets - and yet, this does not seem to prevent them from the consequences of being Perceived a certain way. it's also probably worth mentioning that if the 2022 pride art is to be believed, then neither frank or julie are cis, either (for whatever the playfellows puppets' definition/equivalent of "cis" is, anyway.)

i would be lying if i said i haven't thought about Several ways this could all play out; how it could affect both of them as individuals, their other relationships, their pre-existing friendship. i won't go over all of those here bc this post would be way too fucking long otherwise, but i will say that i think that they would have been friends regardless of whether or not the show decided they were (and regardless of whether or not the show wanted friends or "friends."*) i don't think either of them start out Aware that they're "supposed" to be together. i think they are likely made aware of it later on - of how they are seen. in this way, it's a good example of what i meant when i previously described welcome home feeling like a setup for some cosmic horror-as-coming of age shit (or coming of age as cosmic horror??) for example, in this particular context, i saw A Lot of these two scenarios when it came to growing up queer and/or closeted, especially in an unsafe environment: 1. All: I think all of their horny levels would fluctuate? Like maybe one day they just aren't feeling it and the next they could be going crazy or whatever.

Minato: I don't think he'd have much of an opinion about who's the big spoon or not, he likes being held as much as he likes holding onto you. I don't think he'd be against borrowing your clothes, but I think he wouldn't do it mainly because of size. He's 6'5 and pretty buff so unless you have clothes that could fit him I don't think he'd borrow clothes, he'd love seeing you in his clothes though! I just can't see him using pet names. I think he'd try but I think he more so just finds using your name more romantic then a nickname or a pet name. He's pretty awkward in general. A lot of people have shied away from him due to his intimidating size and they see the scar on his face and assume the worst, he doesn't really know how to talk to people and h's never really outgoing. I think even if he was close to you he'd still be gentle and more on the soft spoken side. Spoiler territory for confessions so I won't get too much into that but he'd be too shy to confess first. Instead of squashing the bug with a shoe I think he would just move the bug outside. He doesn't really care about bugs, but he doesn't wanna hurt them, they're still living creatures. He's a pretty good driver so he doesn't mind driving, but he wouldn't mind you driving if you wanted to, as long as you were good at driving. If you're bad he will take it upon himself to teach you, other then practicing the car is off limits to you. He's also a pretty good cook. He has experience helping his parents cook when he was younger and cooking meals for his grandparents that he's taking care of. It's not that he really dislikes PDA, more like he gets too shy and awkward to really enjoy it. He doesn't like having so much attention on him and when it is, its all he can focus on. He doesn't mind you being affectionate, just feels uncomfy if its out in public. He's protective of the ones he loves just in general. I don't think he's had any relationships, but I think he'd had like one or two crushes.

Haruto: I think he'd prefer to hold you, he just likes the feeling of you in his arms. If you also wanna hold him though he wouldn't mind but he might suggest you both face and hold each other. HE LOVES SEEING YOU IN HIS CLOTHES! HE ADORES IT! Even after all these years, he'll never get sick of the sight. He just thinks you're so precious<33333 He loves using pet names, he loves trying out a bunch just to get a reaction out of you. I just don't think he likes talking to others, like he's not shy, but he just cant stand other people LMAO. He likes to do both, but I think he's a bit better at using his words. He's all poetic with it or whatever. Bros been dropping hella hints about his crush since forever honestly. He's probably outright said it but you just took it as the friend type of love. He hates germs! and bugs...they're covered in nasty germs. He screams about the bugs not because he's scared of the actual bug, but because he's scared of the germs on those things. He Hates driving, but he hates not being reliable more. Its one of those things that could honestly change. If you like driving, then please, take the wheel. but if you don't, then he's got you. He likes cooking and is good at it too, he loves cleaning up while he's cooking. If you wanna cook then he'll help you by cleaning the messes that cooking makes. He loves PDA, he loves you showing off that he's yours just as much as you're his. Nothing screams "leave my partner alone" like some hardcore PDA. He's so overprotective that he doesn't even trust his younger brother around you. Him and his younger brother get along fine, great, wonder, fantastic even, but does he want his younger brother to get along too? absolutely not. Imagine you've liked someone your entire life and then your younger brother who you kept away from that person comes in and takes them? That could neeeeever happen 0_0. He has no relationship experience because h's saved himself ALLLLLL for you<33

Jun: I don't think Jun would mind holding you but I think Jun would feel like getting held is a reward after staying loyal to you all these years. She's done the holding for soooooo long, she wants to be held too. She loves borrowing and lending clothes equally. He's been using pet names since before you two were even close, just to feel like maybe your relationship is going somewhere. He would stop if he noticed it made you like SUPER uncomfy though. Anyways pet names are cute and Jun LOVES cute things, like you! Jun used to be more introverted but he realized that he'll only get to live once so he's kinda pushed himself to be more extroverted, but he's happy he did it! He can talk to you with more ease now! Jun is an all around lover! She loves telling and showing you just how much she loves you! She never fails to support you and compliment you and she loves touching you. Physical contact if definitely her main love language. Another one that has been confessing to you since the very beginning. He's not subtle about his feelings in any way, even more so since he's come back from college. If he doesn't confess now, someone else might sweep you off your feet. She HATES BUGS! okay maybe not ALL bugs. The cute bugs can stay, but the scary ones GOTTA GO! Okay its not that she really cant drive, just more so that she absolutely despises it. You are the only thing in the world that could make her drive. Unless she's driving for you, she hates it and outright refuses to do so. She tries...she tries REALLY HARD to cook, but her cooking is more on the bad side. Like you CAN eat it, but would you WANT to? ADORES PDA! Even if you two aren't dating she'll do all the PDA you're comfy with to try and give others the wrong impression. She loves showing you off and he loves being shown off. Less overprotective then others, but that mainly because she doesn't really know your friends other then Aki, his sister. Considering how Haruto is with his brother, Jun is definitely better when it comes to being less overprotective. Has tried to date in order to get his mind off of you, but the heart wants what it wants y'know? Jun's heart wants you, so those short relationships really meant nothing. Jun couldn't even do anything romantic with others without flinching. in one relationship, Jun tried holding hands with this boy and ended up throwing up because he wasn't you. Jun felt like he was CHEATING on you which she would NEVER EVER EVER DO!!

Hoshi: You're insane if you think you can sit him down and convince him to be the little spoon. He's laughing at you. Okay, MAYBE you could convince him once or twice but you are to never speak about it again and if he says he doesn't like it then don't ask it from him again. He's never thought about lending clothes and borrowing yours. Why would he even think about you like that? he doesn't! But if you INSIST on exchanging clothes then he doesn't think you look bad and if you wanted to you could totally wear more of his stuff, but you didn't hear that from him or from me, okay? He doesn't care what other people think of him. He's a prankster and is loud and arrogant. Much like Jun, he knows that he only gets to live once. He's gonna have fun in this life, he wishes you would let up and have fun too... You're funny if you think he shows affection AT ALL! He totally doesn't show both equally 0>0 His physical affection is dragging you out to have fun, his verbal affection is telling you to loosen up and have fun. He wants you to have fun. YOLO y'know? He'd confess to you first if he actually liked you y'know? He's not nervous at all! Please accept, he literally only cares about how you think of him. He'd squash those bugs without hesitation. He'd probably make a game outta it tbh. He can drive but he shouldn't. Unless you both wanna end up dead and severely damaging others and potentially killing them, you shouldn't EVER let them drive. He actually enjoys doesn't mind cooking. He has practice from working with his dad and all. He also likes experimenting with cooking as well. Sometimes it doesn't always work out but that's fine, over the years he's gotten pretty good at telling what spices and seasonings would go best with what meal. Yooooo who marked up this chart bro? Hoshi liking PDA????? He loves it so much more then anyone could ever imagine honestly. He HATES PDA!! Despises him, like don't even touch him. Habiki: Prefers to be the big spoon but wouldn't mind you being the big spoon every once in a while if you wanted to. He doesn't care about borrowing clothes from you but if you wanted to borrow his clothes then he wouldn't be opposed He kinda likes seeing you in his stuff. He straight up does not use pet names. He thinks they're STUPID. Your name is perfect the way it is<3 Much like Haruto, he's not shy he is around you, he just doesn't like people. He's not good with his words, and although his movements are stiff and uncertain, he's trying really hard and can do stuff like that easier then telling you how he really feels. He doesn't confess first unless his patience is running extremely thin. Well he'd squash the bugs without hesitation, unless you wanted him to save the bugs and just move them out He thinks any other way is stupid and useless. He drives through and through, there's no convincing him to let you drive. He's a good driver and only trusts himself behind the wheel. He just doesn't want you getting hurt. DON'T EAT HIS COOKING! Kage: THEY CAN'T HOLD YOU!!! THEY'LL PASS OUT! Being a little spoon is hard enough for them, just being held! Lending clothes to you is one of the only thing Kage can manage to do with you. Seriously you look amazing in his clothes. USING PET NAMES IS WAY TOO MUCH!! They'll try though, if it makes you happy. Just let them sit down while they do it otherwise it'll hurt when they pass out! I don't think I need to elaborate on the introvert/extrovert section LMAOOOOOOOOOOOO! He's too shy to do ANY affection LOL their affection is just letting you do whatever you want with him. Bro can barely breathe around you, you think he can CONFESS to you??? might as well just get him to stop breathing completely, forever. Kei: Whatever you want darling. Personally he prefers being the big spoon but he also loves being held by you. He doesn't really lend or borrow clothes. Don't get him wrong though, he knows that you would look good in his clothes because you look good in everything, he's just a little nervous to ask if you wanna wear his stuff, so feel free to ask yourself! He thinks your name is perfect as is so he loves using it, but also he's had a list of cute pet names to call you since high school sooooo he's gonna put that list to good use. Although he's gotten more confident, he's still not THAT confident. He doesn't talk to people unless he needs to or unless they are you. He's good with his words, but his throat tightens whenever he's near you, so affection through shaky, inexperienced hands will have to do. He'd rather wait for you to confess, but if he is going to confess first then he's making sure that you like him 100% and that there's no doubts. He'd also just let the bugs go. Most bugs. Bugs that he absolutely despises are getting squashed immediately without mercy. One time there was this scary flying bug and I kept hitting it with the flyswatter so hard it disappeared into the backrooms, I imagine that would be him with bugs he doesn't like. He's a good driver and doesn't mind it, but if you want to drive then feel free to! He's not THE BEST cook. He's very by the recipe when it comes to cooking so depending on the recipe it may be bland, but his food is good and edible. He loves PDA but with only initiate it if you do! He's scared of scaring you off and ruining years worth of progress to have ANY kind of relationship with you. Much like Minato, he's overprotective in a "I care about this person a lot and therefore wanna make sure they are safe!" kinda way but also in a "I don't want anybody but me touching this person and even if they're looking at them or breathing in the same air it still bothers me." type of way. In a previous post I mentioned how Kei met you because you were teamed up for a project and how you were "one of the only" people that also did the work, implying there were more people? Yeah he had crushes on them, but they were very short lived crushes and he had them when he was in like elementary to middle school.

Hoy Quarlow/Super Macho Man (MachoQuarlow) Headcanons 1/?

Citing this as part one in the title because I don’t trust myself not to talk about them more. Anyway this is just my insane scribblings about these old men since this ship has been rotting in my brain for months and I need to share them with the world

Anyway. Let’s begin with some background:

Hoy Quarlow is the age he’s said to be in the game: 78 years old

Super Macho Man is lying about his age. He’s not 27 but is instead approaching his early 60’s. He lies about it because, like a lot of typical big stars, he doesn’t want to be seen as older in fear of being discarded and out of the industry’s spotlight.

Hoy Quarlow and Super Macho Man joined the WVBA (Side Note: in my au it’s called the World Video Boxing Association because it was the first association to both broadcast the fights live, but also to package and sell recordings of the fights to consumers) around the same time. Although they weren’t there at the very-very beginning of the WVBA’s formation (since my au takes place in the current year and the timeline would be messed up), they’re both older so they were there before any of the other current boxers.

Hoy came from another boxing league but joined the WVBA once he realized his old league was very stingy on his paychecks. Because of the money the WVBA produced from both the recording sales and how much money they raked in for allowing the boxers to be as theatric as they wanted.

Although his hard work and determination led him to rising in the ranks, his sales were low. So, he studied what made boxers among him so popular: their personas. So, Hoy decided to also stretch his creative muscles too. He upped the ante and straight up brought a stick into the ring. It became a Hoy Quarlow staple. That, and the fact that he started to ditch the shorts and shirtless look to take on something with more personality.

Super Macho Man came in with that name all while being a scrawny kid. Believe it or not, but for a good while, SMM was considered a Glass Joe figure when he first started. When he got in the groove though and started upping his gains, he quickly rose in the ranks and grew into the name he gave himself.

He originally joined the WVBA because he wanted to be a movie star, anticipating that the sales of the WVBA recordings will get more eyes on him and he’d be recruited on for actual movies and not just fights. However, as he started to fight more, he became happier with the spectacle of being a WVBA boxer and the fame he gained, deciding to make his main goal staying at the top and not so much appearing in movies (although he’ll absolutely take a movie deal when offered).

Hoy and Macho were sorta aggressive to each other at first. Hoy, still riding high from his placement in his past league, looked down on a lot of other boxers. This is a character flaw that, of course, got resolved later in life (we can see this with how he acts with Birdie in the SNES Super Punch-Out!!), but it was definitely a flaw he had in life at one point. He saw Macho as full of himself and not yet having the skill to back it up. He correctly guessed that Macho was doing this for fame and judged him accordingly, seeing it as an unfit reason for joining the WVBA.

Macho saw Hoy as full of himself as well. He thought Hoy needed to get over himself and stop being so “needlessly mean.” Macho knew his pursuit wasn’t noble, but to him, it didn’t matter. He was so full of himself to pre-set his persona with actually being this, well…. a super macho man. He believed he’d grow into the name (which he did). He found it stupid how Hoy was only about a decade older and he was judging Macho this hard. Macho would often tell him straight up that one day, Hoy would be eating his words and watching Macho rise while Hoy himself sank down the ranks. This is only… uh… half true.

Right now, Macho and Hoy and right next to each other in the Special Circuit. Macho is Rank #1, right before Mr. Sandman (The WVBA Champion). Hoy is Rank #2 in the Special Circuit, right before Super Macho Man.

As they both aged, Macho and Hoy started to get along. With Hoy becoming sillier and way more relaxed, he was able to connect with Macho more. With Macho getting more full of himself, Hoy sorta saw himself in him and although he has fun with him, is trying to guide him away from the lonely life that being that high in ranks can bring. There’s all these camera flashes and people will be all over you and asking for deals, but they don’t love you.

OKAY… now that that’s over, I’ll be putting more headcanons under the cut. It’ll be more shippy, but it’ll still work as a “background section��� if that makes sense that outlines their life together. I think this post should be in general about their background. Okay… cool.

I think Macho was kinda mixed up about his feelings for Hoy. Their relationship was definitely simmering for years, real rivals to fun friendly rivalry to friends to lovers. Macho never expected to fall for Hoy at all, and when he did, he didn’t know how to feel. He wondered what it’d be like to date another league member. Could he do that? What would the press do? Would the gossip magazines make Hoy look like a cougar… 🤨? Either way, he was nervous.

What also adds to it is that Macho is a pretty famous playboy. If he starts actually dating long-term (which he… actually kinda wants to explore with Hoy), how would that affect his reputation? With all these worries involving insecurities from outsiders, he was definitely indecisive with what he wanted to do. Hoy on the other hand… had different problems.

I fully subscribe to the “Hoy is Dragon Chan’s grandparent” headcanon. Hoy’s wife (aka Dragon Chan’s grandma, was married. They had a daughter who, just like her son, was a very determined kickboxer. She fell in love with Dragon’s father and they soon had a son, Dragon Chan. However, one fateful day, when Dragon was about 10 or so, his parents died in a fatal car accident (or at least that’s what my explanation is right now). Years later, Hoy’s wife died as well. She had a heart attack, although many say it was onset by a broken heart.

Dragon Chan, after getting kicked out of his kickboxing league while trying to live up to his mother’s legacy, joined the WVBA and gave him a place there. Dragon became popular quickly, and his ego became bigger (this is supported by his overconfidence in the ring and in pre fight rounds alongside his “chicken dance taunt” when he KO’s/TKO’s you). Dragon’s behavior only slightly reminds Hoy of his own ego at that age, and Hoy, although still giving advice to his grandson, knows that Dragon needs to discover his own path to humbleness.

Okay back to the tragedy of Hoy’s wife, daughter, and son-in-law. These tragedies caused Hoy to feel as if death followed him and anyone he loves. He blamed himself for all of their deaths, even if he had nothing to do with them. He was afraid to love again and to make another family, although this attitude is usually hidden by his now lighthearted personality.

Of course, this caused Hoy’s love life to become… confused I guess? Hoy was deathly worried of his family hurting even more. He was also worried for Dragon Chan, believing that there’s a chance he’d be mad that Hoy is trying to “replace” his grandma and pretend she never existed. Of course, Dragon doesn’t really care for that. His problem arises with Hoy’s dating choices when he realizes that it’s Super Macho Man of all people that Hoy is dating like huh that jerk grandpa? That loser? Cmon

I’ll probably elaborate on this in another post but the beef between Dragon Chan and Super Macho Man is so special to me. It’s like a family movie where the kid doesn’t like their new step-dad except the kid is a 22 year old grandchild who can actually kick Macho’s ass if he wanted to (and he does)

I think the first person to actually make a move was Super Macho Man. Macho was able to catch Hoy in the locker room after a fight and he asked Hoy if he would like to “hang out” sometime together, outside of WVBA mixers or some other thing, of course.

Hoy found it cute. He sorta laughed softly at it at first before he saw Macho’s dejected face. He realized it was genuinely series and he kinda flushed. Definitely went kinda quiet with an “O…Oh,” before trying to think of what to say next.

He agrees by the way. Though I think in another post I’ll elaborate

I shook my head, trying to ignore my face turning red, “I already told you several times, Peggy; No. I don’t, and I don’t think anyone will ask me. No one is going to when John’s staring over my shoulder at the guy.” I lied, knowing that none of my friends, and especially John, would disapprove of who I’d said I was going with… The truth was that I’d been dating Charles Lee for the past few months behind my brother’s back, knowing that the two of them didn’t get along, well that was an understatement, John hated Charles after he’d said something rude to Mr Washington’s face, but in my opinion, he was just a little bean who needed love. Before any of the three sisters could reply, my phone pinged. I pulled it out of my pocket and looked to see a message from John, causing me to roll my eyes, ‘You got a date yet?’

I just scoffed and looked up to where John and his friends were sitting at a table on the other side of the lunch hall, seeing him smiling at me. I rolled my eyes again and returned to my phone, ‘Yes. At least I’m doing better than you. Tell Alex now, or I’ll do it for you.’

I could see the colour draining from his face as I stood up on the table (It was attached to the floor, the reader is perfectly safe up on it), “HEY ALEX!”

At that point, I now have everyone’s eyes on me and I smirked, “JOHN’S GOT A MASSIVE CRUSH ON YOU!” I jumped off the table after taking a quick look at both boys’ bright red faces, and grabbed my phone, dashing out of the lunch hall, knowing I was going to get an earful when we got home. I ran down the hall, wanting to get to my next class, knowing the teacher would let me sit in the classroom, as long as I was quiet, which I normally was. However, I bumped into someone, “Hey, watch where- Hi, (Y/n).”

“Hi, Charles,” I replied, pecking his lips before pulling him along with me to our English classroom and knocking on the door. Once I was allowed entry, I opened the door and pulled Charles in with me.

“Hello, (Y/n). I take it you want to spend the rest of your lunch in here?”

I nodded, “Yeah. I hope that’s okay. I just don’t want to face my brother right now.”

“Fair enough. I won’t impose and ask why, as long as you two are quiet.”

I nodded and sat down in my normal seat, pulling Charles next to me, “Sorry for randomly dragging you off, I just didn’t want John to find us. I may or may not have done something stupid in the lunch hall… I jumped up on the table and shouted to everyone in there that John had a crush on Alex. I’m just sick of him pining after the gremlin, just get on with it and confess already… Oh shit, I probably made Eliza uncomfortable too. I mean, she’s dating Alex, how’s she goin to feel? I’m such a shit sister…” I muttered quietly enough so that our teacher couldn’t hear me swearing.

“You’re not, (Y/n). Hamilton should know the truth. Then he can decide what to do, better than you having to put up with your brother sulking for the rest of his life because he couldn’t get the courage to confess.”

“You’re right, Charles.”

MEANWHILE - JOHN’S POV (Just after you ran out)

I sat there, my face bright red as I tried to avoid eye contact with Alex. Knowing he wouldn’t want to be friends with me anymore…

“Look, Alex, I’m sorry. (Y/n) doesn’t know what she’s talking about. I promise you I don’t have any romantic interest in you. Sorry if what she said made you uncomfortable. I-”

“John, don’t lie to me. I’ve known for ages. I was just waiting for you to say something yourself.”

“WHAT?! I-I… I should go,” I muttered the last statement, standing up and going to walk out of the lunch hall, until I felt a hand grab my wrist, “Where are you going?”

“Away from you, Alexander, please let me go,” I muttered, trying not to show my friends I was crying, and pulled my arm from his grasp and ran out, not caring about the stares I was getting.

“Just leave me alone. I deserve it.”

That’s when I saw a familiar blue dress enter my small field of vision, and I froze up, “ELIZA! Shit, I’m so sorry! Please don’t hate me. I know you and Alex are dating, that’s why I kept it to myself. Honestly, I’m trying to get over it. I-” She shut me up with a kiss and I froze, incredibly confused, “D-did you- Just… I-What?!”

“Alex and I have been talking, John, and well, Alex admitted he’s bisexual, and that he’s in love with you too, and the truth is, I am too.”

“WHAT?!”

Eliza just giggled, sitting down on th bench next to me, “It’s true, John. Now, I think you should go and find your sister and thank her before she starts avoiding you because she thinks you hate her.

That made his face turn red and he turned his attention to the drink in his hand, bringing it up to his mouth in an attempt to cover the blush, causing me to giggle, “You’re adorable, Charles.”

He smiled at me and placed a hand on my cheek, leaning down and pecking me on the lips.

JOHN’S POV

“John… mon ami, you might want to look at this…”

“What is it, Laf? I’m trying to fin-What the Hell is he doing to her?!” I replied, interrupting myself the minute I saw Lee making (Y/n) laugh. He placed a hand on her cheek and leaned down, kissing her, making my blood boil, “What the HELL is he doing, and why isn’t she stopping him?! Laf, hold me back before I fuck his face up!”

“Mon ami, stop. You cannot control the power of love.”

“WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?”

“Well… mon ami, don’t hate me for being the one to tell you this, but they’ve been dating for the past six months.”

“Why didn’t she tell me?!”

“Probably cause of your reaction, John,” Alex piped in, wrapping his arms around my neck from behind and kissing my cheek, “(Y/n) looks up to you like you’re a god. She puts her relationship with you above everything else, she wouldn’t want you to never talk to her again because of who her boyfriend is.”

“How are you always right, Alex?”

“I do not know, John. But you might want to let her know before she runs off and secretly gets married to him or something.”

I sighed and nodded, knowing Alex was right and walked over calmly to where (Y/n) was standing with Lee.

“Oh shit, Charles, you might want to run…” I muttered, seeing John walking over out of the corner of my eye.

“I’ve already seen, (Y/n). No point in trying to run, Lee,” John spoke, causing both me and Charles to gulp and for him to remove his arm from my waist. John continued, “I know we do not get on very well, Lee, however, I was informed that you two have been dating for the past six months and (Y/n), you are my sister, I’d always put your happiness over a petty argument. So for your sake, I will try to get along with Lee.”

I smiled widely and hugged him, “So… you’re not mad about the whole lunch hall situation yesterday?”

“Oh…” was all John said, his face turning bright red, “Well... Thanks to your shtick yesterday, I now have a wonderful boyfriend and girlfriend. Thank you, (Y/n).”

“What are little sisters for? I wouldn’t have done what I did if I knew the two of them didn’t like you back,” I replied, hugging him, Now go and have fun with your partners!”

John nodded and walked back over to where Alex and Eliza were, Laf being off dancing with Angelica, and Peggy with Hercules, leaving me with Charles. Not that I was complaining, “I love you.”

“I love you too, (Y/n). Glad your brother didn’t murder me.”

I just giggled and kissed him, “So am I, Charlie, so am I.”

First off: so this whole plan is a deal between the Dead Three? I knew Ketheric had ties to Myrkul and the Bhaalists' affiliation is right there in the name, but I didn't realize Gortash served Bane. That's interesting. Also incredibly concerning, I am very worried about whatever's got these three working together, it can't be good for life in Faerûn. Guess that explains why they're important enough to get loading screen text...

Anyway, more importantly! Did Durge write this?! Is this what got them tadpoled, were they planning to betray the other Chosen to end the world and Orin ratted them out? They don't comment on it at all, not even to recognize their handwriting, but given the amnesia and brain damage situation that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Getting some really strong daddy's kid energy from this, too. Like, they're going to end the damn world and kill everyone alive to make Daddy proud, that's... unhealthy. That's an unhealthy thing to do for parental validation. Don't do that. Although I suppose that does explain why they wanted the Slayer so badly, given it seems to be like. the ultimate expression of Bhaal's favour. Working on the assumption that Durge did write this I can't wait for Bhaal to actually make an appearance, I'm sure it'll be awful in the best way possible. The bit about them being created to be the last soul alive and them fully intending to die on Bhaal's altar at the end is also... a lot. Please can the party return the "let's help our friends escape the conditioning and/or control of the shitty incredibly powerful being who's been fucking up their lives" favour if/when Durge regains their memories, because I'm sure that's going to cause problems. And it seems like Orin did rat them out somehow, which... seems odd, given you'd think this would be her ultimate goal as well. If I had to make a guess I'd say either she's not quite as loyal to their father as Durge is, Durge got a touch overzealous in deciding what their father's will actually was, or this is Orin's goal too and she just wants the glory of being the one to enact it. Or maybe she decided that given Durge wrote this shit down they weren't smart enough. I hope they at least intended to destroy it...

Also: I haven't even met Gortash yet and I think I'm already starting to see why people ship him with Durge. I mean that "Forgive me, Father, for I cannot help but admire the Chosen of your sworn foe" bit? The note itself is called something like Prayer for Forgiveness (I don't remember the exact name and I can't find it on the wiki but I'm certain it talks about forgiveness, if I'd thought of it I'd have made a note of it but I didn't), so the apology is very much the reason why this was written! It has the same energy as apologizing to your parents for falling for the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks, I feel. And an excellent opportunity for enemies to lovers...

Your Dream Mike / Dream Will scenario pieces are tender perfection and exactly what I have been looking for this entire time… a mix of empathy and realism and indulgence and unavoidable horniness, but also good storytelling, characterisation; this isnt smut, this is character study and inner psyche. I didnt find it sad until that final paragraph of will’s omfg </3

Overall it was so beautiful because it was so real. And how beautiful also is it that we all share these experiences in one way or another? It’s so human to discover your sexuality, whatever that may be. And almost every one of us does this magical discovery in secret and shame, no matter the gender or orientation. It’s the connection we feel when we reveal these vulnerabilities that makes coming of age and sex in storytelling so beautiful to me. I can’t believe others are out there who say this is disgusting. What you just wrote is so so wonderful. I was completely immersed.

the attention to detail in mike’s??? This is what I mean when I say I wanna see into mike’s head for s5. Duffers, take note! I especially loved the very specifically gay confusion of ‘do I want him or do I want to be him?’ 

Then will with his own shape of internalised homophobia… experimenting with objects and we can feel how he’s ever so slightly further ahead in his journey, but the journey differs slightly from mike’s. Clothes disappearing = so accurate to dreamland, and the sudden switch to intrusive thoughts of mike being phobic right after his euphoria dies down? Damn <3 + the way his petty theft links to him talking about robbing the the casino in s4, these little truths that slip out cos he feels safe with mike to say them. 

I love the overall thing of ‘I dont know why or even how but I know I want’ cos that is teenage desire in a nutshell. The mystery is what makes sexuality so magical! Amazing work. I adore this. 

p.s. this has made me remember something I heard on a radio show when I was like 14, where the hosts were comedians talking about having saucy dreams about people. One expressed shame on seeing the object of desire in person again, but the other said ‘I enjoy it. It’s fun, you just look at them and think: you dont know what you were doing in my dream last night.’ And the casual/cheeky way he said it made me immediately so comfortable with fantasising about people I crushed on, it basically removed all the shame of fantasy at 14 and I started to see it as funny and silly and natural and lovely. Really grateful for that radio show! Ofc, actually doing stuff is a different kettle of fish… 

I'm really flattered that little drabble has resonated with people! Now I really want to carve out time in the future to develop something more refined and in depth.

I'm glad you mentioned something about character study vs smut and that's one thing I really like and I think the general fandom doesn't understand why some fans do like to talk more about these topics - it's just such a disservice when youre dealing with characters in certain storylines, ignoring or demeaning the actual sexual aspect of sexuality is so... wrong? It's in the name. We have two characters who are facing identity issues, attraction to others in a way society doesn't accept, growing up, learning about their own wants and desires. The straight characters are allowed this in the show. The gay ones shouldn't get pushed to the side for whatever reason that may be.

Do I and many others have fun talking and thinking about the fun, surface level spicy/horny aspects of shipping? Sex headcanons, little scenarios? Sure!! That's fun, that's human nature. But on the flip side, it's because we also love the characters and spending time mentally developing how they got there is also very good and compelling and super important.

And back to stuff you pointed out, ooooh yes, one of the aspects I think is an important detail for their journey: 'do I want him or do I want to be him?’ This is everything. It's so so formative for a lot of people!! Speaking from experience, absolutely. Honestly, a lot of that little writing exercise was spoken from experience.

But that's what it's like for a lot of people! And it's interesting to analyze characters this way, inject the reality. Yes we love Mike and Will and yes we recognize they are gay and we want them to get together... hey fandom, how did they both get there?? Why does it matter to you? What do you all think is happening in Mike's head when you like to allude to wanting to peek into the tangle of his brain - what are you actually expecting to find? It's gonna be some vein of what I wrote if you believe he's a teenager facing a struggle with his identity and sexuality. It's just that I see a lot of fans skimming a puddle as to why they even care about these boys getting into a relationship. What's happening in their rich inner lives, which because they are fictional we must as fans think about and create ourselves.

I've meant to fill this out for a bit, but recent life events have kept me off Tumblr for a while. But, as always, I love talking about my horribly lovely boy-creature. Here y'all go!

ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴍᴀᴅᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴘɪᴄᴋ ᴜᴘ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄᴜʀʀᴇɴᴛ ᴍᴜꜱᴇ(ꜱ) ʏᴏᴜ ʜᴀᴠᴇ?

I've wondered this for years, actually, and I believe it's the product of several factors. I honestly think of it less as "pick up" and more as "latch onto." I got into Hetalia when I was twelve and living in extremely bad conditions. There was a point when I didn't really think I'd get out. But little me saw Sealand and saw myself in him, I suppose. He was kind of everything I wanted to be--determined, free, and a wildcard. I needed somewhere to put everything I couldn't handle, and so he became my outlet. Now I mainly write adult Sealand because he's grown with me. I'm not a system, but I am high enough on the dissociative scale that I can tell there was some mental illness effects on my identification with him. There was at one point a bit of breakdown between "him" and "me," and it stuck.

ɪꜱ ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ᴅᴏɴ'ᴛ ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴛᴏ ᴡʀɪᴛᴇ?

I don't like writing (or even reading, really) kid Sealand. By that I mean the fanon era Sea where he was almost purely written as naive, annoying, etc. It's likely because my brain has conflated him so much with my younger self, but I just can't do it. I can't write him as a young child without thinking of my younger self, which....doesn't vibe at all. Also SeaLat. Nothing against it; it's just a squick of mine since Latvia tends to be a sore subject for me.

ɪꜱ ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ʀᴇᴀʟʟʏ ᴇɴᴊᴏʏ ᴡʀɪᴛɪɴɢ?

Aside from the obvious adult Sealand, I love writing dark and gritty content. I grew up on it, and so it's stuck with me. I enjoy exploring psychology and the depths of depravity humans can harbor. One of my favorite genres is psychological horror, so I tend to incorporate a lot of those elements. I tend to think of gore and whump as my expertise.

ʜᴏᴡ ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴄᴏᴍᴇ ᴜᴘ ᴡɪᴛʜ ʜᴇᴀᴅᴄᴀɴᴏɴꜱ?

I don't even know. I almost always have several lore threads/timelines I work on concurrently, so ideas and pieces just kind of fall into place over time. A lot of them arise from music, though others come from quotes, people watching, or myself. I can't pull from one singular source because humans are by default an amalgamation of experiences. The same goes for characters!

It depends on where I am. Sometimes I'll just jot down bits and pieces in my notes app as they come to me. Other times I'll actually sit down and have something playing, be it music, a true crime podcast, or video essay.

Anyone else think her Huntlow post was a bit…unhinged?

I mean, I like the show. I don’t care enough to join a discord or anything, but it’s a fun watch.

But her constant accusations of the fandom being racist or emo edge-lords is starting to take up her identity as a fan of the show. And as someone who has only tackled a bit into the (tumblr) side of the fandom, I think majority of them are sane, nice people. Sure, there’s always a bigot, but what fandom doesn’t have one? They generally accept anyone until that someone crosses the line.

I think this woman needs to stay away from this fandom. All she adds is toxicity and unnecessary conflict between fans.

i think LO legitimately just forgot that a not small portion of the TOH fandom are teenagers, a majority of them probably teenager girls or afab people, because the show is all about that demographic. i always found it so disgusting for a grown woman on her 30s to go around telling teenage girls that they couldn't find a teenage fictional boy attractive. that would be some "i'm not like other girls" type of behaviour that reeks of internalized misogyny if LO was of their same age, but since she's a lot older than that? it's... pathetic. i actually don't have another word to describe it. it is pathetic for a 30 year old woman to be this mad about what teenagers girl like online on a show that was made for them, not LO. side note: that is not straightwashing means. Luz is bi so she dating a boy wouldn't contradict anything at all about her canon identity. i feel like LO slip up here by showing off, once again, that to her the only valid representation is when there is a romantic/sexual relationship between two people of the same gender and nothing else. a bi girl dating a boy is not legitimate representation according to LO, who loves to commit some bisexual erasure even against real life bisexual women who disagreed with her by calling them straight too. bisexual women are always queer, no matter who they date. here Rowan Ellis (no relation to Lindsay Ellis so LO can relax) made recently a whole video going in depth about the concept:

i do really recommend people to watch it, but to make it short: straightwashing is when a company decides to take a character that was established to be queer on it's original story and erase that identity when translated into other type of media. example: character was a lesbian on the novel, gets a boyfriend without any mention of queerness in the movie adaptation. people writing fanfiction can't do that because fanworks are never going to be on the same level of legitimacy as an official adaptation. those people who, again, on this context are most surely underage, afab and likely to be not straight themselves. people with zero power to erase the canon identity of any character like big production companies have. as to "fans of white boy needing to calm down"... i'd say the same about the 30 year old woman who celebrates for the death of a fictional teenager boy in a show made for tweens.

yeah, it might be a weird idea for a ship but what if Sari did end up going to the Human's Heaven because well, her spark is also a hybrid between a human soul and cybertronian spark, so it is like a techno-organic spark.

and during her time in Heaven, and besides noticing the corruption and not fully trusting The Exorcist Angels, Adam or Sera.

she ended up becoming close with Emily, and if Heavenborns do age but stop at a certain point but still carry some form of Elder Wisdom.

it could be possible that if Sari died at 18 or like late 19 and early 20s, and Emily is 18 or late 19 early 20s in a biological way but could be like 120 years old, like late 190 years and early 120 years.

Sari still being able to age, could have to do with the celestial powers of the allspark, maybe.

but like picture if Sari did meet with her Autobot Friends again after running away with Emily from Heaven and going to the Hazbin Hotel and not knowing the Autobots and Decepticons are there.

even if Megatron (who I'm still gonna Crossover OTP ship him with Carmilla Carmine making them Megamilla) has no idea he is Sari's Cybertronian Parent, he could be supportive.

plus if it was like in Steven Universe, if Sari and Emily ever fused their fusion would be a embodiment of their love and would be a relationship.

but fusion, both romantic and platonic isn't just a Gem thing.

because Tigatron and Airazor forming into Tigerhawk, even if at first it wasn't of their free will and choice, but they took their fused body back when their sparks became one and went into their now fusion body.....so yeah, Tigerhawk is a romantic fusion and came way before Garnet, but both Garnet and Tigerhawk will be my favorite romantic fusions.

I think if Sari and Emily did fuse, they would be what Steven would describe as a Giant Woman, who will have wings, four eyes, but there being a fifth that is closed and possibly other eyes, and there being four arms but still two legs, but the fusion form being able to use a default form where they can appear with just two arms along with just having two legs.

the ship name for Sari x Emily, can either be Sarimily or EmiSari.

also even if Clara from Season 1 and Pilot are the same but difference design, I like to view the pilot version as being a third daughter and being possibly the middle child, while the Clara that shows up in Season 1, is the youngest.

like we could call the Pilot-Clara by a different name while the Other version is still called Clara...

like Carmilla's Three Daughters are Odette, Clara and Clarice.

Clarice being The Pilot-Clara, and she could be in The Fanon Timeline, the middle sibling, like Odette being the eldest sibling and Clara being the youngest.

if Megatron and Carmilla did get married, even if it was only in Fanon.

Soundwave (who I'm still gonna view as being separate from the Other one who was born on Cybertron and is also known as Soundblaster...) would not only have Sari as a big sister who he shares a birthday with, but he would get more big sisters...

and if Carmilla did have three daughters, and Sari did end up marrying Emily....that would give Soundwave three step-sisters and one sister-in-law, which adding Sari that would give Soundwave about....Five Older Sisters.

like it be interesting if Sari felt guilty about how she treated him before and may understand he might never forgive her or want to form a sibling bond, because they were both technically made by Megatron, even if the situation of their creation from him was different.

but it would still be interesting if Sari got really protective of Soundwave, like in a protective big sister wanting to protect her baby brother way.

like just because he might not want anything to do with her, and she can respect that, but it doesn't mean she will stand by and let anyone mess with her baby brother and if she forms a sisterly bond with Odette, Clarice and Clara, who could end up bonding with Soundwave and viewing him like the baby brother they never had...

well anyone who dares try anything with their precious baby brother, would have to answer to those four...who could be way scarier than Shockwave, for all we know.

I wasn't sure about the name Clarice for the Pilot-Clara, but I think I'm starting to like it a bit more as well as the Fanon idea about Clarice being Odette and Clara's sister and Carmilla's third daughter.

anyway besides the whole ship idea about Sari x Emily, and Sari coming out to her Autobot friends that she is Biromantic and the whole her introducing Emily as her girlfriend, and the only one not getting the full meaning of that would be Bumblebee...and it has to be explained to him, because he might only understand some romantic relationships that seem similar to cybertronian courtships.

so he could mistake the whole Sari saying that Emily is her girlfriend, meaning she is a Gal Buddy and thus platonic friend...

Bumblebee might not be 100% naive and he could understand some form of romantic relationships, but might not get some stuff right away.

so Sari would have to help with explaining in a way that Bumblebee will understand, and that is by saying that in Cybertronian terms, Emily is her Femfriend, which then Bumblebee will finally understand.

ya know like Mechfriend would be similar to Boyfriend, but if a Cybertronian is Nonbinary, they would be Partner, but only some who go by She/They or He/They would end up going by both Partner and Girlfriend or Boyfriend.

it could be possible it is The Boy Ars Goetia that has the baby...

like in theory, it can be like the Asari from Mass Effect who can have children with any species or gender.

so Stella may claim she had the egg, but she likely didn't and only thought she did and her brother and the rest of her family NEVER gave her the talk.

Stolas was possibly the one to have the egg in the first place, meaning he was technically pregnant.

it could be possible that Lucifer from Hazbin Hotel, was the one who was pregnant with Charlie, not Lilith.

while he could end up turning out to be possibly Cain's Bio-Dad, even if it is a Hazbin Hotel version of Cain and possibly ending up being Charlie's Older Half-Brother...

him causing Eve to become pregnant, while still ending up pregnant himself, could mean that Charlie's Dad is able to make someone else pregnant but also become so himself...

Lucifer likely had mood swings and was acting in a way that drove Lilith a bit crazy but like also made her tired.

and before Stolas laid the egg that would hatch and become Octavia, he likely got mood swings as well, and would be very aggressive to Stella one minute but then crying and apologizing the next.

the reasons why Fizz and Ozzie hadn't end up in the same way, and Fizz having to deal with Ozzie's mood swings and weird food cravings, could be because they are careful...that and Ozzie may not of told Fizz about how he can get pregnant, but he makes sure to prevent it.

so it could be possible that Blitz and Stolas could become parents, and giving Octavia a half-sibling....

Stella could of been asleep when Stolas had the egg that would hatch and become Octavia.

Andrealphus you cold heart himbo, ya need to give your sister talk, and I don't mean the other talk ya had with her, about calling off Striker. but telling her the truth that it is the Boy Ars Goetia that has the baby, NOT the girl...

if it is possibly true, then Andrea not giving his sister the talk could of been well, because he never really considered he had to be the one to give it, and may have thought that it would be his parents who would explain to her.

plus it could be possible the female Ars Goetia could get pregnant as well, but something happen to cause them to become not able to and the only thing left was for them to get a male pregnant.

and in theory, the only female and well nonbinary-gal ones who are technically Demi-Goetia who can still possibly get pregnant, but are half-human, live on Earth...

(feel free to skip some of this and keep a eye out for the bold letters...) yeah if it truly turns out the Phenex from this universe makes up one of my angelic parents (even if I still am biologically my human dad's daughter) and one of my soul-parents is another Earth Angel...and well anyway it could be possible that some angels and well even half ones who are human, come from a type of egg that the soul is placed in, well a small soul orb that would end up growing in the egg and then hatch.

if Phenex did break off a piece of themselves, it could be the part that faced the truth that they aren't returning to heaven anytime soon or in the years they believe...

and even if some might tell me I wasn't a accident, I know technically I was...and yeah for all I know it could be possible that the Stolas from this universe had to watch over and protect me until someone finally got me, which might of took a lot longer than it should have...

and if that whole thing is linked to a certain part in one of my past lives, which I'm lucky I don't have full memories of...

I am not going to forgive the group of humans that were involved...

forgiveness can't just be well, as fast or as easy as some might think, plus one thing is that the ones who need forgiveness would need to feel true remorse and understand from the other person's point of view not just there own, even if they might not fully understand it but could try to.

but there is just some things that can't be forgiven, even if your told you have to, and my past life selves had been hurt more than once possibly and it might be a good thing I don't have full memories of it, and it can be possible some memories could be copies from my Earth Angel Mom, who may have fragmented a part of herself which would become me.

there were some videos that talked about a Soul Resetting, didn't really watch the videos, only read the names about it...

it makes me wonder about what would happen to me if my Soul Resets, will I end up breaking and falling apart, like how Ruby and Sapphire started to fall apart when Garnet learned the truth about Rose or the time when Pearl tricked Garnet into forming Sardonyx.

will I cease to be me, or will I still be me but something will feel off.

I don't want to cease to be myself, I can accept that I'm some kind of soul fusion, and I guess it could be possible I am a relationship, possibly...not sure.

not everyone has to agree about that, plus it could be possible that some who recall only small bits and pieces of past life memories but not fully, they could end up remembering memories that aren't theirs but belong to their soul-parent or soul-parents.

anyway back to the whole theory about Stolas and Lucifer being the ones who became pregnant and having Octavia and Charlie...

and if you think about it, if Megatron is Sari's Other Dad and he did have her in the secret lab when he was in some kind of stasis coma.

Megatron was technically pregnant as well, of course in the Shattered Glass Universe version it was Optimus who had went through the budding stage.

meaning that SG-Sari is SG-Optimus's Daughter, while in the timeline where Sari is from, she is the daughter of Megatron.

maybe sometime I will do a ship drawing of Sari x Emily, not sure if I will add that to "Falling For The Angel In Disguise" but if I did, that would mean that Swindle would get a rival.

that story is still going to be on a bit of a hiatus, along with the "Spinelluva Boss: Home Is Where The Spinel Is"

if I do decide to Cross-post some of the chapters from those two stories on here, I will but no promises.

(editing this in to say that those two stories, I had posted them over at Quotev, and even if "Spinelluva Boss: Home Is Where The Spinel Is" and "Falling For The Angel In Disguise" isn't well 100% perfect, it's okay that not everyone reads it, but I'm happy some seem to like the story even if those two stories I wrote aren't 100% perfect, and well it might be a while before I start to write the next chapters of them so for now they will stay on hiatus...and if I do decide to, I might cross-post some of the chapters of each of those two stories on here maybe, but once again no promises...and it really is okay that not many are interested in those stories, I'm fine with it being only a few that seem to enjoy those two stories so far. oh and both stories are for mature audiences only, because of what can be like 18+ scenes that aren't fully graphic probably, but I think some scenes in both of those stories will be kind of around 18+ but still in a different way...)

I still plan to have Sari use the Asmodean to disguise herself in the story "Falling For The Angel In Disguise" which once again the story did start out slightly different and the original female heroine was replaced by Sari.

the original female heroine still plays a part in the story, but she might be a side character or supporting character now at this point.

also is weird to get the idea about wanting to lock Adam from Hazbin Hotel, in a closet.

and if Lute, Emily or Sera or even Charlie, Vaggie, Lucifer or anyone else asks...

I would say that "Adam is in the Closet." cause he would really be in the closet, cause he was put in there on purpose.

it can also reference to a theory that Adam may be in the Bi Closet...

even if he finds some kind of attraction about finding Charlie and Vaggie's relationship to be hot...

but besides him being attracted to females, and nonbinary-women.

it could be possible Adam from Hazbin Hotel, could be in the closet, and not just because I want to push him in there and keep him in the closet possibly to give him a time out.

like even if he does come back as a Sinner, he would probably end up having a hard time hiding the fact that he likes guys as well, and that he is bisexual, I mean if it does turn out to be true...

if I made a bet with Alastor about it, and if I turned out to be right, he will have to give me all the strawberries I can eat, with melted chocolate to dip the strawberries in, he will have to pay up in strawberries with a bowl of melted chocolate. XD

it could be possible that Adam could be in the closet and was always in the closet but never fully realized it.

and as strange as it is, it could be possible as much of a Peepaw Dirtbag that he is, he could likely become a bit better and less of a heartless jerk if he came back as a Sinner, sure he wouldn't change much, but he could possibly become a bit more caring, maybe.

it could be possible that even if Adam and maybe Lute became better, and reformed in some way, it might not be the same for Lilith.

even if we might not want to admit it, it could be possible that Lilith from Hazbin Hotel, isn't a good person, I mean she might of been at some point at first even when she and Lucifer fell into Hell.

the Lilith from that universe and this one, might have slightly same backgrounds, but there are still some experiences that they had that are different.

Lucifer in the show, seemingly only did the whole stuff that was mentioned in the book that Charlie was reading.

and that would mean that Lucifer didn't have the same type of rebellion as the one from this universe, and the two are different as night and day.

I still want to give the one from this universe the cold hands to face punishment...and he probably freaking knows why.

as for Charlie's Dad, I just want to glomp the Adorkable Apple Goober and protect him, he is such a sweetie apple dumpling that needs to be protected. XD

I'm a Weird Earth Angel, who I think the whole weirdness runs in the family....The Embodiment Of Weirdness can be some form of silliness and laughter, and well having your fun weird side out might be helpful at times when you felt a bit sad or mad before.

anyway if it is true that it is the Male Ars Goetia that has the baby, and well the Female Ars Goetia were once able to, but can't anymore.

it could be possible that Stolas may have already given Octavia the talk about the whole how she was really born, so Octavia would know that it was Stolas who was pregnant, not Stella.

as for the whole if Lucifer ever gave Charlie the talk, it is possible he didn't and she only knows about some info about how babies are made and it has to do with the Moms being the ones who are pregnant.

and what could of kept him from giving her the talk, might have to do with his depression and the divorce with Lilith.

he could of made plans on how to explain about the whole him being the one to be pregnant, not Lilith...like him having to explain it using the ducks or puppets.

it be nice if we turn out to be wrong about Lilith from Hazbin Hotel, that she isn't some two-faced, toxic-feminine, selfish and egotistical as well as self absorbed person...

we will have to wait and see and hope for the best.

but her being in Heaven instead of Hell, and her not calling Charlie back despite the fact Charlie had probably been calling her for 7 years...who knows why she never told her own daughter why she was off in Heaven, and making her daughter believe she was just off doing something important.

if it turns out Lilith left for selfish reasons, and not the understandable kind, if it were possible, I would want to punch her.

even if I may be shorter than her, and well I could find a way...

at least the Lilith from our universe had reasons why she fell, one of them being that during Adam's younger days, he was a selfish and full of himself and didn't truly treat her like a person and didn't give her the space she needed to heal properly, and the three angels involved in trying to force her to go back to him, aren't off the hook either. yeah even if they are doing some good now, but if they truly hurt Lilith past a breaking point, it wouldn't just be Adam who is partly responsible.

one can only hope they feel some form of remorse and Adam had matured and became less selfish and no longer so insensitive.

anyway we can only hope that Lilith isn't going to be some nonredeemable villain, while it might only be Lute and Sinner-Adam who get redeemed, and end up working together with Emily to help Charlie.

but even if we do hope that Lilith wont be some villain, it doesn't mean it wont happen, so it is possible she could end up being one and Charlie might have to face some tough truths about her Mom.

one of them being she is a Toxic-Feminist and makes herself out like she is the good and better parent, even if she may have did some good for Charlie, it doesn't mean everything she has done for her was truly for her.

we know that both Greg Universe and Isaac Sumdac are Gray-Parents, not really being 100% good parents but not really bad either.

but it doesn't mean that their children, Steven and Sari wouldn't figure out there was some things they did wrong when trying to raise them.

just because Steven is Half-Gem and Sari is Half-Cybertronian, doesn't mean they aren't still human.

so they would still need to go to a doctor, and Isaac could of programed a robot with some medical knowledge and learn and adapt to how to take care of Sari who was half-human and half-cybertronian.

Greg might still be a beloved character, but he still made some mistakes that some fans may have called him out on, like still liking him but not really liking that he never used that money he got from Marty, to use to pay for maybe a home tutor for Steven, or using it to pay for Steven when he has to go to the hospital.

parents don't need to be perfect, but even if we can still like Greg and Isaac, it doesn't mean they wont end up showing their bad parenting side.

at least Steven was able to get some form of education from Pearl, Garnet and Amethyst.

Pearl is like Steven's Mom, even if Rose is as well, but it was Pearl, Garnet and Amethyst that basically raised Steven.

even if Greg did only kept Steven when he was baby and until he was a bit old enough to live with Pearl, Garnet and Amethyst.

plus there were times when Greg was being selfish, like faking still being hurt, I mean it is nice he wants to spend time with his son, but it still doesn't mean he was in the right with those actions.

even if Isaac did some things right when raising Sari, it doesn't mean he didn't make some mistakes as well...

and well in a Fanon Timeline like in Hazformers, Sari may have never got the chance to tell her Dad, Isaac Sumdac that she is Biromantic.

so if someone hired I.M.P. to take care of Isaac, he would possibly end up as a Sinner in Hell, but not because he was helping Megatron when he was held captive.

it would be because he took some parts and reverse engineered a living being that wasn't truly dead/offline but was in a stasis coma.

so while Sari could end up in Heaven, her Dads Isaac and Megatron would be in the other place.

and if Sari did run away with Emily, and end up meeting Isaac and her Autobot friends in the Hazbin Hotel.

she could introduce Emily as her girlfriend and finally coming out to her human Dad, who would be a Sinner at the moment, about her being bi.

Charlie and Emily could of formed a sisterly bond, and if she did find out that Emily is dating Sari who is half-cybertronian, she could be happy for her and that she found someone that will always be by her side.

the idea of Sari x Emily is just well a ship idea that pop into my head, and the chances of others liking the ship idea is likely very small.

anyway, I'm not really sure what else to say about that or the whole Lucifer and Stolas being the ones that were pregnant with their daughters, and Stella and Lilith were NEVER pregnant at all, only took full credit possibly.

anyway I'm just gonna check out a few more stuff on here and then I will log off...so yeah, maybe next time I will make a second poll that is even weirder than that first one that has to do with Adorkable Apple Goobers. XD

I read your meta about the contrast between the Jon/Arya relationship and the Sansa/Joffrey one and it made me wonder something. If Jon is the foil to Joffrey then does mean Gendry is redundant, has served his purpose, and GRRM will kill him in the next book since he and Arya have different destinies?

Jon is clearly written as a foil to Joffrey, while Arya is a foil to Sansa in terms of their titles and personalities. Joffrey, the spoiled brat brought up as a prince and future king while Jon, good natured and kind brought up as a bastard. Arya mingling with the small folk, standing up for them against injustice (Mycah and Joffrey) and Sansa, dreaming of being queen and siding with the high born against the small folk. Jon and Arya is what we want their leaders to be and instead Joffrey and Sansa is what we get. And as such Jon/Arya's relationship contrasts with Joffrey and Sansa's.

And it holds significance in terms of Robert, Rhaegar and Lyanna. Robert Baratheon does not know about Gendry, does not care about Gendry. He's one of the numerous bastards that Robert sired. For Robert, Joffrey is his son and future king and he wants for Joffrey what he thinks he should have had with Lyanna. While he sees all Targaryens and Rhaegar's children as dragonspawn deserving of death.

And yet it's Rhaegar's son who thrives and has the unconditional love and support of Arya who mirrors Lyanna in looks and personality. While Joffrey turned out to be a sadistic bully who targets and abuses Sansa. Robert Baratheon is thwarted again.

As for Gendry, I think that Gendry is to Arya what Ygritte is to Jon Snow. They are foreshadowing parallels about the boys and girls Arya and Jon gravitate towards because of their preference for a certain type.

She punched him. “That’s vile. Would you bed your sister?”

“She’s my sister.” Gendry put a heavy hand on the old man’s shoulder, and squeezed. “Leave her be.”

The man turned, spoiling for a quarrel, but when he saw Gendry’s size he thought better of it. “Your sister, is she? What kind of brother are you? I’d never bring no sister of mine to the Peach, that I wouldn’t.” He got up from the bench and moved off muttering, in search of a new friend.

“Why did you say that?” Arya hopped to her feet. “You’re not my brother.”

There's all the comparisons Jon makes about Ygritte and Arya. Gendry is a bastard, same age as Jon and he reminds Arya of Jon while Ygritte reminds Jon of Arya. Tell me, why did GRRM write it this way?

If Jon and Arya's bond is just destined to remain sibling love, why is it the author has both characters compare their love interests to the other? What is the narrative reason behind doing that?

And Gendry is no doubt a love interest for Arya. GRRM writes it almost like a romcom. Them rolling around in the dirt, Gendry ribbing Arya for her dress, that love song sung for them. That scene in the inn when Gendry blushes and leaves. From Gendry's pov it's clear he likes her that way and is jealous when Ned Dayne and Arya are talking to each other and has a chip on his shoulder about being not good enough for a Lady.

[Note: Keep in mind that at this point Gendry is Jon's age. [Edit: @the-king-andthe-lionheart pointed out that Gendry is younger than Jon and Robb by atleast a year] So if one ships Gendrya, remember the age difference between them is the same as with Jon and Arya. And when Gendrya happens Arya is 9/10. So Gendra likes Arya that way when Arya is nearing 10. When Arya meets Jon, she will be 11 or older. Also keep in mind that Sansa/Sandor starts in the books when Sansa is 11/12, when 27 year old Sandor has clearly taken a liking to her]

The Arya and Gendry we get in ACok/ASoS is when Arya is a little kid and does not really understand what's happening with her and Gendry. She treats him as a pack member, is very protective of him (In contrast she sees Jon as her protector) and risks her life for him. Arya parts from Gendry in anger, seeing it as a betrayal that he wants to leave their little pack. By contrast, she's steadfast in her faith in Jon ('Jon will want me even if no one else does'). When we last meet Gendry, he's bitter and angry, no doubt his feelings about Arya feeding into that. And which is why I have no doubt they will meet again, if Arya travels to the Riverlands or otherwise.

A Gendry with an older, wiser Arya - the Arya of the TWoW sample chapter - is no doubt going to be different this time around because Arya is also going to feel a certain way about Gendry. There's going to be an acknowledgment of what was happening between them in ACoK/ASoS. It's going to be a fun, interesting read. If GRRM has changed his mind about Jonrya for whatever reason, then Gendrya is what will happen.

From the little snippets of interviews that GRRM has given here and there, Arya's age seems to be his biggest challenge in terms of a romantic relationship for her, whether with Gendry or Jon. I think there was one interview at a con where he mentions that Arya was still very young when asked about Gendrya. He has also stated that he's just going to ignore their ages and write as he always intended.

Whichever direction he does go, I don't think Gendry is dying. I see him as the new leader of the brotherhood without banners, with no allegiance to any king, helping the smallfolk during the war for the dawn (That should make him attractive to Arya 😉!)
