[A/N: @lorenzobane requested a 20 minute fic, and gave me the prompt “Are you really going to wear that?” to start me off, and this is what I came up with! <3 Hope you like it!]

“Are you really going to wear that?” 

Garak wrinkled his nose at the pale gray suit with boring lapels and the tie with tacky blue and black diagonal stripes that Julian had pulled from the closet. He was sure that he liked Julian better in the tux that he’d tailored for him, the one that so perfectly matched his own, rather than this random holographic creation that he was sure wouldn’t fit him well at all—not to mention the fact that holo clothes always wrinkled in strange ways, because the programs never got the physics of fabric quite right. 

And he liked Julian best as he was now: wearing next to nothing, having stripped nonchalantly out of his dirtied tux after they’d gotten each other off on the couch by the glittering lights of the city skyline.

“Yes, I am, and you’re going to wear this,” he said, finalizing his selection for Garak.

He shoved a brown blazer, brown trousers, and a deep red turtleneck into his hands.

Garak frowned. “You can’t be serious.” The turtleneck reminded him of something Tain would wear, though he was sure that wasn’t on Julian’s mind.

“You’re the one who insisted upon invading my fantasy. So, yes, that gives me the right to dress you up just how I like, I think,” Julian said with a smug grin.

“What’s the significance of this outfit to your fantasy then?” He began undressing himself from his own tux slowly, making sure Julian was watching. And Julian did watch, closely, appreciatively, hungrily, even as he put on his own new clothes.

“James Bond and one of his companions wore outfits similar to these in one of the movies. We should watch it together sometime.”

As Garak expected, the fabric didn’t fall the way he liked. It made him want to ask the computer for sewing tools so he could fit it better to his form right then and there before proceeding with the game.

“Will I be insulted by the comparison, or by the mockery it makes of my former profession?”

“Oh, absolutely,” he said with a roguish little swagger.

Garak huffed and rolled his eyes and then pulled the turtleneck over his head. He pouted when he glanced in the mirror and saw the way that the tight shirt had mussed his hair (or maybe that mussing had happened earlier, when he’d been writhing and arching wantonly on the couch, and he’d only noticed it now—either way it was Julian’s fault). 

Julian was dressed except for his tie, so, upon seeing Garak’s distress, he came over behind him to smooth back his hair and kiss him on the cheek. 

His eyes fluttered closed for a moment and his stomach swooped pleasantly as he leaned back against Julian’s chest. He would do absolutely anything to make this man happy. Even let him dress him up in horrendous clothes.

that makes so much sense actually? like A Lot of sense. i don’t think you should feel bad about that at all i mean if you are comfortable with how you perceive them then by all means! haha! what’s fun about fanfics is that people can take one character and shape them in so many different ways. canon doesn’t anyways give us depth to characters yet writers do which 🙏🏽 godsent. but then again, it can feel weird if someone makes them behave like ~someone~ else haha. i remember it used to be a hot topic in voltron actually, where people would portray lance as a weak and emotional guy only even if he’s arguably the bravest and most bamf... people didn’t like that very much. do you know what i’m talking about?
