I am once again begging people to at least backsearch the images on “fundraisers” they are reposting before sending strangers money
#i get like 2-3 per day and it's always an account with pictures having been used in like 10 gofundmes#most of them don't respond either which makes me think that they are automated accounts#siege of the pornbots 2: grifter boogaloo#also it is incredibly difficult to extract cash from personal accounts in a war torn area#I'm not terribly fond of charity organizations as too often they are just money laundering fronts#BUT!!#the political situation is very unfavorable in the middle east and withdrawing personal funds from an electronic account is even harder than#it was in ukraine due to sanctions & general refusal by banking institutions to cooperate#you are better off donating to a vetted organization as the money has the highest chance to actually reach people's hands and feed them#tumblr population is more vulnerable to gaza related grifters because#a) fake fundraisers on twitter and bluesky get exposed faster due to the format#b) peer-to-peer fundraisers are very accepted here in general
