I am sure you have been on Social Media and seen an ad pop up for Peloton which is why I decided to write my Peloton Bike review.  First and foremost let me say when my husband started eyeing this bike around January of this year I was skeptical.
The considerations
For one, he already had a bike which he wasn’t using and when I looked at the price tag of the Peloton I was shocked to say the least.  Then he informed me there is a monthly $39 subscription you want to have because without it, the bike really won’t be used at full capacity.
After thinking about it and hearing my husband talk about it I agreed to getting one.  It arrived in March 2018 and I suspect, to get me to buy in even more, my husband bought me cycle shoes that clip into the Peloton pedals.
We did not purchase everything Peloton such as the water bottles, dumbbells, foam roller, earphones or shoes but we do have a few hoodies and t-shirts because they are cute.
[Tweet “Read all about my #Peloton bike experience and whether you should get one. #pelotonride #femmefitalefitclub”]
Price
I started off balking at the price of a Peloton bike which is around $2,300.  That is not easy for many to swallow but they do have payment plans which is a plus.  That price is only for the bike.  In order to enjoy the online Live and On-Demand classes you need the monthly subscription which is an additional $39.
As you can see it can add up.  Again, if you can move past the sticker shock they do have payment plans which can ease the cost burden on some.
Classes
There are hundreds upon hundreds of classes available with the subscription such as cycling (of course), running, and yoga to name a few.  I am extremely impressed with the amount of classes offered beyond just cycling.
Class durations vary from 5 minutes to 60 minutes and you can filter on them or also by:
class type,
instructor,
music genre or
category (hard, new, most popular, etc.)
Please note, all of the classes are not children friendly.  In certain classes the instructor may use profanity or the lyrics to the songs played aren’t the clean version.
If that isn’t your cup of tea, no problem, they have classes with all genres of music from Country to 80’s Pop to R&B.  Choose what you like, there’s a lot of variety so you are bound to find something you enjoy.
Community
One thing I like a lot about Peloton is the sense of community they provide on Social Media.  They have a private Peloton Page group for Peloton users and each instructor runs their own private group.
People share their personal records with each other, post tons of photos and are very helpful and encouraging when questions are asked by newbies such as myself.
The Peloton app
The app is where you access all the classes unless you have the Peloton Tread.  It allows you to build a profile and share the classes you completed to Social Media.  You can also follow friends there.
While I like and reciprocate a follow for a follow on the Peloton app there isn’t much else there when it comes to socializing.  BTW follow me at Diatta.  You can’t message each other but you can see how many rides or activities they completed and the amount of rewards they’ve collected.
The Peloton ride
The Peloton rides are HIGH ENERGY even the ones for beginners or low impact.  If you’re riding a live or on-demand class, you can virtually high five others who are participating in the class with you.  There’s a bunch of Live and On-Demand cycle classes to choose from as far back as 6 months so pick a class and enjoy yourself.
During the rides there are a lot of features as well such as viewing your heart rate, if you wear a monitor, viewing the artist and song title playing and the leadeboard.
The leaderboard is where you can see all those who ever took the ride, where you rank and who may be riding with you at the same time you are.  You can also see how their output compares to yours which, if you are competitive, can help you push beyond your comfort zone and hit a new PR.
Instructors
I can’t say enough about the Peloton instructors.  I have not even come CLOSE to taking them all because there are a handful which play the music I like so I tend to take their classes over and over but from Robin Arzon to Ally Love to Alex Toussaint you really can’t go wrong.
Some of the instructors also teach multiple disciplines such as cycle, boot camp and running.  I like the versatility of its instructor team.  Each instructor as their own unique style but I’ve found they all keep me interested and motivated during the workout.
All positive attitudes, all smiles and very attractive people, can’t go wrong there.  Many even shout you out on Social Media.
I’ll leave the Instagram names of the ones I follow below.  All you have to do is click on the photo and follow them.

Quick question… What is your actual motivating factor? 💫 What I mean is, what is the root of your motivation? What is feeding your desire? Is it Soul or is it Ego? We say yes to so many things yet possibly never ask ourselves often, if ever, why? Why are we doing things that don’t always feel right or are what we need or want, or can afford just to keep up with the joneses. We say yes to dinners, coffees, meetings, trips, clothing, buying trendy items, moving, relationships, and of course exercise. If I took a poll asking you if they actually enjoy working out, would you say yes? If not, why do you workout? So, you lace up to run. 🏃🏼‍♀️ Why? Do you run to look better or because you actually love the feeling of running? That runners high, that accomplishment of completing a task, a claimed moment of your day that’s device-free 📲 and simply yours, a necessary mental break and “you time”, a treat for your body, a method to focus your competitive spirit, a way to spend time with friends? Is your choice to move initiated by positivity or by a feeling of negativity? When we choose to move because we hate our bodies we run the risk of disappointment in achieving a goal that is never good enough in our heads, never mind the fact that the entire time you spend getting to said point you’ve carried along a negative motivating factor with you into a positive space! How will you create love ❤️ where you bring hate? Both are green, just depends which grass gets watered. Let today be the day we change our approach to the things we do. Approach work, friendships, partnerships, and your personal relationship with yourself with love and see how fast you mind and world starts to change. When we do things that feed our soul instead of our ego the end is no longer in sight. The sacred relationship with yourself will begin to improve, fast…. be sweet to yourself, and don’t be afraid to find your truth. Dig deep and look for the reason you actually are doing the things you do. ______________________ #createthelove #truth #rksolid #motivation #tuesday #train #trainpeloton #traintuesday #transformationtuesday #transformation #abs #run #running #workout #ego #soul

I feel that I’ve become more empathetic/understanding in my years spent in NYC. The truth is… the struggle is real… I don’t know anybody who hasn’t fallen flat on their face at least once here. I’m speaking from experience: when you fall flat on your face here, you don’t just fall, you get trampled over 10 times, kicked in the ribs, and then splashed with 20 buckets of icewater. “WAKE UP” she tells you! It takes a resilient, strong human being to peel themselves back up off the ground after, and find that hustle again. It takes a champion… My city is full of champions. BLESS you NEW YORK CITY. #newyork #hustle #champions

When I started
When I first started on the Peloton bike I had trouble clipping in.  I struggled.  Hubby tried to coach me and I was trying my best but could not clip those shoes in to save my life.
He sort of had to half wear my shoe and clip them in for me and then I put them on while clipped in to the pedal.  I know I know but I’m much better now.
I also struggled clipping out.  A few times I just left the shoes clipped in and went on with my day because my legs were too tired to try and/or I was catching cramps.  OUCH!
After the first 4 rides, 4 days in a row my butt stayed sore even though my husband had a cushion on the seat.  It’s just the nature of the beast.  It gets better as I no longer get sore since I’m riding my regularly  now and I’m 24 rides in (woohoo) but my butt can get numb if I sit too long.
I remedy the problem by standing when that happens.
What kept me interested – FRIENDS
Once I found some of my friends actually owned Peloton, and we started following each other, we would schedule when we would take the same classes either live (which start early in the morning East Coast time) or on-demand (which are available all day long).
That made it very fun for me because we could see each other’s results and it felt like we were together even though we were states away.
They do have a neat feature where you can click on the person’s profile during the ride and click Live Video and actually see the other person riding LIVE.  I did that once with a friend who lives in North Carolina and it was very cool.
It was during a live class.  I thought that was very cool.
The other classes I’ve taken
Besides cycling, I’ve also taken the strength training and tread classes  which are very good.  The strength training tends to last about 10 minutes (at least those are the ones I chose) but they have longer classes.  I just never had time to do more or go longer.
  The tread classes
The tread classes are excellent and what got me back interested in Peloton to begin with.  I typically run on my own treadmill and mirror the class from my iPhone 7 to my Apple TV flat screen so I have the big screen and speaker experience.
Feels like I’m actually in the studio with them.
We do hills, sprint drills, combinations and all sorts of things which really keeps the heart rate up and the fat burning which is what I like.  They even have walking classes for those who need a recovery day or can’t handle all of the pounding from running.
I’ve tried a few of those and believe it or not, those are very challenging too.  As you can imagine they crank up the incline.
So far there hasn’t been 1 instructor or 1 class I didn’t enjoy.  I’ve gotten up and worked out completely tired and not feeling it but once I hear that peppy voice and motivating quotes and words…it’s on.  I fix my attitude and get into it.
What could be better
I honestly can say there aren’t any suggestions or recommendations I have for Peloton at this time to improve upon.  Granted I was having issue connecting my heart rate monitor but found out it was my error not theirs.
It’s a very innovative company and I look forward to some new products and services they come out with.
My rating
As if you could not tell, I give Peloton 10 out of 10 stars.  There are programs for every fitness level which I love, there are various types of programs by music genre and duration which offers up options for people who have the time or have limited time.
They’ve thought of everything.  The instructors are positive, attractive and motivating.  They also shout out people riding in the studio or at home during the live rides which I find extremely thoughtful.
I can’t thank my husband enough for having the vision and thought to purchase this awesome package of equipment and classes which has taken our at-home workout game to the next level.
I enjoy it very much, plan to ride more days on than off and highly recommend you research and consider getting one for yourself.
Perhaps we can ride virtually together in a live or on-demand class and push each other further.  To quote several of the instructors “You ain’t hustlin’ if you ain’t strugglin’”.  Let’s GO!
Are you interested in purchasing a Peloton?
Leave any questions you have that I haven’t answered in comments below.
My Peloton Bike Experience and Review I am sure you have been on Social Media and seen an ad pop up for Peloton which is why I decided to write my Peloton Bike review.

Replies to the art theft post
tanialel replied to your post “I was going to post art today...”
You must talk with the Gays on Ice's admin, she understands what is going on and also she wants to solve the problem, just take it easy and talk at the first place. Maybe you're overreacting... (I don't want to offend nobody.)
lizeth-sandwich replied to your post “I was going to post art today...”
Why are you like this? Not everyone knows who are you, I didn't know who were you until you pointed out a page that I follow. What is so wrong about sharing "FANARTS"? I mean, they want to share it because they like it, and they are your draws, yes, but it is Kubo sensei work, intellectual property... For me, and a lot more followers is sharing art knowing who the artist is to follow her. I can't believe there is people getting angry and want to report it.
lizeth-sandwich replied to your post “I was going to post art today...”
+I mean, is a page where we can laugh, where I can find people who share the same love for this beautiful art. If you want to delete that page just for that simple reason is unthinkable for me. Deleting a page because they want to share your beautiful art, how sad. I shared photos of concerts, I could take money out of them but I didn't because I like when people say thanks to me, I like to share. I did found people sharing my photos without credits.
lizeth-sandwich replied to your post “I was going to post art today...”
+but didn't make a fuss of it, I just commented on my pic that it was mine and followers saw me. Some others edit giving me credits. But anyway, I wrote all of this to make you understand that if you talk to them they might comprehend, you should not rush with your statements. We want peace not war, everything solves by talking.
mallenlisromero replied to your post “I was going to post art today...”
Well....you have your point but this is overreaction, everybody knows this blog and the content is yours but your reaction is incredible. The people who repost your work is because they love it. I don't know why that reason is bad. Are you angry for that? Well, the best solution will be to delete your blog. That way no one sees your work and doesn't feel like sharing. I don't want to seem rude, but it's very illogical and childish your rule of repost. You must ask to the

+You must ask to the people who repost "why you repost?" I don't think that they respond "I'm a fanart thief " If they do, it would be funny. That's my opinion.
mallenlisromero replied to your post “I was going to post art today...”
I understand, everyone wants the credit for their work and that's logical because they did but... Don't repost, don't share...both are “pendejadas", sorry I don't find a word in English for this expression. Your art is good, You should be happy with your fans, and proud that they share your work, obviously with the credits
sofiarvs replied to your post “I was going to post art today...”
Ellos ponen el autor!!! Así es como conocí muchos artistas, que culeros
Okay, I’m going to break my habit of only posting replies one time a day in the afternoon. Apologies in advance, and I hope you also don’t mind if I reply to these all together to avoid giving repetitive answers.
You’re right, the series, the characters themselves, and canon is the intellectual property of Kubo-sensei and the other YOI producers. However, fanart that I created is mine. I have never claimed that I own the characters, just my specific depictions of them in images I have created. There is a whole discourse on this, but that is a conversation for another time.
You’re also right, that not many people know who I am unlike the creators of canon material like Kubo-sensei. People will see an official art, and automatically know how to find the people who made it, they’re credited on all official media sites. For nobody fanartists like myself, not so much. It’s just “fanart.” Most people will not know of me or my blog just by looking at art they find floating around the internet. All the more reason that I would like that they know.
I stated specifically in my call out post that I want people to be respectful, and I apologize if the community is getting any harassment, that was not my intention. My intention is to hopefully get you and others to realize just how hurtful art theft is. “You’re overreacting. Creating a fuss. It shouldn’t matter, they share because they love it!” are statements that do not try to understand how the artist feels. You do not know how I felt creating my art, you did not experience the time and effort and struggle it took to finish and upload them, so I feel that you do not have the right to tell me how I should feel.
I am not an art machine. I’m a person, who dedicates more hours than one would expect at a full time job to nothing but producing art content that I make available for free. We are all fans here; I want to create and share drawings that hopefully make people happy, and I hope you can enjoy them in ways that do not hurt me in return.
There are so, so many ways in which art theft is hurtful. Notes/attention is certainly part of it. My art on the community in question had over 1K likes, when the original post barely had 2K. Think of how much more motivated I would feel to draw more similar content if even a fraction of those people decided to view my work on my blog, possibly even like, reblog, or comment. Instead, those views simply tell me that those people don’t care about the creator, just my content.
If you actually want to discuss, please be willing to learn. HERE’s one post that describes very well what art theft does. HERE’s another. Some quick scrolling and searching #art theft will give you plenty of results.
Different creators (not just artists) have different policies regarding reposting, because we all feel differently about how we are comfortable with our art being shared and we all have different past experiences with fandom, which shouldn’t come as a surprise because we’re all different people. Most people have their rules stated somewhere on their blog, and if you can’t find it (please search first) it doesn’t hurt to ask. Crediting is not the same as permission, as explained in the posts above. Some people allow reposts with credit, some do not. Please respect everyone.
I personally feel my own policies are pretty clear. You also cannot make the argument that you didn’t know.
Tumblr media
The fact that I am uncomfortable with my art being shared on other sites should be enough, if you respect me and wish to support my art you shouldn’t need more reasons. I shouldn’t have to explain my history of being more open at first, but being more and more hesitant to give permission after a long stream of abuses. I shouldn’t have to describe to you in detail how it has impacted me personally, how it has played into my depression, how it has made me stop drawing and leave fandoms in the past, and the amount of effort it took to come back from that and give posting online another chance. Me asking you to please stop should be enough.
On top of that, this particular post was my first nsfw work I put on Tumblr, after almost 4 years of having this blog. It took a lot of debating on whether I should do it or not. When I did decide to do it, I took a lot of precautions to ensure that I would be comfortable with my decision. It is incredibly mild, I posed them so nothing showed, I tried for the right balance (to me) of erotic but not smut, I went out of my way to try to make sure no one looked underage. I posted beneath a cut, I added tags and warnings. I was nervous, but wanted to share, thinking maybe if it went well I might get the confidence to do a little more. Instead, NOPE, that’s it for me, people reposting with none of my precautions, my discomfort is through the roof.
I’m not asking you to not share my works. I’m not asking you to not enjoy my works. There are ways that you can do that that only inconvenience you mildly, but do not hurt me. If you are on Tumblr or Twitter, you can reblog/retweet. If you want to share on other sites like facebook, please just share the link to my blog. Yes, it may not match your community aesthetic, yes, it will take one extra click for people to see the images on my blog, and yes, it may be tedious to then go back to your community to have your conversations there. But is that really too much effort to ask, in comparison to the effort it took to draw from scratch? If it’s just sharing the link, you don’t even need to ask me for permission. I promise that I’ve made my blog as easy to view as possible, and there’s easy navigation that lets you maybe find other art too that you can share in the same way. You can have your conversations on your site, and I can still protect my works on my blog and choose how to present them and get traffic. Does this not work?
I do not want to have to put my art behind a pay wall like Patreon. I like that anyone can view it. I don’t want to have to block out non-Tumblr users. I don’t want to have to create a locked community. I don’t want to stop posting my work online, and only have my work available through purchase of physical copy like many Japanese artists. I would like to keep my watermarks small enough that you can still enjoy the images.
I don’t ask for money or make you join a community. You don’t even have to like, reblog, follow, or comment on my work, though that certainly is wonderful. All I ask is that you please, please, not hurt me for posting art.
I am not asking that you delete your community or blogs, like you above have suggested I delete mine. I do not want people to be angry with you, and again I am sorry if people have been acting disrespectfully. I do however want to ask you to please try to understand artists, to please respect our wishes, to please treat us like people. So many artists have stopped drawing because of art theft, or have lost faith in the internet and feel they can no longer share. Please do not contribute to that culture. I do not want to be driven from this fandom too.
If you didn’t know how much art theft damages the artist, that’s okay. Now you do. I hope this post helps explain part of why it’s bad.
I know you love the series and want to enjoy fanworks. We creators want you to enjoy them too. We like the same things. All I ask is that you reconsider how you think of sharing art. A small change in how you share art is all it takes to no longer hurt artists, but instead encourage us. Yes, it is a bit more work, but isn’t it worth it? Please support us and treat us with respect, and we’ll draw more things you can enjoy, and together we can create a better fandom community.
Thank you.
-Kazu (YukiPri)
Edit: I hope no one does this but I’ll say it anyway: please don’t harass any of the people I posted this in reply to. I’ve said my piece, and I’d like all conversations to be respectful. I posted this publicly because I want people to know the discussion going on, but I have no quarrel with individuals. Please do not bully. Thank you.
EDIT 2: If any bilingual Spanish speakers would be willing to translate my response to the Spanish-speaking community, I would be incredibly grateful. I feel like they’re mostly getting “the artist is mad and we should just not share her work,” and that is not the point of this post, which seeks to explain WHY it is hurtful and therefore should not be done, and alternatives on HOW to do better. (EDIT 3: Someone has kindly offered to translate, we’re working on it now! Thank you!)

Passive Income Ideas For 2020 and Beyond
These passive income ideas may be the tools you need to enable your money to work for you.
Before I get into our best passive income ideas I want to make it clear that no income without an initial monetary investment is 100% passive and I’m not going to show you how to make money fast in some “get rich quick scheme” kind of way. Those never work.
We’ve personally come up with dozens of passive income ideas that have earned us over $20,000 per month while we sleep and we want to share those with you today, but just know that if you don’t have a bunch of money lying around to invest today, then don’t expect to earn money without doing any upfront work.
In this post I’m going to share with you the very best passive income ideas for 2019 and beyond. If you’re wanting to make some extra money on the side, or you want to generate an income that works for you, rather than the other way around, then you’ve come to the right place.
What is Passive Income?
Before we get started, I think it’s best that we explain exactly what is passive income.
As Wikipedia puts it:
“Passive income is income resulting from cash flow received on a regular basis, requiring minimal to no effort by the recipient to maintain it.”
While no money is 100% passive, it is possible to set up a deferred income stream wherein you put in a considerable amount of work upfront to get a system in place that can continuously pay you dividends with little or no effort on your part.
Thanks to the internet, there are more passive income ideas today than there ever have been in the past and earning money while you sleep has never been easier.
But that doesn’t mean you’re going to hit the jackpot and figure out how to make money fast on the first try. This is a numbers game. You need to try as many different passive income strategies as you can and hopefully one will stick.
Here’s How Passive Income Generally Works
Step 1: Come up with a passive income idea Step 2: Work hard on your new passive income idea for a few weeks to set up the automation Step 3: A/B test, tinker with and adjust the passive income model to try to optimize your revenue Step 4: Sit back and watch your bank account grow.
Sound too good to be true? It’s not! We have found a few great passive income ideas that earn us thousands each month. The key is to find an idea that works, and then try to repeat it as much as possible. For every 10 tries, only one idea might stick, but once one does it’s worth all of the trouble along the way.
How To Make Income Passively
To earn passive income you basically have two options.
Have an upfront monetary investment.
Put in the time and work up front, then reap the benefits later.
Some people who want to earn passive money already have a considerable amount of money in the bank and don’t mind spending some money to make some. While others simply put in the time and energy, without investing any money.
Dariece and I didn’t have a lot of extra money when we first started searching for passive income ideas, so we knew we’d have to work upfront, but that in the long run, it would be a lot better than trading dollars for hours in our traditional jobs.
Today we only work around 15 hours per week on our businesses, so our hourly wage is much higher than it ever could’ve been in Canada. That’s because we’re earning passive income and our money is working for us, rather than the other way around.
Passive Income Ideas For 2019
Okay, let’s get into the good stuff. It’s time to learn all about the best passive income ideas for 2019 and beyond. Each of these ideas can be implemented by you today and within a few months, you can start seeing some real results.
I’m going to break my passive income ideas down into 3 sections. Online, Investment & Fast-track.
Because there are so many different ways to earn passive income online, I’ve made it its own category. The Investment category includes passive income ideas which will require you to have a bit of money upfront. Lastly, the Fast-Track ideas are not only ways to put money in your bank, but ways to massively cut down on your current spending, earn some rewards and build up a passive income profile without having to invest too much time or money upfront.
Let’s get started.
Online Passive Income Ideas
In my opinion, the best way to earn passive income is online. There are just so many different routes you can go and it’s not expensive to start your own online business and begin building it. While it took us over a year to earn any money from this blog, there are ways to earn money much faster on the web.
Niche Sites
This is one of the main ways that people earn passive income online. A niche site is a website on a very specific topic that has the potential to earn money through product sales, affiliate sales or advertising.
Niche sites don’t have to be well-designed and you don’t need to write a lot of content or create a lot of pages for them to be successful. Basically, all you have to do is think of a topic that you’re passionate and knowledgable about and think of what products & services you can sell or recommend to earn money.
If you’re passionate about fly fishing for example, you could create a niche site about fly fishing and then write some posts about fly fishing on the site using SEO to help boost the site’s traffic to those blog posts.
Once the posts get a bit of traffic, you can add in some Amazon Affiliate links for different fly fishing-related products or travel booking links for Fly Fishing vacations so that you will earn a commission when your readers make purchases through your links.
Setting up affiliate links only takes a few minutes and once they’re added to your site, they will automatically track sales from your website and pay you via bank wire transfer or Paypal.
You can also use Facebook Ads to drive some traffic to the top-converting posts once they start earning an income.
The key to earning money with niche sites is to create posts that people are likely searching in Google right before they’re about to buy something. Instead of writing “Fly Fishing in Nova Scotia”, you might want to instead write “Best Fly Rods in 2019” or “Fly Fishing Holidays in Nova Scotia”. The latter two are potentially more lucrative blog posts because if people come to your site after searching those types of terms in Google, they’re more likely to purchase a fly rod or book a vacation.
In the best fly rods example, fly rods are worth around $500 on Amazon. Most amazon affiliate categories are around 4%, so if you sell one rod from the post, your commission may be around $20. That doesn’t sound like much, but if you can sell 10 per month that would be $200 from that single post.
If you have 10 posts that rank well on your niche site, you might be able to bump that up to $2,000 / month. Then you build multiple niche sites and, well, you get the point.
Amazon isn’t the only way to earn money from niche sites either.
Perhaps you build a travel-related niche site. Then you can also have affiliate links for travel insurance, hotel bookings, tour companies etc. If it’s a finance-related site you may have affiliates for credit cards. If it’s a parenting site you may have affiliates for toys, strollers, baby food etc.
Or maybe you have your own product to sell. That would mean instead of taking 4% from an Amazon commission you could take 100% of the sale, minus any overhead.
Niche sites are a great way to earn money there are many people earning tens of thousands of dollars per month from a variety of niche sites on a variety of topics.
Selling eCourses
This is a prime example of differed income rather than passive income. It’s going to take you a long time to actually build an e-course that people will want to buy. It took me months to complete my Complete SEO Course and I’m still updating it and adding to it. But once you’ve created your own course and it’s live, you can start earning money from it while you sleep.
First, you’ll need to think of a topic that you’re an expert on. This can be anything from applying makeup to taking photos. Once you have that, you can sign up for Teachable. Teachable is an online platform that makes it super easy to create and sell your own online courses. They give you every tool you need to outline, record, build, market and sell your online course.
Teachable also has their own marketplace with hundreds of thousands of potential buyers, so if you create a useful course that gets great reviews, you’ll likely sell a lot to their audience as well as your own.
Depending on how you build your course, it may not be 100% passive. In my courses, for example, I also set up a Facebook support group which means I’m in there every day answering questions and helping out new bloggers. It’s your decision on how you want to build your course and how passive you want the income to be.
I find that by having a little bit of a more hands-on approach, you can help people more and thus you’ll be able to sell more products and get better reviews.
Sell ebooks Online
Creating an ebook will likely take you a lot less time than creating a course, so it’s a great passive income idea for those who don’t have a lot of extra time to spend upfront. First, you can write out your ebook using a free word processor on your Mac or PC, then you can use free tools like Canva to easily design a professional-looking book in PDF format.
Once you have the book, you can either sell if yourself on social media pages or on your own website, or you can upload it to Amazon and sell it there.
I’ve personally created a few ebooks online, and while I do make a couple of hundred dollars per month from them, I’ve mostly offered mine for free on our website to introduce people to more useful products like our premium courses. However, ebooks can be a great source of income. I know of some people who are earning over $2,000 per month selling ebooks through Amazon and through their own channels.
Sell Stock Photos
If you’re a great photographer, you likely already have a massive library of valuable photos sitting on a hard drive somewhere. While I’m not going to lie to you and say that it’s easy to earn money selling photography, it can be a way to earn a small amount of extra income on the side which doesn’t require a lot of time.
You can sign-up for sites like Deposit Photos and upload all of your good photos to their platform. Then simply wait and see if you’re able to sell any.
Full Disclaimer: While we have sold some images in the past, this has never been a decent source of income for us. Selling stock photos is best used as an extra passive income idea rather than attempting to make it your main source of income.
Affiliate Marketing (My Favourite Online Passive Income Idea)
Affiliate marketing is my favourite passive income strategy. We currently earn around 65% of our total income through affiliate marketing and while there is a considerable amount of work upfront – writing long, useful posts and building up the SEO – once a blog post ranks in Google it can earn a lot of money.
Basically, you choose companies that resonate with your business and every time someone purchases that product through your link, you receive a commission from that company.
This might be a particular clothing brand, hotel booking engine, remote work platform, tour company, etc.
We have some posts on this blog that earn 6-figures per year by themselves. I’m not saying that every post earns money, but if we write with SEO in mind maybe one in 10 will rank in Google and earn some money, while 1 in 100 might earn a significant amount of passive income each month.
The key to affiliate marketing is the same as the key for niche sites. Basically, you need to write posts that have a lot of searches in Google and are near the end of the buyer’s journey. You need to appear on the first page of Google for terms that people search for right before they are about to make a purchase.
We cover how to write great SEO content that can rank in Google in our Free SEO Training Video. Click Here to sign up to watch it now.
Once you have the SEO techniques figured out, you can continuously write posts that have the potential to rank in Google. If you have one post that earns $500 per month, that’s great. But once you have 10 posts that earn that much, you’re doing very well for yourself.
Affiliate marketing is one of my favourite passive income ideas because it has worked so well for us.

Start a Blog
Starting a blog and building it to the point that it can earn money takes a long time. In my experience, it takes at least six months to a year to really earn any reliable income sources through blogging. But the best part of building up a successful website is that you can diversify your income streams and earn money from many different sources.
Here are some of the main passive income ideas for blogs:
On-Page Advertising: Once a blog has enough traffic (20,000+ hits per month) you can easily turn on in-content ads and earn $900+/ month from these. It’s possible to grow your traffic to this level within six months to a year if you use proper SEO. Click Here to learn how to earn good money from on-page advertising.
Direct Advertising: This is when companies contact you and pay you to link to their website from your blog. Typically these partnerships don’t take much time/effort on your part and pay between $200 – $1,200 each.
Product Sales: This is when you create a product like an ebook or an ecourse and sell it on your blog. The amount you make from product sales will depend on how much traffic you have, how good your products are and how much you sell them for. Many bloggers earn $10,000+ per month from product sales alone.
Affiliate Marketing: We’ve already talked about this as one of the best online passive income ideas for 2019. If you have a successful blog, you can recommend products and services to your readers and get a commission any time they purchase through your links. Click Here to learn more about affiliate marketing.
Keynote Speaking: When you’re an expert on a topic, you may get invited to speak at different events around the world. Keynote speaking jobs will include all-inclusive travel and pay upwards of $20,000 for a 30 minute+ speech.
Selling Memberships: If you have an online course or learning platform that is updated on a regular basis, you can sell memberships instead of one-time access. Membership sites can be very lucrative because even if you only charge $10 / month to your members, once you have 1,000 members that’s $10,000 per month in revenue.
Sponsorship: When you grow a large enough audience on your blog, you may be considered an “influencer”. When you reach this level, you may have companies contacting you and offering to pay you in exchange for you using their product or service and sharing your experience with your audience. Some sponsorships pay very well with bloggers earning 6-figures per year or more from a single contract.

Dropshipping
Basically drop shipping is a very low-risk way to start up a business selling products online. Traditionally if you wanted to do this, you would have to create a product, market it, store it in a warehouse and ship it out yourself, while having to deal with refunds, returns, etc.
Dropshipping basically hands most of the responsibility off to someone else. This entity is known as a manufacturer, dropshipping supplier or warehouse outlet.
Your job as a drop shipper would be as the middle man. You’d need to find a wholesale manufacturer who would manufacture, store and ship your product, and you would then create an online store (website/blog) or an Amazon Storefront in order to promote and market the product.
Check out this great list of dropshipping suppliers that can help you get started.
To get more sales, many successful drop shippers use Facebook Ads to show their product or service to a larger audience. In this case, you’d need an upfront monetary investment, but you could wait until you were selling enough of your product and have an income from the business before using that revenue to pay for ads.
Ads can be wildly effective and some drop shippers are earning hundreds of thousands of dollars per year in passive income from their drop-shipping businesses.
Investment-Based Passive Income Ideas
These are passive income ideas that will require an upfront monetary investment on your part. You’ll need to pay to play, but the tradeoff is that unlike most ideas in this post, if you have money to invest upfront, you won’t have to spend any real time getting your passive income idea off the ground.
Here are some of the best investment-based passive income ideas for 2019.
Dividend Stocks
A dividend stock is a mini-investment into a company. Essentially, for every share of a dividend stock that you own, you are paid a portion of the company’s earnings.
To get started, you’ll want to open an account with a good online brokerage company. There is plenty of information online about how to choose the best online brokerage firm, but you’ll basically have to do your own research and go with a company that you trust.
What you’ll want to do is reinvest the money that you earn from your successful dividend stocks. That is how you will be able to compound your earnings over time and walk away with a lot more money.
There are even some online platforms like M1 Finance that will allow you to start a portfolio for free and then automatically re-invest your dividend income. A lot of people go for these types of online platforms because they make the process of earning an income through dividend stocks even more passive.
Rental Properties on Airbnb
The best way to earn money passively through your rental properties is by renting them out short-term on Airbnb. Of course, if you had to check-in and out every guest that showed up, this wouldn’t be a very passive income model, but these days there are Airbnb management companies all around the world that can manage the properties for you.
We know people who have started with one Airbnb property and expanded to five or six within a couple of years. Not only will you be earning equity on the property, but you’ll also get tax breaks and be bringing in higher rental income by renting short-term rather than traditional long-term rentals.

Automated Stock Market Investments
This passive income idea almost sounds too good to be true, but bear with me. Automated Stock Market Investments is when you use what is known as a “robo-advisor” to automatically put your money into a variety of stocks.
While I haven’t done this myself, there is a popular robo-advisor tool called Betterment which you can quickly set up to automatically invest your money into stocks without much work on your part.
They charge a very transparent 0.25% of your total balance each year and they don’t take long to set up. You’ll have to answer a few questions and invest your money to get started, but they claim to offer a full satisfaction guarantee and a lot of perks.
Real Estate Turn-Over Investments
Before you scroll through this passive income idea because you think that you’ll have to buy a house, renovate it and flip it yourself, consider this. There are websites online like PeerStreet that essentially allow you to help professional real estate flippers with their acquisition and renovation costs and in return, you can earn 7-9% on your investment.
The benefit of PeerStreet is that their loans are backed by the property itself, so if the borrower stops paying, you have some recourse (ie: foreclosure) to recoup some of your investment. As they say on their website:
“In the event of a default, PeerStreet will handle the workout process and work on behalf of investors to protect their investment and maximize proceeds.”
The only issue that many people have with PeerStreet is that they require a minimum of $1,000 investment upfront and are only available for accredited investors.
A lot of people are earning a lot of money through flipping real estate investments like these, without having to actually do any work renovating and flipping the house themselves.
Fast-Track Passive Income Ideas
Here are some passive income ideas that don’t necessarily require any upfront time or money investment. You can get started with these today and perhaps help build up your bank account without much work.
Cashback Rewards Credit Cards
This has long been a great way to not only be a travel hacker, but to hack your life and earn cash-back on all the money you spend. Many credit cards offer massive sign-up bonuses and, depending on where you live, becoming credit card savvy can be extremely lucrative.
The key to successfully earning a lot of money through rewards cards is to apply for the right ones, meet the minimum spending requirements and never be late on payments to avoid interest charges.
If you can manage all of your cards properly, you can earn thousands of dollars per year in rewards and discounts, plus enjoy the perks offered by different cards.
If you’re American, some great cards include the Barclay’s Frontier which offers a 40,000 point sign-up offer (which can pay for 2 short-haul round trip tickets within the US) and the Chase Saffire Preferred card that offers a 50,000 point sign-up bonus. On top of the sign-up bonuses, you’ll also get points on your day-to-day spending.
An example would be Citi Premiere credit card which offers 3x points for money spent on travel, 2x points on dining, and 1x point on everything else (as well as a 60,000 point bonus).
Look at the 3x category – there are a lot of rewards!
3x points means you’ll get 3 points for every dollar you spend in that category. If you buy a $1,000 flight, you’ll receive 3,000 points. If you spend $5,000 over the year in gas expenses, you’ll receive 15,000 points.
In the case of Citi “Thank-you Points”, they’re worth approximately 0.5 cents per point, so your sign-up bonus is worth around $300 and you’re getting around 1.5% back on your travel expenses. Not bad.
Basically, if you’re not currently earning rewards points from your credit cards, then you’re missing out.
And don’t worry, travel hacking isn’t just for Americans! As Canadians, Dariece and I use the TD First Class Infinite card which after all said and done offers us around 1.5% cashback on all of our purchases when the points are used on travel through the Expedia for TD platform. Pretty good.
In Australia, the Citi Rewards Platinum Credit Card offers 120,000 bonus points for signing up and meeting the minimum spending as well as 1 point per dollar spent on the card. If you’re from the UK you can apply for the American Express Rewards Low Rate Credit Card and enjoy 2,500 bonus points for signing up as well as 1 point per £1 spent on the card.
Turn Your Car Into a Billboard
Assuming you already have a car, this is a pretty easy way to add a bit of passive income to your portfolio. Depending on where you live and how long your commute is to work and back each day, you can earn around $100 / month by plastering your car with ads.
Websites like Carvertise and StickerRide can match you up with brands that are willing to pay you to drive back and forth from your job each day.
The more targeted customers that could potentially see your commercialized car, the more money you stand to earn. If you’re worried about what happens when you no longer want to drive a billboard on wheels, these companies will pay to remove the stickers for you.
Typically these opportunities are only for Americans in select cities, but if you’re from those places and have the right commute, this could be one of the easiest passive income ideas you’ll likely find.
Rent Out a Room in Your House
I know we already talked about investing in property and then earning money by renting it out on Airbnb, but that takes a significant upfront monetary investment. But what if you already have a house with an empty bedroom? In this case, you could be able to earn around $50 / night by simply renting out one of the rooms in your house.
We’ve stayed in private rooms on Airbnb and they’re a great way to save money on accommodation costs, and meet the locals. Plus, it’s a great way for homeowners to earn some extra passive income towards bills.
Homes that are close to airports, hospitals or in popular neighbourhoods in large cities typically have a very good fill-rate. Make sure you encourage all of your guests to leave a review on Airbnb when they check out. That way you can become a “Superhost” on the platform and Airbnb will send you even more business.
Get in The Passive Income Mindset
A lot of people treat passive income as some kind of mythical dream that would never really work for them. In reality, passive income is a real thing and it can earn you real money.
The key is to try and implement as many different passive income ideas as you can in order to earn money this way. Whether you put a lot of time and effort in upfront or you invest a significant amount of money to get started, passive income is the best way to earn a living.
When we first started making money online, we had no idea just how many ways there are to earn a passive income. Thanks to the internet, a plethora of apps and a lot of websites about how to do this sort of thing, it’s never been easier to make an income outside of your normal salary.
If you have the right mindset, you can shift the dollar-for-money paradigm and see that the work no longer has to be a place and you don’t have to clock in and out in order to earn a full-time salary.
I hope this article helped you find some new passive income ideas that you can implement in your life today. If I missed any ideas, please comment below. If they’re reputable and legitimate, we might add them to the post.

First Bite
Alright, I’m posting something that isn’t Overwatch again (twice in a row!) so my apologies. I promise I’m still working on the Whumptober prompts and “Of Freelancers and Outlaws,” it’s just been slow going between work and putting together my first tabletop campaign in years. I haven’t DMed in years, and I’m super nervous!
Naturally, when I finally got a day off to write, instead of working on anything I was supposed to work on, I became possessed by an idea for a new OC and cranked out 2700 words in one day. It felt like a shame not to share it, so I’m posting it here. Unbeta’d, obviously, it’s mostly word vomit about my new boy.
Meet Angelo Salvador, a college professor who teaches mostly calculus and physics. He’s of Brazilian descent, very logical, addicted to social media, and lives a very healthy lifestyle. He’s a mathematician at heart, and absolutely, positively does not believe in magic or the supernatural. He’s also definitely a werewolf.
2700 word drabble under the cut! Warnings for violence, blood/gore, and...uh...eating people.
After two weeks of warfare, Angelo’s nemesis had finally gotten the better of him. His opponent was clever, wise enough to avoid the multiple traps Angelo laid for him, despite using the most recommended baits. Regardless of what the internet said, apparently his uninvited guest had no interest in peanut butter, cheese, or fruit. Hell, he’d even lined a trap with chocolate, but still he failed to catch the mouse that was terrorizing his pantry.
Instead, Angelo stood staring at the ruined cord of his phone charger, chewed cleanly in half. He took a picture with his dying phone, and used the last of his battery to upload it to at least three social media websites.
“Mouse is smarter than me, winning our war. Looking for live trap advice, peanut butter isn’t working! #FML #MouseHunt #CalcProf #SeattleWildlife  #LiveTraps #DeadPhone”
Angelo tossed his phone onto the bedside table and got dressed. Getting a new cord couldn’t wait until morning. He had classes to teach and needed his phone functional for the next day. Breaking his routine was unusual for him, but it was midterms and he’d been up late grading tests and answering emails from a long list of students pleading for extra credit or for him to “make an exception, just for me,” and he hadn’t noticed his broken phone charger until just before midnight. Anything on campus would be closed by now, but there was a 24 hour store within biking distance of his little house, so he threw on his reflective jacket, pulled his bike out of the garage, and took to the streets.
Angelo didn’t typically like to ride his bike at night; most car drivers didn’t pay attention enough to see him, even with his headlight and reflective gear. Even so, the trip to the store was unremarkable, new phone charger easily obtained, and Angelo was soon on his way back.
Flashing lights blocked his path ahead on the return trip, and an ambulance blew past him. Angelo slowed and pulled to a stop. There were at least three police cars, the ambulance, and a fire engine, from what he could tell in the dark. Maybe more. He would likely be fine to ride past them, but it would probably be easier to cut through the park and bypass the accident altogether. It would add a few more minutes to his travel time, but it was a nice night, the temperature comfortable, and the moon was bright enough to see by.
Angelo turned right and cut through the park. The park had a few wide fields, a playground, and some old paved jogging trails that wove through a patch of tall trees. He turned onto the paved path to follow the jogging trail to the other side of the park, where he could get back on a street and head home. He slowed down to pick his way through the worn path, the trees blotting out a good amount of the moonlight above.
A howl sliced through the night, cold and clear, and sharp enough that Angelo actually pulled to a stop and froze, listening. In the distance, he could still hear the sirens and the occasional drone of a passing car. The leaves rustled as a breeze passed overhead. His heart pounded in his ears and his fingers tightened on the rubber handle grips before logic caught up with him.
What was he doing? Freezing like a deer in the woods, trying to determine which direction a predator was coming from? He was in the middle of Seattle, for hell’s sake, surrounded by city, houses, and college campus close by. He relaxed and shook himself. Idiot. Getting worked up just because someone’s dog is–
Another howl split the night, closer, and logic went out the window as some instinct in Angelo’s hind-brain reared back and screamed run.
Angelo kicked his bike back into gear and went tearing down the path. Was that the sound of twigs breaking behind him? Were those leaves rustling from a breeze or crunching underfoot? What did–
His bike hit a pothole in the poorly maintained road and sent him flying over the handlebars. Angelo hit the pavement hard and rolled to a stop. Stars flashed before his eyes, brighter than either the moon or the ambulance lights, and his thoughts rotated sluggishly around in his head. He rolled onto his back, but couldn’t seem to accomplish more than that. He stared at the dark tree branches sprawled above him, blinking the stars from his eyes.
As soon as he felt he was able, he slowly sat up and groaned.
“Dammit…”
His head throbbed and he could feel his nose bleeding. He wiped his face with the back of his sleeve and grimaced at the gritty feeling of dirt and blood sliding across his skin. Disgusting. He got to his feet and inspected the bike. The pothole had completely bent the front rim out of shape and deflated the tire. Great. Looks like he was walking home, all because he’d let his imagination get the better of him.
Angelo sighed and righted the bicycle. He ran numbers through his head as he started the long walk home, trying to plan out how much a new wheel was going to cost him, assuming it was only the front wheel that was damaged, when he’d find the time to make repairs, when he needed to wake up to catch the bus tomorrow, how long it would take him to walk home…not to mention he still needed to trap this damn mouse.
A rustling in the undergrowth was his only warning before a massive black shape barreled toward him. It knocked him on his back and Angelo caught a flash of sharp, white teeth lunging for his throat. He threw an arm up to protect himself and huge jaws snapped closed around his arm. Angelo screamed.
Yellow eyes gleamed in the moonlight over a canine snout, boring into him as deeply as the teeth in his arm, and Angelo froze, pinned by fear as much as by the beast. He couldn’t move, couldn’t breathe, and for a split second he wondered if even his heart had stopped. A growl rose in the beast’s throat, then it shook its head.
Pain washed over him as teeth tore through the flesh of his arm and his shoulder dislocated with a pop. Another scream ripped from his throat and panic overtook paralysis. He thrashed beneath the beast, kicking and punching wildly, though every jerk of his trapped arm brought another scream. A lucky kick managed to hit the beast right in the gut, but the jaws only closed tighter around him. Teeth ground against bone and agony coursed through him so hard that his vision went dark.
As abruptly as the attack started, it was over. The creature let him go and Angelo’s arm dropped onto his own face with a wet smack. The creature crashed through the undergrowth and vanished.
Angelo didn’t know how long he lay sprawled on the ground, staring at the moonlight flickering through the trees. He finally worked up the energy to roll to one side and let out a wail as agony rolled through him. He curled up with a whimper and entertained the temptation of lying there until someone found him. Dimly, he realized that might not be the best idea, and hoped he wasn’t bleeding out. With a monumental effort, Angelo rose to his feet, letting his arm hang limply beside him. He wasn’t sure if he’d even be able to move it if he tried, and it hurt too much for him to want to find out.
Okay. He was okay. He was alive, he could walk, and that…that dog or whatever that thing was, it was gone. He just need to call for help and–
His phone was dead on his bedside table. Angelo couldn’t help himself and broke into tears.
He didn’t linger long, however. His arm was in agony and he genuinely couldn’t tell how badly he was bleeding. He had the presence of mind to scoop up the goddamn phone cord from where it had fallen, but left his bike behind. Hopefully it would still be there when he got back from the E.R.
A howl carried over the wind.
Angelo shivered and turned back the way he came, heading for where the traffic accident had been, and hoped the police would still be there.
 ******
The damage to Angelo’s arm had been extensive, a dislocated shoulder, severe lacerations, and significant muscle and bone damage. The doctor talked a lot about physical therapy, surgery, and warned about the possibility of permanent damage and loss of mobility. He’d gotten post-exposure rabies vaccinations, and animal control never found the dog that attacked him.
And yet…
Life had gone on. He needed to purchase a new bike in the end, as his damaged one was stolen overnight. His arm had completely healed within a month, to the astonishment of his doctors. With no other explanation, they chalked it up to his incredibly healthy lifestyle          .
He went back to his normal routine: go to the gym, teach class, office hours, his usual rotation of recreational activities, sleep. He gained some followers on social media due to his recounting of the dog attack and his recovery. Even the mouse that had been plaguing his home seemed to have up and left of its own accord.
A few things changed. He seemed to have an occasional excess of energy, and began putting in more time at the gym. Though he tended to eat meat sparingly, he began craving red meat more often. His nutritionist suggested his body may have been after the extra protein after his injury, so he started taking iron supplements and added protein shakes into his diet.
The craving for steak continued, but at least he felt better about it.
He began shaving more. His five o’clock shadow became persistent, and he seriously considered growing a beard just so he wouldn’t have to deal with it.
Nearly a month from the attack, he went to bed like usual. He awoke on the other side of his house, naked, with no memory of how he’d gotten there and feeling absolutely exhausted, as if he hadn’t gone to sleep at all. The clothes he’d gone to bed in were shredded, but nothing else appeared out of the ordinary. He made a doctor’s appointment to discuss sleepwalking, asked his social media followers about their experiences with sleepwalking, and thought nothing more of it. Exhausted all day, he fell asleep early that night.
He awoke outside. He was once again naked, and two blocks from his home. He hastily made his way back home without incident, and was grateful that there were so few people out and about at six in the morning.
Once in the safety of his home, he was alarmed to find that his front window had been completely shattered and the entirety of his house had been turned upside down, as if it had been ransacked, possibly by some lunatic with a knife, if the slashes in his furniture were anything to go by. He dressed after finding his previous night’s clothes shredded once again, and was grateful it was Saturday, so he didn’t need to call in sick to his own classes. Despite his persisting exhaustion, he set about calling the police to report a burglary, and called his doctor again to try and find an earlier appointment slot. The office was, of course, closed on weekends.
The police investigated his house and left with their report and Angelo spent the rest of the day cleaning house, though he wanted to do nothing more than take a nap. It was perhaps fortunate that he spent the rest of the day alone, as he was irritable and sour as he cleaned, and only grew angrier when he found that literally nothing was missing. Someone had ransacked his house and didn’t even have the decency to steal something.
Around eleven, he finally considered calling it a night and going to bed. He put out the bags of trash that used to be his possessions before they’d been shredded beyond repair and headed for bed. Halfway down the hall, his skin began to itch. He had to physically stop in the hall to scratch as the itching became unbearable. It was everywhere, down his arms, his back, his legs, his face. He tore his shirt off and scratched and scratched and scratched. He dropped to his knees.
What in the hell? Had the burglar left something behind? Some kind of irritant or chemical or something equally insane?
The maddening itching got worse, to the point where it began to burn. His fingernails dug at his skin, until it became apparent that he wasn’t scratching skin anymore, but hair. The hair on his arms and hair was becoming thick and coarse, literally growing right before his eyes. More hair sprouted from his skin, covering him like a layer of fur.
Angelo stared at his hands in disbelief, then let out a roar of pain and buckled over as something inside him stretched. It was like his bones were moving on their own, shifting and grinding inside him, and he could feel every inch. His breath came in short, harsh gasps and his teeth and jaw ached. His face twisted impossibly as the bones of his face realigned themselves, pushing forward until he could see his own mouth stretching in front of him. Another wave of fur rolled over him, covering his face. His tongue lolled forward, rolling and hanging out of his mouth as he panted.
The bones of his fingers adjusted with sharp, painful pops, growing shorter and thicker, and his nails turned black and grew into a set of sharp claws. A shiver ran down his spine and he let out an animalistic howl of pain as new vertebrae cracked into existence, sprouting a tail through his jogging pants. He felt himself growing heavier, thicker, his muscles enlarging around his rapidly growing and shifting skeleton.
Between one heaving breath and the next, something changed inside him. He could smell everything. The scents of the police officers, the cherry tree outside, the stray tomcat that had passed by the broken window last night. The scent of himself everywhere.
The noticeable lack of a burglar’s scent.
Oh god. It was all him. Angelo had done this himself.
His hearing sharpened. He could hear the couple across the street having an argument, bickering over whose fault it was that the car needed repairs.
Excellent. Distracted prey is easier to hunt.
The thought rose to his mind unbidden, followed by the mental image of stalking toward their home, breaking through their front door, tearing their throats out and gorging upon their meat.
Angelo let out a scream that sounded very much like a howl.
No! No, he didn’t want to hurt anyone! He hadn’t even wanted to kill a mouse! He didn’t want to…to…
Stalk. Hunt. Kill. Eat.
The desire was overwhelming, endorphins flooding his brain with even the promise of a good hunt. Angelo rose to all fours. He’d already broken the front window last night, he didn’t need to suffer through the confusion of finding his way out a second time. He kicked off the shredded remains of his pants and shook himself off. He had the scent. It was time to hunt.
Angelo threw his head back and howled.
 ******
Angelo didn’t awaken until the sun was up, shining on his face and piercing his eyes. He ached all over and was still exhausted, but felt warm and pleasantly full. He was on something hard and smooth, tile or linoleum, though it was slick with sticky liquid. He didn’t move. He didn’t want to move, afraid of what he would find if he opened his eyes.
This time, he remembered.
The copper scent of blood was everywhere and he curled in on himself, wrapping his arms around his head. His hands and arms were wet and sticky, and he could taste blood on his teeth.
He wept. He didn’t want to see the proof, didn’t want to know. He didn’t want to see what he’d done.
But he remembered.

How to Get Your Customers to Recommend Your Brand to Others
Marketing your business is expensive. Coming up with customer acquisition strategies that won’t break the bank can be a challenge.
Acquiring a new customer can cost you six or seven times more money than retaining your current customers.
But you can get new customers without having to spend much money.
Using your existing customers to help bring in new business is one of my favorite ways to do this. It may sound complex, but it’s much easier than you might think.
It’s all about getting creative. Coming up with an acquisition strategy that also promotes retention is a win-win scenario for everyone involved.
Don’t underestimate the power of a recommendation. Research shows 83% of consumers say they trust recommendations from family and friends. When your brand gets recommended to someone, they are likely to give it a shot.
But the key here is getting that initial recommendation. How do you do it?
If you’ve never tried to incorporate this strategy into your marketing plan before, don’t worry. I’ll give you some insight into how you can proceed.
Here’s what you need to know.
Provide friendly customer service
Before you launch any new marketing campaigns, analyze your company’s culture. Start with your customer service.
Optimizing the customer experience can help you to not only boost revenue but also acquire new customers. Check out these statistics about friendly customer service:
Recent studies showed that customers who had a friendly interaction with a company were likely to recommend that company to others. The majority of people who experienced unfriendly service would not recommend a brand.
Being friendly costs you nothing.
Just make sure your managers and customer service representatives are all on the same page. If you’re dealing with customers face-to-face, you need to train your staff to smile.
Be genuine. Ask the customer how their day is going. Try to have real connections with your customers.
Even if you’re talking to people over the phone or online, the tone of your voice will convey your attitude.
Don’t sigh or take deep breaths of frustration. Don’t be monotone or standoffish. Speak in a friendly voice that’s welcoming and energetic.
Even smiling when you’re talking on the phone can help make the tone of your voice sound more positive.
Employing this strategy is a no-brainer. This isn’t something you can measure, but when your existing customers have a positive experience with your company, they’ll be happy to tell their friends and family about it.
Before you know it, new customers will be walking through your doors. If you treat them the same way, they’ll recommend your brand to others as well.
Respond to customer inquiries as fast as possible
Let’s continue talking about customer service. In addition to providing friendly care during daily interactions, your support team needs to go the extra mile when customers have questions or problems.
It’s easy to get frustrated with a disgruntled customer. Even if you think they are in the wrong, treat them with respect, and make them feel as though they are right.
Don’t make customers wait to hear back from a customer service representative. This is something you need to keep in mind no matter where you’re conducting business.
If you have a brick-and-mortar location, don’t make your customers wait to speak to a manager. Get someone right away. When taking calls over the phone, don’t put your customers on hold for too long.
Even if you’re taking customer inquiries online through your website’s platform or via email, put emphasis on responding right away.
Take a look at these numbers, and just let that sink in for a moment.
Customers who received a fast but ineffective response were more likely to recommend a brand than customers who received a slow but adequate solution.
Just because you solve a customer’s problem doesn’t mean they’ll recommend you to other people if you took too long to do it.
But if you provide a speedy response, customers are still willing to recommend your brand even if you didn’t provide a solution.
Come up with a referral program
Some people will be willing to recommend your brand only if they can get something in return. Can you blame them?
Customers love getting discounts and free stuff. Come up with a customer referral program that rewards your current customers for spreading the word about your company.
One of the best customer referral programs I’ve seen is from Uber.
Here’s how their program works. The customer who sends the referral gets a credit, and the new customer also gets a credit.
The rewards vary depending on the city and time, but here’s an example of a $20 program:
It’s a major success.
With this example, the customer acquisition cost is $40. Uber is paying $20 to two customers.
Customers who use the service at least once per week spend about $95 per month on this platform. Uber keeps 25% of that.
So in less than two months, the customer acquisition cost already pays for itself. It’s a great strategy and increases the lifetime value of a customer.
Once a new customer joins, they are likely to refer their own friends as well to try to keep getting discounts. It may seem like a lot of money, but as you can see from the numbers I just went through, it’s well worth it.
If your referral program is worth only a few bucks, it won’t get your customers excited. How much effort do you expect them to put into a referral if you’re just giving them something like $5 or maybe 10% in return?
Same goes for the new customer who is receiving the recommendation. But offering a $20 credit could be enough to get a free product or, in the case with Uber, a free ride.
Find a way to apply this concept to your company. Based on Uber’s rapid growth since inception, I’m sure it will work for you as well.
Celebrate milestones with your customers
It’s important to get to know your customers. Don’t treat them as nameless and faceless people.
Talk to them. Find out why they are spending money at your store. For example, let’s say you own a restaurant. When a customer comes in and places a huge order, ask them if it’s for a special occasion.
Go the extra mile to make them feel like you really care. Maybe they’re celebrating a birthday party or an anniversary. If the order is big enough, you could try to offer a free delivery or give them a discount.
Half of the customers who talk about brands on social media when posting about a life milestone do so to recommend the brand to others.
I realize it’s not always easy to find out information about milestones in a customer’s life, especially if you’re operating an ecommerce business.
But whenever it’s applicable, try your best to get as much information about the purchase as possible. This also relates back to the discussion about friendly customer service.
The importance and relevance of this marketing aspect will depend on the industry, of course. But you can still come up with clever ways to incorporate this marketing strategy into your business.
For example, let’s say you sell clothing. A group of women comes into your store and starts trying on expensive dresses. Train your sales team to ask,
“Is this for a special occasion?”
If you discover one of the women just got engaged, do whatever you can to make them feel special without compromising your profit margins.
Based on the data I just showed you, this will increase the chances of those customers recommending your brand to people on social media.
Even if they don’t officially recommend your business, look at some of the other top responses on that list:
thank the brand
show brand preference
receive discounts.
All these posts are still positive exposure for your company. As a result, their friends will be more likely to try your products or services.
Here are some of the most popular life milestones that cause customers to recommend a brand on social media:
Be aware of this if you’re in an industry where these types of events are relevant to your business.
Promote user-generated content (UGC)
Now, it’s time to think outside the box and get creative.
Running promotions that encourage user-generated content is a great way to grow your business.
Why?
It won’t cost you much money to achieve this. UGC won’t take too much time on your end, and it requires very minimal effort.
But the results can be very rewarding.
With UGC, your customers won’t officially be recommending your business. However, the brand exposure you’ll be generating is just as effective as a recommendation.
Take a look at how UGC influences online shoppers:
There are lots of ways you can approach this. One of my favorites is running contests on social media.
Use Instagram or Facebook as a marketing channel to run one of these contests. Have your customers upload photos and videos that promote your products or services.
At a specified deadline, pick the post with the most likes or comments, and award them a prize. If you make the prize worth it, you’ll get a high participation rate from your followers.
As a result, your brand will be exposed to people who follow the customers participating in the contest. This indirectly recommends your brand to a new audience.
You can even dedicate a section of your website to UGC.
Let customers upload videos or share stories about their experiences with your company. It will help you get new customers in the door without crippling your marketing budget.
Encourage customers to review your business
You can promote your company in many different ways, including writing about your product or service. But nothing is viewed as trustworthy as an online review from a customer.
Obviously, you’ll tell people your business is great. Consumers know you won’t willingly reveal bad information about your brand.
Information on your website may not be enough for you to acquire a new customer. But customer reviews increase the chances of a new customer buying from your brand:
Make sure your company has a profile set up on as many review websites as possible. In addition to allowing reviews directly on your website, let your customers review your business on platforms like:
Yelp
Facebook
Google Reviews
Trip Advisor
The more platforms you’re on, the greater your exposure will be. Some customers trust reviews on some websites more than others.
Research shows the two most trusted review websites are Google and the Better Business Bureau. Just having an account on Yelp isn’t enough.
Now you need to find ways to get your existing customers to write reviews.
Ask them directly. After they complete a transaction, nicely ask them to write a review online.
Or you could go another route and give them an incentive. You can offer a discount or some kind of promotion if they write a review for your brand online.
Just make sure you’re not soliciting good reviews. Make it clear you’re just asking for a review, and hope it’s a good one.
Conclusion
To keep customer acquisition costs low, you need to come up with some creative marketing tactics.
Making subtle changes to the ways your business operates can get your existing customers to recommend your brand to others.
Start with simple things like customer service. Always be friendly, and respond to customer inquiries as fast as possible.
Create a customer referral program that rewards your current customers for recommending you as well as your new customers for trying your brand out.
Help your customers celebrate important milestones and events in their lives.
Encourage user-generated content, and make it easy for your customers to review your business online.
If you follow these tips, your current customers will be recommending your business to new ones, expanding your customer base.
How are you leveraging recommendations from your existing customers to keep your customer acquisition costs low?

Some Infos:Always liked making money growing up like selling chocolate bars in school and so on. Tried lots of things so far like multiple T-Shirt selling attempts, affiliate websites and that kind of stuff. Never made much money besides a few good weeks of flipping mainly drop shipped on amazon or fulfilled by amazon but I discontinued due to time/scaleability but I will explain that at the end for people who are interested. Funny enough while I focused on youtube my few months old March by Amazon account finally made my first sale. Sold 3 of the same shirt all others got taken down due to no sales.Youtube Background:Started youtube super early when most people didn't know what it was. Had a channel with over a 1000 subscribers back when it was a big deal lmao. Had the opportunity to be one of the first youtube partners in my country but parents looked at me like I am crazy and of course didn't sign for me so yeah would have probably made them some good money considering how much it paid back then. Fast forward lots of projects, copyright issues and youtube updates later I had lots of channels mostly alone some with others but never made money or got successful. I blame some of it on my parents and some on all the things youtube would take years to accept in out country like uploading thumbnails I mean wtf.Anyways I created the channel of this case study around 3 years ago in hopes of launching a big projects thats still in the works and fits the content so yay. Uploaded a ton of videos on there to try stuff out and ended up deleting everything. At one point I had over 100 short videos uploaded and planned with finished descriptions and everything but scraped the whole idea after a few releases. Will explain why down below. So 8 months ago or so I uploaded the first video I wouldn't delete later. Posted it here and there and it got 30k views Then 3 months ago after some trail and error I uploaded the next video which was the same thing only over an hour long with much more information and everything. It took days of work just in researching and days to edit. Should have counted the hours but I just came home everyday and worked on it for a few hours for over two weeks I think. Tried send traffic from the older video and did my best with reddit and so on. The work paid off lots of people thanked me for the effort and worked its way up to 100k views which got me really excited. Still one of my better videos now sitting around 300k. Since then I uploaded over 25 videos.Stats:Subscribers 2k+ Views 3M+ Videos 25+Had 25 inactive subs from experimenting then took for ever to grow to 50 from there around 1 a day for a while until the spike of the 100k video that gave me +100 subscribers in a day. At some point it finally started growing constantly and had some good spikes in the third month.Income:Month 1: 90 Month 2: 290 Month 3: 1400Started while the whole YouTube Add boycott was going on and at some point between the end of month 1 & the middle of month 2 (not exactly sure analytics are very inaccurate n youtube for small channels and for example estimated income was accurate the first time in the third month) my income dropped to 0 for weeks not sure how much money I lost. Overall I heard income is good 30% down since then so I broke $1000+ a month while every freaking youtuber cried for money and started donation accounts.Estimated Month 4: 1200 Had several really good performing videos last month and it will be hard topping that this month unless my next video will proof me wrong but I am sure I will get a new record in month 5 since almost every video makes constant money in addition to the spike in the first week or two of the upload and its really starting to ad up. Also got some good videos planed.Subscribers:Now 3M views and only 2k subscribers seems like a really bad conversion rate but YouTube is confusing in that sense. The more subscribers and views you get the easier it is to get them. Getting to 100 almost feels impossible at first then 1000 seems doable but takes for ever and then it actually starts growing and around 10.000 is the sweet spot where you finally made it. People start commenting about how big you are gonna get and how glad they are that they are here before the hype. Its like once you get more subscriber people actually take you serious even though the content was always just as good like when people wait in line just because the line is so long and that means the food must be good.Video Upload Amount:When starting out focus on nothing but quality videos. Otherwise people find your channel with 100s of videos and no subscribers or views and are overwhelmed with where to start watching. They also see the bad stats and assume your content must suck. I could go a lot more in depth if you are interested but for example look at gamers or vloggers with 100s of episodes and no views and if you klick on lets say episode 257 its just some random dude filming him self eating or silently running trough a dessert in Minecraft and within a minute you klick on a recommended video or leave youtube. But if someone finds your channel and you have 10 videos but all are amazing the viewer it tempted to subscribe since he likes the content but ran out of material to watch. Thats the main reason why I rather upload a few times maybe even just once a week but get share worthy high quality content with 100k views then daily uploads which would help in seo terms but are just not doable for most people if you keep the quality. Also daylight uploads are much more effective if you wait until you have a subscribers base thats waiting and actively asking for it.Thumbnails:Thumbnails are everything they must be easy to understand like one clear picture of something explaining the video. Random example if you make a video about cows you use a clear picture of a cow or a glass of milk. Don't use text for 99% or your thumbnails because its not eye catching, you already have the title for that and its hard to read since on mobile for example the time stamp at the right corner covers usually the last few digits so yeah. I know some successful channels always use text but they are either really god at making them or are already successful enough for other rains then their thumbnails.Video length:I found that 3 minute videos get really well shared but longer content is more impressive, helps with watch time, pays more and people have more time to go to the comment section and stuff. Two of my best videos are over an hour long. Also youtube favors over 10 min videos since adds before after the video.Description box:I still play around with it but I try to make a catching and seo friendly first sentence and I often advertise my others videos. I also try to rephrase the title and add additional informations.Tags:My main tags that bring viewers are really simple ones but longer ones usually and really well on youtube.Annotations:I don't use it since soon gone.Cards:New version of annotations. Mobile friendly. I don't use them on all my videos since I put a lot of effort in them and I don't want to dissect the viewer with popping up cards or asking for likes or anything.End Cards:Use them on all my videos and its nice to send some traffic to other videos but regarding the analytics only a few % of views come from them so its debatable how important they are. I always fit them in with music of the video and stuff so its more engaging and people don't mind it.Making additional money:At first I didn't do anything like affiliate links since I don't want my subscribers to think I just made the channel for money. Lately I placed some links in the description without mentioning it in the video in any form and still got some clicks but no sales. One of those links was to my Merch shirt but also no sales. Will definitely redo my designs and think about fitting products for the affiliate links and add them back in at some point. Maybe I will do a Teespring campaign for special videos or something but like I said its more important to grow the channel then to make some extra cash and risking to make the growth harder.Competitors and Stolen Videos:People already re uploading my videos without giving credit. Left comments on the ones I found and claimed copyright on some. Youtube took them down within a few days.Copyright and Age Restrictions:Had one video flagged for non advertising friendly (yt update since ad boycott) but dispute got accepted within a few hours I think. Had someone threaten to sue me for using a few seconds of material in my longest video. I offered links in the description, in the video and end cards but apparently some people rather fight then get free advertisement all over a several hundred thousand views video. Literally seconds out of an hour. Deleted the clips with the youtube editor without taking it down so kept all the stats. Recent video got copyrighted for the same thing I used in a different video which didn't get copyrighted. Did some research and found out its probably a scam youtube network and I claimed a dispute but no answer yet. Luckily I didn't release it yet but no Idea how they can flag my private video without owning the content but I have to figure that out. Ended up deleting it and uploading it again later without problems.Water Marks:I don't really use one like some people where its always in the corner or something but I place it here and there if that makes sense. Only really big ones protect against stealing it fairly well but I think they suck for the viewers. My videos are supposed to be like movies and do you want to have a giant Warner Brothers Water Mark when watching a movie? Small ones can be ok if they are well made but they get covered by the peoples water marks who steal the videos so they won't help. Depending on the content they can make it seem professional and so on but anyways moving on.All about the Money?I always enjoyed making videos way before I made a cent with it and still do so its confusing because I still somehow feel like I would lie if I say I don't do it for the money. I mean additional 1000 a month is huge for me so its definitely a factor. Its a hobby that makes money so I would be stupid to not do it. I don't know.Goals:Keep income at constant $1000+ Make $2000+ within a month. Start using my website in combination with my videos. Reach 10.000 Subscribers Get enough videos pre made and planed. Get the few low performing videos above 10.000 views. Find more good copyright free music. Keep improving editing. Figure out the best way to deal with re uploads. The Amazon FBA & Drop Shipping Bonus Story:I always sold stuff I no longer used or could randomly get really cheap in person or on ebay. At some point started using amazon. Much later I started using FBA and I was basically exploiting a market which was extremely low completion on amazon. After the first good week I already got a spike in competitors and by now it went from thousands of percent margins close to nothing. One of my best sellers sometimes cost me $3 and I sold it it for $40 and for a while I sold several of those a say so that was exciting. I typed in the main keyword in to amazon, sorted all items by highest price first and listed every single product from over 100 amazon pages. Did all of it without any plugins or tools besides something that could grab the ean number by clicking on the product forgot the name. Main reasons why I stopped was several things. First competitors became a problem because some where undercutting prices insanely like dropping the $40 bestseller to $7 so yeah. (Funny thing it was a collectors niche so selling them that cheap is just stupid because you cant just order lots of them like you could with alibaba stuff.) Second the site I mainly used to buy and drop ship everything was huge but I still created price spikes with my best sellers so I could run out any time. Third my country doesn't have its own Amazon domain like .com so we don't have FBA shipping discounts and other things which would help immensely since international shipping depending on the amazon fertility gets expensive. Fourth it was extremely time consuming I mean if I edit a video for a few hours plus respond to people and stuff it also take a while but the video can make 100s or even thousands of dollars and keeps making profit and getting views every day and the growth of the channel pays of immensely over time. Feels much more useful then researching and listing products all day and connately fight competitors with pricing and all that stuff. Overall it was still extremely worth it since I learned a lot and had a ton of fun making significant money online for the first time while being kinda broke that time. I will definitely come out with my own products at some point and chances are high I will use FBA to distribute them.TLDR: Started focusing on youtube and made $1000+ while add boycott was going on and everyone was crying for donations and acted like the world would end. Reached 3M vies and 2K subscribers. Had experience but learned a lot.

Passive Income Ideas For 2019 and Beyond
Good Affiliate Programs For Passive Income:
Amazon Associates Program
REI Affiliate Program
Bluehost Affiliate Program
CJ Affiliate Network
Shareasale Affiliate Network
Get-Your-Guide Affiliate Program
Booking.com Affiliate
WorldNomads Insurance Partner Program

Click here to learn more about becoming an Airbnb host.
