#everytime i see them in our bookshelf i am like MY BELOVEDS#it's the jasmine throne/the oleander sword btw#it's just. it's just so GOOD.#like there's a lot of books i adore for a variety of reasons but these ones are just Excellent Books on top of everything else#story plot characterisation worldbuilding relationships they're all intrinsically tied together and balanced so well#also it allows itself to be so ANGRY about oppression (mainly misogyny but homophobia and racism are also central to the themes and plot)#which - as much as i like queernorm books - is just. so refreshing#all my girlies (gn) who love black sails should read those books. they have Things in common. things that make my brain go brrrr#different pov characters who represent different worldviews and aspirations and none of them are Right and none of them are Wrong!!!!#i scream
