Ooh hurt my own feelings with a headcanon at work again.

So two of my Rooks (neither are the protagonist of the game) were raised together from the time Nasreen was about 11 and Aleksei was 12. When Aleksei turns 18 he leaves home to go be a sailor/eventually Lord of Fortune, and leave Nasreen behind, which she’s never forgiven him for.

Flash forward about 8 years, and they both end up at the Lighthouse. They haven’t talked in all this time, but Aleksei has neurodivergent brain and doesn’t realize this means they aren’t friends anymore. He’s never written her a letter, but he’s functionally illiterate so that’s not really a fair thing to be mad about. At any rate Nasreen won’t talk to him and eventually blows up at him about how much he hurt her.

No one else knows he can barely read or write, but he opens up to Bellara about it, and over the course of a few weeks they write a short story summary of everything Nasreen has missed in Aleksei’s life, and all the times he’s thought about her and questions he’s wanted to ask her, and most of all how sorry he is. He gives it to her as a gift and she fully breaks down crying and forgives him
