Some ways I relate to the Beppu twins and believe they deserve their chance at redemption
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: This is a bit of analysis based on what we know and how I've interpreted these characters. In no way is it meant to be a persuasive piece - just some personal reflection - but anyone is welcome to read and/or reblog if they want to. I will do a proper multi-part in-depth analysis on these characters later, but for now this is just some personal ramblings because I needed to put my thoughts into words.
Also, I was debating whether or not to include screenshots with this to help demonstrate certain points, but I decided against it, since this is more of a personal thing that I felt like sharing (and I plan to elaborate more properly in a less personal way later anyway). Otherwise, this is still kind of long, so it's going below a cut to save everyone the trouble of reading it if they're not interested.
Warning: Some light mentions of abuse, though not very detailed. I tiptoed around it because I didn’t feel like sharing the specifics where it wasn’t needed.
~.~
1) Aki and Haru were forced to grow up too fast - be independent, be idols, toughen up, protect themselves/each other - and as a result they got the idea in their heads that they were mature and somehow better than everyone else despite having a stunted growth in maturity.
They're still largely acting like young kids, making faces at people they don't like and calling people silly names as insults all while holding themselves higher than everyone around them. They seated themselves on a pedestal even though their maturity level is arguably lower than other characters their age. They clearly don't notice this discrepancy either or acknowledge that they're overcompensating and so they make fun of other people for not being on their self-proclaimed elevated level.
I'm sure it doesn't help that they've been held up and praised by their fanbase from such a young age either. Plus, with Dadacha (a presumably trusted authority figure in their lives, whether or not that "trust" was earned or demanded) telling them how great they are all the time and feeding into that desire to be "the best", they surely must have come to believe all the hype, clutching it close with white-knuckled fists in order to keep themselves strong so they could carry on and achieve their goal.
It took me years (and, by that, I mean once I hit my 20's) to realize I didn't have a proper concept of age because of what I went through. I was almost exactly like that.
People would tell me I was "so mature" for my age and praise me for what I now realize were rather shallow things. But it went to my head because that was literally all I had to be proud of about myself, regardless of whether or not it was true. I had to force myself to grow up too quickly in order to prove myself so that I "wouldn't be like everyone else" because I was told that was bad and why should I aspire to be less than the best.
I had to take care of my brothers because no one else was going to. We all tried to take care of each other, but - as the next point will explain - we didn't have the healthiest relationship with each other either. We were much more forgiving of it back then because we gave as good as we got. Mostly, the older siblings (my older brother and I) had to take care of the younger siblings to make up for the lack of parenting in certain areas because we didn't want to see them fall behind or suffer for not knowing something even though we had nowhere near the skills to do a proper job either. But our parents would always say "do you want to be the parents and do our jobs for us?" and try to punish us because they interpreted us looking out for our younger siblings as trying to usurp their power in the household or something. So, instead, they tried to instill a competitive nature in us.
Our parents would compare our accomplishments and failures to each other's all the time and threaten us (usually by putting our safety and well-being on the line) in order to scare us into being motivated to do better than what we were personally capable of. If one of us managed to do better than the others, we got praised and treated for it and told that we were the only one who was going to be successful. Those "compliments" came so infrequently that we latched onto them and fought for approval when it turned out that approval was only a manipulation tactic that wasn't real. It kind of stung (but was also a relief) when I found out they had admitted out loud that they would never be proud of us because "why should we be proud of our kids?"
Because of my warped perception of myself and my aspirations, I thought too highly of myself... and yet my maturity level was far below what it should have been for my age. It also took me way too long to realize that certain things that were "appropriate" for people my age weren't necessarily appropriate for people my younger brothers' ages (I was actually more at their maturity level than what I should have been because of how stunted I was and it never occurred to me that there was a pretty decent age gap of 3-4 years between us)... or that things people said were appropriate for people my age... weren't actually appropriate for people my age and in fact wouldn't be appropriate for me at all until I was much older.
2) Aki and Haru were victims who became bullies as a defense mechanism to defend themselves against getting hurt/broken again and as a reaction to the threat of their most important thing (aka: their hero) being taken away from them. It's a dog eat dog world out there and they knew it was kill or be killed, especially in their industry, so they had to always have the upper hand because they only had each other to depend on.
Goura had told them to grow up strong even if it meant causing mischief. Even though he meant it more like "as long as you stay alive, that's what matters", they took him literally. I mean, it's still impressive that they had it in them and could do it, but you see where that landed them.
It was extremely unhealthy for them to develop such a fixation on Goura like they did, but when that was their only dependable connection to other humans (considering their father was hardly around and became someone who never kept his promises to them)... he became their hope for carrying on in a world that was so foreign to and unaccepting of them for long enough to leave a prolonged impact on them (like my next point states). After experiencing "losing" him time and time again despite trying so hard to reach him, they became desperate to obtain the ideal they had of him in the form of his acknowledgement... and eventually the security of his presence in their lives.
Growing up in my household, it was very much "kill or be killed" and my brothers were all very aware, so we acted accordingly. Naturally, that bled into our behavior around other people as well. And despite how I am now, I did a lot of terrible, abusive, and despicable things to other people (especially my brothers) in defense of myself or to protect what I thought was mine (I had a hard time letting things go) all the way up until I was in high school and was forced to really take a look at myself as a person. That was when I realized I didn't like who I had become and made a conscious effort to change, do my best to make it up to the people I had wronged, and ensure that I wouldn't hurt anyone like that again.
Of course, I was still in denial about a lot of my issues/behavior until I got to college...
3) Trust issues. Aki and Haru don't believe anyone but their hero is genuine because everyone has proven to want something from them, let them down, annoy them, or just not understand/get them. Because of this, they see their hero as something flawless... which would surely hurt their trust issues further if such an illusion of perfection was ever shattered (*ahem* the glass coffin motif in the s2 finale).
...let's just say this hit a strong personal note with me.
I remember when that illusion shattered and I felt like my entire world had crumbled beneath me. I had struggled in hardcore denial every step of the way, aggressively trying to convince myself that I was right, everything was fine just the way it was, I didn't need anyone, the rest of the world just didn't get it, if I just kept going down the brutal self-assured path I was on I'd come out on top, etc.
So, when everything I thought I had known turned out to be a lie and I was forced to really look at it for the first time without a filter, I had to rebuild my view of the world and other people from the ground up. It took a lot of people repeatedly telling me "this is not okay" for me to finally accept it. I had fallen so far (in ways I don't want to mention in detail right now) all because of this glass world that had been built up around me. I needed it to shatter hard, and for someone to acknowledge what I had been purposely blinding myself to and tell me that they believed in me because they wanted me to become someone I could be truly proud of instead of what I thought someone else should be proud of.
I cried a lot and for a long time when it happened. It was a lot to process and it’s still overwhelming to me all these years later now that I’m dealing with the repercussions of it.
~.~
There are more things I could point out, but these details in particular stuck out at me first as I was preparing a series of analyses about the twins and started thinking these issues sounded VERY familiar to me. This is extremely important to me and maybe this realization is why it hurts me so much when someone says the twins aren't worthy of a redemption.
Because, if Aki and Haru aren't worthy of redemption, then I most certainly am not worthy of it either.
I was a horrible person not too long ago, but once I was slapped in the face with reality and was able to make a conscious effort to fix myself, I became someone that most people tend to say is a decent person. If I could crawl out of that nightmarish hell pit, I think the twins can as well. I had to do it on my own, for the most part, but the twins have other people to help them point out what needs to be changed and encourage their developing self-awareness (like I do now and, trust me, it helps).
They are still in the process of realizing and processing all of these things about themselves throughout season 2. Sure, we didn't get to see them actually go through the nasty cleanup process that I've personally had to experience. But we're told to believe that it is happening and the season 2 finale does show they're making some headway with it. I would love to see it for myself because they still have a long way to go like I still do and they're only at the beginning of their journey, but I'm happy just knowing that the writers gave them this chance one way or another.
Once again, this is all my personal interpretation of the characters based on what we've seen of them so far in the show. I'm not as familiar with the other supplementary material that involves them, unfortunately, so I didn't include it in my personal pondering here. I just took a closer look at Haru and Aki in season 2 and saw a lot of myself in them. And this is what I came away with after thinking about it for a while. I am in no way implying that this is 100% canon.

Well I got at least two people interested (@esmeralda-anistasia and @deathsmallcaps) so why not.
Quick disclaimer: I understand that some fans can be very sensitive to this topic and take general criticisms as personal attacks and jump to the defensive. Please don't justify your ships to me if you have that reaction to anything said in this post. It's not my business and if I'm honest I really don't care. Your experiences are not mine and will not change mine and nothing I'm about to say is meant to be read as an insult.
Okay onto the rarepairs in question!
I was ten years old when the episode Zuko Alone first aired and Ursa fascinated me. She was so elegant and sweet, and yet the implication was that she was also capable of assassination. Her disappearence and the fact everyone involved kept pretty hush-hush about her gave her character an air of mystery and Zuko's memories involving her made him a great deal more interesting and sympathetic (i still rolled my eyes every time he showed up and thought he didn't deserve all the cute moments with Mai until The Day of Black Sun, and even then still thought Jet was cooler in every way, but you can't please them all). She had quickly become a favorite character and I've held onto that adoration for about 15 years now.
I also really wanted her to kiss Hakoda.
They had compatible personalities and deserved some luck in love after all the heartbreak and trials, and they both loved their children despite having to leave. Ursa was never treated as dead, just gone. She could have been anywhere and there was nothing to say she couldn't have crossed paths with Hakoda and his men.
There was also something about it I didn't quite have the words or media exposure to explain. Often, in fandom or canon, if a relationship is biracial, the partner who is fairer-skinned and/or of the dominant or invading culture, who the audience sees themselves in, is the man and the one who is darker-skinned and/or marginalized or colonized is the woman (heteronormativity got a head start on this one). There's a lot of ugly "taming the savage" rhetoric in this, usually paired with blatant misogyny that's supposed to be in the woman's favor (like suggesting that a woman could only be complicit in this culture because it was what she was told and didn't know any better). The woman's family and friends who oppose this are depicted as unfairly prejudiced against this strange man as if their distaste for people who can be or have been responsible for things like genocide or subjugation is the same as the other side seeing these people as deserving of genocide or subjugation for the crime of not being like them. Sometimes it's the other way around, where the partner seen as "more civilized" is the woman and the one seen as "less civilized" is the man, in which case the woman is often abducted or otherwise the man's defining feature is his brutishness. This supposed brutishness is both intimidating and attractive to the oh so delicate if a bit repressed captive/wife (as well as the audience) and can manifest as being fiercely protective of her, which is how he shows his affection if there is a language barrier between them. And if you grow up Native, this is easy to pick up on and often in the back of your mind, because at least 90% of your media representation likely has some aspect mentioned above.
(Man that was a lot of academic style analysis)
But the dynamic between Hakoda and Ursa wouldn't leave room for any of that. Hakoda, as an absent parent backstory, is defined by having to leave despite how much he loved and would miss his children. Ursa, as an absent parent backstory, is defined by the crime she was willing to commit for her children (for Zuko specifically, but how long would it actually take for Azula to shoot her mouth off at the wrong place and time and also be targeted by Azulon?). Ursa was the one whose willingness to kill sent her fleeing into the night. The culture of her nation betrayed her and made her choose between her own safety and that of at least one of her children. Hakoda is charismatic and a good leader, but he is also soft spoken and understanding, and above all else, gentle. He isn't here to hurt innocents. He's here to see to it that the next generation of his people will not fear invaders or raids or even know that snow can be black from soot. And he's someone Ursa can finally feel safe around and confide in, and she could be the same for him. Someone he doesn't have to be the leader for, to whom he can admit that he just wants to be home and let the tears fall.
I'm honest enough to admit that one of the reasons I liked The Search was that Ikem wore his hair a lot like Hakoda did and that was close enough to it being canon for me.
Another one is Jin/Smellerbee. Something about their personalities strikes me as being so wonderfully harmonious and I like to imagine Jin, smooth-talking and streetwise but still the most genuine person, being the one to sit Smellerbee, who never really got a chance to think about these things, down and explain that anything she might be is okay. That it's okay to not be in love with a guy friend who gave her a purpose and loyal companionship. That it's okay to like girls. That she can have more than one partner. That it's okay to be different from what's considered normal and proper and not have an easy word to describe it. And eventually she'd realize it's true. And eventually she'd realize that she wasn't teasing when she called her beautiful in a wild sort of way.
I also like to think that Smellerbee clearly has more specialized fighting skills and is very good at what she does but Jin is strong enough to bench press her no problem. And Smellerbee acts all tough (because she is) but blushes whenever Jin calls her cute or pretty because she's not used to it.
Sometimes Longshot is involved too. Not as a third wheel or the exact same kind of partner, more like a ghibli style relationship with Smellerbee. Like is it a gentle romance? Is it an intimate friendship? It's love and they know that and don't have to define it by others' perception. And Jin gives Longshot kisses so he doesn't feel left out, which gets him a bit bashful because she really could have anyone, she already has Smellerbee of all people, and she still finds him deserving of a peck on the cheek. They probably all bunk together.
This actually started from a fic I wrote but don't intend on posting more than snippets of. Basically, i was tired of a lot of fanfic tropes, especially those having to do with friends to lovers and soulmates (this world is not kind to aromantics and the last thing I wanted in my escapism was romance being established as a level up for relationships), so I wrote something to actively subvert all of them. Jet and Smellerbee were each convinced they owed the other a romantic relationship after all they'd been through together, even though neither actually wanted it, because that's how all the stories go. So after he dies, she remembers all those times that would have been romantic if either was actually interested, but were instead just uncomfortable because it was entirely social convention and no feeling. But then she comes across Jin, who she's never met before, but who takes her in her arms and reassures her and sympathizes with her, and in this tiny apartment in this seedy side of town, she feels safe. She seeks permission for every touch and kiss and tells her this encounter doesn't have to be anything she isn't comfortable with. And when Smellerbee has to leave, Jin insists she take a candle to light her way, and winks when she says she can return it the day after. She gives her an excuse to visit again. And Smellerbee blushes and accepts it.
And then there's Teo/Haru and Teo/Ty Lee. No special reason I just think both would make a cute couple and want Teo to be happy. He's a good boy, more people should love him. Let him impress people with wheelchair tricks and get smooched.

Haru clutches her class notes to her chest as she descends the stairwell, feeling--stupid.  Taking care of the planters should not be a big deal, but she was so scatterbrained when she went to tend to them before classes that she left two of her notebooks on the rooftop, and it took a whole class period for her to realize where they might be.  She doesn’t know what’s gotten into her.  Or--she does know she’s upset about the arrangement her father mentioned, but the news has had time to sink in, and she’s known for a while to expect it.  It shouldn’t still be distracting her this badly.
It’s just...Sugimura is so much older than her, and--
“Oh!” after rounding a turn in the stairwell, Haru pulls up short, just shy of smacking into another girl.  Her fluster compounding, she gives the girl a jerky nod of acknowledgment and a hasty “I’m so sorry!”, hoping she hasn’t upset her fellow student too badly.  She must be her kouhai; Haru doesn’t recognize her as a fellow third-year, and a third-year wouldn’t be going upstairs right now anyway, all their classrooms on the first floor.  But her profile is vaguely familiar, and Haru tries to pinpoint how she knows the girl.  Hopefully it’s just from some school event; Haru would hope she isn’t so scatter-brained as to forget the daughter of one of her father’s business partners, and she would also hope, selfishly, that no such person attends Shujin, since it would dash her own chances at anonymity.
The other girl doesn’t seem to recognize her, though.  In fact, the other girl barely seems to recognize the near-collision they just had, her eyes flickering up from the steps to glance at Haru.  They’re puffy.  Bloodshot.  They’re dry, but there’s a tinge to the girl’s quiet voice as she says “it’s alright” that makes Haru very worried she’s been crying.
“Is everything okay?” Haru asks, which feels like such a stupid question because obviously everything is not, but she doesn’t know how else to start.
The girl just shakes her head, her messy ponytail waving with the motion.  “It’s fine.  You didn’t hit me.  I just...classes are about to start.”
“Oh--yes.”  She’s right.  The period between classes isn’t that long, and Haru knows a dismissal when she hears it.  It’s understandable.  She wouldn’t want to talk about her troubles to a stranger either.  All she can offer the girl is a smile.  “Well, I--I hope your day gets better.”
“Mm.”  The girl nods, but after that brief acknowledgment her eyes slide past Haru and she keeps trudging up to the third floor.  A first-year, then.  But that doesn’t seem right.  Why would a first-year seem familiar?  Unless she really is the daughter of one of her father’s business partners...Oh, her memory is definitely shot.  Haru has to remember.
Haru’s foot touches the base of the stairs when it finally clicks how she knows the girl.  It has nothing to do with Okumura Foods at all.  She’s seen that girl at the side of someone much more recognizable, a blonde second-year who’s already being gossiped about again even though the school year just started.  They’re friends.
Which means the girl is a second-year herself.  Then why had she passed the second-years’ floor?
The chime of a bell breaks through Haru’s confusion.  She’s immediately disappointed in herself, because now she’ll be late to class and disrupt it when she comes in and she would have gotten there on time if she hadn’t needed to retrieve her notes.
And then she finds herself slowly turning around and going back up the stairs, because if she’s already late, then she’d really rather make sure that second-year is alright and not crying at the top of the stairwell.  Haru trains her eyes upward.  She doesn’t see or hear anyone, though, and if the girl decided to hide somewhere on the third floor there’s no way Haru will find her without getting in trouble with a teacher herself.
...But Haru doesn’t remember leaving the door to the roof open like that.  The girl must have decided to seek refuge somewhere she’d be left completely alone; it’s a desire Haru can sympathize with very much.  And she will leave the girl alone, if there’s nothing she can do to help, but if her kouhai is upset enough to ditch classes, then--then it’s just her duty as a senpai to try and offer again, isn’t it?
The first thing Haru hears when she steps out on the roof is the fencing rattling discordantly.  The next thing she hears is short, quiet grunts of exertion.
The second-year is climbing the roof fence.  She makes quick work of it, too, already at the top by the Haru realizes what’s happening.  What’s going to happen.
“Stop!”  It’s a shriek far too shrill, but it gets the girl to stop halfway between swinging herself over the fencing, and Haru, already dashing to the fence, grabs the ankle she can still reach.

If you're a funny manga lover
mangairo is a supreme funny manga I such as to separate the funny category into the anime program in basic as well as two types in regards to it: the first one is the funny stream that's existing through the entire program. It's by coincidence, to obtain us grin every as soon as periodically, to bring some even more energy as well as there to make the show a tad lighter. The second one, nonetheless, has a tendency to concentrate on scenes that are private as opposed to bringing the far-out setup. It focuses on scenes as well as jokes that make us not just smile, yet laugh.
mangairo is the next kind. Additionally, it is extremely successful.
The chain' beginning is rather dark and significant, but if you review the summary and also've had a look in the categories, then you definitely can visualize that it does not stay like that for long. We're presented to the situation that went down in the universe the world in which our principal characters initially resided in, of Ente Isla. Succeeding to Hero Emilia conquered the terrific Satan Lord Jacob, he is made to pull back and also run away. Right before departure, Jacob declares that he'll return and also recoup control over Ente Isla.
Right besides of the intensity is gone, the fun starts.
Japan, to be unique. I 'dn't desire to ruin a lot, since it 'd really be greatest that you see it on your own, although I can go on and on concerning what the outcomes are to them.
haru matsu bokura manga our primary personalities which originate from Ente Isla have to assimilate the regular life of an individual. That includes getting work, paying for normal expenditures, etc. Does that appear somewhat plain? Well, that's a lot from it. Unnatural activity can be found in also, additionally being spiced up with a few amazing wit on each edge. Our protagonist are attacked! They're being gone after! Is this the time to stress over them? No. It's the moment to laugh to your heart's want, because every scene exists amusing way, or in a badass.
After being "tamed" by our first key leads, they settle back in the world also, each of their lives living within their particular manner.
You might get a picture of what kind of deals are made because most of the angels which come from Ente Isla are women, while the adversaries are male. It's a broad-known claiming that men, us, have no weapons versus ladies, so for us to withstand, the sole thing we can do is stick. Our adversaries do only that. Carefully. On the start, Alsiel as well as Jacob allowed instead a little level, simply consisting of adequate room for the two. But no, matters obtain simply (even worse) a lot more enjoyable. Yet another devil comes and also after demonstrated poorer, that little flat ends up being a smaller sized fortress of fools and also being subjugated, in a manner of speaking.
And also our peeps that are superordinary head with wit expecting us on every single corner, towards their regular troubles.
Concentrating a little on additional parts also, sound and the art work are wonderful. The artwork is really appealing, making the personalities rather lovable for the eye to see (yes, you can love those pixels facing you). What's entrusted to obtain us laugh in addition to the message together with the anime? Certainly, how the message is talked as well as offered! A certain shoutout mosts likely to Ryota Ohsaka below, that's expressing our MC, has actually done it, and Jacob.
The show is made by the personalities. Alongside with the scenes they obtain found in, we reach sympathize with them, they are taken by us as some ignorant fools, we should see them get raged-over much more, etc. On quick, we need even more of each and every single one of those. It's one of these occasional circumstances where the dumb characters in some show aren't frustrating. The catch is that they're not mainstream. Means from that. They might be totally special, and also their stupidness is extraordinary additionally. It gets to amounts much past. Well, from every little thing I've composed yet, I presume you can imagine what my pleasure resembles. It's pumping high. Actually high.
mangairo is slamming. There's some top quality focus in the program. However, it's grand. Oh yes, it's. In all sincerity, I can't recall the most current time that I've throughout watching some anime show had such terrific laughs, however I certainly will recall mangairo for an extensive quantity of time. Heck, on the occasion that you'ven't seen it yet, see to it if you feel like seeing some excellent wit to highlight its precedence to the optimum. Unbelievably shown. I highly advise this to anyone who read manga. If you would like to learn more, please visit: https://themangablog.sitey.me/iyxos6blp2hsyqyki45d61618942395

You’ve been matched with...
@rust-effect Thank you for the request! <3 I actually struggled between a few different characters for you. :’D Rest assured that your icon wasn’t the deciding factor though; if I couldn’t write a lot justifying it, I kneew I probably wasn’t going in the right direction askdfalsdf
Tumblr media
Ann is the type of girl who manages to be both upbeat and grounding at the same time, which I think would be a good match for you! She really admires the generosity that you show to other people, but she also takes it upon herself to make sure that no one takes advantage of your kindness either. While she knows that you’re capable of letting others know if you’re uncomfortable with a situation, Ann won’t hesitate to step in on your behalf if she feels you’ve been wronged or insulted in some way. Kind though she is, she’s not the type who can simply stand aside, and her wrath will be made evident if someone tries to push the matter.
She can sympathize with the fact that you instinctively act differently in front of strangers—who doesn’t?—based off the fact that she can also be quite wary around those she doesn’t know. She’s had a rather stressful school life thanks to assumptions about her appearance and her as a person, but because of your friendly and warm nature, she’d probably feel more comfortable with dropping some of her defensive attributes, even when the two of you first meet. I think that she has the type of personality that may be able to quickly earn your trust as well; she’s very genuine and, despite her looks and status as a model, remains modest and encouraging to those close to her. During those rare occasions where someone has had something terrible and your temper flares as a result, Ann generally lets you do your thing (and is probably impressed by how intimidating you can come off as considering your usual countenance). The only time where she might step in is if she feels that there’s a threat to you or that you may say something that you’ll regret, but otherwise she understands—and encourages—the sense of freedom that comes from confronting someone who has done you wrong. If you’re still upset after the fact, she’ll bring you somewhere nice for some tea and desserts, or just spend the evening relaxing with you depending on what it is you need at the time.
HCs (w/ Ann):
Tea time together is definitely something that happens. Most of the time Ann brings you to cafes that are well known for their outstanding     desserts and will frequently offer to split different treats with you so     that you can sample a wide array.
Despite being very much into fashion, Ann doesn’t know a whole lot about Lolita fashion, so the fact that you have an interest in it is something that fascinates her. She’ll frequently ask you questions     about the different types and styles, ask whether you have any cute     dresses, ask if she can help with your hair and makeup, and so on. She’d be keen on giving Lolita fashion a try at least once and, if you’re     comfortable with it, perhaps even see if she can get a professional photoshoot done for the two of you.
Movie nights with Ann is always fun because she’s adventurous     enough that she’s willing to try giving any genre a try so long as the movie’s synopsis sounds interesting. That being said, if your love of spooky things extends to horror movies, please don’t be surprised if you have a terrified blonde hiding her face behind your arm halfway through the film!
Sleepover dates are definitely a thing. Sometimes you’ll head on over to her place to find that she’s laid out a bunch of different spa masks and oils to pamper you with. These “spa sessions” are never exactly taken seriously though; you two make the conscious effort to use the products as intended at first, but may occasionally get into some sort of clay mask play-fight an hour in (GUYS that stuff’s expensive!!!!)
 HCs (w/ Phantom Thieves)
I think you’d definitely get along very well with Haru! In addition to the fact that she’ll frequently invite you over to have tea and chat with her, you two share the similarity of being quite sweet and mild-mannered in general…but scary when pushed to a certain limit. While you both may not be aware of that particular aspect of yourselves, the other Phantom Thieves are, and nothing scares them more than seeing the two of you get angry and gang up on someone at the same time.
Yusuke’s not all that exposed to trends and different fashions, so I think learning that you like Lolita fashion would fascinate him. Unlike Ann, he regretfully will not ask to try on Lolita-based outfits with you, but he probably will ask you to pose for a few pictures for him if you’d be willing. If you were to glance over at him while he is working on a sketch though, you’d likely see him with creased brows while he mutters “so many frills” to himself.
Honestly, Akira is just a great person to hang out with in general. He’s relaxed and observant, and also remarkably collected. If you ever want to brave something like a haunted house with someone who won’t cut off all circulation to one of your limbs from clinging so hard, Akira’s your guy. …Or Yusuke, but the likelihood of you having to cling to him in order to drag him out, sketchbook and all, is the more likely scenario here.
Short Scenario:
You and Ann put on some lovely Lolita outfits for an impromptu photoshoot, where your photographers are…less than qualified. You finger the delicate lace that ran along the edge of your dress, smiling in amusement as you watched the scene before you. Ann, who was dressed from head to toe in an outfit you had coordinated together, was busy talking to Ryuji and Akira. Both boys held cameras in their hands, and both boys looked…well, perhaps nervous wasn’t the exact word, but at least somewhat apprehensive about the task that was being bestowed upon them. Ann drew back from your friends, her hair, curled instead of done up in her usual pigtails, bouncing a little from the movement. “So then all you do is use this to make sure that we’re in focus, and then press down…and that’s it! Got all of that?” “We’ll see,” Akira said, just as Ryuji cried out a vehement, “Absolutely not!” Your girlfriend waved off their concerns with the reassurance that they’d probably figure it out, and then hurried back to your side. Flashing you a grin, she took one of your arms and pulled you over to the garden of blooming roses that you had both selected as your set for today. After a few unconvincing test shots (Is…is this really going to be okay with these two, you had wondered to yourself briefly), the actual shoot began. “I like this,” Ann announced suddenly midway through the shoot. You had just changed poses, with your girlfriend standing directly beside you, her cheek resting on the top of your head and her fingers twined with yours, “I mean, I’m in front of a camera a lot, but…this is different, you know? I’m more excited seeing the pictures knowing that they’re with you.” You smiled up at her. “Yeah, me too.” The smile she gave you in return was warm, and after shooting a quick side glance over at the boys to make sure they weren’t looking, she ducked down to press a kiss to you lips.
Extended ending:
“Ryuji, what the hell is this?!” “Dude, I’m not a photographer, okay? What were you expectin’?!” “Not a picture of cement! And…Akira, what is this?!” “A bird.” “I can see that, but why did you need to take a picture of it?” “Morgana wanted it.” You watched the trio bicker in front of you and let out a fond, but exasperated, sigh. Akira took the picture of the bird and slipped it into his bag and into the waiting paws of Morgana, while the two blondes were busy arguing. Reaching out, you sifted through the pictures until— “Oh.” You were flabbergasted to see that one of the boys had captured your and Ann’s brief kiss perfectly on camera.
