Happy Holidays friendly fae folks
I’m watching The Living Daylights with my Dad. Very fun, I am becoming steadily more obsessed with the Bond franchise and I am ready for it (I’m also grateful that my Dad still wants to watch them with me even with my predictions on the plot and comments on characters. I think I’m funny but…)
I got an Aston Martin LEGO and olives as a present, so it’s nice that they know that my interest in Bond is recognised
As soon as Pushkin walked on in like You! I know you! (He’s in Star Trek) One of my favourite games is what’s that actor from?
Also loved seeing Felix again, he’s a funny little lad
#lorax’s quibbles#take my quibbles as you will#happy holidays#james bond#daltons fun#I find him more emotive he’s giving new money like he’s posh but definitely a different posh to past bonds#like he was borderline grinning in one shot and I was like huh?#you’d never see Moore with anything more that a smirk#*than#I love watching the evolution of film tech music politics while watching the bond films#star trek#he’s da vinki#also in princess diaries as chris pines uncle#there’s a new moneypenny and I don’t know how I’ll cope#I love Lois#beautiful lady#just stunning#I know that she’ll always be my fav#also she has a fucking strad and she lets this fool handle it#it got fucking shot#I mean the disrespect

ok i literally just clicked on your blog and i saw sambucky princess diaries 2 au and i NEED to know everything about it please
hello!!!!!!!! thank you for the ask <3
so the princess diaries 2 au is definitely happening but in the early stages!!!! basically i was thinking about that scene where it’s like “i loathe you” “i loathed you first!” and then they make out and fall into a fountain bc i love enemies to lovers, anne hathaway, and chris pine and it lives in my head rent free and i was like,,,, sambucky vibes tho
so i rewatched the movie and took 2.5k words worth of plot notes on it. i’m about 3.5k words into writing it right now, i’m only on like my third bullet point of the plot, and bucky. has not shown up yet. so it’s gonna be a longer one lmao. i finished an au recently and it took up like three weeks of my life and i’m like “let’s do it again!”
if you want to learn more than below/talk to me as i go through the writing process feel free to dm me lmao! i promise i’m friendly and really want to talk about whatever i’m doing on this au at any given time <3
anyways here’s my who’s who in the au rundown:
sam is mia bc he’s also kind, compassionate, funny, wants more than anything to do the right thing, and struggles with taking up a mantle he’s not sure about/has a lot of themes around legacy (the legacy of the shield vs the legacy of a monarchy mia didn’t grow up in). sam’s parents decided to leave the monarchy and move to louisiana when sam was young, which is why he didn’t know about it. his way older brother gideon was left with their grandparents to rule, but not too long after his grandparents died and gideon took the throne he was killed in an accident, which is why sam got into all this
bucky is nicholas devereaux obvi. charming as hell when he wants to be, crazy blue eyes like chris pine’s, and can be the world’s biggest asshole. he actually really likes sam, but he’s been raised by his uncle in parliament (in this au, alexander pierce) to believe his duty is to rule genovia, as a person who didn’t grow up among its people (sam) shouldn’t be ruling its people. that crush on sam could prove problematic tho.
the current regent is lady margaret carter, who plays the queen clarisse role in this. she’s a long time advisor for the wilson line and took over as acting regent until sam is old enough to take the crown. now that he’s 21, she’s got plans to step down this year and let him take over with her going back to advising. peggy is elegant, funny, and a little petty, a la julie andrews, so i thought it fit. important to note peggy is giant in this au. 6’2 and 6’5 with heels. very important to the plot.
joe (security) is nat bc she’s scary and snarky like he is and also she adores sam just like joe adores mia. also this gives me the opportunity to write giant peggy/tiny nat which totally wasn’t a pro of me writing this au,,,,
sarah wilson is lilly moscovitz. a best friend and confidante that will take neither sam nor bucky’s shit, but WILL arrange for them to meet secretly despite sam’s fiancée whenever she sees how into each other they are.
maria rambeau is andrew (mia’s arranged partner). it took me a while to decide on this one but i think her and sam would get along (similar values, good people, maria is also air force) but have no romantic interest in each other at all AND this sets up perfectly for nicholas’s one date that andrew ends up with to be carol
last but not least tiny!steve is asana (raven symone’s character) bc i feel like the bit where she catches mia stealing a bit of cake and is like “i saw that!” has “on your left” vibes
#thank you for the ask and the opportunity to gush about this au!!!!#princess diaries au#marvel#otp: i’m coming with you#anonymous#ask#long post

Tag Meme Thing
rules answer 22 questions & tag 22 people you want to know better.
I was tagged by: @icebluecyanide and @morethanmylife93 Thank you! <3 Sorry for not getting to this sooner. Yesterday was crazy busy and this is the first time I’ve been able to get to my laptop. (Sidenote: this is my first time on the desktop version since it was updated, and all I can say is yikes)
Nickname(s): Mostly Em. Occasionally Emiline or Princess. And when I was younger my mom used to call me Emmers. (I told that to my uncle once though and he found it funny so now we have a whole Emmers/Danners thing going on)
Zodiac sign: Capricorn
Height: 5′6
Last movie I saw: In theaters, I think it was Bohemian Rhapsody, which honestly makes me sad because that was early November and I love seeing movies in theaters. Otherwise, I’m watching The Princess Diaries 2 right now.
Last thing I googled: Chris Pine or Chris Pine dad. Like I said, I’m watching The Princess Diaries 2 now and my mom wanted to know how old Chris Pine is. Also, I recently learned his dad is an actor too and we were showing my dad a picture of him because he would’ve known the guy from the show Chips.
Favorite musician: I don’t know. I like such a wide variety of songs, genres, and artists (and on top of that I am incredibly indecisive) so I don’t think I could ever pick just one. It’s one of the same reasons why I never end up going to any concerts, because I don’t know who I’d go see.
Song stuck in my head: "Rewrite the Stars” from The Greatest Showman. I just saw an Eleanor x Chidi edit from The Good Place that used this song. But any other time I usually have so many songs stuck in my head throughout the day. Once I even started making lists to keep track. That was interesting to say the least.
Other blogs: Nope. This one is just a mess of everything lol
Following now: 303 blogs (which I could probably cut down on if I ever went through and unfollowed ones from like OUAT that I don’t really blog about anymore or ones that just don’t post anything anymore)
Followers: 359 (and you are all very appreciated for putting up with the madness, especially when it’s all coming at you without any queues lol)
Amount of sleep I get: Not enough lol. On days I work, I think the most I ever get is like 6 hours, but usually less. I can normally make up for that on the weekends though when even if I go to bed super late, I can sleep in anywhere from 10am to noon.
Lucky numbers: My favorite numbers are 9, 7, 3, and 1. And I usually like combinations involving those numbers too.
What I’m wearing: My pajamas (at 2:45pm, no judging). So that would be a light orange tank under a long sleeve black shirt with plaid bottoms that are mostly white with light orange, light pink, hot pink, and black/dark gray stripes.
Dream job: Ideally, I’d love to live in a world where I’m not required to work and make money to get by, but I know the day where I don’t need a job will never come. But in my wildest dreams, I would want to be a writer or screenwriter of some sort. Just something where I get to tell stories and can hopefully make a difference in some way.
Dream trip: I love to travel so there’s so many places I’d love to see, but there are a few that come to mind. I live in the US, so nationally I’d still like to get to California, Hawaii, and New Orleans (thanks to The Originals) some day. Internationally, I’d love to go to Australia and Greece (it’s beautiful, I love their mythology, and of course Mamma Mia).
Favorite food: Ice cream, more specifically cookie dough ice cream. I also really love pasta.
Instruments: I used to play the clarinet back in middle school, junior high, and high school band.
Languages: English and Spanish
Favorite songs: I could never decide. See my response above for favorite musician.
Random fact: Umm...how about even though I am right-handed, I can only snap with my left hand. So if you ever see me double-snapping (like West Side Story-style), it’s actually a lie because my right hand isn’t really making any sound lol
Aesthetic: Organized chaos. Collections of pens, books, and notebooks that are waiting to be filled. Late nights enjoying the peace and quiet, alone time, and no expectations. Sleeping in late, waking up and just sitting on the living room couch, wrapped in a warm blanket, eating a big bowl of cereal and watching TV. Walking through new (to me) big cities and being reminded of how big the world really is. Music always playing. Dancing around without a care who is watching. Flip flops or tall boots (weather-dependent), jeggings, sweatshirts/jackets where you don’t need to pick any other shirts to wear under them. Long hair being worn down (on good hair days) or in braids on others.

Epic Movie (Re)Watch #186 - The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement
Spoilers Below
Have I seen it before: Yes
Did I like it then: I think so.
Do I remember it: Better than I did the 1st one, which isn’t saying much.
Did I see it in theaters: No
Format: Blu-ray
I nominated the recap for the first Princess Diaries to @princessofsunnydale because she nominated it for my (Re)Watch so I thought I’d do the same for this post. Thanks!
1) I think it was a wildly smart decision to move the setting of this film from San Francisco to Mia’s often spoke of but rarely seen dominion of Genovia. It’s an organic next step to her story. We saw her learn how to be a princess in San Fran, now we see how she actually adapts to her home country (which is a lively character in its own right). The decision to jump ahead five years ahead instead of three (the number of years between releases) I think also is nice. Mia is more comfortable in the agency she gained in the first film, the relationship with her beau Michael is not hanging over her head, it just allows the film to not be dogged down by some plot points from the first film.
2) Sir Fat Louie? Did they knight him? Can you knight a cat?
3) I didn’t remember this line before I put in the movie but I do now.
4) Shonda Rhimes co-authored the story AND wrote the screenplay? Huh.
(I don’t actually watch any Shonda Rhimes shows, now that I think about it.)
5) Chris Pine as Nicholas.
There is a strong initial chemistry Pine has with lead actress Hathaway, allowing the audience to grow invested in their relationship quickly. Even/especially when they’re not getting long, you can just fell the sexual chemistry in the air between them. It’s fun, making the film stronger because of it.
Chris Pine on his own is as charismatic and interesting as ever. In lesser hands the character of Nicholas could be an even bigger jerk and while there are antagonistic qualities to him the audience UNDERSTANDS his motivations. He is trying to honor what he believes his dead father wanted, he believes he’s trying to do what’s best for Genovia. And when he sees he was mistaken, he tries to step aside. There’s a nice honesty to Pine’s performance. He doesn’t play Nicholas as an over the top mustache twirling villain. All in all, Pine does a fine job in this film and helps support it.
6) Except for one black guy, Genovia’s parliament is made up of all white guys saying they don’t want a woman to rule unless she has a man by her side.
I think Queen Clarisse has the perfect response to that.
The law is severely sexist and antiquated. One of the members of parliament claims it should be respected because it is 300 years old. Saying a law is that old is not an effective argument for it as much as it is AGAINST it. 300 years ago in 2004 that’s 1704. That’s slavery, that’s a fundamental lack of women’s rights across most countries. Don’t use the fact a law is old to argue for it. Laws should evolve as the world does.
7) John Rhys Davies is a wonderful character actor who plays Nicholas’ uncle as a holier than thou elitist arrogant jerk. I love to hate him in this, but I might need to watch Lord of the Rings or Raiders of the Lost Ark next to balance out my feelings.
8) Hey guys. Remember that time Catwoman stomped on Captain Kirk’s foot in front of Gimli and Mary Poppins?
I’m sure someone has made this joke before, but still.
9) The last film was largely about Clarisse putting her duty as queen aside to be Mia’s grandmother, a relationship which is as strong in this film as ever.
Clarisse [after Mia stomped on Nicholas’ foot]: “As a grandma I say right on.”
10) Like the first film, this movie’s biggest flaw is definitely pacing. Many scenes serve no purpose for the larger plot and instead distract from the main conflict. But - like with the first film - these scenes are also some of the most memorable. So…I’m not sure what to say then. I’m just going to move on.
11) I dig this.
Matarazzo is a continued treat in this film as she was in the first, stealing a number of scenes and infusing some quality humor into the plot. The way she mixes with Genovian life and culture can lead to some nice fish out of water observations, and Matarazzo plays the role with as much commitment and heart as she did in the first film. God bless Lily.
12) The bachelor selection scene is - by far - one of my favorite moments in the film. It is directly related to the plot and has an incredible amount of humor to it. Also, it’s not nearly as long as I remember.
youtube
For those of you who didn’t watch the clip above (or even if you did), here is my favorite moment from the scene.
(GIFs originally posted by @ezrajamessharkington)
I mean it’s small, but I appreciate that both this film and its predecessor acknowledge the LGBTQIA+ community more than other Disney films did at the time.
13) Callum Blue as Andrew Jacoby.
Much like Michael from the first film, Andrew is able to be a good guy while avoiding the trope of Nice Guy™. There is a respect he has for Mia, an understanding and a fondness. They clearly have a connection and appreciate each other’s company, but it is clear that neither of them love each other. And Andrew does not force this on Mia. He’s pretty much at her service, ready to respect her wishes without being a total pushover. He’s a good guy, someone who could have easily been a jerk or a bully but the fact Mia could plausibly end up with him just ups the stakes.
14) The fan scene is a nice moment of chemistry between Hathaway and Andrews, which (much like in the preceding film) is one of the strongest elements of this movie.
this film one of those moments is when she is reduced to tears because John Rhys Davies spooked her horse and revealed that - SHOCKER - women actually prefer to not ride side saddle. I suppose it’s better that she’s too hard on herself than not hard enough though, as she will be queen.
16) Damn, Joe is a badass.
Mabrey: “Sir, you will find that the word ‘fear’ is not in my vocabulary.”
Joe: “Perhaps. But it’s in your eyes.”
17) Hey look! The foot pop!
18) Okay, Nicholas is being creepy with Mia at the fountain. Yes, they kiss. But then she says no to him. Multiple times, too. Yet he keeps groping at her and chasing her around the fountain until they both fall in. And MIA’S in trouble?
19) The parade.
youtube
By far the strongest moment in the film. It shows off not only the agency Mia gained in the first film (she has the confidence to stop a parade), but also her incredible heart. She shows off such kindness and care for the people of Genovia, accepts her role as a leader, and is able to create a positive change through the sheer depth of her heart. Also, little Abigail Breslin is very cute.
20) Holy crap, Paul Williams is in this movie.
What is this movie?
21) The bridal slumber party is another scene which doesn’t really add to the plot and it goes a little long. BUT - again - it is wildly memorable. Especially seeing Julie Andrews surf on a mattress after giving a wink to her most iconic character.
22) Julie Andrews’ song.
youtube
Julie Andrews underwent surgery in 1997 to treat what she referred to as a muscular striation on her vocal cords. She emerged from the surgery with permanent damage that hurt her singing voice and gave a rasp to her speaking voice (for which she sued the hospital for malpractice two years later). Julie Andrews basically lost her singing voice. Her song “Your Crowning Glory” was the first time she sang on screen since the surgery. Although it was set in a limited range to accommodate her voice, she was reported to have nailed it on the first take and brought tears to the eyes of crew members on set. Raven Symoné - who duets with Andrews on the song - was so moved when she told she’d be singing with the legend that she too was reportedly brought to tears. If for no other reason, I am grateful this movie exists for all of that.
23) Nicholas is very ready to step aside and let Mia rule.
Nicholas [after his uncle notes all their work would be for nothing]: “It wouldn’t be nothing. Genovia would in good hands.”
I love that. I love that he’s true to his beliefs about doing what’s right for Genovia, NOT himself.
24) So there’s a slight bit of foreshadowing here.
Nicholas [at Mia’s window]: “Rapunzel, Rapunzel…”
Chris Pine would later go on to play Cinderella’s Prince in the 2014 film adaptation of Into the Woods, which also featured the characters of Rapunzel and her prince.
25) I’m surprised Paolo’s back. I mean, Larry Miller is great. But didn’t he totally betray the trust of the royal family in the first film? And also, why is he suddenly kinda bad at styling Mia?
26) Bless whoever made this
(I just found this on google. If this is your’s and you want credit let me know and I’ll be happy to give it.)
27) Um, guys…
What the heck is Stan Lee doing in The Princess Diaries 2? Is Mia going to join The Avengers? Is Genovia a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? What is happening!?
All humor aside, as I understand it Stan Lee will cameo in any movie asked as long as he gets his standard fee. I think he wants to have the record for most cameos ever.
28) I dig it, Andrew.
Andrew [after Mia calls off the wedding]: “Uh…thank you. Thank you for saving me from doing the proper thing for once in my life.”
29) Much like the first film, it is Mia who must take her own fate in her hands. She’s the one who argues against the marriage law, she’s the one who convinces the people and parliament to strike it down (although the Prime Minister is again incredibly supportive and I love that). It’s her taking charge of her life, which I think is absolutely great.
30) I 100% forgot that part of this film ended with Clarisse and Joe getting married. I am very okay with that.
31) OH MY GOD YES! PARLIAMENT IS MORE DIVERSE AT THE END! THERE ARE SO MANY WOMEN AND EVEN WOMEN OF COLOR AND IT’S JUST BEAUTIFUL AND DIVERSE AND I NEED MORE OF IT! THANK YOU!
Like the first film, The Princess Diaries 2 held up surprisingly better than I was expecting. Obviously it’s aimed at a younger audience than me but it was pretty enjoyable. Anne Hathaway is strong as ever, as is Julie Andrews, while Chris Pine is a welcome and fitting addition to the cast. The themes are nicely feminist as is the ending. Overall I just find it an enjoyable film worth the watch.

1, 3, 7, 12 and 14 for the film asks
what’s the most depressing movie you’ve ever watched?
the last song. it was the first nicholas sparks film i ever watched (i was ten and just watching it for miley cyrus, lol) so i didn’t know what to expect. i didn’t exactly cry while watching it but i was in this perpetual state of numb-/sadness for the rest of the day afterwards.
an actor/actress you’ve seen in more than 8 movies? name the movies.
there’s probably several actors/actresses i’ve seen in a ton of things, but i think i’ve actually seen chris pine in the most movies??? (for obvious reasons, lol - though some i watched before i even had a crush on him)
1. princess diaries 22. just my luck3. star trek4. star trek: into darkness5. rise of the guardians6. horrible bosses 27. into the woods8. wonder woman
(this list will probably extend past 8 movies soon enough, since i’ll 100% be seeing a wrinkle in time when it comes out. but this means war and people like us have been on my to-watch list for a while now. plus the finest hours probably deserves another try…..)
(oh, and if he returns for wonder woman 2 and/or cameos in justice league, of course, then those will go on the list too ;) )
a film you wish had a sequel?
there are so many, i’m just gonna have to make a list here too. (most of these probably won’t even be films i talk about here, but i love and mostly gush about on my other blog.)
1. the man from u.n.c.l.e.2. the nice guys3. rise of the guardians4. minority report (tv sequel was great but short-lived, and didn’t have enough john anderton - well, none, actually)5. beauty and the beast (2017) (bc i’m trash and luke evans’ gaston needs to live, dammit!)
i thought there’d be a lot more but i’ll think of more soon enough, i’m sure of it
a movie that holds a special place in your heart?
mrs. doubtfire. it’s the first on a short list of films everyone in my immediate family loves, and it’s a movie i really can never get tired off. really, the jokes seem to get funnier the more i watch the film (and the older i get - i probably first watched the movie when i was, i dunno, four? five? (censored, of course) and a lot of the jokes went over my head, so now i get them and they’re hilarious). also, it’s bittersweet watching the movie now since robin’s gone. i watched the film so much when i was younger that he almost really felt like a family member to me, so watching the film feels like going back to visit my favorite uncle. (or, now, reliving the memories of him.)
a music video you would love to see developed into a film?
i’ve never been a big music video fan, i just don’t watch them all that often, i’ve never quite seen the point of them. this one’s a toughy…
bc i can’t really think of older ones, i guess i’ll go with ed sheeran’s “shape of you” for now???? i just really liked the story it told, and how it basically looked like rocky condensed to a three-minute video (with a comedic plot twist at the end). i really can’t think of any others, sorry!
movie asks
#geek from nowhere#replies#aside from that last question being a toughy this was fun#send me more lol

( reposted from my about page in a reblogabble form w/ formatting changes. if you find the formatted version visually difficult or irritating to read, the unformatted version is on nicholas’s about page! this & nicholas’s page will be updated as i learn more things about my muse. )
nicholas wright was born nicholas james beaumont-wright, duke of lyonesse*, on october 1, 1983 to edward beaumont & jane beaumont (née wright). his parents passed away in a tragic accident when he was six years old, & he was sent to live with his uncle reynard, aunt marisol, & their three daughters. as the eldest boy in the household, nicholas grew very close to his uncle. reynard even treated him as his own son. however, reynard tended to be harsh & demanding at times, which is what distanced nicholas from him when he was older. growing up, nicholas was very quiet & well-behaved. he kept to himself most of the time & had a few close friends. most of his free time was spent reading & writing stories, despite his uncle’s detestation. he thought nicholas’ time would be better spent in reality. after nicholas’ twenty-first birthday, reynard declared in the privy council of lyonesse that nicholas had a claim to the throne, as he was twenty-one & a descendant of the royal family. the privy council was not convinced that the young man was capable of ruling the country, so they allowed him two months to show them the kind of ruler he would be. at the same time, another heir to the throne was revealed. a young woman only a few months younger than nicholas was also distantly related to the royal family.** she had grown up much poorer than the beaumonts, & she had no experience in politics. but many of the people of lyonesse supported her. they believed she represented the common person, & they did not approve of reynard beaumont or his political beliefs. much to reynard’s protestations, she was granted two months to convince the council of her competence as well. during those two months, reynard pushed nicholas to pursue the young woman in the hopes of distracting her from the true goal. nicholas agreed, but he was wary & unsure of how he would ever manage to do that. along the way, he fell in love with her, & believing that he wouldn’t make a suitable king, he removed himself from the equation. in the end, she became the queen of lyonesse. unable to tolerate his uncle’s anger & suffocating control over his life any longer, nicholas left lyonesse & moved to the united states. prior to this whole ordeal, he had graduated from oxford with a degree in english language & literature. once he arrived in the us, he enrolled at the teachers college of columbia university in new york to pursue a degree in education. upon completion of the degree, he began working in various high schools in new york city under the name nicholas wright. after bouncing around between schools every few years, he was offered a job at a school that he adores. now, he can be found there, teaching the best & brightest students what he loves: literature & writing. however, he is currently looking into earning a ph.d. so that he can teach at the university level. — *the name lyonesse is taken from arthurian legends because i love french, arthurian legends, & i needed a name for a small country. **if you haven’t guessed yet, this is loosely based on the princess diaries 2: the royal engagement because i love chris pine & anne hathaway. the marriage plot has been revised so that it isn’t too similar to the film.
