you're fine i didn't have art to post so i didn't log in for a few days. uhhhhhh SwatchThoughts(tm):

they're the head butler ofc, but they're also queen's right-hand-man (gender neutral), her #1 bestie. they know everything about her, even about lancer before the events of ch2. they will literally do anything she asks and anything that will entertain her. it's tiring and they do complain sometimes but they enjoy their work, they know what a kind person she really is and that she's generally a good ruler, so they like to make her happy :)

weirdly competitive. nobody beats them in queen's monthly fruit-smashing competition and if you somehow do, they're a good sport but You Will Not Win Next Month. You Won't.

workaholic. oh god they wear so many hats in the mansion and they're so tired all the time, it's a miracle they get everything done

the color cafe is a regular butler cafe up front and a host club in the back. a handful of the birds, including swatch, can be paid (at quite high rates, swatch especially) to join you for drinks or sweets, flirt with you, cuddle - p much have a sweet and lightly romantic time. you would not believe how much money spamton dumped into the host club back in the day. their undisputed #1 customer even 20 years later

i generally view them as very asexual (demi specifically. + nonbinary) but they still love their host work! it's fun, they like making people happy and playing at being a romantic. and the sweets. they like the sweets just as much 🍰

they are the tallest swatchling, at 9 feet tall. Beast. good for carrying queen on their broad shoulders though!

they adore their birds. they spawned each and every single one of them (the ones in their own flock that work for queen, anyway), they know all their names even when everyone's the same color and they remember what's going on in their lives. which is impressive when there's at least a couple hundred of them ;;;

as an art program they not only create things for lightners but also for queen ! they design a lot of things for her with her input, and with as quickly as they can draw things directly into the dark world they're always working on things for her, while dressing up their cafe for themed events in-between.

Wait a minute... Undyne doesn’t believe Kris when they try to tell her about the Dark World and laughs in their face so hard that she breaks her desk. So they do something to lure the police over to their house by slashing the tires, then make a Dark World themself after learning from Queen that it might be possible for any Lightner to do so. And they did it before the police get there so that they’ll stumble into it.

I always found the gap of time between Toriel calling the police and her falling asleep before they get there odd as it’s a little town so it shouldn’t take that long, and it doesn’t seem as if they came before she fell asleep. Could be busy trying to recatch all those dogs. Maybe Kris is aware that Toriel falls asleep quickly while reading, they even opened the door so that the police could come in. One hole in this idea is, how would they know that Susie would pass out fast too? Might not have been part of the plan but an opportunity they took.

Not sure why they turned on the TV to static, possibly to give the new Dark World something to latch onto as regular living room furniture might not be enough. (Now that I’m thinking about it, all the items that have turned into characters so far are things that children and people touch and interact with using their imagination, like toys, computers, and TVs.)

Is this all to show Undyne and others that something dangerous is happening so they’ll be believed? I’m like, 90% sure that Kris is not The Knight and their intentions aren’t bad.

PLEASE i found this one by COMPLETE accident (as per usual with the 20+ others i have saved……) but it only takes 43 seconds and 26 words for me to LOSE MY MIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT ONLY WITH THE TITLE BEING COMPUTER THEMED, BUT…..BUT…… SNIGFFLE………. comparatively? he will NEVER have a life like a lightner, at least from a freedom perspective… he can never break his strings because those STRINGS (OF CODE!!!) are what MAKE him.. Without them… he is not him.. it is the entire BASIS of his being, he quite literally would know nothing else because he IS nothing else without them, but, not only that, it is LIT. ER. ALLY. INGRAINED INTO HIS CODE. BECAUSE IT /IS/ HIS CODE…It influences his every action, his every word, his every thought, even if its not something he WANTS to think…..what can he do..? and its WORSE than it was before /especially/ because he is for SURE corrupted and that code defo does not function the same way its supposed to, most definitely more imposing and a little more than just "influencing" his actions and thoughts… he doesnt WANT TO, it prevents him from being who he /wants/ to be……… please……….waugh………. it DESTROYS him, mentally, but, maybe also physically…. his code is so unstable and always shifting, and then reshaping itself, again. and again. and again. and again. its fixing itself, to an extent, but AT WHAT COST?

MORE deltarune spoilers because i just finished playing from ch1-2 on a complete save file

ok so first things first:

1. spamton: i thought about it, looked around some more, and yknow how the butler in the queen's mansion cafe (after the fight) talks about how he built that body for a lightner? im pretty sure the lightner in question is mettaton. or, the ghost that Becomes mettaton. with spamtons final form being "spamton neo", the resemblance to mettaton neo in the geno route of undertale, and mettaton still being a ghost in deltarune, im pretty sure that mettaton had wished for a body like that, and the darkner running the cafe answered that wish by making the machine found in the basement.

2. onion-san: after two years, i finally heard onion-san's secret. or, both secrets, actually lol. so apparently onion-san has been hearing part of a song coming from deep under the water, and thinks that they'd heard the entire song before, out deep in the ocean. explicitly says that it's not a new song. they then say theyre going to investigate more and to come back tomorrow (ch3) to hear what else they'd found out. i have two theories about this, one, being that the song that onion-san is hearing is from the humans, and two, that the song is from the darkners.

the human theory is something ive been thinking on since i started replaying deltarune. im pretty sure this world is a timeline where the humans lost the war mentioned in the intro to undertale, and were sealed underground instead of the monsters as a result. the bunker is possibly the entrance to the underground, and kris somehow got out. kris's dialogue about humans seems to imply something dark, with the book about humans on the top floor of the library (accessible in ch2) having "pictures of unfamiliar humans", to which kris immediately slams the book shut. snowy and monsterkid, in ch2, down at the bunker mention that kris knows something about the bunker, and that whatever is in there is scary. this could be another entrance to the dark world (now that we know kris can open them as the knight) but it could also be the underground, where all the humans have been sealed inside of. humans also seem to be relatively unknown and somewhat of mythological creatures, with movies being made about them, and one of the npcs in the apartments asking questions to kris about if their blood hurts/where skeletons come from if humans have them inside of them.

the darkner theory is less thought out on my part, but still possible. the further underwater you go, the darker it gets. its possible that there might be an entrance to the dark world underwater, or maybe the dark world is simply part of the real world, and just unknown/hidden away. this could also tie into the bunker possibly being an entrance to the dark world, and might be the "true" entrance, but its been locked and so the worlds are separated. in ch1, (if i remember correctly) seam and the king mention how the lightners locked them away, and that the dark world wasnt always like this. ralsei also mentions that the lightners and darkners used to live side by side, almost symbiotically, with the lightners giving the darkners purpose and the darkners helping the lightners fulfill their journeys/wishes. if kris knows about it, its possible this isnt kris's first adventure in the dark world, and probably was alone the first time. i can see how that would be terrifying for anyone, let alone a child. kris probably locked the bunker so that no one else would get stuck in there/none of the darkners would come out. it could also possibly be that the "true"/"real" kris wants to release the darkners, but us as the player sealed the bunker somehow, hence why kris keeps removing our control and opening new fountains. there isnt as much to go off of with this theory as the human theory, but i think theyre both possible.

3. ok enough lore talk i have to mention it. THE DUCK. in ch1 when you make the thrash machine you can make a duck, and it sucks, and susie and lancer blow it up. the end. BUT IN CH2, ROUXLS KAARD BRINGS THE THRASH MACHINE BACK AS A BOAT. and if you played through from ch1-2 and got to customize the machine/make it into a duck, theres different text!

AND. to make matters even better, when you fight giga-queen at the end of ch2, and the thrash machine is modified into a mecha for you to fight her in, you ALSO get a special ability if your thrash machine was a duck! i forgot to grab a screenshot, but its similar to the standard laser upgrade in the act menu, except it (supposedly) sucks. i did notice that the duck version, in addition to attacking, also heals you when you activate it? which is great. all in all, i suggest playing from ch1 so that you can get the duck thrash machine. 10/10

4. the saddest news, papyrus: even if you tell sans you'll hang out with his brother tomorrow in ch1, you still cant meet papyrus in ch2. sans says to come back when asriel comes back to town (which is a whole can of worms, because sans shouldnt know asriel yet since hes new in town. unless toriel blabbed about him while fucking befriending him) which will probably be chapter 6/7 :( i miss papyrus so much im very sad about this.

i think thats it, but then again theres so much that hasnt been explored yet. this is just my thoughts/stuff ive encountered in my playthrough. very hyped for ch3 sjkdgfksdhfhj

A while ago i had an idea for like some eitch's heart au ish kinda thing? Where i make designs for what the witchs heart cast would look like in the dark world basically and rhen draw them interacting anyways heres some basic ideas for designs and also just some rambly notes

Claire would be like Kris and Noel would be like Ralsei- if i ever make it a proper au thatd be their roles probably.

My fanon design of Claire hss her bow shaped more like a butterfly so i like to imagine that her bow would become an actual buttefly upon entering the dark world- she would go in with her shorts and tank top and then her dark world form would have like a dress kinda like her formal dress ingame but more butterflyish themed i guess- idk what her attacks/weapon would be- maybe her design could also be kinda princess like to parallel Noel's

Noel has thisnlike magician princey kinda outfit- i cant get a good color scheme down but itd also have some star themes- i oriiginally had it like he wore a tophat and on the rim of the tophat was a croen but i couldn probably just have it so he has the ribbon studded with jewelw- He is a magician! So kind of like deltarune Noelle he has an attack spell and a healing spell probaly- and his weapon is an actual wand! Like not a haryr potter wand but the kind of a wand a magician at like a kids birthday party would use- idk if i should give him a more blue colorscheme like stars and stuff or a more red one with yellow eyes like his monster form

I don't have many ideas for ashe's design but! He definitely would have glasses or something kind of spamton themed becuase- because he wants claires heart shaped object. Im sorry- I gave ashe this big coat so he kind of looks like grsvity falls ford ig- thats what he reminds me of the design mpbut ill remake jt- i definitely could do something fun with the scapels but idrk what he would use them as a weapon in some way for sure though

i could make the spamton gag with wilardo too tbh but ashe is more outwardky batshit crazy about it when he gets it like ashe is so dramatic and insane about it and wilardos also dramatic about it but not as much as ashe and i think that fits spamton more

I'm not quite sure what to do with wilardo's design- the onky idea i had with him was to make him into a ninja with a gun- maybe his gun could be a plasma gun /j

Okay something just hit me about Kris and Ralsei which might explain why Kris has a low opinion of Ralsei, so hear me out

Kris and Ralsei, while being really different, are similar in one key way, their lack of agency. Kris’ loss of bodily autonomy is central to their character arc, and Ralsei fully believes his only purpose is to serve Lightners, and also cannot perform his own actions until Susie gets him to it by force. Moreover, Kris and Ralsei are very much tied to the player, and both are meta-aware to some extent. So we’ve established, they’re both very similar in this regard.

Where Kris and Ralsei differ however, is how they react to player. Kris is outwardly shown to resent the player, tearing away from their control at the end of the day in order to experience some freedom. Ralsei is the complete opposite however. I think due to already having beliefs about having to serve, mixed with being a self-aware entity, Ralsei becomes a servant to the player, and his loyalty to Kris, is actually just him being attached to the player.

AND SO, Kris and Ralsei’s contrasting feelings and actions towards the player is exactly why Kris hates Ralsei, or at least doesn’t think very highly of him. I’m sure that Kris views Ralsei as some sort of minion for the player, who’s there to keep them in their place. And while Ralsei may be aware of the soul controlling Kris, his naivety may lead him to believe that this is genuinely what needs to be done for either the sake of the prophecy, or this is whats good for Kris, or simply that he doesn’t want to shake the status quo. Remember Ralsei isn’t directly aware that this may be hurting Kris (in fact no one is), as the two soul ripping segments happen in the Light World.

This all isn’t to say that Ralsei doesn’t care about Kris. He seems to genuinely want friends, as proven with how he interacts with Susie. And he seems to authentically care for Kris, as when he tried to calm them down after the Spamton NEO. While yes, I admit his dialogue is very suspicious, it is possible he may be as confused as Kris, or maybe he himself doesn’t want to think about it too hard due to how it might affect his own beliefs.

how do we know kris and the knight are the same entity? how do we know it's kris who tears the soul out? and, if neither of those other two have concrete answers, when is it shown that kris dislikes the player*? also???? when is kris ever shown to not like ralsei? like i dont really.. recall any part or the game that implies this?? i'm not really searching all that hard or at all but i genuinely like. dont recall and would like to know.

*With the exception of checking the mirror in chapter 2, i don't really recall any active resentment towards the player. i don't mean to dunk on the theory cause if i was i'd probably do a lot more searching and maybe replay the game as well; i'm just saying where you see deeper meta meaning i see "creepy and cringe fortnite player, lesbian who talks big shit but couldn't run more than 20 feet before passing out, and lonely fluffy boy who keeps secrets and likes to look pretty all go on a funny adventure to save the world (maybe). also the cringe one has some weird shit going on." i mean you're probably right but. yknow.

also completely unrelated -- ralsei even actively tells kris that the heart is THEIR soul. like yeah we control it but like. it's kris's soul. it's not like flowey where he may be addressing the player; ralsei specifically says "See that Heart, Kris? That is your SOUL..." then again, ralsei is definitely hiding shit so taking his word for it may be a bad idea and also it has next to no relevance to what im saying but i just figured i'd point that out.

Also i dont feel like kris slashed their moms tires just for the sake of it. That entire last sequence seemed incredibly calculated. Kris knows their mom wont let Susie walk home by herself and would want to drive her, so they slashed the tires on the car, knowing toriel would go out for the sugar, see the slashed tires, and be both unable to drive susie home and too scared from the act to want to risk walking. Kris slashed the tires to force their mom to let susie sleep over.

For what reason is the question, but i suspect it was part of the plan to open a fountain in the middle of their living room, which i think itself might be part of a plan to create a darkworld based off their home so they can take some amount of control to fix some of the problems in their life (which is why kris needed to rip out their soul to do these things - they need to be able to do specific things to make the plan work and cant risk the player jeopardizing the whole thing by not doing what they want to do when they need to do it). Ive noticed that the theme of "your choices dont matter" only seems to be true in the lightner world. No matter what you do, the events in the overworld will always be the same. But this doesnt hold up in the darkner world. Ralsie repeatedly tells kris/player that their choices matter and in the darkner world the way you play actually does have consequences. And i think kris noticed this and is trying to take advantage if it to their own benefit

Kris seems very much not able to rip their soul out on the fly - every time theyve done it, it seems to have been planned ahead (kris specifically let susie wash her hands first so no one would need to come in the bathroom, for example) and done for a specific purpose, and if kris -were- able to do it on the fly, their reaction to spamton makes me think they would have done it to stop the player from interacting with him. So i think it can be assumed that any time kris rips their soul out to break free of the players control, its going to either be part of a larger, overarching plan for something thats extremely important to them, or to do some independent thing thats equally important to them (im still not sure if what kris did on the first night was open the fountain in the library or JUST eating the pie. From what ive heard from all the townspeople, either seems likely for kris's character, and it seems very possible that kris is not the one who opened the other two wells, but got the idea for it from cyberworld, when queen explained that any lightner can do it).

So yeah, tldr, i dont think kris is the kind of person to just go around slashing tires for the hell of it, it seems more like it was a necessary evil for them to get the people they care about in one place for their master plan, whatever that may be

Deltarune spoilers: Before playing I saw your "kris/frisk/chara are not you" tags and I was fully like "yeah this tracks" but after finishing the game I just. Am wondering if it's THREE people, us kris, and another, or if it our actions ARE what kris 'wants' to do and the heart ripping out is the external force?? I know it could be the other way around but I just. Was hoping that Kris probably isn't into slashing their mom's tires?

i think given some important character-defining text in chapter two, we can safely say the Player’s choices are NOT kris’s. for example, as early as chapter 1, if you try to make kris throw away what the Player perceives as “a ball of junk”, kris is very reluctant and retrieves it, and grows more upset if you keep forcing them until they give up and go quiet. in the beginning of chapter two, the Player can steal money from Asriel’s dresser and kris DOES NOT want to do that and expresses guilt.

there are many points where other characters point out the discrepancy in what the Player has kris say versus how kris says it. for example, if you choose “join” during an early berdly encounter after he says kris will wash toilets, berdly comments on how reluctant kris says it. if you choose “perish” during one of the dialogues with the Queen, she is taken aback by how enthusiastically kris says they want to perish.

everything with the spamton encounters reveals a lot too. kris does NOT want to interact with spamton and does NOT want to expose susie and ralsei to him either. kris is, to their party members, visibly shaken up and distressed by spamton. when you unlock his shop, kris goes in alone, and the RUN AWAY option takes up 80% of the menu screen cuz they are terrified.

when you do the secret boss encounter and win and leave the area, kris is having a panic attack which susie and ralsei can see (mentions they’re covered in goosebumps). they ask if kris is okay. the Player can choose “yes” or “no”. choosing yes results in susie remarking that she doesn’t believe kris when they say it so strained. if you choose no, kris screams it.

if you mess with noelle with some of the puzzles, particularly the one with a lazer fence, she eventually messes with kris back. but then immediately expresses confusion and concern because kris looks hurt. kris does not want to bully her at all.

there’s also the various details in the multiple customized rooms kris gets that reveal more and more about who they are as an individual. signs point towards the choices you make while playing are not kris, but the way kris performs those actions speaks multitudes to their character.
