good god this is wild. also to whomever this post is about, your partner has communicated something very important to them (i relate, having breakfast together is also important to me) so just put the phone down for a bit and be present with them. My partner and I read fanfic too, often at the same time in bed or on the couch, but when we are watching a favorite show or just feeling a little ignored - we tell each other this and immediately recognize the other's feelings and pay more attention. We have been together for a year and a half and this still happens at least once a week. There's no animosity towards this, it's literally just, "hey, can you put your phone down? This is one of my favorite shows and it means a lot to me that we watch it together" "Oop, sorry, i was just checking something." And boom all is well. It may seem like something small and insignificant, but life is just a compilation of small moments that actually mean everything
