Okay we all agree that in the "good" universe Jayce goes on his house arrest but still meets Viktor and they go out and date and eventually end up together. and then Viktor goes on to become a professor and Jayce takes over the hammer business and also takes up making mobility aids and medical devices to help better lives (because magic is not the only way to do so.)
and they're doing pretty okay for themselves.

GOSH I hate Melody so fucking much.
It's just. Everything about her, you know? She makes me sick. What the fuck's with her hair? Why would someone dye it so confusingly? WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS
Tumblr media
THOSE RED LINES?? THEY AREN'T THERE TO REPRESENT HAIR STRANDS. OH, NO. THEY ARE THERE BECAUSE THEY ARE DYED FLOCKS. FLOCKS THAT SHE HERSELF DECIDED TO DYE BECAUSE... OKAY, I DON'T KNOW WHY SHE DID THAT (yes, I do, but SHHH I'm trying to hate on her here). HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW HOW EXACTLY TO DRAW HER HAIR?? HUH?? IT'S CONFUSING. IT'S MORE CONFUSING THAN MATH CLASS THAT'S HOW CONFUSING IT IS TO DRAW.
Next up: Her makeup. I'm still learning how to put makeup on myself and you expect me to know how to paint this woman's face believably? Do you have any idea of how much I struggle to paint her lips whenever I'm coloring a drawing that features HER of all characters? OHH AND THE EYES?? HAHAAA... nope. Too much work. I'm covering her eyeshadow with her hair.
Scars. I'm TIRED of having to pick a gazillion of shades of red whenever I've got to paint her scars. They're tiring to paint. Why are they even there in the first place? Who the fuck decides it's a good idea to injure themselves on stage and why hasn't she died during a concert yet. I'm too kind for letting her live up to the age of 37. She shouldn't. HOW IS SHE STILL ALLOWED ANYWHERE ANYWAY
.
For the story I guess¿¿
Back to hating, I'm gonna talk about her personality now.
She's an asshole. Period. She's arrogant, unnecessarily mean, hot-headed, and sickeningly self-centered. She's also the kind of person to use pet names towards everybody she talks to, which would be alright if we weren't talking about Melody. Cause she sucks.
Make a teeny tiny mistake during a performance and you're sure to be yelled at for at least ten minutes straight. Ask Jackie, she knows this pretty well. Learn to accept mistakes goddamnit yelling isn't gonna take anybody anywhere. BUT OF COURSE, SHE WON'T BE ABLE TO BECAUSE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVVVVEERRRRYYYYTHHHINGG'S GOT TO GO SMOOTHLY FOR DEAR OLD MELODY. She should be GLAD there are even people WILLING to play at her side. Her voice isn't even as good as she believes it to be, anyway. There, I said it. Break a chair against my spine, go on. I dare you.
She took a childhood dream and fulfilled it in what's probably the worst way possible. How do you even do that? How do you make playing music with your friends turn into a fucking nightmare for those around you?? Cause nope, pretty much nobody in Smooth Roses enjoys working together as a group. Well, okay, Owen and Gabriel might, but that's it. Jackie and Richard are fed up, though. If there's a reason they're still in the band, that's because they enjoy making music, but even that becomes insufferable with MELODY around.
Melody isn't someone you can communicate with. Communication is the key to a good relationship. Friendship, in this case. But the door to hers has got barricades. She doesn't listen. Ooooohhhhh noooo bold of you to think she'd make the EFFORT to listen to anyone other than herself. NoOOoOo. Pstch. Nahhh of course not! Cause she's Melody and Mel is alllways in the right. Yup. Fucking shoot me. (Of course, there's a lot more depth into this but I'm supposed to hate on Mel, not explain why she acts the way she does so)
THESE AREN'T EVEN EXAGGERATIONS AT ALL (yes, they are)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What else is there to say about her?
OH. RIGHT. The way she puts herself on top of everybody else, as if that were something minimally acceptable to do? Melody, sWeEtHeArT, you're not more important than the cashier who sells you lettuce at the grocery store or the young woman who makes your smoothies at that store next to your home, FFS. Stop pretending like you are. And you're not even as hot as you think you are - is it even okay to want to kiss oneself? Eh.
Oh, also, she won't excuse mistakes from anybody else, but if SHE does something wrong, she must be forgiven because she's the great and awesome Melody Caddel. No matter how much she hurts someone she's supposed to care about, she deserves to be forgiven - sometimes, without having to apologize, even! Cause BOLD OF YOU to think she'd apologize for a mistake. Hah! Oh, hell no, it's Melody we're talking about.
I'm tired of talking about this asshole, so this post ends here. I MIGHT think of writing a sequel to this rant hating on more aspects of her, but so far, this is the end of it. here's a LOT more stuff to hate about her, though.

February — July 2001
"...I thank the Department for three enriching years, I've given all I could, and it's time to test my abilities someplace else." She looked away from the crowd for a moment, Harry's eyes met hers and he smiled encouragingly. "I hope you receive my successor with open arms. Mr Potter is a highly trained Auror— Harry, I wish you the best of luck, I leave the office in your very capable hands."
Harry stepped in. "Thank you, Miss Sultens," he glanced at her with amusement. "I'm honoured..."
Mel knew he was lying, of course. Harry didn't want to be Head Auror, he just wanted to work there because, like her, he'd never stopped to think about what he truly wanted after the war. He accepted willingly, though, and didn't resent her for dropping the responsibility on his shoulders.
Harry could deal with a whole department, he'd led an army, and he'd done her work thousands of times already. Mel listened to his speech anxiously, if she could convince him to retire at a young age she would. Harry deserved a peaceful life, but at the same time, fighting was all he knew. It would take time, but one day he'd be ready to quit his constant state of alert.
Once the crowd dispersed, Ron approached and nudged her arm. "I'll miss you," he admitted, "it was fun being best friends with the boss..."
"Harry's your best friend too?"
"Well, yeah, but we used to share a desk, now he's got his own office and I'll be assigned a new partner," he made a face, "I don't want a new partner."
"Perhaps Harry could make you his second in command?"
"Is that allowed?"
"If he wants to," Mel grinned. "Don't start changing stuff just to benefit you two, though, that's not professional."
"We'll think about it," Ron smirked. "So now what? You have a week to get your things in order and then you'll be in the Department of Mysteries! How do you feel?"
"Like walking in the dark," Mel responded, "I don't know what I'll do, and unfortunately, neither will you, cause I'm not allowed to talk about it outside the office."
"Blimey, that's true!" Ron frowned. "Not even if you write it down?"
"I don't know, King, but it's better not to try," she chortled.
"Hey, you guys want to get lunch?" Harry walked up to them.
"Sure, it's not like I have work to do," Mel grinned.
"That must be nice," Harry smiled at her, casually holding her hand.
"I'm planning to take Reggie for the weekend so I can spend time with him," she said brightly, "can't believe his first school year ended!"
"Erick's also coming back, isn't he?" Ron added. "This was his last year as a teacher... blimey, I hope he didn't break many hearts!"
"Not on purpose, surely, and the students won't miss him that much," Mel smirked, "McGonagall hired Joseph as his replacement."
"What are you guys laughing about?" Hermione caught up with them when they were nearing the entrance.
"Teenagers," Ron said, "I don't miss being one..."
Harry realized that in fact, they were no longer teenagers. Hermione and Ron were twenty-one, and Mel was about to turn the same age in two weeks. He was looking at three young adults, and friend group was no longer the right word, family was.
Tumblr media
"Surrender, Hook, you're surrounded."
"Over my dead body."
"Very well," Regulus lifted the wooden sword. "Let's have it your way."
Mel summoned her own sword from behind her brother and caught it in midair, she got to her feet and pretended to slash his arm.
"Aha! Repent you rascal!"
"Noooo," Reggie fell to his knees and rolled on the mud. "I'm dead! Tell the lost boys my story! Tell them to avenge me!"
Mel looked at him from where she was standing. She frowned and poked his leg with the tip of his foot.
"Peter Pan can't die," she stated.
Regulus stayed on the ground, he opened one eye and whispered his retort. "Why not?"
"Because he's the hero!"
"Then why did you kill me?" He sat up, pouting.
"I was just adding a bit of drama," Mel shrugged, "to make your victory more satisfying."
"That's why I'm dying," he shrugged just like her, "then I can be a lost boy and I'm avenging Peter."
Mel tilted her head. "Why do I like that idea so much?"
Reggie giggled, he had Sirius' smile. "Mum says I'm creative. I read stories to the bowtruckles."
"You help mum with the creatures?" She frowned. "She lets you be around them?"
"Yes," the five-year-old got up and walked up to her, handing her the sword.
"But she doesn't let me!" Mel gaped. "She told me they were dangerous if they're not handled with care!"
"You're squidditch." He stated.
"What?"
"That's what mum says."
Mel took a moment to process. "Squi... do you mean squeamish?"
"I suppose so," Reggie scratched his nose, smearing mud on it, "can I have a biscuit now? I'm hungry."
"I fought a war and yet my mum doesn't trust me with her creatures," she pouted. "I don't mind the creatures, I just hate feeding them maggots!"
"But most of them eat that, Mely."
"How about you feed them while I pat them on the head?"
As if on queue, Grey came running and bumped his head against Mel's legs. Hedwig flew down to the toddler's head and gently landed on top of it, making him chortle, she playfully lowered her beak and caught a few curls, pulling lightly.
"Very well, let's have lunch— Hedwig c'mon," Mel said, the owl flew to the arm the witch was offering to her.
Reggie picked up Grey, who almost immediately purred and nuzzled his face on the boy's cheek.
"Is Harry coming soon?"
"Am I not a good company?"
"I miss Harry."
"You saw him at breakfast," she sighed, "but I miss him too... a little. Don't tell him I said that, though."
"Okay," he stopped at the threshold, "I'll miss you once I'm home, but not right now."
She stroked his hair lovingly, a soft look in her eyes. "Should we visit the Flints later on the day?"
Reggie's eyes brightened. "Yes!"
Tumblr media
"I'm home!"
"We're in the dining room!"
Harry took off his cloak and followed the voices, there he found a lovely scene:
Mel was helping five-year-old Regulus to cut his food while the boy incessantly spoke about his new friends and the things he was learning at school, he had Erick's disc-man on the table and attached to it a pair of headphones, music was blasting out but the kid didn't seem to care about it.
"Hello, Sultens," Harry greeted them.
"Hi, Glasses," his girlfriend smiled, "your dinner's in the oven. Regulus was telling me about this puppy he's been seeing at the pet store..."
"He's black and fluffy!" Reggie said. "Mel says she'll get him f'me!"
"It's the least I can do after taking Grey," she sighed, "I'm sure mum won't mind it, she doesn't keep her magical creatures in the house now that she got her own space at the Scamander's reserve..."
Harry came back with his meal and sat next to the boy.
"Your father could turn into a black dog, did you know that, Reg?"
"Mummy has pictures!"
"He wants his Padfoot."
"I'm sure Sirius would be honoured," Harry smirked.
Regulus pulled Mel's sleeve and she leaned closer, he whispered something and she tried to hide a smile. "D'you want me to go with you?"
"No, I can do it!"
"Alright, but don't play with the tap, be a good boy..." Mel helped him out of his seat and Regulus ran towards the hall, when she noticed Harry's questioning gaze she giggled.
"He needed to pee."
Harry's brow raised in surprise. "He can go on his own now?"
"I learned when I was five too," She got up and grabbed her empty plate. "It was about time, really, he would've learned faster hadn't been because he's so small... kept slipping..." She went away to wash her dishes but continued talking. "Did you hear the news about Ginny? She signed a contract with the Harpies!"
"Really?" Harry looked up from his plate. "That's amazing!"
"She'll be travelling a lot, you know, the world cup and all... we might not see her for a while. I wonder how Luna feels..."
"Luna can go too and Ginny can spend her free time helping her girlfriend search for unknown creatures..."
Mel came back to the room. "Erick paid us a visit, he gave Regulus his old disc-man and the child refuses to put it down. The Flints are inviting us to have lunch with them tomorrow, he wants Emie to spend more time with kids her age."
"We can invite Remus and Tonks so they bring Teddy," he hummed.
"Sure..."
During the brief second she was silent, Harry knew something was wrong.
"Just say it, Mel."
She ran a hand through her long hair and heaved a sigh. "There's something I have been keeping a secret and I know I shouldn't have, but I want you to get rid of it."
Harry blinked, Mel was completely honest and she liked being that way, it gave her peace. So what on earth was she talking about? "What is it?"
"Erick's clean and I want him to stay that way," she kept her eyes on him, her deep, intense stare. "No one knows he killed Dolohov."
The young man visibly relaxed. "Oh, that. I thought you were going to say something bad!"
Mel's mouth opened, and she stammered out a reply. "Wha— I... killing people is bad, Harry!"
"Dolohov was threatening his life, Mel! Erick had no choice!"
"Well, yeah, but they didn't kill him right away—"
Harry leaned closer, he placed his hand on top of hers. "Erick saved our family. Emily and Reg wouldn't be alive if it weren't thanks to him. You know it, I know it. The world knows it. Only an idiot would send him to Azkaban."
"You don't know that," she muttered.
"I'll look out for Erick, I promise," Harry lifted her hand and kissed it, "the Flints are safe."
Mel smiled a little, squeezing his fingers. "Thank you."
He hummed, a playful smile on his lips. "Sometimes I still feel like you worry about him more than you worry about me."
"I worry a normal amount," she made a face, "don't be daft— Erick's one of my best friends!"
"That doesn't stop you from having a crush on him."
"Yes, it does! He's married!" She flicked his nose. "Who the bloody hell do you think I am?" They laughed, Mel suddenly got tense and raised her hand to silence him. "Hang on..."
She got up and left the room, then came back from the bathroom with Regulus, whose hair was soaked.
"You're a menace," the witch scowled, "if you keep doing this, I won't leave you alone. Do you want Emie and Teddy to see how I go with you to the bathroom?"
Regulus' eyes widened, he always felt humiliated when he was given the same treatment as the other kids. "No, I won't do it again!" He pouted. "Could you dry my hair, please?"
Mel ran her hand through his tufts of auburn, in a second they were completely dry.
"Thank you, Mely."
"It's alright, Paddie."
Harry gazed at her lovingly, she helped Regulus back into his chair.
Tumblr media
He was watching Mel put her brother to bed, Reg preferred sleeping with them even if they had four empty bedrooms. The toddler was used to a smaller room right next to his mother's, they couldn't blame him for being afraid of a big, empty house.
"...then we played in the garden and we fed the birds, Hedwig got a little jealous, but then we gave her food and she forgave us..."
Harry remembered the sleepovers they used to have as children. Mel's voice was a little higher then, she was easier to scare and tease, yet he'd loved her as much as now, and he remembered how badly he used to wish for those nights to never end. Now they didn't have to say goodbye for days, he had her, and he wanted it to be forever.
"Will you marry me?" He blurted out.
Mel was taking off her clothes when he'd asked, she was also in the middle of a story, so she got baffled by his question.
"Hadn't we talked about this before?" She grabbed one of Harry's old shirts. "Has it been a year already? I know we said we would talk but don't you think it's a bit late, though?"
"No, sorry, I said it wrong," Harry got up and approached her.
Mel stared at him in amusement. "What d'you mean you said it wrong?"
"I messed up the tone." He looked around without knowing exactly what to do, then pushed the hair away from his eyes and as he looked down he noticed her chest was still bare. "These last four years have been a dream," he grabbed his old shirt from her hands and helped her dress, "there's no reason for us to wait any longer."
Mel's bright eyes continued to stare at him once he finished with the shirt, he seized both of her hands and took a deep breath, as if he were about to dive into the black lake to get her out once more.
"We're good together, and I've been in love with you long enough to be sure... so let me repeat the question, but this time I'll do it right." He got down on one knee. "Mel Dumbledore-Sultens," he said. "Will you marry me?"
She opened her mouth to reply, but Harry stopped her.
"We don't have to do it right now! We can wait, plan it carefully if you feel that it's too soon— I'll wait, I just want to make sure that—"
"Harry," Mel didn't need to call his name more than once this time. "I'd love to marry you."
The young witch seized him by the collar of his shirt and pulled him upwards, her kiss took him by surprise but he straightened up and hugged her by the waist.
Harry moved away unexpectedly. "I don't have a ring. I wasn't going to ask you today, it just happened—"
She kissed him again. "I don't need one, I can wait until the wedding."
Harry kissed her forehead and held her closer, he kept her in place for quite a long time.
Tumblr media
"We're getting married."
Everyone looked at them, but they weren't surprised.
Fred was the first to speak. "Mily, you owe me ten galleons!"
"Mum! Have you been betting about Harry and me again?" Mel asked in outrage.
"She thought you'd get pregnant first, I knew you were smarter than that," Fred winced, he looked at Anne. "Not that getting pregnant before marriage is bad! It's just that I know Mel, and she's always been a careful planner..."
Mel turned to Remus and glared at him. "And? D'you want me to believe you didn't know about this?"
"I wasn't," the man drew out a small bag from his robes and started to count money, "but I did lose the original bet, so I guess I should pay your mother now..."
"Oh, just give the money to Fred already! It's better if I don't touch it at all..." Emily sulked.
"Yeah, it is," Harry raised a brow. "Are you sure you don't have a gambling problem, Mily?"
"I think we're getting a little sidetracked here," Erick chortled, "Harry and Mel are getting married!"
"Yeah, yeah, congrats. What do you want us to say? You've been dating since you were eleven, it doesn't come as a surprise," George said without looking up from his food.
Hermione rushed over to the couple and hugged them, her eyes were teary. "I'm so very happy for you two. Very."
"We both are," Ron was smiling like a proud dad. "About time!"
"Well, since all of you decided to be rude about it," Erick scowled at the rest of their friends. "I'll be the decent bloke in the room. When's the happy day, guys?"
"I... don't know," the girl looked at Harry only to receive a shrug as a reply. "We haven't planned anything and it's already July... sometime next year?"
"We'll help," Anne beamed, she had little Elizabeth sleeping in her arms, her eldest daughter was being watched by Regulus, who'd always liked to feel like the guardian of all the children. "This is the second wedding I'll be attending, it's so exciting!"
"Harry," Remus' face was impossible to read. "Can I have a word with you?"
"Blimey!" George smirked. "Careful, mate, the bride's father is about to give you the talk! I had it with Angelina's," he shivered, "not fun at all."
Harry laughed, but when he looked at Remus he couldn't help the sting of anxiety that went through his chest. Remus walked him out of the Burrow until they reached the garden area, the stars were shining above every piece of land.
The young man looked at Remus, he was the same height as his former professor, but the different shades of brown and grey on his hair gave away which of them was older.
"I know you love her," the man said, "I don't need you to prove it. I also know that she loves you. I'm happy for you."
"Thanks," Harry frowned, "then why did you bring me out here?"
"I felt like being a little dramatic," Remus showed a tiny smile as he spoke, "but I do have a few things to say."
Harry prepared for impact. "I'm listening."
"Mel doesn't want to change her Lastname, so don't ask her to."
"I wasn't going to," Remus looked at him with a bit of scepticism, Harry explained further. "It'd be weird. I've known Mel Dumbledore my whole life and 'Mel Potter' sounds like a stranger."
Lupin nodded. "I know I'm not her father... but I want you to know that you have my blessing, if it matters at all."
"I'm glad, Remus. Mel wants you to be the one who walks her down the aisle."
The man blinked. "What about Mily?"
"She's going to walk me," Harry grinned.
"Of course," Remus laughed, "Sirius would've loved to see this, you know? And your parents."
"I know," he retorted with absent eyes, "Matthew as well... they are though, one way or another."
Remus began to walk back to the house, but he stopped and looked at Harry, sudden worry written on his features. "You'll look after her, won't you? Mel was my whole life when I was your age... I'd feel better if I know you'll be there for her now that I can't."
"Mel saved my life," Harry placed one hand on the man's shoulder. "I won't leave her."
The man pulled Harry in for a hug and patted his back in a fatherly way. When they came back, Mel was surrounded by the women plus Erick and Joseph, while the men had been waiting for Remus and Harry to return.
"Everything alright out there?" Mr Weasley asked.
"Yeah, I've decided he's good enough for my girl," Remus joked.
"I had to bribe him, actually," Harry added. "Good thing I'm rich."
It was then that Harry noticed a tiny figure near the fireplace: Leon Regulus had his arms tightly crossed and his brow furrowed, he was the only person in the room that looked incredibly miserable. In front of him, little Emily was trying really hard to cheer him up.
Harry knelt next to them. "Reg? What's wrong?"
Emily gulped and got to her feet, quickly finding her father and hiding behind his legs. Regulus looked at Harry, his grey eyes blazing.
"What's wrong?" The boy hissed. "What's wrong? You know what!"
He'd never spoken to Harry that way, it took him by surprise.
"I really don't know," he retorted calmly. "Can you please explain?"
"You're marrying my sister," the way he said it made Harry feel like he was going to kill Mel in front of an audience. "My sister. Why would you do that? She's a sister!"
Harry struggled to keep a straight face. "Because we've been dating since you were a baby. I love her a lot and I want to be her husband."
"You don't have to marry her, she's not a wife," Reg wrinkled his nose in disgust. "Mum was never a wife."
"So you don't want her to get married?" Harry pondered. "Your mum had two babies, that means Mel can have two as well, right? But both mine, of course."
Reg's face turned almost as deep red as his hair. For a crazy moment, Harry thought the boy would punch him, but the boy knew how to pick his battles. Reggie gave him the coldest glare possible and stomped away from the conversation.
Harry stared at the boy in astonishment, he never thought that out of all the men in the room —two of them being Mel's ex-boyfriends— Regulus would be the one reacting that way.
"What's wrong, mate?" Ron nudged his arm. "You look terrible! Are you sure Remus didn't scare you much?"
"Remus isn't the problem," he nodded at the toddler, who'd made his way to Mel and was now in her arms. "Reg hates me."
"Reggie? But he loves you!"
"Yeah," Harry didn't want to admit he was almost as hurt as he was amused. "I'll have to win him back."
"He's a baby, Harry, how hard can it be?"
"He's not any baby," the young man grimaced. "He's half a Black... and half a Sultens."
"Oh. Right..." Ron's face brightened a little. "I think I pity you a little!"
