I don’t think the writers forgot what Jonathan’s dream school was— at least I hope they didn’t— but I think the point was that Jonathan didn’t even consider NYU as an option. It was about staying close to his family or what his girlfriend wanted. What he wanted wasn’t even in his periphery.
