Hi there. Any mdtb AU fic recs (modern setting preferably or unique settings) that you could share? Thanks :)
Sure thing! I'm gonna try to list some of the less popular (around 500 or less kudos) fics that I love so there's a higher chance people haven't read them yet, and also, so they'll get more love.
Forward by @raendown
Modern AU where Madara meets Tobirama again at a soccer game. Very cute and Raendown's works are all amazing. Honestly, they have a ton of good Modern AU's, so I'd just go check their profile out and search their Modern AU tag.
Get Yourself Someone Who Can Do Both by Gracelte
A funny modern AU Valentine's fic where every year for Valentine's, Madara pretends to go get stood up at a restaurant to get free meals.
The Boss's Sweetheart series by Sylencia
An overall amazing series, I think the second one is my favorite just because of the scene they make at their date and how Madara tries to make up for it afterwards.
In Need of Good Food by @wisiaden
A very funny food fic where Tobirama has a ton of food allergies, but doesn't let that stop him from enjoying renown chef Madara's food.
To Whom it May Concern by Honks
A very cute and funny Modern fic with an online crochet teacher Tobirama, who goes by Suiton, and a Madara who is a very good son who is just trying to help his mother out by emailing Suiton questions about his pattern videos.
Of Fungi And Voyria by @messier-47
This is actually a Stardew Valley au, though no knowledge of the game is needed (as I have none and still enjoyed it). It's got some heavy themes though, so mind the tags. Totally worth it if you can read it though, it's what got me into Messier's fics (which are all amazing, especially the spice).
Two Of A Kind by midnightfeast
This is a MadaTobi fic in a kinda loose way, as Madara is an inmate at a prison, and Tobirama is a horse, but they bond. It's cute, and a little funny seeing Madara become the Horse Girl tm. Definitely worth a read.
Angel of Vengeance by Makiaru
Modern cop Tobirama who requires help from a hired killer Madara for a special case after something happens and his suspect walks free, allowing them to kidnap his younger brothers.
And now, for some spice!
No Matter the Distance by Sylencia
Modern AU long distance relationship with some nice phone sex.
Play Games With Me by Sir_Thirst_A_Lot
A funny modern gaming streamer Tobirama and Madara fic with lots of fluff and UST.
Working Relationship by CreativeSweets
A modern superhero au with kleptomaniac Tobirama and superhero Madara falling for each other. In mask or out of mask? I won't say. It's a good story on its own, but it does have some spice in it.
Ride For Me by Pengress
A spicy fic set in a modern sex club where Madara goes to let off some steam by himself. Tobirama likes what he sees and maybe wants to show Madara how much better things would be if he let Tobirama join. For now though he can't touch Madara, so he'll have to get creative.
All in the Technique by @illogicals-blog
Tobirama moves back home and rejoins the Uchiha owned dojo where Madara has become an instructor. Lots of UST, and many innuendos about working out.
Send them Packing by @ellionne
A funny modern female Madara exacting revenge on some men who decide to spread fake stories about sleeping with her by pretending to have a dick they apparently "forgot" to mention in their stories, and a sec shop worker Tobirama who is all too willing to help her, in more ways than one.
If there's a Modern AU fic you like that I didn't list, it's either because it's something I've already linked before in a previous rec list, which you can find here or here, or it's from Raendown or Sylencia, who pretty much dominate the Modern AU tags, and you should definitely just go to their pages and read all their fics.
#fic rec list#its crazy how many modern aus are by reandown and Sylencia#theyre all so good too#please check them out#fiyas speaks#madatobi#madara uchiha#tobirama Senju

I want to share one of my favorite little things to make. It's a go to item for me when I feel like making something but I really don't feel like putting much effort or thought in. A zombie project if you will. I know, sue me for wanting a low effort, low brain power something to do once in a while.
So what is this zombie project you ask?
Crochet wash cloths!
And super simple ones at that. I've come up with a size that absolutely suits my needs and works up within a couple hours of mindless crocheting.
The latest ones I have made are from a color I found at Walmart which is called "Chocolate Milk" and I just adore how the colors mix when working these wash cloths. I will add a link at the end of this post to the exact yarn I use as well.
These turn out so soft and sturdy they can be used anywhere from bathing a baby to moonlighting as a hot pad in the kitchen.
The magical part of these to me is the simplicity to make. There's no complicated stitches to remember or rounds to keep up with. It's all one stitch and you stop whenever it reaches the length you want. Personally I've found that and 8"X8.5" size is perfect for my needs.
For anyone wanting to replicate the "pattern" goes like this.
Begin by chaining 30. Turn
Single crochet into the first chain from the hook and each chain across.
At the end of the row chain one and turn.
Single crochet into every stitch across.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 until wash cloth reaches your desired length.
It's that simple! For even beginners this is a fun pattern to do because you only need to know how to chain and single crochet.
The finished product should look something like this.
Another reason I love making these is that they are so easy to take with along anytime I leave the house. I just shove my yarn and my hook in my bag and go so it's super easy for me to keep my hands busy if I get an idle moment.
I especially like to crochet in the car. I am usually a passenger princess whenever Travis and I are going places so this helps me keep my hands busy but also my mind free to talk as well which is something I seem incapable of doing while I'm on my phone scrolling Facebook or Pinterest because I have tunnel vision AND selective hearing apparently.
Crochet rather than scrolling saves me a lot of "Huh?s" and Travis a lot of breath repeating himself.
I spent last weekend snapping out a couple of these while we were riding dirt roads (a favorite pastime of Travis's) and checking out all the water from the recent deluge of rain we had.
Keep these in mind next time you have a creative spark but not much motivation to tackle a big project. They are great at making me feel accomplished but also not being too big of a commitment because I struggle with finishing things.
Amazon link:
And for anyone that likes these but doesnt want to make them, I have them listed in my Etsy shop as well.
Hope you've enjoyed this read and if you make any of your own wash cloths please feel free to share them with me!
You can find me on Instagram

Please boost! We need help ASAP!
So as y’all know, if ya don’t there’s about 2 years worth of posts on my blog where I’ve talked about this, we’ve been dealing with a violent and dangerous situation with our neighbor and shady ass slumlord of a property manager.
TW:: Some of the audio might be triggering to anyone who’s been in a violent situation — also broken glass and yelling — Here’s a link to the Instagram highlight I made with all the “tea” on it (as it relates to what we’ve been dealing with these last few months; but it’s just the tip of the iceberg for what’s been going on since late 2019), including video and audio clip proof of my neighbor’s violent and dangerous behavior.
We’re trying to move asap! Unfortunately, after my 99’ mercury mountaineer was totaled last October when someone hit it from behind at a red light, we spent all our savings (plus the insurance money) on the beetle. It was definitely worth it. We needed a car so my boyfriend could continue his chiropractor appointments and we could stop wasting $50 a ride on cabs to his work. But it completely dried out our savings. So we are back to living paycheck to paycheck (as I’m sure a lot of you can relate to as well). This means coming up with $1,400 to move is almost impossible for us to do in a timely manner.
We don’t have time to wait. Our property manager has made it very clear that she isn’t concerned with our safety. She was on speaker phone with our other neighbor when she [our upstairs neighbor] was threatening us at our door (watch 4th story on the highlight I linked) and she [our property manager] claimed that there was nothing she could do about it. We emailed her the day our hot water was stolen and.. she did nothing about it. We emailed her the night our neighbor swept broken glass, trash and cigarette butts onto our patio.. and she did nothing about it. She refuses to evict this woman despite her being violent, dangerous, a disturbance to everyone around her and, being complained about multiple times by multiple residents.
I have chronic pain (fibromyalgia) and a compromised immune system; so working a physically labor intensive job, during a pandemic, isn’t an ideal solution for me. Despite this I’ve applied at 120+ places, I’m just waiting for a call back. I have an Etsy shop, and I’m a freelance crochet artist. I make enough to survive but not enough to save. I’m also trying to slowly chip away at the $20,000+ of medical debt I’ve accumulated over the last 8 years. My boyfriend is a dance teacher but he’s also applied for a part time as well, even though he doesn’t really have time and he’s still recovering from the accident. These part time jobs won’t be forever, we’re just trying to get anything we can to save money at this point. Even if it compromises our health. At this point, living where we live now, our health is already going south; especially our mental health.
I’m just trying to move. Affording to actually live in a new place isn’t obviously the problem (as we live in our own apartment now; and the rent at this place is actually cheaper than the market value rent of our current place) it’s just there are so many costs to moving that paying rent + bills + groceries + medications + debt + other essentials leaves no room for actually saving to move out. There’s security deposit + first months rent + a deposit to get electricity turned on + cost to switch internet to new place + uhaul rental. It’s a lot.
So I’m asking anyone who might want to help if they can drop a few dollars on my ko-fi — or even better — if you crochet (or knows someone who does) you can purchase one of my patterns. They’re all currently 25% off as of posting this (and will be on sale until Jan 24th 2022). If you’d like to purchase a custom crocheted sweater, cardigan, bralette etc. please feel free to message me and I can give you a quote on price and turn around time estimations. And you can check out my Instagram to see examples of all my work.
Thank you so much in advance for any and all help. We are so desperate to get away from this dangerous and incredibly mentally exhausting situation.

#amigurumay2021 Day 3 Introduce yourself: Hi, I am Jam! I am the creator behind Creuzart. Creuz is my second name and art because I make lots of crafty things. I’m originally from The Philippines but now living in The Netherlands. I’ve been crafting since I remembered but new to the world of amigurumi and got hooked. I am a self taught crocheter and been doing it religiously since 2018. Through the years, I’ve learned a lot and enjoyed the process. It wasn’t always a smooth sailing game but got through it. Now i’m happily creating amigurumis and selling it also in my etsy shop. My plan in the future is make my own patterns too, but i’m far from that goal. Right now, i am just happy crocheting and making videos for my YouTube channel (which is also named Creuzart) I am sharing my work in progress, made some basic tutorials and many more. Hope you’ll check them out too! I’m Back!!!
Okay, friends. After a looong hiatus (not even sure how long it ended up being, but definitely over six months), I’m back! Is anyone even still around? ^^;
Anyways, somehow in this time of chaos and confusion, I’ve been able to come back to my craft. I’ll be reloading my queue, and also trying to write up some posts of my own. In the meantime, I’m going to not so subtly drop a link to my Etsy shop, where I have officially published some patterns, and also have quite a bit of my work posted! It would be huge if you could check it out, or even just share the link. There’s an issue with my unemployment, and I’ve been laid off thanks to COVID for the foreseeable future (which is what happens when you work in a theatre that seats 1600 and your state’s green phase regulations only allow for gatherings of 250, which makes it not worth it for the theatre to have shows), plus my mom lost her job right before Christmas and hasn’t been able to get unemployment either, and she only has enough left to pay the mortgage on our house next month, plus my student loan payments start up again this month so money’s about to get REAL tight if I can’t get my unemployment back. And even if I can TBH because I really won’t get enough from that to support all three of us. So please share my shop with your friends who like amigurumi or crochet (or also hackey sack because I have a bunch of those listed).
All that aside, I also have an Instagram, where it’s a lot easier to keep up with what I’m actually working on because I’m so bad about posting that stuff here, so I’d love it if you followed me there!!! My username is SmallPotatoKnitwear!
Also, I got a TikTok recently, and I’ve been having a lot of fun with it! It’s been great for creating little fun videos of my creations, and I’ve been trying to do some behind-the-scenes stuff with it too. I’m also going to be trying to do some tutorials for basic crochet and knitting in the future on there too, and there are some fun challenges I’ll be setting for myself too! So, if you have a TikTok, follow me as SmallPotatoKnitwear there! If not, I share most of my videos to my Instagram stories, so there’s another reason to give me a follow there! The tutorials I plan to at least try and post here eventually too, so stay tuned for that.
Anyways, thank you all for your patience!!! And for anyone who stuck around through the hiatus, or jumped into this boat while I was gone, thank you and I love you all SOOO much!!! Here’s one of my TikToks as an example why you should all go follow me there kthxbye <3

Writing A Blind of Visually Impaired Character: Mannerisms
This post is part of a multi-step guide to writing blind characters, and it’s master post to all parts is linked here: https://mimzy-writing-online.tumblr.com/post/185122795699/writing-a-blind-or-visually-impaired-character
All posts on writing blind characters will be tagged #blindcharacter for you to search on my blog for.
Follow this blog for more writing advice
Disclaimer: I am a very real visually impaired person who has been living with my disability for two years and these are little things I specifically do, little mannerisms that developed because of my blindness
Part Five: Blindisms or Mannerisms that Breathe Life into Your Characters
Biological Things
-My eyes get tired so easily, and when I say tired I mean they start aching and my vision gets even worse as the day progresses. The muscles start to ache and I’ll press or pinch the area around my eyes because of the pain
-Eye strain will cause headaches. When I get eyestrain I have to take off my glasses, stop looking at screens, and just relax for a while in bed until my eyes feel a little better.
-Weather has a huge impact on how I see, and any light sensitive person with a fair amount of remaining vision will probably have the same problem. Light sensitive people will find sunny days much harder, but overcast days can be a little difficult too because the sun tends to diffuse all across the sky through the clouds and the entire sky is bright
-Snow. This isn’t a me thing because I don’t live in this climate and never have to deal with it, but snow days are incredibly disorientating to people with vision issues. It covers any ground land marks you might use to know where you are (sidewalk versus grass versus street)
-Rain puddles are difficult to see and obnoxious to walk through, and your cane just sloshes through them (my mom usually warns me in advance and tells me how to avoid them)
Hobbies and Interests
-We’re actually not bared from many hobbies and activities. There are some very athletic blind people out there who play sports. Molly Burke used to rock climb and teach at a rock climbing gym when she was younger, she also learned to surf at one point. She’s gone bungee jumping and sky diving. There are lots of athletic blind people out there.
-Martial arts is very possible for blind people and certain organizations for the blind teach self defense classes. So, in case any of you were mad at me for saying you shouldn’t write Daredevil, my point is that you shouldn’t give your blind character unrealistic super senses. Your blind character can still kick some ass when needed.
-I play video games. It’s not impossible, although it is very hard for me. I still love it. I personally play Overwatch on PC and I’ve been playing Sims for years
-Reading is something a lot of blind people enjoy, and it’s sometimes described as the blind person’s version of TV, a way for them to see in their minds eyes what they can’t see with TV. So for this reason I have and will continue to tell you to keep your blind readers in mind and not traumatize, kill, assault, or victimize your blind characters for plot.
-We read in different ways. Some only read through audio books, some read through screen readers, some read on their tablets or laptops because they can enlarge font, some read printed books with magnifiers. It all heavily depends on how much sight your character has left and where they like to get their reading material. For example, if you read fanfiction a lot you will probably have to rely on screen readers on your laptops to read to you, but if you like reading published books then you will rely more on audio books.
-We do watch TV and movies, even if we can’t see the screen at all. Some movies and tv shows come with audio description for the blind, and they describe visual details on screen. You have access to lots of examples of this, because Netflix does have audio description for a lot of their shows and movies. Check audio description on your favorite Netflix Original and minimize your browser window to the background to experience movie going the blind way
-We can cook, and sometimes amazingly. Christine Hà is a blind chef who won the third season of master chef and she is amazing. She published her own cookbook too. Some schools for the blind will offer cooking classes as part of their rehabilitation services
-Art. I recommend hopping on google and checking out some blind artists out there. I’m sure you’ll be surprised by a few. There are painters, sculptors, pottery makers, photographers, and many more. My second blind character is learning to draw in school and will over time develop his own cartoonish style of drawing.
-Music. Yeah, I know I said I didn’t want to see the blind music prodigy again, but that’s because I wanted to see you guys come up with your own stories and your own unique characters. There are some wonderful blind musicians and your blind character deciding to learn to play an instrument for the first time during the course of your story would actually be pretty cool.
Theatre. It would be really cool to see some acting blind characters. Doctor Who had Ellie Wallwork, a blind actress play a blind character on their eleventh season. She was amazing and I really loved that episode, it was my favorite in the whole season. (I also adore Jodie Whittaker)
There are so many more hobbies that you can have, even with vision loss. Some might require you to adjust how you do that hobby, but with the right accommodations you can do just about anything really. (Except drive. Please don’t drive.)
Little Enjoyable Things
-Interesting textures. The less your characters see, the more obsessed they get with interesting textures. Hard ceramic mugs with decorative bumps, soft and fluffy blankets, crochet blankets and pillows, tile lines and patterns, any raised surface like slightly raised letters on a book cover, rocks with interesting but not too sharp textures. The more vision loss you have, the more you rely on your hands and your hands become a way of seeing for you.
-I have bought bumpy mugs and soft blankets and textured pillows for exactly this reason. My fingers touched them and just enjoyed the hell out of it.
-Your hands becoming a way for you to see makes you want to touch everything (except faces) Shopping in stores is especially bad because I’m touching everything even though I have quite a bit of sight left.
-There are favorite outfits, purely because what you’re wearing has the comfiest texture
-Soothing sounds and music. I’m not big into ASMR but some people might be. I like quiet background music
-Sometimes I tap my cane on pavement or other hard surfaces just to hear the way it sounds. I can’t echo-locate, most people can’t, but it’s a weird form of sensory
-Loud environments where sounds seem to come from all directions is overwhelming and not enjoyable
Cane Safety Things
-Bring your cane everywhere
-Have a backup cane when travelling long distance in case something goes wrong
-Don’t ever touch my cane. I mean it, don’t! My cane is an extra limb, it is part of my body and I get incredibly nervous when people touch it, especially if I don’t know them well. I only trust a few people to hold my cane with them for even a minute (my mom, maybe my best friend if I’m trying to put on a sweater and can’t hold it the whole time)
-Cane height: your character’s cane should be as tall as their shoulder, at least, or maybe a few inches taller to their chin.
-Because of this I like to lean forward and rest my chin on my cane when I’m bored and waiting for something (like a line)
-In general I just fidget with my cane so much
-You can actually get custom canes. I have a cane with a royal purple tip instead of red. You can get a cane that’s entirely pink or blue or black or whatever. You can add reflective tape to make you more visible.
-Some people prefer long canes that don’t fold, some people prefer folding canes. It’s really a personal decision. I’ve heard long canes are better for tactile feedback because the vibrations when they hit an object or tap the ground are more accurate. I like folding canes because I like storing it away when I don’t need it right away (in class, sitting at a booth in a restaurant, in my backpack) My preference for folding canes goes back to my paranoia of people touching it when I’m not paying attention
-Long canes that don’t fold are not easy to fit into cars and you need to get creative.
Guide Dog Things / Animal Things
-I will include a more serious list about guide dogs in my Part Four about tools and things blind people use to survive (canes, guide dogs, accessibility tools, braille) but for now this is more of a fun list
-I can’t say this from personal experience because I have never had a guide dog, but I’ve had pets and let me tell you, everyone loves spoiling their pets with gifts and hugs and pets
-Soft animals are so fun to pet
-Please tell me when there’s a cat nearby, even if I can’t pet it. I love cats? Wild bunnies too? (I’m super allergic to bunnies, I should never pet them, but I love their existence, they’re so cute)
-Some blind people are not dog people and will not get a guide dog for this reason. They are still valid. People who aren’t dog people are still valid, regardless of ability or disability.
General Safety Things
-Depending on the orientation and mobility skills of your character, they may not feel super comfortable walking out alone, and this comes down to how much training they have, how independent they are, and if they’re generally and anxious person or a self-assured person. Some blind people are great at inner city travel and can do so confidently, others feel less confident (I’m personally not great at crossing busy streets by myself and parking lots are scary to me)
-They may not like bars or nightclubs- this comes down to who your character is. Bars and nightclubs are loud, it’s hard to talk, they’re crowded so using a cane or guide dog isn’t easy or sometimes possible. They’re also poorly lit and if your character has some remaining vision but is night blind, this is especially bad. Because of how preyed upon women are, especially disabled women, your character probably won’t feel safe in a bar or nightclub because they know creeps might target them because they can’t see
-Being blind, you develop this awareness that there are predators out there in the world who see your blindness as something to exploit, that will make you easy to assault or abuse.
NOTE: please don’t use this as an excuse to write a rape as part of your plot. The general consensus of readers has come to the conclusion that using rape as something to further your plot is a terrible thing to do, it is cheap and unoriginal plot development and that you shouldn’t do it. You especially shouldn’t put your blind characters through something traumatic like this. Seriously guys, blind people are coming to your stories because they want to see themselves represented. Seeing themselves victimized will only hurt them. DON’T hurt your readers like that
-Because of this awareness of how vulnerable you can be, you learn to walk in groups and avoid places where predators frequent (bars and nightclubs)
God, this thing is getting long and there are so many other little blindisms that I’ve probably not thought of yet. I will probably make more posts in the future about blindness, including little stories or things I experience.

back at it almost an entire year later. and i can now confirm she's this insane in all of her patterns (there's over 84 of them????) (<compliment)
she has also made a website since the first post (link) the patterns are cheaper there and the payment is handled through PayPal (and I'm guessing she gets a Way bigger cut of the money than with her Etsy so maybe check out the site instead) of the Etsy listed above.
also quick faq below the cut bc idk, supporting small businesses ran by WOC is important and this lady is rad. I just genuinely love her products and want more people to know about them.
The patterns are full color and come with charts, full color pictures, and standard written instructions with a key in the back and tutorials for all non standard stitches and techniques.
They aren't actually that difficult. I crochet very rarely (and mostly do amigurumi) bc of wrist issues and still had a really easy time working through them bc like, the techniques aren't basic but if you don't already know them you will know them after doing the pattern. A lot of the difficulty comes from using a very fine thread, but you can also just use normal yarn to have giant beautiful flowers instead of life size ones (i personally prefer a size 10 instead of the recommend size 40 bc it's easier on my wrists) Also here's a link to her shop where she sells the thread. it's an Etsy link bc i don't think she has a non Etsy site for physical products yet.
the patterns are All Really Really Cheap. that rose pattern i called 8$ is only 7usd on her site. the most expensive items i can find are 12$ and they're both bundles. One with 9 mini patterns the other with 16. you are getting a fucking Deal no matter which you buy by my estimate.
she has everything from like a million types of rose and from amaryllises to zinnias and she's making more patterns.
yall know that post with all of those absolutely stunning crochet flowers? well i just bought a pattern from the shop those are from and Good Fucking Lord.
I was expecting a like a Chart or two, maybe some written instructions. not Seventy Seven full color pages for One type of rose.
this was like 8 bucks???? obviously i did some redacting but Good Lord. if you are even a little bit into crochet go throw money at this absolute Mad woman its Definitely worth it.
#i want to buy one of every pattern in her shop#this post destroys my notes every so often but its a sacrifice im willing to make#tumblr function for 2 seconds and let me insert the cut

NaKniCroMo 2019
Week 1: Meet the Maker!
Day 1: Share your goal
Gearing up for my first NaKniCroMo! This month, I've got a few goals in mind. Some may or may not happen, some of them may go through some sort of metamorphosis and become something else, I'm just gonna be forgiving with myself and make this a month of fun, not stress. Here we go!
Goal #1: Write my first big pattern using this yarn!
I want it to be a skirt, with a fairly open motif, through which I can show off my FinFolk Productions mermaid tail scale leggings! What you see there that is already crocheted is too big, and also I don't like how it's turning out. I'm going to frog it and start again, with better math this time! My FMIL got me this yarn for Christmas and I hope there's enough of it for this project. But if not, I know how to rip, and I have some other ideas in mind 😉
Goal #2: Two pairs of slippers out of this yarn.
The blue tones are for my grandma, and the purples are for my aunt. They both need new slippers, so this will be the first quick project of the month! I expect them to take just over half the week total for both pairs.
Goal #3: Hoping to make at least one amigurumi per week, like these guys here!
This will help me build my inventory for the upcoming craft show, which I will talk more about later, hopefully. But if not a weekly amigurumi, then at least something to help build my inventory, like some hats or gloves or who knows!
Goal #4: Stash busting! I hope to make at least two medium-sized granny squares from my unused scraps every day. If I manage to make 60, that should be enough to make a blanket for our bed. Right?! My fiance seems to really like granny squares, so I would like to surprise him with a blanket by the end of April. We'll have to see how this goal goes, though, as I hear it is common to drastically underestimate how much yarn one needs for a blanket, and my entire past year has been one big decades-old stash being busted with small project after small project 😅
Anyway this first post is long enough, once I complete my goals for Day 1 I'll take a photo and update from there!
If you like my work here, please consider checking out my Etsy shop, FinsNStitches. Link will be in the reblog!
